Coronavirus:Watt Cottage is in a remote village with lovely walks. The local well stocked shop is offering delivery if needed, all restaurants in Bildeston are now offering takeaways. Key collection via lockbox You'll love Watt Cottage, it's full of charm and character. The cottage is 16th century grade ll listed, retaining many of its original features including an original wood burning stove. It makes the most delicious pizzas and we provide all the dough ingredients for you to give it a go..
Wattisham is set in the heart of rural Suffolk, and our cottage is the perfect getaway for families, couples and friends. Relax in the secluded garden, take a stroll across the open fields and visit charming medieval villages close by. Despite a feeling of being in the middle of no where, Watt cottage is easy to get to and is well placed for exploring beautiful suffolk.
Wattisham is a farming village surrounded by fields and open country side. Sometimes we have more horses passing than cars. Just of your door step you will find beautiful country walks into Bildeston where there is a village shop, pubs and restaurants. In the local surrounding area you will find farm shops/farm cafes, tea rooms, fishing lakes, horse riding and much more. Only 15 minutes drive to historic Lavenham with outstanding Medieval Architecture, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants . There are large supermarkets in both Hadleigh and Stowmarket.
  • Nice old cottage in the middle of the Suffolk countryside

  • Stunning cottage with amazing period features in a lovely peaceful location. The pizza oven is such a fun touch. Would recommend the King's Arms in the village too - such a friendly pub. And the local town of Lavenham is beautiful. (Both in Sammy's recommendations.) It was a perfect spot for a weekend away. Thanks so much!

  • A great fun place to stay. From the outside the property belies it’s age, step inside and it’s historic character becomes apparent. Lovely quiet location, easy to find food and drink supplies nearby. Everything you need for cooking provided. Will happily return.

  • A wonderful quirky cottage, in peaceful surroundings. We had a wonderful long weekend. Didn’t want to leave.

    Deborah2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is absolutely amazing. Myself and my family came for a long weekend winter break and had the most perfect time. The cottage is really old and full of charm. Not sure we would get pizza of the year award but we gave it our best shot and Sammy kindly supplies all ingredients needed, just bring toppings of your choice. Sammy was very quick to respond and was keen to help when we needed her. The kids absolutely loved their bedroom and so did we. We had some great days out and ate in the Kings Head. Nigel the landlord was most helpful when we left a scarf behind. I can’t recommend the square house enough. Thanks Sammy for indeed being a “super host”

    Samantha2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying here, its a beautiful cottage, everything you need is there, great location for country walks, and the pizza oven was a great bonus

  • Lovely cosy cottage with some quirky little touches to make the stay a memorable one. Dogs settled well and the garden was very enclosed so prevented our stressy rescue dog from barking at anyone passing. Very good use of space and always at hand to help out if required with advice ans guidance

My home is a medieval guildhall, recently refurbished, it is comfortable and furnished to a high standard with all modern facilities . The garden is a beautiful space to enjoy. Drive to towns and villages such as the historic Lavenham and the market towns of Sudbury and Hadleigh and Bury St. Edmunds The rate listed of £45 is per person per night.
This is a lovely Suffolk village with many old and interresting houses , and a well attended church stands on the village green. There are lots of beautiful walks and our village shop is successfully run by volunteers. Corncraft is just a short walk down the main road and mustn't be missed, here you'll find a group of artisan businesses, a place that sells plants, Sarah's Attic ( bygones and treasures) a wonderful gift shop selling an enormous range of cards, and there is also an Art and Crafts studio. Also a cafe which serves really good food, from breakfast to afternoon tea. Corncraft has been in business by the same family for many years, well worth a visit.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Vicki’s house, where we were welcomed so warmly into Vicki’s beautiful home. Check in time was at our convenience and we had lovely cake and tea awaiting us on arrival. The space is so homely, Vicki made us feel at home straight away including our unruly two year old son! The bedrooms are lovely, the shower room also spotless and amazing shower. Thank you Vicki for all of your help and kindness to us, we would not hesitate to recommend you for all future guests.

    Sophie2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place in a lovely area of our county. Vicki was warmly welcoming and we enjoyed her company as well as her lovely house and garden. A perfect place to get away from it all which was just what we needed.

  • A gorgeous place with a thoughtful host- I loved the drawer with 'things you've forgotten' provided in it! Lovely breakfast which was eaten overlooking the colourful garden. We would recommend without hesitation.

  • Vicki is the perfect host! My stay exceeded all my expectations. To say her garden is beautiful is an understatement!

    Imran2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Vicki was the perfect host, from the tea and cake on arrival to the helpful advice, kids TV and the great breakfast in her sunny conservatory. The house is lovely and the garden is joy. We stayed for one night with our young children (4 and 6) for a family party in the area, and Vicki was so helpful. The kids loved Vicki's dogs and exploring the garden. We all had a great nights sleep and would thoroughly recommend 'The Little Guildhall.'

The Cart Lodge at The Old Rectory, Kettlebaston is just 3 miles from Lavenham. The property is at the end of a lane, set in beautiful gardens. There are lots of walks including 20 mins to the nearest pub and an hour to Lavenham. The Cart Lodge is a snug hideaway for couples and/or individuals seeking a secluded getaway or business travellers needing peace and quiet at the end of the day. Coffee/tea/fresh milk/locally baked bread and home-made jams are provided for the first morning.
Although less than 10 yards from the house, The Cart Lodge is down a slope and behind a yew hedge so totally hidden from the main house. It has its own private terrace which catches the morning and evening sun
The Old Rectory Kettlebaston is situated at the end of a half mile lane overlooking a valley in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. There are wonderful walks from the house, including a 20 minute walk across the fields to the nearest pub. However, the house is only 3.5 miles from the medieval wool town of Lavenham. As well as the villages of Long Melford, Cavendish and Clare and the market town of Bury St Edmunds, there are the National Trust Properties of Ickworth House and Flatford Mill within Constable Country just half an hour away. we are more than happy to tell our guests about our favourite, less known, places to visit
  • 100% recommend the holiday if you fancy a little getaway, the place was spotless!

  • Fantastic place! Maggie and family were great at communicating and at giving local tips for the beautiful surrounding area. The space itself is cosy and clean and cooking facilities were a bonus. Highly recommend the delicious (and reasonably priced) breakfast with lots of locally sourced produce.

    Alex2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is a great size for 2 for a short stay. We found a few supermarkets nearby to cater for our dinners on the kitchen which was more than adequate. It is in a great location, in the gardens, with morning call from the cockerel and a warm welcome from the small dog, a lovely environment and friendly hosts. It’s in a quiet spot, lovely in winter and I imagine in the warmer months too. A lovely warm building, great for cozy evenings.

