  • What a great stay, as a group of 8 we had plenty of space. We enjoyed a solid 10 mile walk and rewarded ourselves with a pint or six of ale in the lovely old hall inn pub. Terry was helpful and informative host throughout the booking process, and even left us a cake which was a treat. We snarfed our way through it, that in addition to Brian’s batch of flapjacks and we were all wiped out! Would certainly stay again Chinley is delightful.

  • A great host- very communicative and helpful. The house was great and exactly what was specified. The house really nice and was exactly what we needed.

    Rhys2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in an excellent location for exploring the high peaks and the village has many facilities to make the stay even more comfortable. The house was excellently presented and we had plenty of room to relax, even though we had a large party. An extra shower would have been useful but it did not adversely affect our stay. Would highly recommend.

    Haley2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for families - good facilities and well located.

    Sarah2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Forge cottage. Terry went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and we would recommend this place to anyone.

    Robyn2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage, suitable for large groups - we had 7 staying (no couples!) and there was plenty of space to relax and eat together. Comprehensive kitchen, nice bedrooms, just a really nice atmosphere to this place, which was always warm. Host provided excellent local knowledge. Neighbours are friendly too which always helps. Highly recommended!

    David2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Terry’s house over New Year. She is a fantastic host, very helpful and welcoming and the location and set up for a large group is great.

'The Vestry' is an 1846 church building, now a delightful studio cottage for couples, families or business trips with easy access to Manchester airport/city. On the edge of the Peak District it includes a comfortable double bed, 2 single beds on the mezzanine and a single bed (if reqd). Relax in front of the wood burning stove, or on the lovely rear deck overlooking our brook and woodland. It’s an easy 5 minute walk to the village with great pubs, shops and restaurants.
Lovingly renovated over the past 5 years, we have transformed The Vestry into a calming, private sanctuary full of character, history and interest. The Vestry comfortably sleeps 4 (although we can accommodate 5), with the main bed on the ground floor and 2 single beds on the mezzanine level. You do need to climb a ladder up to mezzanine so we recommend that only children over 7 should sleep up top. For younger children, or those who need access to the bathroom during the night, we can provide an additional single bed on the ground floor. The mezzanine isn't just for children however, and adults can also sleep up there (just watch the head height) as it can be a little tight (see photos). There is an en-suite bathroom with a fabulous shower, and we provide towels and toiletries, as well as all linen, duvets and pillows. If you're planning to stay for more than a few days, we're happy to do a change over of linen and towels during your stay. (Please ensure you ask us to so we know to have the linen ready for you) The wood burning stove will be ready to light on arrival, so you can enjoy the warmth and ambience of a real fire! There are plenty of board games too, and in the summer the children are welcome to play in the courtyard. We provide a selection of teas, coffee and milk for your arrival so you can settle in after your drive, and there is a variety of cereals for breakfast. In the kitchenette there is an under-counter fridge freezer and microwave. We are within an easy walk to the village and we find a lot of our guests like to eat out when they are here, and with a variety of cafes, delis and restaurants there are lots of great options to choose from. The bi-fold doors open up to a very private deck, overlooking the brook and our woodland, which is full of wildlife. This is a beautiful, secluded spot, with a table and chairs perfect for breakfast, or an end-of-day G&T or glass of wine! You can park on our driveway or smaller cars can drive into the courtyard - there is additional parking around the corner from the property should you need it. Poynton is a fantastic village for walking and cycling and The Vestry is perfectly located. From the front door you can walk to many of the accessible footpaths that weave through the village, up towards the canal and Lyme Park or down through the Village and over to Poynton Pool. We are available to give you any guidance and recommend places to go to should you need it.
Poynton is a lovely small town with a distinctly village feel. It's located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, and separated from the Manchester conurbation by a large area of green belt, giving Poynton a semi rural character with a huge amount of green space. We have a great selection of cafes, delis, and restaurants in the village, and lots of independent shops giving it a unique feel. There are a couple of great pubs (The Farmers Arms offers great food), bars and we also have a fantastic live music venue - The Acoustic Lounge - with gigs every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Further away from the village centre, we have some classic country pubs serving great food. The train station is about 1.5 miles away with direct routes to Manchester and we have a regular bus route too.
  • The Vestry itself is a beautiful place to stay, Ian and Emma were very accomodating in person and with their local tips in the cottage guide book!

