Places to stay in Kettlewell

Places to stay in Kettlewell
Our home is a converted barn with huge exposed oak beams and three guest bedrooms in Hawkswick - a small, hidden gem in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Listen to the river and owls at night, then in the morning take the footpath over the fell to Kettlewell.
The converted barn (semi-detached - the farmhouse beside it is not ours!) is our home where we live and we are delighted to share it with our guests - we have 3 spare bedrooms. Our village has stunning scenery and a lack of tourists. Perfect for walking and cycling and a great base for exploring the unique, unspoiled countryside of the dales or the cultural and historic wealth of Yorkshire.
Its beauty, peacefulness, tranquillity, wildlife, river and walks.
  • Beautiful place to stay in the heart of the Dales. Wonderful views and very quiet. Jonathon and Sonia are great hosts and the breakfast is perfect. Comfy beds and great showers. It is quirky but that just adds to the charm. A very special place that I definitely want to return to.

  • Amazing hosts, Jonathan and Sonia were very welcoming and accommodating. The property was v clean and comfortable. The little touches, such as afternoon tea on return from our long walk in the country, and the lovely breakfast the next day made it all the more special. Thank you again Jonathan and Sonia!

  • This is a perfect place for a getaway if you're looking to relax and unwind in the country. Great location, with fantastic scenery and local walks. The home is spacious inside and very clean, and in general is just lovely and cosy and just want you want to come back to after a long walk on a winter day! Breakfast was great with plenty on offer, more than enough to set you up for a long day out in the countryside! It can be a bit tricky to find in the evening as the area isn't very well lit, so do take care if you're travelling at that time. But overall I had a great stay and Jonathan & Sonia are lovely people, very welcoming and couldn't do enough for me. I would thoroughly recommend their place if you're planning on staying in the Yorkshire Dales.

Warm, clean and comfortable. Lychgate house is a modern (built 1980's) house. 3 bedrooms, enough for 6 people. It is next to a church and very near a pub. Located in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales village, Kettlewell.
My house is positioned in the centre of village, near the shop, pub and church, but is also built further back than my neighbour, so is peaceful and quiet.
Kettlewell is a quiet friendly village with 1 shop, garage, church, 3 pubs, and plenty of walks and natural beauty.
  • Brilliant place to stay, would definitely recommend. It’s even better than the pictures looked!

  • Matthew met us on arrival and showed us around. His place was clean and it has all the amenities needed for our stay. It is situated in a very nice quiet village next to the church and there was a shop and a pub restaurant within a few meters from the property. In fact we had an excellent dinner on our last night. Matthew’s place is a perfect location to explore the Yorkshire Dales. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the beauty of the Dales.

  • Great cottage superbly located ideal for a stress free break . Really nice welcoming local pub serving great food and drinks . We did a challenging walk up Whernside in not the best weather so it was much appreciated to arrive at the cottage after it to have hot showers and a relaxing night away from it all . The cottage is superbly finished throughout and has everything you would need . The pictures really dont do it justice ! • This was such a perfect stay. The cottage is in a lovely location with amazing views and great walks nearby. The cottage was super clean, the bed was comfy, there's a dvd player and Scrabble which kept us entertained. Pam was there if we needed anything and there was plenty of information and tips in a book inside the cottage to help us decide where to walk. The local pub is lovely and is definitely worth a visit. Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing break. We'll be back soon!

  • This is a great property in a fantastic location, sitting out the back by the stream is so relaxing and the local pub (Bluebell Inn) is a must for dining out. Highly recommend Kettlewell and this property.

  • This home has been completely re-done, so feels fresh, clean and modern, but while keeping the original charm. It was very comfortable for our family of 7. We enjoyed being able to walk to the local pubs The village of Kettlewell and the surrounding area is about as charming as it gets. We were able to take several walks right from the house onto the dales and were surrounded by stone buildings, stone fences, flowing water, green pasture and hills, and a million sheep. We drove through several other villages and I didn't see any I'd rather have stayed in than Kettlewell. It was perfect, as was this house. It would be a dream to make it back here again.

