Places to stay in Ifold
Dragonfly Lodge is a newly converted luxury self-catered apartment tucked away in beautifully quiet West Sussex countryside. This spacious self-contained flat renovated from a large double garage is a naturally light, modern space nestled in front of stunning woodland in our 7 acre garden and Alpaca field. With a river, canal, rolling fields, woods and a meca of footpaths on your doorstep, this is the perfect launchpad to explore the countryside by foot, bike or horse. It's dog walkers heaven.
Dragonfly Lodge is an entire self-contained single-storey ground floor apartment with private entrance and parking. Light, modern and airy with views across fields, woodland and the Wey & Arun canal. The lodge is attached to our family home but feels very private. Spacious parking at the front of the lodge makes it easy to unload your things. Vertical blinds let in loads of light through the two large double patio doors and give you extra privacy when desired. The lodge is extremely well-kitted out with everything you should need to cook in the fully equipped large kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer. We include a welcome box with fresh ground coffee, organic teas, sugar, fresh juice, cereals, local eggs, bread, jam and butter. There are kitchen essentials like bin bags, dishwasher tablets, cling film, foil and washing equipment for you to use. The King size bedroom has a comfy bed, quality cotton linen, luxury wool duvet to make your stay as comfortable and hotel-like as possible. There is tons of clothes storage space in the large wardrobe and chest of drawers. A patio door leads to the outside private patio and seating area with view over the woodland and our friendly Alpacas who will be grazing nearby. The living room has a huge L shaped sofa and arm chair with smart tv, netflix and wifi. Cosy sofa blankets are provided for snuggling under. In the large bathroom with walk in shower you will find soft Egyptian cotton towels warmed on the heated towel rail and a selection of hotel toiletries and plenty of storage. Well behaved dogs are very welcome to join you adhering to our house rules. We ask is that any dog mess is picked up and that dogs stay on leads in our garden so they can not roam free into our back field and scare the Alpaca. We have a very placid friendly senior french bulldog Wynny who you may see when he wakes up from one of his many lengthy naps. The enclosed patio gives you a secure outside space for children or pets or to relax with a glass of wine. There is plenty of grass for dogs to stretch their legs on at the front leading down to the many footpaths straight from our garden along the canal and to local villages and pubs. The lodge has been converted with couples in mind but you are very welcome to bring babies / children as there is space for an extra bed/cot. We have everything you would need that could be added (on request) - travel cot, highchair, books and indoor and outdoor toys. The large corner sofa bed can be made into 1 adult single or 2 child single beds or a large king size. Extra bedding can be provided for a small charge.
Stunningly beautifully and quiet West Sussex countryside. Ifold is a quiet private estate Hamlet (shop reopening in April 2020) and we are located at the very end of a long winding farm track over the river bridge and across the canal out the back of the hamlet. It is a short 10-15 minute walk along the canal to Loxwood where there is a great local shop, pub and award winning butchers. 7 minutes drive the other direction is another great local shop and tearoom at Plaistow located on a picturesque village green.
  • Sarah's place was absolutely amazing! So peaceful and beautiful and the added touches just make it above and beyond expectations. We really needed a secluded break away and that's exactly what we got. This is its own little paradise in the countryside.

  • Absolutely fantastic, relaxing couple of nights away. Sarah couldn’t have been more accommodating and really looked after us. The lodge is spotless and has a lovely homely feel to it. Perfect location if you’re looking for a break - especially if you have a pooch, brilliant walking and pubs nearby. Thank you Sarah and family, we will be back!

    Aaron2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you to Sarah for a wonderful few days at your converted barn. A bottle of cava, orange juice and milk with bread in the bread bin, fully stocked tea and coffee made all the difference for us arriving with nothing. It is soooooo worth the drive through the country roads for a stunningly beautiful location and facilities. The giant walk in shower was luxury and the beautiful fully fitted kitchen including a washing machine and dish washer was just lovely. We were so lucky that Sarah was happy to accommodate our three small white fluffy dogs too! It was just wonderful to enjoy the drive and explore the South Downs, the coast and pretty near by towns and villages. Thank you so much Sarah!

  • From the first message to enquire, all the way through our stay, to the day we got home and messaged as we thought we'd forgotten something, Sarah's communication speed and helpfulness is the best we've had using Air BnB. The lodge is a superb standard, spotlessly clean and little touches that make the difference are thought of. Sarah and her husband even ensured our 10 month old enjoyed his stay by providing toys and a cot which were waiting in the lodge. The location allows for stunning walks and sun rises and is absolutely perfect if you want a quiet break from the 9-5. You'd never know the lodge is in the grounds of Sarah's House as privacy is completely respected although Sarah and her husband are on hand for helpful tips during your stay or to answer any questions. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we were in the area

  • Myself and my boyfriend stayed at Dragonfly Cottage for two nights over New Years with our 8 month old son; looking to escape the hubbub of London and get some fresh air. From start to finish communication with Sarah was fantastic - she was particularly considerate in offering options for placement of the travel cot (which she provided, as well as a high chair and some of her daughters old toys). The Cottage itself is a wonderful cosy space with plenty of room for little ones to play within sight. The surroundings are beautiful and we felt we could be in the middle of nowhere; we took a walk along the canal to Loxwood which was picturesque even on a grey day - we only wish we were able to stay another day or two so we could have explored further. Finally, we took advantage of the opportunity to feed the alpacas which our son loved - not something you get to experience with every Airbnb. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay and a pleasure to deal with such a great host as Sarah - would recommend to all!