    Martha2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect little place for a stopover or even for a longer stay. Beautifully presented and equipped with all we needed.

  • Cosy, clean and private with a lovely outdoor space.

    Eoin2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place just outside Manchester! Absolutely perfect for venturing into Manchester, as the train station is within walking distance. The town itself is gorgeous! Just a short walk to all the quaint little shops and restaurants was just what we wanted, so this was perfect for us! The vestry itself is warm, cosy and has all you need. The little personal touches and added extras were the icing on the cake. The fireplace was also an added bonus on a cold winter evening and it was just perfect after a long day around the shops. Lovely hosts who made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We would highly recommend this great little place to others.

  • We had a beautiful time at The Vestry and couldn’t rate it higher. So many lovely touches especially the wood burner and space elements... highly recommend to anyone looking for a special and quaint place to stay in Cheshire. Emma and Ian and dog Franky are great hosts and have really put a lot of thought into making the stay a lovely one. Amanda and Ian

  • Lovely place to stay!

    Isabel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The vestry is a delightful place to stay. It is even better in person than the photos. Ian made every effort to ensure our comfort and assisted us by calling transport, making excellent local suggestions and being a kind and thoughtful individual in general. The vestry is located in the lovely village of Poynton, near many local walks. It is incredibly cosy and we felt extremely welcome. Thank you Ian and Emma for all of the extra touches. We would certainly stay again.

  • This is the second time we have stayed at Nina’s place and again she was an outstanding host. She could not have done more for us. Would absolutely recommend the location, house and Nina’s hospitality. Thank you!

  • A fantatic house perfect for a weekend or longer getaway. Close to beautiful walks rides and towns, great amenities within short walk and Nina was a warm, generous hugely helpful host. We highly recommend. Seven ladies on a biking weekend - we’ll be back for more hopefully in spring or summer so we can enjoy even more of the house garden and surrounding area. Huge thanks!

    Sarah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place to stay, there were seven of us there and had to stay in for most of the time because of storm Dennis ,but we all had a great time playing games and listening to music and there was plenty of space for us all,we also had a fantastic meal at one of the local pubs, Perfect spot for a cozy getaway

    Bruce2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nina’s cottage is stunning the picture do not do it justice. The garden is beautiful. Everything in the cottage is very thoughtful. Lots of kitchen utensils for cooking and an Amazon Alexa which was very useful! The bedrooms are very modern. We stayed in January and the cottage was very warm and cosy but also spacious! Amazing stay. Nina is also very friendly and responds quickly. She lives right next door which is handy also but was very happy for us to have a little get together. Thanks again.

    Devi2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A absolutely lovely space, very clean and everything you could want for a very comfortable stay.

    Emily2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We adored this house. We were two families with toddlers and the house was equipped with everything you can imagine for the children. The nice touches were toys, books and stair gates! We wish we had stayed longer as it was a home from home. The current pictures don’t do the house justice, in real life it’s super cosy and stylish. We would 100% return if the opportunity came up to visit the area again. P.s the path leading up to the house is very bumpy with potholes which might make some drivers nervous especially if you don’t have a 4x4.

    Jade2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at this cottage. All you could think of for your stay available and lots you hadn't!! The pictures do not do it justice. Lovely to see the different types of animals that come into the garden. Food for them is already waiting provided by Nina. We would definitely stay again