We provide the continental breakfast items in the Pod when you arrive for your stay . These being, juice, fruit, yogurts, cereals, croissants, bread, butter, jams, cheese and tea and coffee making facilities. You will also have a toaster and small hob. Also if you want to experience a starry night sky then as long as the clouds aren't about we can certainly guarantee a good display.
Kettlewell is a very special place with stunning scenery and lots of local friendly Dales folk. If your lucky to get chatting to the locals they can tell an interesting tale or two. We are also near to some great visitor attractions such as Malham Tarn, Bolton Castle , The Stridd and Stump Cross Caverns. There is also a local tourist information centre in the lovely neighbouring village of Grassington. We also have a local scarecrow festival in the village in May and down the Dale there's a 40's weekend and at Christmas time a Dickensian Festival. Lots going on if your wanting some entertainment but also lots of peace and quite and exploring to be had, with lots of wonderful walks from the Pod doorstep.
  • Had a lovely time, the pod is great

    Tom2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy’s place was absolutely beautiful. The pod was the perfect space for a romantic weekend away. All the tiny touches in the pod just made it extra special. The location was brilliant and kettlewell itself is gorgeous! Couldn’t recommend it enough ☺️

    Emily2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay here. The pod is so cosy and comfortable it would be easy not to leave it if it wasn't for the stunning countryside setting which draws you outdoors! We visited in autumn as the temperatures were dropping, but as the pod and bathroom facilities are heated we were always warm. There were lots of thoughtful touches from Lucy & Keith who were friendly and accommodating hosts. Highly recommend for truly "getting away from it all"!

    Susanna2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of September. The weather was awful - continuously lashing rain - but despite this, we had a lovely break in such a beautiful place. The pod is warm and cute and cosy and the fridge is well stocked with breakfast items. The toilet and bathroom is only a quick sprint away and modern and clean. Cannot fault the host and accommodation at all. Kettlewell is an ideal base for a trip to the Yorkshire Dales and the local cafes and restaurants are friendly and serve really good food. Would totally recommend staying here if you want a rustic break with all the creature comforts!

    Brishtee2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Such an idyllic location in the heart of the Dales. Super quiet and beautiful. The accommodation is really clean and tidy, and all the facilities feel brand new with no expense spared to make the space beautiful and stylish. The bed is comfortable and the room is very warm even during cold nights. Note that the toilet and shower facilities are a short walk away from the hut as with most campsites, and if you need to wash your plates you also need to walk across the site to do so. Other than that, it's a wonderful place to spend a couple of days and Keith & Lucy are very attentive hosts. Thanks guys!

    Matt2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quiet campsite, small and friendly with excellent facilities. The pod was gorgeous and very well kitted out and the location was fantastic! Lucy thought of everything and made sure we were well looked after!

  • One of the best airbnbs I've ever stayed at. Lizzie and Laurence are incredibly hospitable, kind people. It's more of a B&B then it is an airbnb....wonderful breakfast included! We had a great time chatting and hanging out in their lounge, with the fire roaring and a glass of sherry. Location is fantastic, right in the middle of the Dales and close to many attractions in every direction. Great value, and a great pub right across the street. Stay here, you won't regret it!

The place itself was a home from home and the breakfast was cooked incredibly well. We will definitely be back to experience another local festival, such a jewel in the heart of the Dales, thanks L&L!

  • If you like to be made well come in some very cosy surroundings this is the spot. Laurance's breakfast was so good we had to turn down the toast and homemade conserves because we would not have been able to leave the table and continue our walk. Lizzie makes a great cake. Room very comfortable slept well. We were sad to leave and would have loved to sit in the garden, but enjoyed the view from our table. We hope to go back, just trying to think of a reason having walked the Dales Way.

    Ian2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzie and Laurence are so welcoming and have covered every detail you can think of! The room is beautiful and comfortable and the breakfast was sublime! Home made sloe gin, plum cake and refreshments were all available, plus a log fire. There are several pubs in the picturesque village, including one opposite the cottage, all serving food and Yorkshire real ale. The nearby walks are outstanding. I would definitely stay again.

  • This ticked all of our boxes for a few days getaway! The cottage was cosy once it heated up, with great comfy beds and warm bedding, the throws were a nice touch. We enjoyed lots of lovely walks around Kettlewell and Burnsall. We would recommend taking a torch for the evenings if walking to the pub.