    Kat2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah is a fantastic host and the lodge a lovely place to stay in the Surrey countryside. She organised lots of nice items for breakfast which was a really nice touch as we didn’t have to worry about grabbing things from the supermarket. The lodge is exactly as you see it in the photos, very stylishly decorated and sparkling clean. There are some really nice walks to do in the area and her pub recommendations are great. We loved Noah’s Ark in Lurgashall. We had a fantastic weekend and would highly recommend Sarah’s lodge.

    Valeria2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic stay at the lodge - the location really is about as secluded as you could possibly want, facilities in the lodge are fantastic and Sarah couldn't be a more helpful host. Really appreciated the welcome pack and the overall cleanliness of the place, bed was lovely and comfy, kitchen was well-equipped... marvellous!

    Matt2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah was a lovely host and made us feel very welcome. Sarah contacted us to check if we had any food allergies so she could provide us with a lovely welcome pack. We stayed for a few nights and we didn't really need anything and the place was extremely comfortable and private during our stay. It was very clean and spacious with a private patio looking the Alpacas, which was great! We cannot thank Sarah enough for her hospitality and we are looking forward to coming back again and soon. We would highly recommend anyone to stay.

Cottage in beautiful garden setting, very large living room/kitchen this has bi-fold doors to terrace overlooking the gardens. Wood burrner for heating. 2 double bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor. Also a loft bedroom with double bed.
Its spacious and easy to live in. The 2 bedrooms on the ground floor are a joining. The 3rd bed is in the mezzanine loft. The bathroom is spacious and has an over bath shower with a side screen. The kitchen has a large electric oven / hob and a large fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, and lots of crocks and small kitchen equipment. I think the space is good for 4 people as there is 1 bathroom.
I love that this area is so tranquil very green and pretty. Some may say in the middle of no where I say in the middle of every where. All the sweet old towns of Petworth, Midhurst, Haselmere, Cranleigh are about 6 to 8 miles away.
  • Excellent accommodation, very clean and well equipped, exactly as described.

  • Sally was excellent and the cottage was brilliant for our 8 day stay. Big enough for 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) and had all the perfect touches for our stay. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others

    Jason2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sally is an impeccable host with a very stylish and comfortable space. We couldn't fault the place, a magical Christmas stay. Little touches such as a Christmas tree really made it

    Alex2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place, clean, relaxing (wooden cottage), great fire, kitchen. Its remote so amazing for a relaxing time. We felt the cottage was just stunning!

  • This is a wonderful place to stay in a really quiet and private location. The lodge was beautifully clean and was very easy to find and within a good distance to lovely local villages and towns. If taking a baby, take a bath mat with you as we found our little one sliding around a lot in the lovely big bath! We really enjoyed our stay here and Sally was a great host.

    Sophie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A really special retreat, cosy, well equipped, and clean. Even better than the photos, and Sally is a very welcoming host. Would definitely go back, we were sad to leave.

Cottage set in rural location near Billingshurst. Suitable for one or 2 people. Well located for Kirdford, Chichester, Horsham, Arundel, Cranleigh, Petworth, Haslemere, Guildford. Excellent walking and close to places of interest to visit.
Sympathetically converted, this super barn conversion, previously the egg store of a renowned chicken farm, stands adjacent to our home, which is on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Kirdford. The cottage is beautifully furnished to a high standard and provides twin or double bed (to be confirmed on booking), fitted bathroom, fitted kitchen with open plan lounge/dining area and log burner. Logs and kindling are provided for your arrival and further supplies available for purchase when required.
Close to the South Downs National Park, this attractive holiday barn is ideal for couples wishing to stroll, cycle, fish, play golf or visit the numerous attractions within easy reach. Foxleigh Farm Barn has close access to an extensive network of footpaths, leading to the unspoilt part of the low weald, a haven for birds and wildlife. The quaint village of Petworth is 5 miles away, with its plentiful antique shops, beautiful stately home and Capability Brown designed gardens and parkland, where many functions and events can be enjoyed during the summer months. The charming small town of Midhurst, famous for polo at Cowdray Park is also a short drive, as are Billingshurst, Haslemere and Guildford. Goodwood, with its motor racing and horse racing, Fontwell races, West Dean Gardens, Parham House, The Weald, Downland Open Air Museum and the South Downs are all within easy driving distance, as is the cathedral city of Chichester with its extensive shopping and tea rooms, festival theatre and harbour tours. Alternatively, the town of Arundel with its famous castle and cathedral, plus the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust are both well worth a visit. The Witterings and other beaches are a half-hour’s drive and numerous golf courses are within easy reach. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile. Within the village of Kirdford, just a few minutes walk away, we have a lovely village shop providing local produce and a café with outside seating. Also within the village are two pubs -'The Foresters Arms' and also the well documented newly refurbished 'Half Moon'.
  • This is an excellent place to stay. We were looking for somewhere to completely relax and wind down for a couple of days as this was perfect. The communication was excellent throughout and this is definitely somewhere that we would go back to so that we could get away again.

    Donna2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • A well-designed cottage on a farm, surrounded by open countryside., with ample storage space, ensuite bathroom as well as a downstairs toilet and well-equipped kitchen. Spotlessly clean, despite being dog- friendly, comfortable and warm, the Coop was within easy driving distance of Chichester and close to Petworth.