Quaint and tastefully renovated 2 bedroom apartment, full of history and charm. It is one of the oldest buildings in New Mills and I'm lead to believe from my history lessons in school that this stoney building housed the cotton spinners from the mills back in the late 1700s! Just a stones throw from the Torrs Millennium Walk and the Sett Valley Trail. All amenities such as Sainsburys, Boots, The Crispy Cod Chippy, Local Pubs and Transport Links are all within a short walking distance.
The property is ideal for walkers and bikers. With easy access to the Sett Valley and Goyt Valley trails. There are a variety of leaflets and maps of the suggested trails available in the apartment. Advice is also available should you fancy visiting Lyme Park, Kinder Scout or Lantern Pike. 2 bedroom apartment, private entrance into a small hall, opening up to a large living room with a 2 and a 3 seater sofa. Smart TV and DVD player and a small selection of DVDs are provided. Fully fitted kitchen and dining room table that seats 6 persons. Fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and all other appliances expected in a generic kitchen are all available for use. Bathroom, Shower and bath, towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are there for your use if you so require. Master bedroom, double bed with tv, wardrobe and drawers. Second bedroom, single bed and drawers. We have also provided a fold away collapsible single bed (with extra bedding) that can be positioned in the living room for a fourth guest. Exterior, a raised decking area, with bench and chiminea for guests use. There is a secure lockable space for a couple of bikes should you need it. Parking, a large public car park is next to the apartment, you may also if feeling brave, park outside through the tunnel, however I take no responsibility, should you damage your vehicle in the process.
  • Well worth a visit So near shops restaurants and pubs Comfortable accommodation well equipped

  • Jason and Kim are excellent hosts. They provided excellent check in instructions. The house is lovely, and felt very homely. It's clean and well equipped and very quiet. There's parking in the courtyard outside (quite narrow but doable) or a public car park 50 yards away. New Mills is round the corner, and Derbyshire and the Peak District close by. Highly recommend the house to anyone in the area!

‘The Little House’ is a traditional terraced stone millworker’s cottage on the edge of New Mills, on the way to Hayfield village, Kinder Scout, and generally known as the Gateway to The Peaks. New Mills offers a full range of amenities to ensure your stay is comfortable and convenient, as well as preserving a wealth of local heritage and traditions of the area. The house is pleasantly decorated and traditionally furnished, with a wood burning stove as well as gas central heating.
Spacious rooms, comfortably accommodating four and a baby, offering all the comforts you will want after busy days exploring the local area in all seasons or simply relaxing ‘at home’. Close proximity to all local amenities, including friendly hostelries and cafés where you are sure to receive a warm welcome. Well equipped kitchen with a welcome pack provided to make you feel at home.
I chose to retire to this area after many years living and working in the South East. The natural unspoilt beauty of the area is unrivalled and there is an abundance of interesting heritage to explore. I enjoy The Peaks in all seasons and moods and invite you to do likewise!
  • Helen is a wonderful host going way above and beyond expectations.

    Damien2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Helen was a lovely and very attentive host which is very reassuring when travelling with children. The house had lots of care and attention, everything guests need is catered for and it's been decorated beautifully, really cosy. The location of New Mills could not be better for exploring both Manchester and The Peaks. New Mills is a really interesting place to visit for its part in the industrial revolution, they provide a lovely walk and heritage centre for a couple of hours if you don't mind hills! The only thing I would change about the house is to put triple glazing on the front bedroom window as road is busier outside than I expected. Views to the rear are gorgeous rolling hills which was a lovely surprise. We were very comfortable and happy here :)

    Jessica2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Helen is always the perfect host making sure everything is ready and check-in is smooth and painless. The stay was brilliant. The house is lovely and cosy nestled away in the Derbyshire hills.

    Damien2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Always amazing staying at Helen’s. Nothing is too much trouble and she always goes above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The kids live it. Cannot wait to visit again.

    Damien2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Helen is an exceptionally good host. Better than any that I’ve had before. She’s very accommodating and she will go out of her way to help. I can’t wait to visit again.

  • Helen is a wonderful and friendly host. Her house is to a good standard with lots of nice touches. Lovely rural location and a nicely heated cosy house.

    Damien2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Helen's place over the weekend. It is an amazing house, cosy and warm. Helen left some food for us so we could have a yummy supper and breakfasts. The house is very well equipped, very clean and warm, beds very comfortable. we would definitely recommend Helen's place to those who like hiking and those who spend more time at home :)

    Katarzyna2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A top-notch stay! The cottage was warm and cozy, beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you need for a great stay. Helen was a great host, excellent communication, then left us to it. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches for children including a black out blind, a baby gate and lovely children's books. There's a busy road out the front but the view over the fields out the back was gorgeous. It was a great location for us to get in to Manchester for the day and also tour around bits of the lovely Peak district. Overall, highly recommended!