  • We were two couples who chose this area so that we could take in the UCI cycling world championships and also Yarndale in Skipton. We stayed 4 nights. The house met all our needs, being plenty big enough for the four of us, and was cosy and warm despite the bad weather. The house has a lovely ambience and makes good use of space. Gemma was very helpful before our arrival and the remote entry instructions worked well. I highly recommend this as a great place to stay. We were blown away by the beauty of Yorkshire and the availability of good walks straight from the village.

(plus the water was always hot) the kitchen is compact but has everything you need, it's lovely to sit outside having breakfast overlooking the church. A fab area for great walks and the pubs are definitely worth a visit!!

  • The village of Kettlewell is nestled amongst the hills of the Yorkshire Dales - it is a truly beautiful location. Gemma's house is small and cosy, Comfortable, clean and well equipped. Breakfast on the little stone back courtyard each morning was a highlight. Highly recommend if you want a truly Yorkshire stay.

    Paula2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place! Lovely cottage in a lovely village. We used only the main bedroom - a very comfortable bed. Nice thick towels and a good shower. Comfortable living room, and a well-equipped kitchen complete with tea, cooking oil etc. Kettlewell is probably the most peaceful place I’ve ever been - the only noise the church bells, the beck and the birdsong. Three pubs to choose from and great walks on the doorstep. Our favourite was around the top of Wharfedale - Buckden to Cray to Hubberholme to Buckden. I hope we will stay here again.

My home is a place to relax, absorb the views, take time for yourself. It is a space open to anyone who wishes to explore the serenity of the Yorkshire Dales or to just recharge and rest. Situated in the heart of the village and on the dales way, it is a perfect spot for accessing all that the dales has to offer whilst being within a few minutes walk of pubs and cafes. The house is full of warmth and light, designed to evoke a sense of calm and wellbeing.
The space I am offering is a double bedroom with an shower ensuite, with plenty of storage space for two people; there is a double wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The bedroom is filled with natural light being south-west facing, it takes in views across to the fells and uninterrupted down the valley towards lower wharfedale. There is the sound of the running stream that flows across the back of the house, adding to the calm and restful space.
In the heart of the Dales, perfectly situated for exploring.
  • Staying here was utterly perfect for the wedding of our friends wedding. The place is immaculate and full of little touches making it the perfect place for a relaxing weekend or week. Lucy was fabulous throughout and made us feel at home, in hers! We loved Monty the cat too, he was such an added bonus......thank you.

Lucy was super helpful in offering us tips about places to walk and explore, and some lovely places to eat. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and happy, and I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to relax and enjoy the scenery. Kettlewell itself is beautiful and we had a very enjoyable and relaxing couple of days. Thank you again Lucy - we will see you next time :)

Narrow boat rides are available in Skipton. Skipton and surrounding areas were recently recognised as the happiest place in England to live!
  • Woooow, this was amazing. Everything was simply perfect. Never have I ever stayed somewhere where everything you want to have was actually available. Especially in the kitchen. Perfect bed, better shower than at home. Rachel & Simon were the perfect host. We had decided to stay in two different places during our holiday, but we decided to cancel our second location and stay with them. Our 1 year old daughter was spoiled with books, toys & stuffed animals to play with. The room was perfect for children. They even had gates for the stairs!!! You won't be disappointing here. Enjoy!

  • My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Redmire Barn. It is decorated to a very high standard and has everything you would ever need. It is extremely cosy and comfortable. Simon and Rachel made us feel very welcome and were happy to answer any queries and offer suggestions on the local area. Unfortunately we didn’t have the greatest weather so we made lots of use of the billiard table and Netflix. My teenage son thought this was amazing. We had a fabulous Sunday lunch at the nearby White Lion, which had a roaring open fire. (As suggested by Simon and Rachel) We also visited a local American Diner/ice cream parlour. Also great if you have children. We have had a lovely, peaceful, relaxing few days away, which is exactly what we were after. I wished we had booked for longer!

  • We had an AMAZING stay at Redmire barn. They were there to show us around at the start and give us plenty of advice for our stay. We went on a walk directly from the barn which was amazing so no need to drive anywhere! Gave us many food recommendations, but the kitchen was so equipped and lovely that we just wanted to stay in and cook in the lovely space! Absolutely loved our stay and will be returning for sure, couldn’t have had a better time

    Hannah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Simon and Rachel are brilliant hosts and the barn is of a very high standard

    Brian2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A real treat in every way. Super stylish accommodation ( I wanted to redecorate when I got home) where everything felt brand new. Rachel was amazing and very accommodating when our plans changed. It feels as if a lot of thought goes into your stay - from the welcome basket with Halloween treats to the tuck shop and local tips. The billiards table was very popular with our teens. We loved the location - a beautiful dale with walks from the doorstep.