    Jennifer2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say that hasn’t been said so many times by other visitors! If you’re looking for somewhere cosy and warm, tucked away in beautiful countryside with walks from the doorstep, then this is just perfect. Whilst you’re in the grounds of Maggie’s house, you’re tucked away with your own private garden. Maggie couldn’t be a better host - speedy and helpful correspondence whilst booking, really friendly when we arrived and more than happy to give us total privacy during our stay - but equally happy to help out with anything if needed. For those who want it, WiFi was reliable for streaming a film on the Netflix TV. The combi microwave oven worked really well. The fridge with spacious freezer compartment was ample for a week’s meals if you want to take your own food/meals. We can’t praise Maggie or the cottage highly enough.

    Nicholas2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is tucked away on the grounds of Maggie’s gorgeous B&B, surrounded by some fantastic walks. It was lovely and warm despite the winter weather, and Maggie is a great host. We’ll definitely be back!

    Ellie2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in a lovely location. Maggie had loads of local recommendations and we had a lovely time in nearby Lavenham - unfortunately the weather was not good but this didn't stop is enjoying our stay! Would recommend and would love to stay here again - hopefully with better weather next time!

Light ground floor 2 bedroom apartment set in the heart of the picturesque village of Bildeston. It’s the perfect location to visit historic places such as Lavenham, Kersey ( 5 mile ) and Flatford Mill made famous by John Constable's picture the Hay Wain. The village hosts 3 pubs and a well stocked village shop with post office. The church of St Mary Magdalene is just a short walk as is the Kings Pightle our very own nature reserve on the edge of the beautiful village.

Perfect location for visiting the local area of Suffolk. The village has a lovely little pub the Kings Head which is very welcoming and they serve home cooked food, best to book. It also has a nice restaurant at The Crown. For your grocery needs there is a village shop and post office.

The barn is located in the meadow behind our thatched cottage. The space is entirely your own and is self catered with a well equipped open plan kitchen.
Enjoy pastoral tranquility here whilst being within an easy 10-minute reach of the medieval charm of Lavenham. Public footpaths are close by or venture further afield to admire the beautiful Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds.

  • Sue and Mark are fantastic hosts and went out of their way to make us feel at home. They gave us a warm welcome and showed us around and gave us tips on the local area including a great local pub, the 6 Bells, for dinner. The barn is gorgeous and spacious and the views are incredible. I’d thoroughly recommend Sue & Mark’s place to other guests.

    Sam2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was very responsive and Mark was very welcoming and helped us check-in. The place was really nice and quiet just like what we wanted. Worth recommended and we wouldn't mind coming back.

  • This is a truly stunning little space if you are looking for a countryside retreat away from the city. It has everything you need if you want to stay in, self cater and chill, from a full kitchen to amazon prime and Netflix. However if you love a walk and a country pub with character and a fire then you are spoilt on this front too. Will 100% be back

    Steve2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the barn was the perfect location for a family Christmas getaway. The barn itself was clean and beautifully decorated and we were so touched by the Christmas decorations and a little Christmas tree which made our stay extra special and made us feel at home. Upon arrival we found a jar of honey from their own bees and a postcard which made us feel welcome. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner and there were even board games in the cupboard for us to play afterwards. We also appreciated the binoculars which we used to have a closer look at all the wildlife just outside our window. We were thrilled to spot pheasants, muntjac deer, hares and even an owl during our stay. The barn is a perfect place to relax and slow down for a few days.

    Driton2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect bolthole for a weekend relaxing, just what was needed. Loved seeing all the wildlife from the sofa too. Close to lots of nice cosy pubs. Sue and Mark are absolutely lovely and leave you to it once they have made sure you are comfortable - they even lent us wellies following the onslaught of rain in the previous few days! Thank you :)

    Helen2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful and beautiful place to stay if you want to escape the city. Spacious, clean and homely, the barn is really a home away from home. Sue and Mark are excellent hosts who made us feel very welcome.

Wendy wagon is a unique, calm, peaceful and cosy home on wheels. She sits high at the end of a farm track in Lavenham, Suffolk, with long views over the countryside. A perfect place to unwind, listen to the birds, watch the sky , light a fire and just relax. Lavenham is famous for its medieval buildings and range of independant shops and fine restaurants.
Wendy wagon is a completely unique very large shepherds hut on wheels. We built her with the help of two skilled carpenters, she is fully insulated with sheeps wool, lined with ply and clad in Larch. The wagon was designed to run on solar power although we now also have an electrical hook up. The wagon was our home for 3 years while we managed the build of our new Eco home, however there are no longer cooking facilities within the wagon. I do provide crockery and cutlery and plenty of tea and coffee , There is ample fridge space to store food. There is a King size bed with feather and down quilts and pillows and cotton bedsheets. There is a woodburner and electric heater so it is always warm and cosy. There are electric lights, kettle, hairdryer and a fridge . An iron and ironing board can be supplied if needed. There are no cooking facilities in Wendy Wagon and we do not accept dogs. As there is no running water in the wagon, bottled water will be supplied. The toilet, shower and washing up facilities are located in the craft room approximately 50mts away . There is also a composting toilet close by specifically for use by Wendy Wagons' guests. We have wonderful views of the sky and fields beyond and the nearby footpath is part of a circular walk through the trees and fields around Lavenham. Wendy wagon sits behind our workshops and house in her own space. Breakfast is supplied in Wendy for you to help yourself ( Muesli, milk , yoghurt, fruit juice). If the weather is calm it is possible to build a fire outside, snuggle up in blankets , sit on the stargazer benches and just watch the sky and listen to the owls. We are in a dark night zone
We are situated on arable farmland above Lavenham. There are hedges, trees, lovely walks and quite often buzzards, hare and deer can be seen. Lavenham is famous for its timber framed buildings and fine church.
  • such a great little spot to enjoy a weekend away from the city. the wagon has a great fire and a cosy interior that is just walking distance from some great pubs in the village. Highly recommended

    Michaela2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the wagon for two nights and it made an already lovely trip that extra bit more lovely! Sue is a great host, easy to get hold of and provides great suggestions for the local area. The wagon is clean and there was even a home made tea loaf on the side for breakfast. Open fire whilst stargazing was a real treat. It might seem odd to say but even the duvet was absolutely tip top - excellent choice of tog!! Haha Have recommended to friends and family, the perfect little place for a short stay! Thanks Sue (and best of luck with the glazing, I'm very envious of your craft room!)

    Mark2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a fab space! The locality was perfect - being able to watch the stars at night sitting in the field under a blanket - hot drink in hand - no lights to spoil the view. 'Wendy' was cosy and inviting, quirky and spotlessly clean. If you're not keen on the outside 'composting' toilets (which are actually quite fun - his and her's loo's with a peephole view across the field) then don't worry as there is a great toilet/shower room for use close by with all you could need to hand.

    Ali2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a gorgeous stay in Wendy Wagon. The scenery is beautiful and the wagon is kitted our with all the basics that you need. Very quiet but also only a short walk into Lavenham. Would stay again!