We have converted the old stable into a guest accommodation and can offer a compact and modern living space right in the heart of Dunsfold. No street lamps, one pub and the village shop just about sum up the ambience. It's a beautiful springboard for country walks and our cosy and separate studio will provide a comfortable and well appointed base.
Old Stable. We think it was originally built in the 18th century and formed part of an old blacksmiths. It's also done a stint as a fire station before it was shortened and replaced by a house. In March 2019 we converted the remaining portion which forms part of our property. Our house is one of 4 cottages built during the First World War. Hence "Victory Cottages". These were built in what was the garden of the house along the front. This house dates back to the 17th century. The Old Stable will have been on the land originally and probably was used for the family nag back in the old days. It now comprises a compact living area served by a fast Wi-Fi connection, a separate shower room and a fully fitted kitchen area with fridge, freezer, all pots and pans, plates, cutlery, 2 induction hobs and a microwave oven. There is shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrushes for those who have forgotten their own. If requested, we can rig a washing machine in the courtyard for exclusive use by guests. And a tumble drier is also available in an adjacent shed. There is an honesty tin for using the washing machine and tumble drier to cover the cost of electricity.
Dunsfold is a quiet village with historically significant interest. The church is over 800 years old with the oldest pews in the country (apparently!) The shop and pub cater for all local needs. Trains to London or to the south coast may be caught at the closest stations. There is a bus service which covers the local area and which goes into Guildford. The village is a springboard for local walks across the downs or to adjacent villages.
  • Outstanding! On the same level of a very good hotel, if not better. Janet and Anthony are well organised and the place is just perfect from every point of view. Loved my stay, would definitely book again.

    Bruno2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent value for money with delightful owners. Would certainly go again

    Michael2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy place in a charming village. Spotlessly clean, great amenities with extra thoughtful touches. We stayed during storm “Dennis” and no issues, the accommodation was warm and cosy. Lovely hosts and would definitely recommend and stay again.

    Nicky2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing overnight stay at the old stable! Thanks to clear instructions the location and entry to the property was very easy. Upon arrival the room was extremely welcoming and sparkling clean. Being Valentine’s Day, the cupcakes and chocolate was a lovely gesture. Everything you could have needed was provided, and more! We really appreciated the little touches, as well as the breakfast choices - very thoughtful! We were extremely comfortable and cosy. Janet and Anthony were very friendly and happy to accommodate any queries or requests we had. Thank you very much for a lovely stay and we would definitely come again!

    Emily2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We'd suggest staying at The Old Stable for anyone who wants to spend a weekend in the beautiful Surrey. For our trip, the hosts were extremely accommodating with the check-in (we arrived quite late from our trekking tour) and kindly heated up the place for us. They also gave us directions to nearby places to buy local foods, and let us stay beyond the check-out time. The place itself is a detached cosy house with all the essentials inside plus a kitchenette. Everything was well-kept, modern and clean. It couldn't have been better!

    Giancarlo2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully appointed little house. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We loved staying here even though it was just one night. The breakfast was great too. Hope to go back again soon. Thanks Janet!

    Anne-Elizabeth2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming couple who were very communicative throughout the whole process. The cottage is a very well kept and modernised space that has all you need for a few relaxing nights away in the country. We were very happy with our choice to stay there and would definitely recommend it to solo or paired travellers but would certainly advise visiting with a car.

A beautiful original Granary on a small farm just outside Petworth is now a welcoming double studio with en suite bathroom, perfectly located for a couple or single person wanting to get away from it all within an hour's drive of London. It has a super king size bed, en suite bathroom, a well-equipped modern kitchenette (with fridge/freezer, sink, induction hob, toaster & kettle) and French doors onto a pretty balcony where you can sit and enjoy a sundowner overlooking the beautiful countryside.
The Granary is quiet, private and very comfortable with beautiful rural views.
Petworth is a quintessential English country market town only one mile away. What makes the Granary unique is its quietness and privacy. Perfect for anyone who just needs to de-stress from urban life or self-isolate with total peace of mind.
  • Cozy and exactly what we had hoped for. Would definitely go back.

    Sarah2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Set well off the beaten track in deepest Sussex, the Granary is one of the best places I have ever stayed in. Despite the filthy weather, the puppy and I had a great time. Glorious views across green fields, a beautifully decorated space and a huge, comfortable bed, make future stays inevitable.

    Emma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lot more spacious than the photos made out!

    Cesare2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We read all the reviews for this property and had high expectations. Everyone is right, it is really a beautiful, clean and spacious property. The countryside around is truly peaceful and as recommended by other guests, we walked to 'The Stag' pub in Balls Cross which is an easy 1-hour walk via small farm roads. The Granary was immaculate and such a great space to live in for a couple of days. There is a small (but amazing) hob which we used to cook ourselves meals and breakfast with the eggs, butter, and bread left for us by the hosts! I would highly recommend this place to anyone, especially those who want a quiet getaway to the countryside, away from city life.

    Emma2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay in a beautiful setting.

    Araminta2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful rural location with stunning views across the countryside. The space was large and exceptionally clean on arrival.

    Will2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Space was bigger than it seemed in the photos which was a nice surprise. Great facilities in a lovely area.

    Connor2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The location is fantastic, close to Petworth, walking tracks and pubs, but also remote enough to have peace while enjoying the views. The Granary's décor is lovely, the room comfortable and the bathroom has a great shower. We enjoyed our 3 day stay and would return without hesitation.