Unique, luxury, spacious 4 bedroom cottage in the heart of picturesque Rainow, Cheshire. Sleeps up to 9 comfortably. Perfect for exploring the eastern point of the Peak District and close to the amenities of Macclesfield. The property is a converted pub and dates back to 1810. But has recently been lovingly restored and updated to modern standards, without loosing its natural charm. The property is situated next to the main pub in Rainow, The Robin Hood, which serves hot food through the day.
Recently restored and renovated, extremely spacious character cottage, oozing with charm. Perched on the side of the peak district hills in beautiful Rainow, with magical, open views. Well-equipped for the perfect Peak District stay.
Rainow is a beautiful village and civil parish in Cheshire, England, in the valley of the River Dean and next to the B5470 road between Macclesfield and Kettleshulme. It straddles the eastern side of the Peak District border of Derbyshire and Cheshire. The area is popular among nature observers, walkers, cyclists and para-gliders as well as those looking for romantic stays. The village lies in Cheshire's portion of the Peak District, just North East of the substantial town of Macclesfield; but visitors would never know it, for the hill of Kerridge shields Rainow on the Western side, while to the East, rise some of the highest of the region's peaks - Cat’s Tor and Shining Tor.  The ridge here at “The Tors” marks the parish boundary, (it's a large parish for a small village) and offers wonderful views across the Goyt Valley, with its reservoirs and forests.  Views from Kerridge are no less spectacular, stretching right across the Cheshire plain to the Welsh mountains.  "Rainow" derives from the Old English for "Raven Low" - "low" meaning "hill" in these parts  - and it is an indication of how bleak an environment this would have been in ancient times.  Nevertheless, the village was right at the heart of things, for ancient trackways met here, in the days when ridges were the best places to run packhorse routes; one went North along Kerridge, (literally, "Key Ridge") while an all important route for Cheshire salt ran West-East.  These ancient ways now make for great walking; the Gritstone Trail also skirts the village, while a veritable maze of local paths can take the walker in any direction, to Windgather Rocks, Tegg's Nose, Pym Chair - resonant names for extraordinary places.  At Tegg's Nose Country Park, a few miles South, there is a visitors' centre and a fascinating archaeological trail to follow on foot. The most prominent local feature, (and great short walk destination) is White Nancy, a folly standing at the Bollington end of Kerridge.  Originally the site of a beacon that would have been lit to warn of foreign invasion, the strange, bell-shaped structure was built to celebrate victory over Napoleon, and was a summer house.  Today it is simply a solid lump of a structure, but it has always been painted white.  The origin of "Nancy" is not certain, but may have been taken from the name of one of horses used to pull building materials up the very steep hill. There are numerous ancient standing stones and bronze age tumuli dotted around the area, testament to an unbroken line of settlement, though the village itself did not really get going until the 18th century, when the River Dean was first used to power early cotton mills.  Two of these venerable buildings still stand; Ingersley Vale Mill, built in 1809, was famous for having the second largest water wheel in the country - beaten only by the great Laxey Wheel, on the Isle of Man.  Rainow's prosperity was short-lived, however, as Bollington, only a mile away, had access to the newly dug canal and thus supplies of coal to fuel new, steam-powered mills.  The coming of the railway to Macclesfield did even more to drag the centre of industry away to the West, so that today one would never guess as to the village's industrial past. Coal was mined in the 19th century out of the East side of Kerridge. One of the mines was known as the California drift mine, after one of the local Vare family that had taken part in the Gold Rush there in 1849. The name was shortened to Cali; the stretch of the River Dean that runs along the foot of Kerridge is still known locally as Cali Brook. The Quebec drift mines were dug on the South slope of Big Low, named, again after another Vare family member who had worked in Canada. Quarries are still a feature of the West side of Kerridge, but the predominant view all around Rainow is heavily rural; green pastures, woods and trickling streams. At The Oaks, an area of woodland near Thornsett farm, there is a remnant of the ancient woodland that would have once covered these hills; the oaks in question are Sessile Oak, an upland species, clearly differing from the Common Oak found on the Cheshire Plain. While it may lack shops, the village is blessed with a fine selection of pubs:- on Macclesfield Road, The Highwayman is a traditional 17th century country pub, serving Thwaites bitter and excellent home-cooked food. The Rising Sun offers equally fine ales and  food, while The Robin Hood Inn on Church Brow is open all day for  food and drink, seven days a week.  It has a function room for up to 80 people, making it ideal for large gatherings. At Common Barn Farm there is a tea shop catering for ramblers on the Rainow Ring walkers' footpath.  Jane Osmond's Studio/Gallery at Cesterbridge Cottage, Kerridge End is open to visitors between 10am and 5pm on weekdays. Jane produces original prints, mostly etchings and silk-screens of our local landscape, and teaches the print technique at her studio. For the superstitious, or the ghost hunters among you, the historical records reveal two oddities:- "Two Rainow women, Ellen Beech and Anne Osbalderton, were hanged after the 1656 Michelmas Assizes at Chester for practising "certain arts from which wicked and devilish acts certain people of Rainow fell ill and died"."