    Melissa2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Redmire Barn is beautiful, cozy, sparkling clean and full of little touches to make your stay comfortable. The location is amazing and is a great mix of tranquil countryside whilst being only 30 minutes from Skipton. Rachel and Simon are wonderful hosts who can’t do enough to ensure that you enjoy your stay. We would highly recommend.

    Lisa2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic few days spent in the cottage at Redmire Farm. Rachel was a terrific host - so welcoming and full of good advice. She really has put a lot of effort into the cottage to ensure it has everything to meet your needs - it has been fitted out to a very high standard and it is beautifully decorated. The welcome basket was lovely and the tuck shop with an honesty box went down a treat with the kids! There was a file full of useful information on where to visit in the area. We had the second bedroom made up as two single beds which suited our family of four. The billiards table was an added bonus and we are now all addicts! The surrounding area is stunning with plenty to do. The only downside was having to leave after just a few days!

    Jenn2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We spent an brilliant few days up in the Dales staying at Simon and Rachel's cottage. It had been converted to an incredibly high standard by Simon himself, and you could tell how much effort had been made to make it a truly stylish and contemporary cottage, whilst still embracing all of the beauty of the surrounding area. Despite us arriving fairly late on a Friday evening, Simon and Rachel were there to greet us, help us in with out luggage and show us the lay of the land. We appreciated all the little touches, from the stylish kitchen appliances, to the art work, to the stylish lounge cushions and decor, to the incredibly comfortable beds and the softest bedding! We were in the area for the Cycling World Championships and were able to watch the race come past the end of our road. Sadly the weather was biblical, so it was brilliant to come back afterwards and get cosy in the cottage with the log burner on, tuck into some tasty pies from the local butchers and crack open the bottle of red that Simon and Rachel were kind enough to leave us in our welcome pack, and settle in for the night with a good film! We cannot wait to come back again!

Our cosy home-from-home has been in our family for 40 years originally as a retreat from from the city; the idyllic park itself was discovered by my great grandfather back in the 1960's. There is a tastefully new local shopping precinct a mile down the road with a local Spa and butchers to name a few with extensive local produce from the Dales
  • A warm and cosy retreat in a beautiful part of the world! The cabin was lovely and had lots of brochures about local activities and things to do. The Stump Cross Caverns (about 20 mins away) are great, and only take about 40 minutes to see. The on-site pool and spa are also worth checking out. The cabin itself had everything I needed. As per the instructions I put the heating on when I arrived and within only about 15 minutes it was deliciously warm - so much so that I did not want to venture out into the cold (and rain!). There were some tea and coffee sachets left as a welcome as well. There was also a selection of board games and cards. I would recommend Angela’s place to anyone looking for a cosy, quiet and peaceful base to explore the surrounding gorgeous area! Make sure you pack your walking boots and/or wellies though :)

    Sarah2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was perfect for us with a good sized living space and was very well-equipped. Long Acres park is in a great spot for exploring the local area and Angela gave us a few tips of places to go. The park itself has lots of lodges but that said was very peaceful even during the summer holidays. All in all a lovely stay and I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

  • We had a lovely stay at Stable's End cottage. Amy is an excellent host. I was very impressed with the speed of her response and attentiveness to our needs. There were severe weather warnings on our day of travel and she was very quick to help us out and put our minds at ease. It's an adorable little cottage right next to the stables. A comfortable space, fully equipped with everything you might need. Can highly recommend.

  • Although this cottage is small, it contains everything you need for a perfect stay. The location is stunning, with the village of Conistone nestling beneath two large hills, and a river running alongside. We enjoyed stunning walks straight from the cottage. Definitely recommend.