A small country cottage in the beautiful village of Plaistow, West Sussex, famous for having over 30 listed properties. The cottage is annexed onto the Grade II listed main house with 9 acres of land, it has its own front door and private rose garden. The stairlift. is not in use. The fireplace is an electric stove. The bed is a superking or twin beds and kid's beds are available on request. There is parking outside your front door and the decor within is all newly refurbished and very light.
The village of Plaistow is small, rural and charming. It benefits from an amazingly well stocked village shop and cafe, should you not wish to cook breakfast yourself. We are a very short walk from the shop and very close to the church and local pub which is open at weekends and does food on a Friday evening. There is a pretty village green with a children’s play/ park area and there are plenty of walks or cycle rides around. The towns of Horsham, Guildford and Chichester are about 30 minutes drive and all have theatres and cinemas and many shops and amenities. There are countless beautiful villages with wonderful pubs and Goodwood is only 20 minutes away in the lovely town of Petworth.
  • The cottage was full of flowers and a welcome breakfast hamper was a very nice touch. Cate was great at replying quickly and offered good local pub tips. We only stayed for a night but it was a nice break from London

    Kit2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cate was a fantastic host. She catered to our needs and her communication was particularly responsive and helpful. The cottage was lovely and very spacious. Cate provided plenty of local tips and walks along and around the area. Cate communicated often during the harsh weather to ensure we had everything we needed and felt safe and she greeted us with a warm welcome. Would happily revisit again

  • Lovely little annex on some really beautiful land, located amongst a number of cute villages with warm, cosy pubs. Kitchen features a lovely Arga, a small fridge (space for a few days of basics) and all the cookware you need to home cater. Lounge area has a tv and faux electric heater fireplace, which give enough warmth to the room. Bedroom and bathroom lovely. Would stay again!

    Nick2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best little place one can find int he area if you are visiting for what ever reason, better than any hotel or travel lodge. Super clean thoughtful touches and just so easy and idyllic. What would you not stay here?

    Kathryn2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cate is a very welcoming host and many kind extra touches are left for guests. Bread and milk plus coffee and tea. The accommodation is clean and cosy. The bedroom is magnificent as are the grounds. I would highly recommend this property. Great too if you like long country dog walks.

    Nic2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. The cottage is beautiful and the welcome basket was a very thoughtful touch. Its a great option to feel like you can take a total break from the city but is only 90min from London. The hosts provided great recommendations for local restaurants and walks. Would highly recommend.

    Ashley2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay we had. If you want some rural peace and quiet then this is the place. Lovely walks on your doorstep and a charming village atmosphere. Cate is also one of the nicest hosts ive come across in the airbnb world.

  • Sissy made us very comfortable and the place had everything we needed

    Ash2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything went smoothly - easy check-in and check-out, and Sissy was very helpful with our questions. I can't recommend staying here enough. We stayed here to give ourselves a break from the busyness of the Christmas period and it was perfect. The local pub is less than a stone's throw away (even with my bad throwing arm) and has good food and board games.

  • The cottage is right by the Common and very quiet. We enjoyed walking around Dunsfold which is an attractive Surrey village

    Marian2019-12-28T00:00:00Z

    Roger2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sissy’s place exceeded my expectation in every way and was so cosy and it delighted me and my partner immensely. Not only was the place clean and well equipped but her and her family are so cool and welcoming. I’m recommending anyone who enjoys historic sites and an eye for detail to stay here and the locals were just as nice. All in all a great stay.

  • Sparkling clean one bedroom cottage - perfect for two people. Kitchen well equipped and lovely croissant for breakfast! Dunsfold is such a pretty place and cottage a couple of doors from the pub!

    Marion2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy guesthouse in rural location with all you could need for a home away from home. Being next door to a pub is extremely useful if you don't fancy cooking, though the property comes very well equipped. Fantastic host, who was extremely eager to help, keeping us updated, and offering communication at a moments notice. We would definitely stay here again!

    Dan2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely Cottage, comfortable , well situated in a quiet rural setting but with easy access to nearby towns. There was good communication before and throughout our stay. Sissy met us and was very welcoming and approachable - a great host. There were thoughtful touches such as croissants, milk ,butter, tea and cereals which on our arrival helped enormously . There is an excellent local shop/post office and friendly pub serving good food (and takeaway pizzas) all within 5 minute walking distance. Would certainly recommend it and hope to return one day. Thanks Sissy.

  • Gorgeous property in idyllic surroundings. Easy to find and beautiful views. Peace and quiet, you wake up to birds every morning and nothing else. Comfortable and cosy space, every basic available (salt, pepper, oil, shower gel, shampoo etc-washing machine with 3in1 tablets an added bonus) plenty of space. Can’t fault it. We will definitely be back, would love to spend a bit more time exploring the area.

  • The location is beautiful and outstanding. The facilities are superb. This is not a place to stay if you want to cook cordon blue meals. However, if you are happy with microwave meals and avail yourself of the excellent food in pubs around Petworth then this is the place for you.

    Bernadette2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was excellent, it’s a beautiful location not to far from a Petworth town. Lived the underfloor heating!

    Elizabeth2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space in the most peaceful location, with rolling fields on all sides. The picturesque town of Petworth is a 5 minute drive away, with excellent pubs even closer (a particular s/o to the Welldiggers). The flat is well maintained and will all amenities you could need - would love to visit again.