  • Wow! Snow Cottage is an absolute dream. I wish I could move in and call this my home forever. My partner and I spent a magical weekend here in late October. We were greeted by Mark, who is a welcoming host full of fantastic hospitality and local tips. We felt like we were greeted by a friend, not a stranger. Mark showed us around his little patch of heaven in the Suffolk countryside, imparting his knowledge on places to eat, drink and visit locally. The cottage is beautifully decorated in an eclectic, effortless style. Everywhere you look there is something to catch your eye and spark your interest. The welcome basket of breakfast goodies was divine and something I admit I had been looking forward to after reading other guests comments. It did not disappoint! Soft jazz set a wonderful atmosphere for our arrival and leaving the cottage to trek across the field to the local pub was hard but somehow we managed! The White Horse in Edwardstone has an amazing microbrewery and had a cider festival in when we visited too. The medieval village of Lavenham is well worth a visit too. Snow Cottage is a fantastic place to explore the Suffolk countryside from, if you can bear to leave the cottage itself. Thank you Mark for a wonderful weekend. We most definitely will be back for more.

  • Communication was great before and during our stay. Wendy’s place is exactly as described. It’s clean, spacious and has everything that you would need. The location was perfect for us and there is plenty to do around the area.

    Nilpa2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Property is lovely, spacious and clean. The kitchen and conservatory area are definitely the highlights. A lovely garden for relaxing in, which gets good sun. The kitchen is really well stocked with utensils, pans and some condiments/spices/seasonings. The area itself is quiet at night, but can be a bit noisy in the morning/during the day depending on the neighbours (during our stay next door neighbour was working on a motorbike then revving it up and down the street). The house is in a quiet street located on edge of town, 10mins drive to Hadleigh, easy to get in and out from. Street is dark at night so watch your footing when getting home, remember to leave the light on! Great value property and I'd definitely stay there again if I ever went down that way.

    Kas2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean, modern, spacious and comfortable with everything we needed thoughtfully provided. The weather was beautiful during our stay so we could take advantage of the outside area. There is parking right outside the door and the village centre is not far away. A lovely property, thank you Anna and Wendy.

    Elizabeth2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely well-equipped modern house in a gorgeous village. The local shop, restaurant and pub are only a 2 minute walk away. We stayed over for a wedding and could not have asked for a better space. The hosts were always quick to respond and super helpful as we were dithering about adding on a day each side (very glad we did). Our toddler loved the garden with mini climbing frame and scooter. We didn’t get to use the gas barbecue on this occasion. Good driveway parking. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. You can take long hikes from your doorstep. The shower is really powerful too, which is always a plus.

  • Great space, bigger than I expected with plenty of room for 4 to relax. Kitchen compact but has everything you’d need inc a full sized oven and good range of pots. Useful basket of essentials like milk and coffee was left for us plus a few treats and home grown tomatoes from next door. Thank you! Outside space was lovely for breakfast in the sun and there’s even a grassed area with games for sunny days. Parking for 1 car convenient- right next to the barn.

    Emma2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place located behind the well-stocked village grocery store. Hosts are great. Very accessible and friendly. Away from the main road that runs through the village, and therefore good for our two-year old to run around. The village is quiet, with a friendly pub that has its own beer and a child-friendly beer garden and that provides dinner a few nights a week. Surroundings are beautiful, with lots of walking options on public footpaths.

    Frank2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are very friendly! The barn is a nice and cozy place to stay for some days. Well equipped kitchen (milk in the frigde on arrival, also coffee, tea, spices...), shampoo etc. in the bathroom and enough place to store all clothes in the cupboards. We didn´t use most of the things provided, as we were out for sightseeing the whole day. But looks like everything you need for a vacation stay is there, even books and videos for a rainy day. We enjoyed very much having a good breakfast on the terrace with fresh baked croissants from the shop. You get very good value for your money! Just don´t come with a big van, access to the barn is quite narrow.

    Christina2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Helen’s barn house was the perfect getaway home to explore the Suffolk region. It has everything you would need. We will definitely be back.

  • Bank House Barn is a great place to stay. Very quiet, peaceful location. Lovely garden - great for kids. The living space was good, with a huge, comfy sofa. The kitchen was small, but had everything you needed for a wonderful stay. The bedrooms and bathroom were great.

  • Helen’s gorgeous place is in a superb location for magnificent day trips or for just hanging out more locally at stunning Laverton or walks along the river between Dedham and Flatford. Each village and town in the local area is gorgeous and the accomodation is not only spacious, clean and very comfortable but also ideally located for lots of adventures. Don’t miss the church in Bildeston and the croissants at Helens store are super! We highly recommend the property. John and Basia

A recently renovated Cottage, ideally located in the centre of the Medieval wool town of Lavenham, uniquely benefitting from a private parking place. Located a few minutes walk to the market square and high street. Lavenham itself is regarded as one of the finest examples of a medieval town in the UK. The town has over 300 buildings listed, being of architectural and historical importance. Constable Court has been renovated to a high standard and benefits from all modern conveniences.
Constable Court is located centrally to all immenities. Easy walking to all pubs, shops, galleries, tea rooms, ice cream parlour and restaurants. Suitable for honeymooners and families with 2 spacious bedrooms offering super king beds or one bedroom with twin beds if preferred. We also benefit from allocated parking to the rear of the property. A well behaved dog can be accommodated on request at the time of booking, although restricted to the downstairs of the house.
Lavenham is a truly unique town. Constable Court is situated in arguably the most prestigious street in Lavenham. Much has been filmed in Lavenham including Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2; Lovejoy ‘Last Tango in Lavenham’ and Vincent Price film ‘Witch Finder General’, to name a few. Lavenham can even claim a connection to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, as poet Jane Taylor wrote this while living here. The Church of St Peter and St Paul overlooks the town and is a fine example of Late Perpendicular Gothic architecture.
  • Wonderful place centrally located, has very thing you need. Enjoyed our stay.

  • We loved our stay in Lavenham and at Matt and Lorna's place. The house was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished and also bigger than we expected. The bedrooms and linens were high quality and the beds were so big and comfortable. It was also perfectly located in a quiet road close to Lavenham High Street and the market square. Matt and Lorna were really helpful and responsive hosts who were on hand to help us with any questions and problems we had. To top it all, we thought it was great value too. I would definitely like to return one day and highly recommend it to others.

    Kate2019-12-20T00:00:00Z

  • This is an outstanding cottage. Spacious, clean, comfortable with excellent furnishings and facilities. Lavenham is a really beautiful village, everything within easy walking distance of the cottage. Being able to park behind the cottage was just an added bonus, and very much appreciated. Excellent communication with Matt. Easy access to the cottage. Matt even contacted me to say we could arrive early as the cottage was ready for us. Many restaurants to choose from. We particularly enjoyed a fabulous lunch at ‘The Great House’ to celebrate my sister’s birthday. A very enjoyable afternoon at Fullers Mill Garden in West Stow, and an evening at TheTheatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds were two highlights of our stay. Oh, and Constable country was a delight! Thank you Matt for opening your home for us. Highly recommended.