In an attic room perfect for one or two, you will enjoy beautiful views when you wake up in the morning and sunsets that make you gasp. The room is in a small stone cottage, with a wood burning stove, by the side of the river. You can walk straight out of the door to rock climb, walk and wend your day away on spectacular walks including taking the Sett Valley Trail to Kinder Scout or just enjoy the coffee shops, pubs, galleries and great charity shops of New Mills. You will always be welcome.

Country Retreat has been fully refurbished over the summer of 2019, and is set within the Peak District. There are numerous walks and bridleways nearby, and as a pet friendly property it is a perfect base for a walking holiday.
The property sleeps three, and has a front and rear garden.
The property is just a 5 minute walk from the award winning Old Hall Inn and Papermill Inn. It is approximately a 10 minute walk to Chinley train station.
  • Spotlessly clean and well finished. My husband and I stayed for 2 night with our 17 month old. Perfect for us. The old Hall serves fantastic food and beer and is a 5 minute walk away. Good location for access to surrounding high peak . Would definitely recommend!

  • Great cottage in a fantastic location

    Emily2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place within easy reach of Buxton! We came for a little get away with our Labrador to do some walking and it was perfect. Easy check in and check out. The house was lovely and warm and beautifully decorated. After our long walks it was great to be able to soak in the lovely bath before walking down the road to the dog friendly Old Hall Inn. (Great food and really friendly) There is a little factory opposite that isn’t noisy and really doesn’t impact on the house other than sometimes the parking can be a little busy. A couple of times we struggled to park, however we stayed mid week. Out of hours there was no problems parking at all. We would highly recommend and would stay again! Thank you so much for having us.

A stones throw from both the Torrs Riverside Park and the Sett Valley trail, this is a cosy end of terrace house that has been recently renovated. An ideal base for walkers, bikers and climbers who are wanting to explore the stunning local area of the Peak District.
The house has been renovated to a high standard to make a practical and modern home whilst still trying to retain it's old charm. The living room is a good size and offers a very large, and very comfortable sofa to relax on. Also available for use is the big freeview tv, along with xbox for dvds and netflix. There is a large kitchen complete with the usual appliances and dining table. The bedroom has solid wood furniture with a kingsize bed with memory foam mattress. Both bed-side tables are empty for your use as is the wardrobe. The bathroom is fully tiled with waterfall taps and an amazing 'rain shower head' that is great for a soak.

  • Yvonne and Nige are friendly and professional hosts with a beautiful home. If you’re not familiar with the area, Poynton doesn’t disappoint. Local amenities are modern and plentiful. Manchester is 15 mins by train. The room is a spacious and private ensuite loft conversion - recommended to all.