  • The Cartshed is a lovely old building which has been tastefully decorated and true to its roots. Kitchen amenities were great and the location is so quiet. We had a very enjoyable stay.

  • Downstairs is more spacious and stylish than the photos. Refurbished to a lovely high standard. Perfect for a weekend in the countryside

  • What an amazing place! The barn is incredible, so cosy and located in such a beautiful area. We had everything we could have wanted, from the beautiful grounds, to wonderful walks and friendly nearby pubs. Rebecca gave us loads of really helpful tips about places to visit, which we took advantage of, and we’ll definitely be back in the near future!

    Ben2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Rebecca’s. The barn is very cozy, nicely decorated. It was very nice to wake up and be surrounded by nature & animals. We enjoyed a great walk and lunch at the local pub that Boris recommended. Thank you both.

  • Rebecca’s place was cosy yet stylish. It was ideal for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of London life. We arrived in the evening and Rebecca welcomed us and gave us wonderful suggestions for things to do. It was clean and a really relaxing weekend away. Thank you Rebecca - hope to come back again in the future.

  • Just wonderful. A relaxing stay in a gorgeous place with very lovely hosts.

    Katy2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Rebecca's place was just the best experience. We had come from abroad to have a break from the heat only to arrive in the middle of a heatwave (not for too long luckily). The barn was just perfect for us and the pool a very unexpected pleasure especially for our children and grandchildren who came to visit while we were there. Can def recommend the Fox and The Richard Onslow for food. Great location and very friendly hosts. Thanks so much.

    Christine2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing stay. The place was filled with personal touches that gave the place a beautiful homely and relaxing feel. My wife and I would certainly stay again and would recommend this barn. Rebecca was a fantastic host who knew when to give us our privacy but was also available whenever we had any questions. Thank you so much!

  • This was our second stay at the Reading Rooms and even though the weather didn't quite match our previous trip we still loved our stay. A cosy, clean, and quiet space to hideaway for a weekend or use as a base for some beautiful local walks. An additional note - we don't have a car and can thoroughly recommend Mac's local hire for taxi needs! On both trips they've gone out of their way to help us.

    Jack2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The property... The Reading Rooms make for a very pretty countryside getaway. Photos are very accurate - it is a beautiful space - beds are very comfy and there is also a lovely big bath! Check in was self-service and really easy. Nice pubs nearby too. Getting there... We actually travelled by train, getting off at Billingshurst. While I am sure it is easier to drive, rest assured you can still get to and from the property using a local cab company - it took about 15mins and cost just over £10.

  • Beautiful place. Had an amazing weekend

    Peter2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second stay and it was even nicer than last time. Such a relaxing and cool space . You don't have to go outside inside out with the scenic windows as you feel like your outside but very warm and cosey. When we arrived the heating was on with egg, milk and bread ready for us and the place is immaculately clean. The correspondence is perfect and is all very straight forward. You feel nice and isolated and very private without being that far from stuff. Saw a deer hoping through the woods and a pheasant going for a walk around the cabin. The new hobs are great and we managed to whip us some great meals on them. Fridge and freezer perfect for all the supplies. Fell asleep with the moon out the circular windows. Excellent bliss. We will be back no doubt. Can't recommend it enough.

    Stevross2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing airship, super clean and cosy. Had everything you would want. Definitely needed the wellies for the woods as advised and the slippers for inside so thanks for giving us the heads up :). Loved the log fire, that made it for the evening. X

  • My partner and I had a wonderful two night stay in the airship. Nestled in the woods, with its large dome windows either side we really felt at one with nature. The airship was warm and cosy, in the mid of winter during a stormy night. The host was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely come back again soon!

  • My girlfriend and I spent a weekend outside London at the Spaceship. Coming from London, it is a great option as within 1h by car you can be out in the nature. The space is great and communication was easy. I'd definitely recommend considering this as a special stay out in the woods!

  • I rented this space for myself, husband and two young children. Anne-Marie provided a travel crib and high chair when she saw I had baby. She made the couch into a bed for my five year old as well. We had access to her whole property which was fun for us to roam. I will be recommending this space to friends and family.

    Jill2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house is a perfect tranquil place for an extended weekend break. Anne-Marie and Roger when first class hosts and always at hand fir help or any local information.

    Miguel2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The setting of this comfortable accommodation is really special: a lovely country location, magnificent gardens with access to numerous walks, a copse, sheep and chickens, and birdsong by the lily pond. Oh yes - great hosts too!

    Harry2019-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely wonderful private suite from which to explore the beautiful Surrey and West Sussex countryside. The house is located near a picture perfect village with farm animals nearby, a pub and great walking trails all around plus it's only a short drive to incredible castles and the beach (with tube access or the airports not much farther). I have stayed with Anne-Marie several times and beyond her being a gracious and warm host her place is always exactly as listed, very neat, very comfortable and picture perfect (it's located in a glorious old house with incredible gardens). Without a doubt one of the best airbnbs in the region and a perfect place to enjoy a charming bit of the English countryside.

Decorated to a very high standard, good quality furniture and lovely little touches with candles and fresh flowers on arrival. Would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone who wants to escape to the country with luxury accommodation. Thanks again to Liz for a fabulous stay.

    Nathan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It looks just like the photos but bigger. I found the large space so relaxing, but at the same it all feels very cosy. The space is self contained, but as Liz describes, it is inside her house so essentially you may hear people going up and down the stairs - I didn't find it to be an issue at all. The space is beautifully furnished. Liz is a wonderful host. I would definitely come again.