    Aimee2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous and blissful escape! Johanna was a lovely host and her accomodation is fabulous. A comfy bed, a wonderful shower with plenty of hot water and it's so peaceful here. Toasty and warm on arrival, under floor heating with individual thermostats on each room. We particularly loved the extra treats left for breakfast, going above expectations, including oranges to squeeze, eggs, home made preserves and yogurt. Everything is here to self cater with no issues. We also enjoyed relaxing on the sofa looking out onto the walled pool area. The wifi and phone signal isn't that great and there is no TV. The perfect escape from life. Look forward to staying again :-).

  • Another fantastic stay at this gorgeous property. We could not recommend it highly enough.

    Kate2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place, felt private, was cosy but lots of space, stylish, super log-burner, big comfortable bed. Loved it.

    Chloe2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Natalie’s Airbnb. It’s very spacious and comfortable, especially having the wood burner. Delicious homemade bread and humus too. I’ll definitely return the next time I am working in Ipswich.

    Stephanie2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at the Strawberry box! The local area was great for exploring with lots of places of interest, shops and pubs. The Sonos speaker was great and we enjoyed chilling out by the log burner. First time using a smart shower and it was tremendous! Thank you for a fantastic stay.

    Amy2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • I messaged Natalie when I found her place as I was looking for somewhere for me and my friends to host our annual ‘Christmas Day’. Natalie was more than accommodating and allowed us to check in early and even sent me pictures of the facilities to ensure we had everything we would need to make our Christmas dinner. We were greeted by her partner who showed us round and told us how to use the log burner etc. The barn sleeps 2 and there was 6 of us so Natalie kindly added additional chairs to ensure we could all sit at the dinner table. We didn’t require an overnight stay but the bedroom and bathroom facilities were impressive and very well presented. Would highly recommend and can’t thank Natalie enough for her help in making sure this was a ‘Christmas Day’ to remember!!

    Lauren2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Right from the warm welcome we were given when we arrived we knew we were in for a treat! The barn is beautiful and really well spec’d, from the cool funky shower to the Sonos speaker. We especially enjoyed having a play of the piano, and the wood burner was perfect for an autumnal evening in! The complementary bread, milk, oil and hummus was really appreciated, and delicious! A fantastic stay, one we’d love to do again! Thank you!

    David2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • "Too long - didn't read" summary: Lovely cosy escape, welcoming hosts, pics don't do it justice! Full review: We arrived at Colchester and got a cab straight from the station to the strawberry box (approx £25). On arrival we were greeted by Andrew who offered to drive us to the local (fantastic) farm shop. It is expensive but very worth the money. We were also lent bikes to use during our stay. The apartment was spotlessly clean, and felt really warm, welcoming and high spec. A really great modern country retreat. We were gifted some Homemade muffins, milk and hummus produced by the farm. We loved using the wood burning stove and the great kitchen to really make ourselves at home. Natalie and Mark introduced themselves and were on hand whenever we needed anything but left us to our own devices, we never felt like we were imposing or that our privacy was at risk. A perfect host/guest balance! We would say though, despite the fact that the pictures convinced us..they don't do the place justice. It is larger, cosier and warmer than the pics show off and this is our only critique! We had a wonderful weekend of eating, relaxing, cycling and walking. We would 100% return.

  • Just returned from one night at Jackie's accommodation. I booked it only a few days ago. We just wanted to get away and do some walking and visit local pubs. We got exactly what we planned. The area is quite rural and you have to drive or walk (min 2.5 miles) to get to the nearest pub/town but it suited us. The circular walk from Semer to Hadleigh is one I would recommend, Stopping in Kersey on the way back for a glass of wine in the Bell Inn. Perfect. Jackie's accommodation is wonderful. It is small, but you have everything you need. I loved the touch of giving us fresh eggs from her chickens, which lived just opposite us. Jackie gave us our own privacy too which was very thoughtful of her. We will return without a doubt. I would highly recommend this accommodation for lots of reasons.

No.24 is located on Lavenham's historic high street which once saw the hustle and bustle of the village's famous wool trade. Now a days on the high street, you'll find quirky shops and delicious foodie treats all set in the wonderful crooked buildings. The house has just been fully renovation from top to bottom and comes with the huge bonus of a garden and parking. My vision has always been to make guests feel like they experience luxury hotel touches, but in the comfort of a home. With this in mind, at No.24 you'll find; Siberian goose down bedding, large Egyptian cotton towels, bathrobes, luxury Cowshed toiletries, crystal glassware, cocktail making equipment and a coffee machine (with pods), but you'll also find home comforts like cosy throws, cooking books and all the kitchen equipment you could need to make delicious dinners. For families, I can provide a stair gate, high chair, travel cot, fluffy baby towel, suitable cups/plates etc for little ones and a selection of toys. Please do let me know in advance so I can get these bits ready for you. To note, the travel cot is suitable from birth up to 36 months, up to 13kgs or a height of 85cm. No.24's ground floor is open plan, with high ceilings, you'll find; a lounge, brand new kitchen with solid oak worktops, and diner that opens onto the sunny courtyard garden that has a table for four, causal seats and a BBQ. The gardenleads on to the private parking space, which is a real bonus for Lavenham as parking can be in demand with the village being so popular for visitors. There is also a small cloakroom downstairs. There is a fabulous new heating system, but if you're like me and love a glass of wine by the fire, you can use the log burner in the lounge. From October - March, kindling, logs and lighting equipment will be left out for you to use. You should be quite toasty! In the lounge there is also comfy seating, a Smart TV, DVD player and free wifi. Upstairs is a bathroom (large shower, toilet and sink unit) with Cowshed toiletries (as seen in top London hotels) for you to use during your stay - will you choose to be relaxed or invigorated? As there is no bath I can provide a baby bath for little ones. Bedroom one has a super king bed and dressing table, and as a treat you can watch TV in bed. Bedroom two can either have two small single beds or one king - as standard it is made into a king so please let me know if you would like a twin set up. The Cowshed pillow mist should help you drift off to a wonderful night's sleep. If you're looking for peace and relaxation, there are some beautiful walks around Lavenham, in particular I would recommend the Lavenham to Long Melford railway walk. If you have a well trained, small dog you're welcome to bring them along to enjoy your break, please do let me know in advance though so I can make sure your pups stay is as comfy as yours. Lavenham is well connected to surrounding towns and villages with a bus service, the bus stop is just a few minutes walk away. Information will be available at the house. To top all this off, I'll leave a welcome hamper for you with some bits to get you started and some treats. If you have any questions, or you would like to book over Christmas or New Year please drop me a line.
There are lots of beautiful sites to see and yummy places to eat and drink in Lavenham, from a glass of wine at The Angel on the square, handmade ice cream at The Parlour, to tapas at the Greyhound, the list goes on! I'm more than happy to help with recommendations.
  • A beautiful cottage in a great location, with incredibly thoughtful hosts!