  • A very comfortable cottage in a beautiful area

    Gordon2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place was in a great location, beautiful scenery and we had good weather. The cottage was cosy and having a bath was a bonus after having a long walks. There was plenty of hot water too. Loved the basket with goodies (coffee/tea/wine). Amy informed us of a local event and communication was good. There was a super collection of books about the local area and I would recommend the local curry house in the village. Skipton town was close by and we got supplies from the local Spar (Milk/bread/butter). We took Amber the Beagle and she loved the long walks and slept a lot she was a very tired girl. I loved hearing the horses in the morning, the sounds of the birds and the beautiful views. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of space to put our clothes away. The locals were friendly. The folder on the table was good as it told us about the history of the area.

Our holiday lodge, Brazengate, is situated at Long Ashes Park, Threshfield, close to the historic village of Grassington, with its cobbled streets, and wonderful choices of places to eat. A verandah runs across the front of the cabin - a good place to relax, watch the birds, and barbecue. Early mornings you might be lucky enough to spot deer.
Brazengate has two bedrooms, one with king sized bed and the other with twin beds and a shower room. There is also a separate family bathroom. The comfortable living space has a door opening on to the verandah, where there is a table and chairs from which you can watch the wildlife and the many types of birds which are attracted to the area. You can also count on visits from the pheasants which live on the hillside nearby. There is a gas barbecue for your use. The kitchen/dining room is very well equipped with a microwave, dishwasher and large fridge freezer. Brazengate has gas central heating, and as it was built to withstand Swedish winters, it is always warm and cosy, at whichever time of year you choose to visit.
Long Ashes Park is a five star rated site, which has a mixture of residential homes, and holiday homes. The leisure centre offers various therapies which, if you want to arrange some, would be best booked before your visit. It is a restful place to relax. There are many excellent places to eat, with excellent pub food to quaint tea rooms. Nearby Grassington has a wide selection of eateries, but wherever you go throughout your stay, you will find good places to eat. The Dales are beautiful, and Brazengate is ideally placed for visits to the more northern dales where the countryside becomes wilder, or head south to villages such as Burnsall, Bolton Abbey, where the countryside is more gentle. Both are extremely beautiful. It is a great area for walkers, both for the more active who want to go on a strenuous trek, to the less active who want a gentle stroll along the riverside. Skipton is the nearest large market town, with its excellent range of shops, it's castle and canal. Well worth a visit.
  • We stayed at Dots place over the new year holiday and had a wonderful time! The place was immaculate and in perfect location for visiting nearby grassington and going on lots of different walks. We would definitely recommend and visit again!

  • Myself, partner and 15 month old son had a great stay here. The weather was pretty grim, but it didn't matter because it meant we didn't feel guilty for staying in the airbnb and just relaxing. The on site pub was very nice. The kitchen in the airbnb was one of the most kitted out I've ever been to and we'd definitely stay again

  • I could not recommend Dot’s cottage enough for families - or, as we were, friends with a child! The layout of the house is perfect to leave everyone as much privacy as they want, yet brings everyone together on the refreshing porch or in the comfortable living room; the latter equipped by a video recorder and a cassette player (on top of dvd and cd players), to take you right back to your childhood (if you’re old enough :))! If you don’t feel like it, you don’t have to leave the park and yet you’ll have plenty to do; from ducks to feed to woods for explorations and a playground for the children! Just as well, I could easily imagine coming back just for the sake of the porch, to read a book in fresh air, surrounded by nature...

  • Everything you need to hand, beautiful setting, lots of information on things to do.

  • Dot’s place is fantastically located if you’re looking to explore the Dales. The chalet was well set out and had great amenities. We had a slight problem whilst there but Dot was incredibly helpful and sorted this out as soon as possible so it didn’t impair our stay. Highly recommended- the leisure centre and pool is a great bonus if you have kids or just need a break from walking.

    Catherine2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a very comfortable and cosy few days here. There are lovely walks either from the site itself or nearby. The chalet was very clean and has a very well equipped kitchen.

  • Dot's place is ideally situated to explore Wharfedale in particular, and a lot of the North Yorkshire attractions as well.