There is an adjoining wall with their family home so you can sometimes hear them but very rarely and they didn't disturb us at all. The pub down the road also served a fantastic roast. • The property is spacious, clean and full of character. Kenneth was able to give us tips on anything we were unsure of, from cooking on an aga to the best hiking spots in the area.

    Laura2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location was beautiful! Ken was extremely helpful from first enquiry to staying at his place, with quick responses and going out of his way to make it a comfortable stay! A lovely, peaceful location, perfect for our trip!

    Benjamin2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We came and stayed here for two nights while we came down for a family wedding. We were welcomed very warmly by Kenneth who had everything ready for us and made sure our every need was attended to and all bases were covered. Our rooms were very comfortable and we loved the big sitting room with the woodburning stove. Although only really here for sleeping and breakfast in the morning we had a lovely time here and would definitely return again. The only minor issue would be the noisy boiler at 6am in the morning and the very strong smells of oil from the central heating but understandably this can’t be helped and some are more sensitive to it than others. All in all a lovely stay and we cannot thank Kenneth enough for being so attentive and welcoming us with open arms into his lovely historic home in the country side.

    Andy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

For buying any food/drinks we have Co-Op which is 10 min walk For kids there is Little Street (Its a Role Play) - they have a 60 minutes session and its quite good if you have kids and want to keep them busy Do not miss the 'Milk Churn' for breakfast which is approx 0.5 miles. Do try the Classic Cheese sandwiches which are out of the world. They make their cheese in-house.

  • A cosy lovely house with lots of extras to make our stay very comfortable. Would definitely recommend and would stay again in the future

  • Picture perfect little house in a beautiful location. Only sad I couldn't stay longer! Great hosts. Would recommend!

  • Lovely location, comfortable beds, so many thoughtful touches, even mayonnaise and honey. Really peaceful and comfortable.

    Liza2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Summer House was a lovely base for our weekend away. It is very comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The kitchen unit was perfectly adequate for self catering with two electric hobs, combination microwave and good size fridge with small freezer compartment. The weather was unkind to us but I would imagine in drier weather the patio and garden would be a delightful place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We would recommend the Chequers Inn for an excellent meal and found Rudgwick Cars to be the most reasonable taxi service.

  • This beautiful little cabin is the perfect escape to the country. We arrived in the dark but thankfully we had Will’s clear instructions which led us to ‘The Pavillion’. Straight away we were bowled over by the extremely clean, cosy and welcoming space. No TV, no WIFI- absolute perfection as we were in desperate need for a break from London. The kitchenette had all the necessary essentials for heating up dinner. Will and Jay’s homemade Welsh cakes were lovely little treat for dessert too! The bed was incredibly comfortable and it was lovely to go to sleep hearing nothing and wake up to the birds singing. We were blown away when we woke up to our surroundings- beautiful woodland and green fields. Will and Jay were the perfect hosts. They were extremely helpful and always on hand to offer help if it was needed. We spent a lovely afternoon in Petworth followed by a blustery beach walk in West Wittering. We can’t wait to return. Thank you Will and Jay.

    Sophie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely peaceful place. Would highly recommend. Will is very helpful and answered all of our queries. Will be back in the summer!

    Aimee2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place to stay - such a beautiful location, and so cozy and comfortable. Despite being a 'tiny house' it feels very airy inside. Everything was spotless and there were lots of little touches like nice teabags and cakes. Lots to do and see within short driving distance, plus a great wooded walk straight from the property. Jay was on hand to warmly help with local tips which were well worth hearing. We will definitely be back.

    Eilidh2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The name says it all - a cosy cottage in the woods. We were looking for a quiet weekend away from the city and this little spot was brilliant - the hosts were so welcoming and we caught Petworth at its finest with a sunny walk in the park and festive Christmas market as the sun set. Highly recommended!

    Helen2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay highly recommended!

    Eddy2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great little escape. Nice and remote whilst being close to a selection of towns and villages. Lovely local walks and a good choice of pubs. The Pavillon itself was charming and very clean. The electric radiator took a while to heat up the space and no Wi-Fi made our lack of phone signal a small issue. Would highly recommend to friends and family though!

    Todd2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here, the cabin was immaculately clean on arrival. Will kept in touch in the run up to our stay and gave us some advice as to good spots to eat. The bed is very comfy and lovely touches like the biscuits and cafetiere made us feel at home instantly. It's a great location to explore the downs. I'm not sure if it'd be a little chilly in there in the winter months but we'd definitely stay here again, especially in summer when you could sit out with the BBQ! Thank you so much Will and Jay!

  • The lodge was beautiful! Everything was as expected and described. There were lots of personal touches throughout the property and was spotless. Barbara was very flexible about when we arrived after driving down late from work and allowing us to just let ourselves into the property but despite being late, Barbara still greeted us when we arrived, showing us round. It was down a lane, privately gated and was easy to find. The grounds were beautiful and would love to stay again in the summer to really appreciate how beautiful they were. It was so quiet and the bed was extremely comfy - best night sleep we’d had in a long time. It’s close to Cranleigh where we had a lovely meal! Barbara beforehand told us of some lovely places to eat in the area so we could plan our weekend. Will definitely be staying again!