  • Lovely modern accommodation in central Lavenham. Loved staying in this newly renovated apartment with a gorgeous new bathroom and kitchen. Hanna had gone right out of her way to provide an allergy free convenience pack including gluten free bread and treats as well as beautiful fresh eggs, milk. Such a thoughtful and appreciated gesture. I loved using the toiletries, bath robe. Lots of soap and dishwashing tablets provided to keep it all fresh. We had a bit of a glitch one morning and Hanna was quick to respond and had it sorted straight away. The kitchen is well equipped with Olive oil, butter, salt pepper, foil etc. so that you can cook. This is a great apartment to stay in, there are some steep stairs to the upper floor for those with mobility issues but otherwise just beautiful.

  • We absolutely loved Number 24 in Lavenham. A gorgeous space, perfect for a relaxing break for our small family. Hanna was so helpful, with excellent information and answers to our questions, as well as such thoughtful touches for us and our small baby. We’d love to stay again!

  • We visited the house for a combined 18th birthday for my son, 80th for my mum and Christmas. This house is located ideally in Lavenham, walking distance to all the local amenities and with private parking which is rare in Lavenham and a premium perk of this house. The house is immaculate and well presented. It comes with everything that we needed and fit the three of us comfortably. Hanna was a great host, clear and timely communications and some really nice personal touches were left for us in the house. The birthday cake for my son was very touching. I cannot praise this accommodation and Hanna enough.

  • Absolutely gorgeous stay. Design of house is so well thought out. House was immaculate too! We had our two 18 month old boys with us and it was a thoroughly lovely stay. Hanna put up festive decorations and it just made our stay even more special. Hanna is a wonderful host and super quick to reply. Thank you!

  • This was a great stay! Very lovely and unique small old cottage in the centre of a historic Suffolk villlage. The whole combination felt very special and memorable. Lots of nice touches and great facilities within the cottage. I can definitely recommend the cottage to those looking for private, quiet, cosy and romantic accommodation. Katie's hosting is also superlative - always quick to reply and always v friendly. Thanks.

  • The most beautiful cottage. Immaculately clean, cosy and comfortable. It was the perfect place for our minimoon. We are already talking about staying again. Lavenham is a great place, lots of pubs and tea rooms. We loved everything about the cottage interior! All of the little touches made it feel even more luxurious xx

    Emily2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning cottage, traditional but with a fabulous lux modern twist; Cosy, comfortable, romantic and spotlessly clean. Beautiful flooring throughout, a gorgeous copper bath, well equipped kitchen and the loveliest window dressings. Katie was very responsive to messages and the welcome pack goes above and beyond what you’d expect for the very reasonable price of this let. I’d stay again in a heartbeat and thoroughly recommend to couples. Dog friendly too!

    Kerry2019-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • You won’t want to leave! We didn’t! From the moment we booked Katie was an amazing host. She was quick to respond to our questions and happy to help with anything we asked. The cottage itself is perfect. Beautifully designed and so homely. The photos do not do it enough justice. And Katie’s little personal touches can be found in every room. The cottage is in a central location in Lavenham. Literally a few steps from some great restaurants/bars. We will definitely be returning!

A calm and airy cottage, where everything has been chosen with practicality, comfort and beauty in mind.
September Cottage is a light, airy and calm cottage located in the heart of Bildeston, not far from the Market Place. A semi-detached corner cottage on a very quiet residential road. Before you read on about the cottage and the village...a few words about the current coronavirus situation and how I am dealing with it at the cottage. Cleaning: I clean the cottage myself and I’m always very particular about it. I am cleaning and then I will disinfect, paying special attention to doorknobs, light switches, remote controls etc.. As the cottage has no dishwasher, between reservations, I will now remove all glassware, crockery etc and run it, at the hottest setting, through my dishwasher. Sheets and towels will be washed at 90 degrees. I have added antibacterial wipes and spray in addition to the usual stock of washing up liquid, general cleaning spray, hand soap etc. that you will find in the kitchen/bathroom. I am wearing rubber gloves when cleaning and disinfecting and I am using a hand sanitiser before making beds and handling laundry. As it now takes me a bit longer to get the cottage ready I have very slightly altered check-in and check-out times. However, this extra time is only needed when I have a departure and arrival on the same day. Please check with me, when I can I am always happy to accommodate other arrival/departure times. Breakfast: instead of delivering a tray to the porch each morning, I will stock up the cottage fridge with breakfast items that are all still in their original packaging. So it won’t look as pretty as the usual breakfasts where I present everything in lovely jars and containers. Part of the breakfasts are fresh pastries. These I buy in frozen from our local shop and then bake them off, from frozen, each morning, I am still happy to do this (and they ARE delicious) if you so wish. As long as Woosters, the artisan Suffolk bakery, still sells at the weekly market, guests arriving on a Friday will find one of their sourdough loafs on arrival (in a brown paper bag, if you prefer a sealed loaf, please let me know). I will be doing my upmost to give you the full September Cottage experience during these uncertain times. About the cottage: The cottage is entered via a porch with a stable door, there is a small washing machine in here (drying line in the garden), peg rail, wellie rack, shoe horn and shopping basket with a small umbrella. A second door leads directly into the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped: there is an oven and cooker, a fridge (no freezer compartment, please ask us if you need ice cubes), a butlers sink and a Nespresso machine (please bring your own favourite Nespresso capsules). Electric kettle and toaster. The kitchen cupboard is stocked with Cafetière coffee, Suffolk tea bags, hot chocolate, herbal tea, sugar, Suffolk cooking oil and vinegar, pepper and salt. A small table in the corner of the kitchen is perfect for morning coffee. Breakfast: continental breakfast is included; jam/marmalade, farmhouse bread, cereals, milk, butter and eggs will be in the kitchen and we will pop a breakfast box into the porch each morning with fruit, yoghurt and pastries. The downstairs of the cottage is open plan, beams separate the kitchen from the sitting room, as well as a chimney breast with a double sided wood burner (the first basket of wood, kindling and fire lighters is included between October and April). There is a sofa, armchairs, coffee tables and a hidden television (no life TV but Netflix and Amazon Prime are available and operated by Alexa) as well as a speaker for radio and music (Alexa again). A larger dining table with four chairs sits in the bay window and the old cupboard is filled with books and leaflets on the local area as well as a few board games. There is also small writing desk with a stool and USB plug. Open steps lead from the kitchen to the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. Please note that there are handrails on the wall side only but no bannisters. The bedrooms have been kept simple with queen seized beds, bedside tables, reading lamps and radios. The beds are made up with feather duvets and crisp cotton sheets. The slightly larger bedroom has a wall to wall built in wardrobe, the smaller bedroom has a chest of drawers and a peg rail. The simple bathroom has a sink, toilet and a shower cubicle. Large bath sheets, hand towels, hand soap, shower gel and shampoo are provided. Small and medium seized dogs are very welcome 🐾. Dog treats, water bowl and dog towels are in the porch. Outside space: The front door is accessed via a shared drive. A few steps across the drive is a small, private patio garden with table and chairs and a lockable shed (should you bring bikes). Easy parking on the road just outside the cottage. The very well stocked village store and 3 pubs are only a couple of minutes walk away.
Bildeston is surrounded by fields and pretty Suffolk villages. There are lovely country walks right on the door step. The largest nearest town is Hadleigh, the nearest railway station is Stowmarket.
  • One of the best airbnb experiences I’ve had. The cottage is charming, stylish and cosy we could hardly drag ourselves away to go on a walk around the village. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away for a relaxing few days.