    Kit2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • When you stay with a Superhost, you expect all the personal touches because they have seen everything before and problems have been solved before you turn up. Nige and Yvonne meet the description of Super-hosts. They are so welcoming and friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We needed a stay in the centre of a Poynton and this house is exactly that. There is parking in the driveway ((Nige leaves a wheelie bin on the path outside as house numbers are difficult to see in the dark). On arrival, Daisy the Labrador helps with the greeting, she’s not jumpy since she quite an old lady at 12. We love dogs, so it was lovely to be around such a friendly animal. Drinks were offered and accepted and we sat in the living room to talk before being shown to our room at the top of the house. (Note: take some slippers with you as the stairs are polished wood and can be a little slippery when you are weighed down with luggage). The bedroom is lovely with a large comfy bed (plenty of pillows), the ceiling slopes at the ends as this is an attic room with 2 Velux windows (with manual blinds, there is a tv and free Wi-Fi, good lighting and a long mirror on the back of the door. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Breakfast is cereal, fruit, toast, tea and coffee and is taken in the kitchen at the breakfast snug. The house is only 10 mins from Manchester Airport now a new road has been built and something to be considered rather than staying in an impersonal chain hotel. On a little personal note, we would like to thank Nige for giving us a lift to our Xmas party - it was only a 5 minute walk but we were dressed in our finest and since it was raining a little, we were very grateful for this little touch of kindness 😊

  • Wow. What an absolute GEM of a place! Sarah and Chris have done an outstanding job of making Cracken Edge barn feel like a home away from home whilst also feeling like a touch of luxury. My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights at the barn with our 2 dogs and within moments of arriving wanted to book our next visit. Everything is as described, and the little hamper of local goodies was a wonderful treat. We decided to spend the entire weekend at the barn and chose to walk to Hayfield and back again as a day trip after deciding the route thanks to one of the OS maps in the barn. The barn is perfect for a visit with dogs as there are plenty of walks on the doorstep. We especially loved the log burning stove for the cold and rainy nights. Check in and communication were absolutely faultless. Would absolutely recommend for a stay in the Peak District. Thankyou Sarah and Chris!

    Anna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We would recommend this well fitted out, new, modern, warm, cosy, very equipped barn, surrounded with fantastic walks and views. Close to a nice village with two fantastic pubs 20 minute walk away. They we very accommodating and put some lovely touches in the barn. We would love to return.

    Louise2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was a privilege to be the first guests to stay here. This is an impressive conversion, in a stunning location. A true home from home with everything you need to instantly relax and unwind. Walk onto the hillside from the front door, climb the paths further upwards and soak in the vast and wild views. And then return to the fireside in the barn and warm up. Pure bliss. I’ve stayed in a fair few Airbnbs - with and without my dog (this time with) - and it was amongst the most memorable places I’ve visited. Congratulations Sarah and Chris on creating a true gem.

  • This is a superb little space which acts as a great base for exploring. We had 2 nights here and had everything we needed. Bed was comfy and shower was lovely! Hosts were available by phone at all times and very easy to communicate with. Getting to town was a short walk (10 mins). There is a Sainsbury's Local and lots of cafes and pubs - Beer Shed is definitely worth a visit! We also caught the train from New Mills Central to Hope and then walked to Castleton (hourly buses also available). The closest pub is The Packhorse which does good pub grub. The walk is short but there are no pavements so a torch and/or high vis clothing are a must if making the journey after dark (it's a 30 road but lots of people were going faster!) Overall really happy with the stay and would definitely recommend!

