  • What a gorgeous place to stay! The cabin is cozy and clean, with all necessary amenities. And Alex is helpful and knowledgeable about where to find amazing views and hiking trails. Loved being able to relax away from daily life and responsibilities in such a stunning area. I'll definitely be staying again!

  • Great cabin with property to yourself. Lots of landmarks on a map to visit and a couple good look outs.

  • If you are truly looking to escape and get away from the typical day to day life, this is the right place! A beautiful off-grid cabin in an amazingly natural setting. I will definitely book a longer stay next time.

  • Alex's cabin is located on a spectacular property. The cabin was clean, well organized and cozy. There are plenty of wildlife on the property, it's perfect if that's what you're looking for. He is a wonderful host, directions & local tips were spot on. I definitely recommend!!! Hope to be back soon.

  • My stay at Alex's little shack was amazing. He gave us a mini tour of the place with instructions to go to amazing trails and great views. We spent a lot of time in the woods. It's a very calm and relaxing spot. It's super cozy and I would 100% recommend this place for a calm getaway. Make sure to bring warm pyjamas, because it can get a bit cold at night. A part from that, it was perfect! We really felt at home. Thank you Alex :)

  • Beautiful cabin & interior. Great location. Went skating through the forest, which was a 3 min drive away. Lots of kitchen supplies to cook with. We had a lovely time!

  • Very nice place ... lots of nice touches! Go for it!

    Genevieve2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kaara and Stacy's place was just like the pictures with special little extras to boot. My little two loved the toy selection and hammock. My 4-year-old also told me how much he LOVED the water (it comes from an artesian well and tastes amazing). The view couldn't be more beautiful. When an unexpected problem arose, the owners were easy to reach and quick to send help. Our family of 6 would go back in a heartbeat.

    Trista2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our stay at Oslo Hus. The place was very clean and it was great to have small notes perfectly placed throughout the living space to help us. Great location and amazing view! Their chalet is beautifully decorated and feels really cozy.

    Paramaseeven2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay here! The cottage was beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The hosts responding quickly to any messages we sent and were very clear about the rules and expectations which made our stay even easier. Very peaceful and quiet, the lack of cell service was not missed at all. A great way to detach from a busy life and just relax and unwind. We loved the view during the day and the warmth from the woodstove at night. We would absolutely stay here again!

    Sean2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so very wonderful. Stylish, with everything we could possibly need (though, please do make a mental note that you have to bring your own bedsheets and pillowcases). Prime location, overlooking the lake, and just a few minutes away from the stunning Patinage en Forêt. We loved it!

    Dian2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We are a city/suburb couple looking for a quick road trip with a beautiful space and scenery. We had a great stay here! This area is so peaceful and relaxing. You're required to bring your own towels and sheets but prefer to do this when we can so it's a non-issue for us. This house is very well equipped with everything we needed to make meals and the space is very comfortable. Great recommendations to checkout a nearby town called Wakefeild and the locals were so friendly! We also took a day trip to Ottawa which is about a 45minute drive. If you're going during winter, we highly recommend checking out skating in the forest, it is magical. Great little touches around the home and we appreciated all the little notes around the place! Last but not least, the water pressure in the shower was better than expected which was a great surprise:) Definitely worth the trip out here.

Very bright and cozy studio house with wonderful views of nature out all windows. This small house is definitely off the beaten path and great for a total escape. During the winter months when weather is unpredictable you may have to walk up the driveway depending on your vehicle. Winter tires are a must and AWD is recommended but not always necessary. We are here to assist you. The house is located on our property but very private and separate.
This is a rural setting located at 243 Ch Du Lac Bernard. The house on the same property as ours yet very private as all windows face off into nature. You have your own outdoor space with a campfire if you wish to use it. We share a driveway and you drive past our house to get to yours. We are a family of 4 living in the adjacent house with two kids aged 12 and 14. We also have a small dog. You will be left completely alone unless you request our assistance with something and we will be happy to help. Driving times Wakefield 12 mins. Lac Phillip Sector of Gatineau Park - hiking, snow shoeing and skiing 10 -15 mins Downhill skiing at: Vorlage in Wakefield 12 mins. Sommet Edelweiss 25 mins. Mont Ste. Marie 45 mins. Ottawa 45 mins
This is a beautiful area to live in with pastural fields of sheep, small lakes with swimming holes and plenty to do year round. The small house is located on our residential property but is still very private. We are always close by to answer questions and offer ideas on what to do in the area. If staying in and hibernating, writing or just relaxing during your stay is what you desire we can assure you will have complete privacy. We like our privacy too! This is a farming area and we have chickens and equipment sheds. We are also bee keepers and gardeners. We have a vegetable garden but no bee hives at the residence. None of this will affect your place but you will drive by chickens on the way to your house.
  • Beautiful location! Perfect for a quiet weekend get away

    Hannah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Lucille’s private and cozy cabin! The cabin is one of the most thoughtfully and creatively designed spaces we have visited, and it captures the stunning view of the valley. Lucille and Leaf are generous and very helpful hosts! Great location for outdoor activities in Gatineau park, Wakefield or Nordik Spa depending what your interests are. We would definitely go back !