    Ellie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I spent a weekend in the September cottage with my family. It was my first airbnb experience. I am sure it will not be the last but I am pretty sure it will be one of the best if not the best. The cottage is beautiful and cozy., but it is the small touches by Nicola that makes the real difference. Nicola was always very responsive and came up with recommendations. The woodburner was like a dream. The cottage is very well located, two-minute walk from a very efficient shop. There are great footpaths around and board games along with Alexa and netflix/amazon prime at home. Our only problem was that two days did not suffice

    Yarkin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very relaxing, comfortable yet modern cottage. Lots of thoughtful touches made us all feel very welcome.

    Vicky2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cosy cottage with thoughtful additional touches. Lovely host.

    Ellie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a wonderful stay in September cottage. Everything was fantastic. Nicola has clearly worked hard to make the cottage warm and homely, and her hospitality was the best we’ve ever experienced. The breakfast was a highlight, delicious and so thoughtfully put together. It even included a little treat for our dog. As others have said there are so many little touches, such as fresh water for us and our dog, lots of books to read, fire already set and fresh eggs milk and bread laid out on our arrival. The fire was so cosy and we ended up spending most of our time in the cottage as it was so hard to leave! The kitchen is very well stocked and we easily cooked a meal here on one of the nights. If you want to venture out, there are lovely country walks right from the doorstep, and the Kings Head pub was very welcoming to two blow ins from the city. Food was good and plentiful. If you’re looking for a relaxing break away from it all then we highly recommend September cottage.

    Katie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space to relax and unwind.

    Julia2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola’s place is cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a break in pretty Bildeston. The attention to detail is great, it’s really stylish with very comfortable beds and bedding, and interesting books and games to play. Nicola provides generous and delicious breakfasts, and is a super friendly host. This place is highly recommended! Thanks Nicola 🙂 xx

    Ruth2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola’s cottage is stunning; it’s a true home from home. Every detail has been thought through to make your stay comfortable & enjoyable. It’s a beautiful place to stay with so much to explore in the surrounding villages & towns.

Lavenham is the perfect place to visit and enjoy an all year round selection of festivals and events. There are many award winning galleries and boutique shops to browse with plenty to do and explore in the surrounding area. The appearance of the village has changed little over the years: half-timbered crooked houses lean majestically over the narrow streets, while the magnificent Swan Hotel creates a striking feature on the beautiful High Street. The stunning National Trust Lavenham Guildhall is located in the Market Place which forms the centre of the village. The Market Place is also home of several shops, The Little Hall and the Tourist Information Centre. Lavenham has been described many times as the “finest medieval village in England” and has more than 300 buildings listed as being of architectural and historical interest. Despite being steeped in history, the town is up to speed with what it has to offer the discerning visitor. An abundance of art galleries, independent lifestyle shops and boutiques, fine dining restaurants, bistro pubs and cafes. A real gem in the Heart of Suffolk, it is the perfect base to explore Suffolk’s countryside and coast.
  • A lovely cottage right in the centre of Lavenham and close to everything. A perfect view of one of the most beautiful houses from the windows. Everything needed was supplied and the host responded very quickly. A perfect place to stay. One small note: The stairs are very steep and could be problematical for people with limited mobility.

Built of soft Suffolk red brick in 1835 to house wool workers, this home has seasoned wood floors and exposed-beam ceilings. Each spacious bedroom has both a TV and an en suite.
The cottage is conveniently located to explore Lavenham, Suffolk's prettiest wool town with its winding streets, timber-framed buildings and quaint cottages. Lavenham is considered to be England's finest and most well-preserved medieval towns. Built in 1835 by Thomas Turner, the village's master woolstapler for his workers, the cottage was built with traditional Suffolk soft red brick. It has been extensively renovated with a bright interior and surprisingly large rooms.
Lavenham is a vibrant little village with a number of interesting shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants, all within easy walking distance from the cottage. This quaint village, often described as one of England’s finest preserved medieval villages, has a magnificent parish church and a wonderful selection of houses and cottages dating from Tudor timber buildings through the Georgian period to the Victorian era.
  • A fantastic home for a short break. So comfortable and in reality, even nicer than the photographs! Linda's thoughtful touches made the stay very enjoyable. Great location, parking easy across the street and some useful recommendations for what to do, where to go and where to eat. Will definitely be back!

  • It’s gotta be said, this place is truly something special, It has been kept in excellent condition and there are lots of little touches that make it more welcoming such as the fresh bread and juice. The pictures don’t do it justice (The fault of AirBnB) and it’s way bigger in real life, the smart home integration works well with Google Home in each room which is great for listening to music, wish we could have stayed for longer and hope to be back at some point.

    Dave2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place has everything for the perfect stay - the house was amazingly kitted out, with soft towels, extra blankets and pillows, lovely bits for breakfast and all the tv you could need at your fingertips for a very relaxing and homely stay. The house is also perfectly located close by to Lavenham's picturesque shops and restaurants and walks - Linda has provided an extremely helpful guidebook to make sure you don't miss out on anything. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Another fantastic break in this beautiful home there is not one negative thing to say about the house or host just perfect . We have already spoken to Linda and will be returning in April can’t wait

    Clare2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect warm and welcoming home in lavenham. Much bigger, and if possible nicer, than the photos (which are excellent) suggest and beautifully situated to enjoy all lavenham has to offer. We felt instantly at home and were particularly impressed by the basket of local bread, milk, apple juice, butter, jams etc. Every need has been thought about and provided including coffee and tea, even ear plugs! Thank you.

    Andrzej2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I booked a weekend away in Lavenham for my girlfriends birthday and stayed at Linda’s cottage at the top of the high street. Linda was incredibly helpful with suggestions on where to eat, drink, explore and everything in between which allowed us to make the very most of our short stay. The house was also beautifully decorated, furnished and spotlessly clean. We had a great weekend away and would thoroughly recommend booking this property via Linda for a quiet weekend getaway.