Gorgeous detached, 4-bed, spacious converted barn nestled in a small hamlet called Litton in middle of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The perfect countryside retreat to switch off and take yourself away from the world. Hartley Barn, Litton is an incredible setting and location for people who love the great outdoors, cyclists, walkers and nature enthusiasts. Once you open the front door, you’re immediately immersed in the countryside with fantastic walks and treks on your doorstep. The house is incredibly private and secluded with relaxing and peaceful energy - a perfect place to spend quality time with family and friends. The house has a really well-equipped kitchen with a full quota of spices, slow-cooker, soup maker etc which makes it a great place to prepare and enjoy food as a group. For football/sports fanatics, the house is fully equipped with BT Sports and Sky Sports so you can enjoy every televised match! It has a very-welcoming, friendly village pub (The Queens Arms, Litton) which is a stones throw away from the house that serves locally sourced quality pub grub and drinks. Kettlewell, Grassington and Settle are all within a 25 minute drive away and perfect places for a day/morning/afternoon out. Follow on Instagram: hartleybarn_litton
My favourite things about being at Hartley Barn are to: While away the hours sat on the sofa with a glass of wine watching a family of Buzzards swooping through the valley from the upstairs landing window... Get up early to head into the hills with my dog in tow, my homemade soup in my flask and bag packed for the day. Spotting Barn Owls, Red Squirrels and enjoying every season in it’s full beauty. Having a BBQ in the Summer and enjoying the outdoor private garden space with my friends and family, enjoying some exceptional restaurants and pub-food all within a 10/15 miles distance!
  • Superb. Loved it. Very picturesque and plenty of space. Good location for a few decent walks and a great pub a stones throw away. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay again.

  • Great house in a lovely setting. Nice pub at the end of the lane and fantastic walks out the front door.

  • Hartley Barn is a fantastic hidden gem! The location offers many different walks and is neighbouring many other beautiful towns just a short drive away! Jamie’s home is beautiful, spacious and made what was a surprise birthday trip the ultimate get away! In addition, the pub that is simply a stones throw away was lovely and an added bonus to the over trip!

    Martha2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Hartley Barn is an amazing house that is in an equally amazing location. We would love to go back!

    Chris2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is great and better than we expected. We came for a long weekend in January and throughout the process Jamie was prompt with his responses to queries and was more than helpful. The house was clean and tidy and contained a well stocked kitchen. The house looked recently decorated, and looked just like a home would look (it didn't have a 'rented' feel to it at all). The sitting room was a great size, with a big TV (note if bringing dvd's there is no dvd player), and a huge wood burning stove with enough wood and coal for the first night. We went to the nearby pub and had a very nice meal there. Overall I would highly recommend the house, so much so that we are thinking of going again at some point in the future.

    Tom2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, idyllic countryside and the perfect getaway - Jamie's place has all you need to enjoy some relaxing time away. He is quick to respond and very helpful, accommodating all we asked. Would highly recommend !

  • Fabulous house in a truly fabulous location. Is a great base for Dales walkers and we were sad our springer spaniel was stuck in New Zealand. He would’ve been in heaven. Queens Arms pub is the best we went to in Dales as well. Steak and ale pie was outstanding. Thanks Jamie!

  • Simply can not fault this place or the host. We had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed the property. The location is stunning and we will certainly be rebooking.

A quirky, totally private little place to stay in the heart of The Yorkshire Dales. The perfect spot to explore this stunning area. Sat between 3 superb inns - you don't have to go far if you don't want to! Just 3.5 miles away is the beautiful village of Kettlewell - home to the famous Scarecrow Festival and more great inns. Grassington, Kilnsey, Arncliffe, Littondale, Hawes, Leyburn, Skipton ... all close by with Ilkley and Harrogate a little further but less than 45 minutes drive. Perfect!
Hartley's Hideaway is your PRIVATE SPACE at The Mad Hatter. You have your own private access, large private bedroom with king sized bed, seating area, TV, mini bar, ice cream freezer and a great selection of tasty teas and coffees. Your PRIVATE hot tub is straight through the patio doors onto the veranda with it's spectacular views. Along your corridor is your own PRIVATE shower room/wc and full use of the laundry room including washer, dryer, iron, etc. We were originally a B&B, however due to other commitments, we don't offer breakfast, however there are plenty of establishments that can cater for all your meals.
  • Fantastic - please visit here, the night starts whilst sitting in the hot tub surrounded by beautiful scenery is something very special.