    Chloe2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very nice, spacious enough for us and our toddler, and the gardens are very safe (enclosed by a full wall) so that was great with a little one. Very comfortable, quiet, but only a short drive to nearby Cranleigh with shops and restaurants etc. A great base from which to explore the Surrey hills!

    Tom2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a glorious find! I stayed at Barbara's cottage when I was in Surrey for a wedding, and it was absolutely perfect. The setting is rural, but also accessible to nearby Cranleigh (a lovely village by the way), and is so peaceful, surrounded by beautiful gardens and big trees. The cottage itself was spotless, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay - Barbara was thoughtful enough to accommodate my dietary requirements with the breakfast options that she leaves in the cottage, which I thought was really a nice touch. The bed was SUPER comfy, and the linen felt really luxurious. The night before the wedding, I really enjoyed the DVD collection too. Barbara was such a lovely host. She gave me all the information I needed, and made me feel so at home. I felt like I'd known her all my life! I really appreciated such generous hospitality, and would stay again in a heartbeat. I think I'd like to come back just to chill and clear my head space - it's that kind of place. Thanks again Barbara! And I will miss your gorgeous cat too! Holly

  • My wife and I had the most amazing night at Barbara’s stunning cottage in Surrey. The setting was incredible - so peaceful, picturesque and secluded - and only 5 mins from Cranleigh, where was had a lovely dinner and is a very pretty village. Barbara greeted us when we arrived and throughout was the most hospitable and welcoming host we’ve ever had through Airbnb. The cottage itself is so well equipped and was sparkling clean. The bed was comfy and we had our best night sleep in ages. The gardens surrounding the cottage are just spectacular too - I can’t even imagine how beautiful they would be in the summer. We could have walked around them for hours if it were a bit warmer! After just a night we were sad to leave but we will be returning soon for another romantic getaway from London. Thanks again Barbara! See you soon x

  • We had a lovely stay at Barbara’s. The property is down a gravel track and I got lost on the way there but Barbara was great and gave me directions to the cottage. I was later than planned and Barbara was very flexible. The cottage is as described and had everything we needed - worth mentioning the oven/hob is table top so not suitable for a large feast but perfectly fine for cooking a quick meal for two. Bed is comfy and bathroom is very clean and modern. We used the hot tub which was lovely, although close to the main house. All in all, Barbara is a wonderful host and all her little personal touches made the cottage feel very cosy and homely.

    Lindsay2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Because me and my partner are living in North London, we wanted our vacation to be a get away from the loud city. Staying at Barbaras was just perfect for this! The spacious garden was lovely and quiet and the cottage itself is equipped with everything that you need. We cooked, had a little Barbecue and even watched a movie out of her big DVD Collection. Sometimes in the morning her beautiful Bengal cat was greeting us with a friendly meow. Barbara herself was very kind and helpful with every question that we had. All together it was just amazing. Thank you!

    Fabienne2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara was very welcoming and helpful. The cottage is a lovely place to stay and so peaceful, if you are looking for a relaxing experience then I highly recommend you stay here. Barbara left a lot of information on places to go/ eat, which was very helpful as we never stayed near the surrounding area before!

We are in the Surrey Hills AONB, 10 minutes from Godalming and 15 from Gomshall and Petworth. The garden overlooks miles of open fields, hills and woods stretching toward the South Downs National Park and south coast. Typically we welcome guests visiting family or for a wedding, for a UK tour, for summer work, a cycling trip or perhaps attending the annual Wings & Wheels airshow. Nearby are many National Trust sites including Black Down, Hydon Ball, Winkworth Arboretum and Petwork House.
We are between two classic country villages in a very quiet and tranquil area. To the north is Loxhill with a white deer park and sunken Roman fort, and from which there is a beautiful view of the downs to the South-East. To the south is the South Downs National Park (AONB), and we are poised at a high point to see across them from the garden and your flat itself.
We are opposite the 'white deer' park. White deer are bred and sent to other parts of Europe to re-populate White Deer colonies. There is a nice easy circular walk along a peaceful traffic-free country lane nearby. Our local church is unique in Britain and has wonderful 19C 'High Church' painted murals. The massive old English oak tree in my garden is reputedly 400 years old.

We are lucky to welcome back several repeat guests.
Rudgwick is nestled between the North and South Downs, close to the Surrey Hills but also an easy drive to the coast. If you love nature, you will love it here. There is a vast choice of walks and cycle rides available on the doorstep. There's loads to do in the area and some great pubs and places to eat. At either end of our lane you will find a pub. One is about a 20 minute walk and the other is just five minutes walk. Both pubs serve food and provide takeaways. Also down the lane is a really cute cafe called The Milk Churn. It is owned by the local farmer who produces Sussex Charmer (cheese) from his herd of cows. Here you can get a bacon buttie in the morning or fantastic cheese on toast for lunch. Next to the Milk Churn is a micro-brewery where you can book a tour, or just pop in and taste the local brew. You will also find a pretty church and a well stocked, open-all -hours shop where you can buy any provisions you might need (including freshly baked bread and croissants!). There are some really beautiful local walks (the local woods are a carpet of wild flowers including bluebells and wild onions during the Spring), or if you have your own transport there are loads of places to visit close-by. Guildford is great for shopping or hiring a rowing boat to take a trip down the river. Petworth Park is about a half hour drive away. The coast is less than an hour. Fisher's Farm is lovely for children and only about a quarter of an hour's drive. The quintessentially English village of Shere is about a 20 minute drive - this is where Holiday and Bridget Jones were filmed. Arundel Castle is well worth a visit, as is Chichester. I could go on and on..... Rudgwick has become a cycling mecca as it is situated just off the Downs Link (a disused railway track from Guildford to the coast) now used by cyclists and walkers. The famous Olympic cycle route is just a few miles down the road. A wash down area for cycles and doggies can be provided, if necessary. Gatwick Airport is a convenient 30 minute drive. The view from The Annexe window is of our home, The Old Vicarage dating back to 1450.