The Crown Post Suite at Number Ten Wine Bar and Kitchen (sleeps 2) is a mixture of everything you would expect from a beautifully restored period building, coupled with contemporary luxury. The suite comprises of living and sleeping accommodation over two stories.
  • Where to start! Joanna's space is a wonderful place to rest and relax. The space is beautiful, warm, stylish, unique, peaceful, and cozy. It was the perfect base from which to explore the local sights (such beautiful medieval architecture). The copper bathtub was particularly lovely! Joanna and her staff were very friendly and helpful hosts throughout our stay. We highly recommend eating at Joanna's wine bar (just below/adjacent to the space); the food was incredible! I cannot recommend this place enough and look forward to staying again soon!

    Christine2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to enjoy beautiful Lavenham. The suite is gorgeous and amazingly comfortable - we just wish we could’ve stayed longer! Joanna also gave us good tips about where to eat and drink in the village.

  • We had a lovely stay at The Crown, with everything in Lavenham being within walking distance. Our meal at Number 10 Wine Bar was delicious and all of our tea room visits didn’t disappoint. The room had everything we needed, and was bigger than expected. We didn’t want to leave, thank you Joanna.

    Charlotte2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very romantic apartment with great amenities. A home from home. Loved the copper bath!

  • Beautiful place to stay for a visit to Lavenham, amazing place set on two floors, easy parking, wonderful huge bathroom and bedroom with quirky features and generous welcome pack, very clean and included everything you’d need for a short stay including private garden, perfect for a drink before dinner at No. 10 next door.

The Weavers Cottage is right in the centre of Lavenham on sought after quiet and peaceful Shilling Street with free street parking. Your location lets you walk to great restaurants and pubs and explore Lavenham's architecture or walk out into the countryside (even to Long Melford). You can also simply decide to retreat in your own cosy medieval cottage to relax with a book in front of a fire, look out at a great country view, or explore the cottitich's own small magical garden.
The Weavers Cottage is the oldest 15th Century Medieval cottage in Lavenham on Shilling Street. It has uninterrupted views of the countryside and is a 1 minute walk into the Market Square. Its a great bolt-hole away from busy London living or a wonderful landing point of you are a visitor to the UK and want to explore the wonderment of Suffolk. Ideal for a romantic weekend, retreat, or time away with a small family to give them a run around and some country living. The master bedroom has a king size bed in it. The other bedroom is a large landing area above the stairs but with a Separate door so privacy is assured. In the landing room we we have a built in bunk bed with adult single beds that sleeps adults or children comfortable. There are also travel cots provided (no linen) for newborns and older. We suggest in terms of occupancy either a couple and an extra adult or a family with under two children, or two children and a baby. The cottage is small and even though the sleeping arrangements can handle 4 adults you would be squashed and we'd not recommend it for your comfort. We are a family of two adults and a 9 and 6 year old and sleep comfortably, plus the upstairs bed area allows a place for our children to play away from us while we have a glass of wine by the fire! On Shilling Street you are in a local neighbourhood not surrounded by guest houses, but by our lovely neighbours who live there permanently. This makes your stay more 'local' and less 'touristy'. You are also in the depths of the countryside where its absolutely still and silent at night with no street lamps (but we have an outside door light as do most on the street). Our cottage is about peace and quiet, serenity and calm, please come if you are able to respect the quiet of the countryside and want that feeling. If you need a place to stay where you want to have a party sadly our home is probably not right for you as voices music carry terribly in the countryside. The Weavers cottage is a "break away from busy city life kind of a place". And you'll love it if you want peace, quiet, serenity, right in the centre but of a vibrant wonderful medieval village but also with undisturbed country views. Its magic.
From Wikipedia: Lavenham is a village, civil parish and electoral ward in Suffolk, England. It is noted for its 15th century church, half-timbered medieval cottages and circular walk. In the medieval period it was among the 20 wealthiest settlements in England. Today, it is a popular day-trip destination for people from across the country along with another historic wool town in the area, Long Melford. Of note Shilling Street where the Cottitch is, is a little bit famous because in the late 18th century, the village was home to poet Jane Taylor, who while living in Shilling Street, wrote the poem The Star, from which the lyrics for the nursery rhyme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star are taken.
  • We loved our stay in this weaver's cottage, lovely for two people.

    Melissa2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful three night break in this delightful cottage in Lavenham. The communication with Michele was really helpful and the check in was a breeze. The location of the cottage was perfect for us, so close to the centre of Lavenham that we were able to walk everywhere during our visit. Our children enjoyed the bunk beds and the grown ups found the open fire very comforting during the stormy weather we had in February. It was a bit cold to spend much time in the garden but it looked like it would be lovely for the warmer months.

    Liz2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful cosy house in a wonderful setting! Michele was very helpful throughout the stay, with quick responses. Definitely recommend.

    George2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I’ve used Airbnb for quite a few years and this is by far one of the best I’ve stayed in! Quintessential English cottage in the centre of Lavenham. So quaint, sweet and decorated beautifully! Michele was so quick to respond and was always there if I had a question. Will definitely stay again and recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the area!! Thank you!!!

    Aliya2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with our two boys (5 and 3) and it was perfect. Neat as a pin, very well set up and child proofed. Stairs were a hazard, but a clever child proof gate at the top meant we had no concerns. The kitchen amenities had everything you could need. Location was excellent- a 2 minute walk to the market square and equally close to the high street. Michele was an excellent host- some essentials left for us made the first morning very easy with the kids, she gave clear instructions about how to treat the property and was as flexible as she could be with us. An excellent weekend in an excellent tiny, perfect, quintessential lavenham property. Will come back when we can.

    Caroline2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Michele and Henry's cottage is a wonderful little place to rest from the stress of daily life. It's very quiet and cosy. It makes you feel like you've been transported back to medieval times but with all the modern commodities. The village of Lavenham is, in itself, a work of art and the Weaver's cottage, being so typical, seems to be the ideal place to stay.

    Ana2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s home is bursting with character and charm. A truly magical stay in beautiful Lavenham

    Jackie2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lavenham is a wonderful place to spend the weekend; absolutely beautiful and lots of great places to eat. This is the perfect cottage to stay in to explore it; charming, quirky, characterful, peaceful, wonderfully appointed and like a home from home. All four of us (2 adults and 2 children age 10 and 7) had a great time. Thank you.

  • What a beautiful cottage! I couldn't recommend it more. The attention to detail, the facilities provided, and the homely feel made this place an absolute sanctuary for us. It also couldn't be better situated - right on the market Square and steps from a fantastic pub. Thank you!