We are In the edge of peak district , 3 miles from Lyme park 16 miles from Tatton Park 30 mile from Chatsworth house 12 mile from centre Manchester , bus stop just in front of the main house , 5 minute to Strines train station Our own private car park for at least 20 cars in the back and front of property so you don't have to worry if you come by more than one car Please note that the chalet is not suitable for person who use whealchair
Chalet/Cabin in Cheshire - perfect for nature and animal lovers! An ensuite chalet overlooking the Goyt valley in Cheshire. This cabin has all the comforts. It can accommodate 4 guests - suitable for groups or families. The chalet has one double bedroom with an en suite shower room and a large living room, which can accommodate a king-size inflatable bed . We have a Barbie's cot as show on the pictures so all the little ones will enjoy their comfort as well There's WiFi. We just installed a 45" smart TV with free view in the living room and 32" TV with DVD player in the bedroom , It is really well insulated and warmer than my house in winter! The chalet does not have a kitchen but there is a fridge-freezer, micro wave ,toaster and kettle. Guests are very welcome to use my kitchen. There is a utility room next to the chalet with a washing machine and dryer. The chalet also has a DAB radio , so you know that even if the weather is against you, there's still plenty to do! The Chalet is located in the rolling hills of Cheshire, which is lush green in the summer and has plenty of snow in the winter. The chalet is set on 11 acres of land, which includes my house. I originally built the chalet for my son to live in. He has since left home and just graduated from Oxford University. I didn't want it to sit empty, so I have made it available to Airbnb members. There are 11 acres of land, full of a range of rare, pure breed poultry, some already extinct, some not even on the internet. They include peacocks and peahens. If you are nature and animal lovers, this is the place for you! Join me for a glass of red wine seeing the peacock dancing to attract his lady friends and on occasion watch the daring deer wandering round the garden. http://cheshirechik.co.uk/ Walking in Cheshire One of the best ways to see this part of the world is on foot. We are located on the border of the famous Goyt Valley and the Roman Lakes. Although the Lakes might not have the strongest link to the Romans, it is still amazing to visit one of the most important sites of the Industrial Revolution in this part of the world. We are close to transport links for the rest of Derbyshire and the Peak District. We have plenty of National Trust parks, and our closest, Lyme Park is perhaps most famous for being the site of the 1990's television adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Located close to Marple village, which provided the title for Agatha Christie's famous series, Strines also has excellent transport links to the center of Manchester, Stockport . With regular trains and three nearby railway stations, it is just as easy to use our Chalet as a jumping point for a quiet city break as it is a country one! So whether you'd like to enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside or be close enough to enjoy everything Manchester has to offer, Strines is the place for you. With the summer fast approaching we have just purchased a new BBQ which guests are more than welcome to use. We are also happy to accommodate anyone who would be interested in using the cabin and gardens as the site for photo shoots; all are welcome! Please note, due to the winter months coming up, all guests that need to go out by foot please be advised to use our steps just in the front of the main house when walking up or down from the chalet rather than the driveway itself as it can become rather slippy! Cheers and have a wonderful day!

  • We have stayed in many homes/cottages over the years with varying degrees of enjoyment. Sue & Richards home was quite simply one of the very best we have stayed in. Location for the Peak District & Manchester was prefect. The home itself was stunning. Loads of space, great up to date amenities, everywhere was very clean. A big bonus is the two local pubs, both a five mins walk with great food, drinks and a warm welcome from all the locals. Also with walking, cycling routes within two mins of the property you will never be bored if you like the outdoors. Then within a short drive you have the rest of the peak district with its lovely towns & villages plus a little further away by car or train Manchester. We wouldnt hesitate to return to thsi excellent property. Thanks Sue & Richard.

    Duncan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Richard and Sue’s home is a wonderful base to explore the Peak District, we enjoyed waking in the surrounding area. The house itself is beautiful and was spotlessly clean. The extra little details including the welcome pack and tips for the local area were a lovely touch. We particularly enjoyed lunch at the old Hall Inn. We would love to return in the future and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to others.

    Harriet2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • All communication with Richard was prompt and concise, on arrival we found the property to be absolutely immaculate. They’d thought of every detail to make our stay as comfortable as possible, fluffy towels, crisp white bedding, stylish decor, fabulous welcome pack, I could go on. The village pubs that were recommended lived up to expectation, we had a gorgeous Sunday Roast at the Old hall and the Street food at the Paper mill was great, with really nice local beers. Fabulous area to explore whether walking or cycling straight from the door. We spent a day at Lady Bower Reservoir, a beautiful unspoilt area for walking or cycling, a must if you have time. We will be back to explore the area further.