  • Had an amazing stay here. The village of Starbotton has that true Dales feel to it. Beautiful scenary and we were well looked after by the hosts. The local pub is a classic Yorkshire spot for food and drink and the staff (who are the hosts of the property) give great local knowledge and advice on where to go and things to do. The property was plenty spacious enough for 4 adults, a baby and two medium sized dogs. A large living room with open log fire, TV and comfortable furniture. Fully functional kitchen Inc dishwasher was a nice touch and tea or coffee was waiting on the side at arrival. Bathroom was great. A good spacious shower and clean room with nice clean towels. The bedrooms were generously sized and clean. Would recommend! (we'll definitely be going back)

    Lee2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous 2 bedroom cottage right in the heart of Starbotton. Big lounge/dining room, clean kitchen, comfy beds, off street parking. The Fox & Hound next door must be visited - food is incredible (try and seafood platter starter if it’s on the special board!!). We spent 3 nights here and went off walking in Malham Cove & Ayrgarth Falls - cottage is centrally located for both. Definitely recommend this as a bolt hole for the Yorkshire Dales.

LAVENDER COTTAGE is a special place to stay in Wharfedale, an area of outstanding natural beauty, in the Yorkshire Dales. Our cosy, wood beamed cottage sleeps three and is situated in Threshfield village, overlooking the village green. The cottage has recently been awarded a four star rating by Visit England and we welcome families, walkers, cyclists and pets.
Lavender Cottage is a quintessential Dales cottage which has been sympathetically and professionally restored offering a very comfortable retreat. It is a charming cottage, full of character with beamed ceilings and an open fire, but also fitted out with freeview TV, DVD player, and WiFi. Changeover days are Fridays and Mondays.
The very popular village of Threshfield is surrounded by open countryside adjacent to the River Wharfe in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is only a short walk from the charming and lively village of Grassington. Grassington is noted as one of the best loved villages in the Yorkshire Dales and is very popular for walkers, anglers, cyclists, rock climbers, pot holers, golfers and those just wanting a day out in the countryside. Grassington also hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year including Grassington Music & Arts Festival, Dickensian Festival, and a 40’s weekend.
  • We had a lovely time at Sophie's cottage. It's very well located to explore the Dales, with a small SPAR down the round for all basic needs. The cake that Sophie made was delicious, and the fizz a nice gesture - it felt very welcoming on entrance. Sophie has clearly invested in the property, with a great rain shower and bathroom, and the fire was well-stocked with wood. Also a nice gesture was the fact that the wood burning stove had been set-up in advance, so you just had to light it. It's those kind of things which make the cottage feel welcoming. It's accurately described, and ideal for a couple, small family.

  • A truly lovely stay and organised easily at short notice. The cottage was clean and tidy and clearly well loved and looked after. A wonderful spot to stay in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

  • Lovely stay at Lavender Cottage. Comfortable & cosy with the log burner. Lovely outlook onto the green & pub a minute walk away. Great location close to Grassington, nice walk across the fields & river. Sophie was a friendly & helpful host. Thanks for the fizz & cake, lovely touch. Hope to be back again soon.

Very useful maps of the area with sightseeing and walking suggestions. Fantastic local butcher located a very short walk from the cottage. (Black pudding! Yorkshire pasties!) Friendly neighbors.

  • We had a great weekend at Skirfare barn with friends. It was just as described but the main living area was even more cosy and sociable than we hoped for. The surrounding scenery is stunning and there are lots of things to do and places to visit. We met Matt the owner on arrival and he was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a lovely meal at the pub down the road. Very friendly and good value. The perfect place to get together with family or friends!

  • We had a fantastic stay at Skirfare. Our only regret was that we were not staying longer! The place lived up to our expectations and was perfect for a big group. We were lucky enough to meet our hosts on the way out who provided some great recommendations for driving through the dales.

Our home is a converted barn with huge exposed oak beams in Hawkswick - a small, hidden gem in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Listen to the river and owls at night, then in the morning take the footpath over the fell to Kettlewell.
  • Jonathan and Sonia were truly fantastic hosts. Would highly recommend. THANKS again :D

  • Picturesque setting, great place for walkers and superb hosts.

    Joan2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation was a real highlight on our trip. Not only is the area fantastic, but the converted house - formerly a barn - was a real attraction. Everything lovingly renovated and equipped with many details. A beautiful garden and in front of the house a several hundred years old tree, the atmosphere was magical. Calender Girls was shot around the corner and there were great trails. In addition, homemade bread from Jonathan and freshly baked pancakes in the morning. If it is possible, we want to come back.