You're welcome to come and stay in our family home slap bang in the middle of rural Suffolk. Big skies, a warm family welcome, and take us as we come. We have 3 rooms, one en-suite the other two with shared bathroom. Homely kitchen and a hearty welcome awaits.
We are happy to share our home with like-minded, adventurous people who want something different. The house is large, and unusual, in 1.5 acres of grounds in the heart of rural Suffolk on the River Brett in the village of Monks Eleigh. Notwithstanding that the airbnb system only allows us to show one bedroom there are in fact three available and we can comfortably accommodate six people (for example, three lots of two). The other bedrooms are listed in separate airbnb listings. The price listed is for bed and breakfast in the double bedroom with shared family bathroom. If you would like additional meals these can be provided at an extra charge, as can a picnic if you want to go out for the day. We keep 4 - 6 free range chickens in the garden, so no pets please.
Being in rural Suffolk, you will be out in the countryside a short walk from the centre of the village of Monks Eleigh. There is a local community shop and post office and a gourmet pub called "The Swan". A little further away is the village of Chelsworth, where there is a typical English rural pub called "The Peacock", which sells traditional British real ale, and it has an excellent food menu. Three miles up the road is the medieval village of Lavenham, which has over 300 listed buildings. It was used to film a few of the final scenes at Godrick's Hollow in the last Harry Potter movie. There are some good walks nearby, easy ones for a stroll and some for which you will need your walking boots, particularly if the weather is inclement. One of the nice things about the location is that there is hardly any light pollution and on a clear night you get a fabulous view of the night sky.
  • I had a lovely time here - lovely peaceful setting, very hospitable and excellent company. Highly recommended.

This late 15th century, timber framed cottage sits on the corner of Church Street, mid way between the church and the Swan Hotel. Staddles Cottage sleeps two and is the ideal choice for a romantic getaway.
The fine pargeting on the front of the cottage dates back to the 17th Century and around this time the property was divided into separate cottages. Staddles Cottage enjoys some of the best of the original features with an inglenook fireplace, an extraordinary high beamed ceiling, exposed beams and an original Suffolk brick floor, which has been relaid with the luxury of underfloor heating. The adjacent room has been completely reworked to provide a modern, stylish kitchen dining area with french doors opening into a secluded courtyard garden. This pet-friendly property is ideal for a couple wanting to soak up the wealth of local history and to explore the villages of Clare and Long Melford or the neighbouring old wool towns of Suffolk. Sitting room: a surprisingly bright room with inglenook fireplace housing a gas ‘coal burning’ effect stove, flat screen TV, lamps, sofa and access to the first floor. The stairs are relatively narrow and turn as you reach the top. Kitchen and Dining area: a range of fitted units, dishwasher, washer/dryer, built-in electric oven with gas hob, microwave and refrigerator with freezer compartment. There is also an extending oak table and chairs for dining Master bedroom: a super king size bed (with the option of twin singles) dressed with a half tester canopy, wardrobe, cupboard and chest of drawers En-suite: comprising a good size shower, wash basin and toilet. Outside: a fully enclosed garden with flower border, patio and garden furniture and a mature apple tree. Heating: underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and radiators on first floor. Also... wifi and BT sports channel included
Staddles benefits from being in the heart of this most picturesque of the wool towns with a variety of shops, including a pharmacy, butcher (renown for local sausages and game), hairdresser, two beauty shops, Co-op, general store and Faiers family run bakers. There is a shoe shop, Tapestry Gallery, several clothes shops, specialist tea supplier and of course several very good teashops. Local Pubs: The Cock Horse Inn and The Greyhound, just a few steps away.
  • If you’re thinking of staying in Lavenham, you couldn’t find a better cottage than Straddles. It was just the right size for two, well-appointed and very comfortable. Helen is warm and welcoming and the complimentary welcome pack was delicious. The cottage is only a stones throw from many good pubs and cafes so you won’t go hungry and is the ideal place for visiting the nearby Suffolk villages. Thank you!

    Wendy2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • There were so many little personal touches that went above and beyond expectation, it is difficult to know where to begin! The welcome pack was not only unexpected but a real personal touch. The bed was superb and so so comfortable. We loved the modern kitchen and all it had to offer. The underfloor heating was wonderful! We loved every quirky inch of Staddles! Our only regret is we could not stay longer!

    Carol2018-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Staddles is a fabulous old cottag, but with a modern kitchen for convenience. Everything is provided for your comfort and the location is excellent.

£60 per night, 3 nights minimum. Our place is close to the ancient village of Kersey and its 15th century pub - The Bell. You’ll love it because of Wheelwrights Cottage is a recently converted 18th century barn and is surrounded by the wonderful countryside of Suffolk. It is situated within the grounds of our own 16th century cottage (The Forge) but well separated. It is great for couples and solo adventurers. Plenty of places to visit and for walking in the countryside

  • Peter and Doreen will make you feel very welcome at Wheelwrights cottage. Comfortable, cosy and with everything you will need to spend time right in the middle of a beautiful part of Suffolk countryside. Lots of great walks. Kersey has a very nice pub that serves good food and that is only a 20 brisk walk away and you can chose to go across the fields or along the road depending on how energetic you feel. Chickens and ducks can be chatty quite early but they do go to bed with the sun too.

    Margaret2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's place is very comfortable and relaxing. Ideally placed for road trips around Suffolk, Lavenham, Bury St Edmunds, Dedham Vale all within easy reach. The village is beautiful, chocolate-box pretty and a 20 minute walk across fields, although 30 minutes back up after a few pints! There is some great walking in the local area, but you will need a car to fully explore. Hadleigh has good facilities, about 2 miles away. Peter & Doreen were very friendly, we enjoyed meeting their menagerie and playing with their 2 springers.

    Jane2019-04-22T00:00:00Z

It's right in the very centre of Lavenham but, all you'll hear are birds singing. The property has everything you'll need for a short week day or weekend break or a longer holiday. It has a private dining patio - and you can use our 3 acre grounds. It's great for couples, families (with kids) & big groups. Pets welcome with prior consent.
Lavenham Priory is a remarkable Grade I listed, medieval half-timbered house dating back to the 13th Century and is set in 3 acres of picturesque grounds in the heart of the beautiful, quaint and historic Suffolk village of Lavenham. Perfect for a weekend or week day break or a longer holiday. I also have The Priory Suite which has a beautiful 4 poster bed (please see my other listing) - which is perfect for a romantic getaway for couples.
  • This is the most gorgeous dairy conversion in the most picturesque medieval village imaginable. Two fantastic restaurants within stumbling distance (about 20 paces tops), one minute to the high street and about the same to the impossibly lovely town square. The house has everything you could possibly need, beautiful white bed linen, lovely towels, a claw foot bath and even a baby grand piano! A couple of acres to roam with the dog was an added bonus. Thank you for your hospitality! :)

  • This is a delightful cottage which was perfect for a few days in the Suffolk countryside. The hosts left a hamper full of breakfast goods which was very thoughtful. Right in the middle of Lavenham, good local shops and places to eat, plenty of countryside walks in the area. Highly recommend and hope to stay again.