    Mandy2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Spotlessly clean and well equipped with all the conveniences of a modern property. The location is ideal for visiting local attractions, with walks and cycle rides straight from the door and so much more within easy striking distance. We found it an ideal base for visiting family and friends in the area. Children who can confidently cycle will enjoy a ride along the tramway trail and the newly refurbished village playground is worth a visit with younger travellers. The Sett Valley Tail and Manifold Way also provided easy family friendly cycling for our children. Sue and Richard offered a warm welcome and lots of mod cons. They trust their guests to take care of their home as they would and it was lovely to come back to a cosy house with lots of space to spread out in. We think this property would suit families with older children in particular.

The Loft on the Green in Bollington is a light, bright and luxurious apartment with its own entrance in to a flag stone hallway and a lovely roof terrace. Right in the centre, near a pretty green, and very close to the popular Lime Tree restaurant, casual dining at Tapa, or the lovely Green cafe.... and of course there are great pubs in Bollington too.. Situated on the edge of the Peak District, surrounded by stunning countryside.
When it's cold outside throw a log on the fire and put your feet up. In the summer you can sit on the roof terrace and relax with a gin & tonic - made by my cousin at Honey Spirits.
There are so many great places to eat and drink in Bollington Either watch the boats float past as you enjoy a full English at the Waterside Cafe, or some fine dining at the Lime Tree restaurant just across the road from the Loft.
  • Beautiful apartment, great location and easy communication. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for having us.

  • Had a lovely stay. Really impressed with the full kitchen. Wish I’d known there was a nespresso machine beforehand as it’s useful to know if you’re a coffee drinker! (Which I am!) Nice little touches with ample tea, coffee, sugar, milk etc.

    Craig2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah was such a great host during my stay and had thought of everything I could need, even starting a fire for my arrival. Would definitely recommend for those wanting a luxury stay.

There were homemade brownies and a couple of gin and tonics which were a lovely touch. The place is within walking distance to the restaurants and bars in the village. I would highly recommend. Thanks Nicola

  • Beautiful annexe with gorgeous decor and sparkling clean. All the small additional touches were perfect and made the night extra lovely. Only thing we didn't realise was just how close it was to next door's garden, if anyone would've been in the garden they could've seen straight in. Luckily there wasn't a soul in sight 😊👌

  • This is a fab little place in the heart of a beautiful village. Places to try: Chinley Cheese, the tea shop 3 doors down, The Old Hall and of course Rollies pizza! (seriously, try the pizzas they are so good). Paul is a great host, very responsive if you have any questions or issues. The apartment has all of the basics and is right in the centre of the village. Don't worry about noise though, it's pretty quiet. There are tons of beautiful walks up the hill, or along the canal if you're feeling less energetic. There isn't dedicated parking but we didn't have any problem parking close by.

Fantastic Barn conversion tucked away right in the center of Bollington Village. At the foot of the picturesque peak district, this Air BnB is perfect for walkers & cyclists alike. Fantastic modern interior with large AGA. Double bedroom with wet room.
The barn is a little gem tucked away behind the main street away from the traffic and the village life. Its a fab little one up and one down. Mind the stairs as the ceiling is low at the bottom of the stairs and you can quite easily bang your head if your not careful! The velux windows in the vaulted ceiling in the bedroom have fitted blinds and there is a pole to help close them so you wont have to stare at the stars all night.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Eva’s cottage. The location was great for our visit and the place was thoughtfully decorated and had everything we needed. It was super clean and very comfortable. It was lovely and warm when we arrived and very welcoming with soft lighting on and we immediately felt relaxed. We enjoyed relaxing in the evening watching a film or two and we made good use of the lovely kitchen facilities. We had a great breakfast just a few seconds walk away from the property on the Green and found that there are also a few places to eat an evening meal within walking distance. Can’t fault the property. Thanks for a lovely stay xx

  • Amazing little cottage, nestled in the heart of Bollington. Walking distance to all great restaurants, Cafe and Pubs. Fantastic walks and local amenities. The cottage was immaculate and very warm and cosy, Eva the host went above and beyond, and made a special weekend even better. Even if the weather had different ideas. Well worth the 2 night escape.