  • This was such a perfect self contained flat above an oak car port with a welcoming host, full of extra special touches like home made jam, personalised welcome letter and quick responses from owner. Place was spotless and well equipped, cosy, quiet and in a beautiful location, onsite with owner for help if needed, but also detached from their residence with a private self contained feel too. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back when in the area again.

    Jill2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Although we missed Alison on our arrival a message was sent to us saying if we needed anything to just shout which was lovely! The Annexe was just as described and the extra touches of breakfast bits, extensive welcome pack with places to eat and visit (we had a dog with us) and little washroom bits in a cupboard incase you had forgotten anything was great! Lovely setting, very quiet and a great base for our weekend break, thank you ever so much. We would not hesitate to stay again !

In the heart of the countryside, we are only an hour from London and also within easy reach of Gatwick and Heathrow airports. • Such a cosy bed and breakfast! We had a lovely welcome, everything was sparkling clean and the bed was very comfy ! Loved the touches in the bathroom as well as the mini fridge - fab for making tea and coffee in the morning. Our host couldn’t have made us feel more at home. Would 100% recommend !

  • We couldn’t have wished for a more welcoming host. We really felt we were being looked after! Incredibly relaxing, peaceful and comfortable - with great food! We only came for a wedding, but are thinking of returning just for the quality of the stay.

    Edward2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay here, and a great night's sleep - great pillows! The room was beautiful and had everything we needed. Steve made us feel really welcome in Sally's absence and served a great breakfast - thanks also for the excellent directions when we managed to get ourselves horribly lost! Recommended to my London based friends when they want a break from city life within easy travelling distance.

  • Sarah's venue is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and in a great location with easy access to towns and villages but still situated in the countryside for secludedness. Sarah was a very attentive host and was a pleasure to me. Couldn't recommend enough! Especially if you want a lovely private getaway in the countryside!

    Jess2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent, albeit brief, stay at Bearsfield. This is a great little spot, particularly if you are attending a wedding at one of the many venues nearby. Sarah’s communication was always very prompt and the self-contained annex is very comfortable, with all you need for a short break. Lovely touches included fresh bread and some essentials on arrival. Thanks for a great stay!

Canfields is primarily an organic beef farm, nestling between the North and South Downs, just an hour from London. It lies in West Sussex almost directly on the Surrey border, with tents sited on the edge of woodland. The farm is unique in having our classic tents for up to 6 people, plus a tent for groups of up to 10 people. Another new feature are water activities at Canfields: the outdoor water-play area of waterfall shower with sandpit. Canfields has a tradition of sale from the farm gate, and milk was sold from here back in 1948. The entire friendly herd of 30 suckler cows can be traced back to three foundation mothers, Peggy, Fox and Delight, whose well-being is noted by inspectors as being excellent and stress-free. Unfortunately, dogs can't be accommodated at Canfields. The fantastic bluebell woods are perfect for den-building, stream-damming and deer, butterfly and woodpecker spotting. On the farm, you can collect eggs from the Loman chickens and get to know the Goodwood lambs, which you can help bottle feed in the spring. The organic cows in the field next to you and horses at livery will be happy to keep you company. A great timber undercover area at the camp's centre means the weather won't inhibit togetherness or the barbecue taste sensations! In front of the tents, a rustic playground and play pitch is ideal for football and badminton outside, and more. Excellent walking and cycling is on your doorstep on the South Downs Way, and scenic towpath walks and canal boat trips can be taken locally. Fishing can be enjoyed at Furnace lakes Fisheries nearby. The village of Rudgwick boasts four local pubs headed up by the Fox just ten minutes' walk away. Try racing at Glorious Goodwood, Fontwell or Ascot, or golf at any of five courses within five miles. The market towns of Chichester and Horsham are also nearby. Please note: there is no electricity in this location

Our Church is beautiful !! 11th Century Picturesque and interesting to visit and explore the history The Grade I listed church of St. John the Baptist is built of local sandstone and roofed with Horsham stone slabs.[3] Herringbone masonry and the style of column capitals indicate that the nave is early twelfth century.[4] The north aisle is thirteenth century and the tower fifteenth. The tower carries a peel of six bells and a clock. There are four stained glass windows by Charles Eamer Kempe.[ The HalfMoon pub(Jodie Kidd) in the village is a lovely pub Our village shop is well stocked and well known for delicious fresh organic ice creams and fish and Chips on a Thursday In 2011, Kirdford Village Stores won 'Best Corner Shop' in the Telegraph's Best Small Shops in Britain Awards. • Well designed barn conversion with good facilities. Both bedrooms on the ground floor had en-suite bathrooms which was very useful for our elderly relative. Very quiet rural location and ideally placed for visiting Petworth. We were delighted to hear owls hooting at night and see three roe deer in the garden in the morning! Sam and Angel had helpful advice about where to eat and the village shop was well stocked and only a short walk away. The only thing to be alert to was that access to the upstairs bedroom wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility problems.