    Maria2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time here. Hawkswick is a lovely place to stay -- quite remote, situated right at the base of a lovely hill, along a river. Jonathan and Sonia were great hosts, both very welcoming, and they offered us lots of produce from their garden. Jonathan's breakfasts were very good. We spent our day here walking near Malham, a short scenic drive away. There are, however, lovely walks that require no driving at all -- two footpaths from directly behind the barn lead up the hill, with beautiful views. (I did this walk in the early morning when the valley was misty.) There is also a footpath leading up the river. Highly recommended!

    Robert2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great house in wonderfully picturesque area of the Yorkshire Dales. Jonathan and Sonia were lovely hosts and provided tasty breakfasts. Our twin room was very comfy but the bathroom was a little way away, up and down several sets of steps. A bit tricky in the middle of the night for my older sister ( aged 80), but Jonathan and Sonia kindly left the light on for her, which was very thoughtful.

    Nicky2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked away in the quiet tranquil Yorkshire Dales National Park, you'll find this hidden gem, of a converted cow barn, perched precariously on the side of a sloping Dale, really off the beaten-track, but so worth it. I had not had a UK holiday for over 10 years, and whilst it is a long 5 hour drive from my home in Canterbury, it was well worth it. This part of Yorkshire is stunning, peppered with sheep and gorgeous grazing herds of dark coloured heifers, their outline made more prominent by the bright green grass that grows, in abundance of the sides of the dales. I have not been to this part of Yorkshire before, my last trip was to Huddersfield and Halifax. I will be honest and say it did rain pretty much every day, (Apart from the last 2 days) that being said I was also not on my own, and my co-traveller, did not manage to sleep too well - nothing to do with the accommodation, but a personal health issue. I on the other hand got a full 8 hours, and felt fantastic every morning. We travelled in his car which he did not initially let me drive, meaning I was basically trapped indoors, apart from an occasional walk in the torrential rain, or an evening jaunt to a pub. Let me describe the house, You enter to one side down some steps from the garden, as you enter there is a kitchen a few steps down, where breakfast is served, be sure to accept Jonathan's offer of a 'Full-English Breakfast' during your stay. It is a converted cow barn, there is a big double room, with en-suite bathroom and shower, and then as you ascend the stairs, there is a good size twin-room with a low room (This was my room), at the top of the stairs, then the host's private accommodation, then within the high beamed roof, there is a shared living space, which has a good TV, and comfy sofas and chairs, this leads to one side down some steps to a Bathroom, with shower attachment, and the other side of that is the second double bedroom (this was where my co-traveller stayed). The shared nature of the accommodation unsettled my co-traveller as he's used to staying in cottages where you have the whole place to yourself and never see the owners. I was very happy this was not the case here, as Jonathan and Sonia, and great friendly people with a breadth of knowledge and life experience, they are the perfect hosts. The Breakfast is included (Unlike so many Airbnb's which are really just Beds but no Breakfast) and is beautifully laid out in the mornings, with cereals and fruit for you to help yourselves to, and the offer of homemade sourdough bread should not be refused as that too is delicious, Jonathan bakes fresh bread daily. He also makes his own jams and chutneys, which must be sampled. He also allowed me to put my freezer blocks in his freezer, with the intention of using them for a picnic (But the weather had better ideas sadly) I felt very emotional leaving today, I would have been happy (Had I not had to come back for my own customers to have stayed the rest of the week). It was a lovely break even with the weather and the transport problems. I will come again in the near future I have fallen for Yorkshire in a big way. The food in the area, is all good, big portions and very tasty too. I did not find a bad meal all the time I was there. If you find yourself with the chance to come here do not delay, you will not regret it 10/10 5 Stars all the way.

  • Tim was a very good host I stayed here With my running group (16 adults) for two nights, if we needed anything or didn’t know how to operating something tim was very quick to respond and assist. The areas is great for long walks or runs, especially if you enjoy hills. We will definitely be back here.

  • Wharfedale Lodge is a stunning property in a beautiful area. We had everything we needed for a large group. Tim was very helpful when needed but the place is set up well, so we were mostly self sufficient. The pub in the village is great and we enjoyed some fabulous walks. The only caution is that the property is on a busy road with no pavements so hi-vis and torches are recommended!