    Muneesha2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice stay at this cabin in the middle of the woods. The studio is well designed, the kitchen is complete, there is even a bunch of spices and other little things. Lucille answered really quickly when we texted her with questions, which is always nice. This Airbnb is the perfect setting for a nice and relaxing vacation.

    Mireille2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The photos of the listing just doesn't do this place justice. It is such a beautiful and cozy little cabin where you can get up and take your coffee while looking at deers and wild turkey running around. We are charmed.

    Alexandre2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little space great for a quiet get away with your partner. Even though it’s on the owners land it is very private. Not a single disruption

    Richard 2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place was lovely, prettier inside than in the photos. The perfect get away for two.

  • Great location with a cute dog!

    Julien2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect charming location, beautiful decor. A very very comfy, cozy spot to relax and enjoy the silence. The kitchen is well stocked and well equipped to cook pretty much anything you want to. The sauna is an awesome touch, as are the chickens and farm fresh eggs for sale. We'll be coming back! :)

  • My dog and I had a nice stay. The cottage, especially the yard, was a bit smaller than expected, but it did not really bother us. Unfortunately for us, as it was raining and warm, walking on the lake was not an option and the road was muddy. We still managed to find a trail nearby and were able to go on a small hike, which was nice. That being said, the place is very cute, clean and modern. It has everything you need, the bed is comfortable, and overall, we had a very good time.

Definitely worth coming back to any time. It’s private enough if you’re looking to disconnect from neighbours but also close enough to interact with the community. Recommend to anyone looking to stay at a cottage for a weekend

  • Lovely spot. Was there for an event nearby so did not spend much time there. However, it was very clean, and the hosts were very helpful. Thanks again!

  • Very nice stay! Pictures don’t do it justice. Bigger than we thought, very nice patio area. Very clean. Good hosts as well. We were running low on firewood after the first night and after messaging them, they brought more wood within the hour. Peaceful area, nice lake.

    Cath2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Second time coming. Love the location

    Yasmin2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage with great amenities! We had a blast and would definitely come back again. The water in the cottage is a bit smelly due to iron in it but the board games, paddle boats, canoe and many other amenities more than compensate for the smell. Also, the hosts provide bottled water.

    Carlos2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a group of 8 kayakers that came to the whitewater region to play on the big Ottawa rapids. We loved coming back to the cabin after playing on the river or hiking. It was such a nice space to hang out together and talk about the highlights from our day. We divided up the three bedrooms and still had plenty of space for three air mattresses in the living room. The grill and kitchen made it so fun and easy to have big dinners and cook breakfast together nearly every day of our stay.

Embrace the unique experience of staying in a guest house located in the country-side of the Gatineau Hills. A cute little guest house nestled on a 7 acre hobby farm. Laying chickens provide fresh eggs daily, and large gardens in the summer provide fresh crisp vegetables. The Guest House has a small walk-in that leads to the main kitchen/dining area. Living quarters are small and ideally can fit 2 people comfortably. Climb up the stairs and the bedroom/bathroom is combined in an open concept.
Love fresh eggs in the morning? We have omega-3 farm fresh eggs daily for $5/dozen. Please send us a message before your arrival if you would like to purchase some.
Brennan’s Hill is a small town with lots of character. Home to a corner store for those last minute items and a family-run bar with a unique boutique attached. A must stop-in for delicious food and a drink before heading down the back road. Low, QC is approx. 8km away. The Trans-Canada Trail is a great starting point for many activities. Walking, cycling, and in the winter months snowmobiling. The Gatineau River boarders the town. Boats can be docked at the local wharf located in Low, QC
  • Great place to relax and enjoy the county side. The guest house was sparkling clean and the bed very comfy! The hosts are super nice and make sure you have everything you need. The quinte little town of Wakefield is not too far a drive. There we enjoyed walking our dog on the small trails that run along the river. I recommend checking out the cute boutique End of the Line where you can find some unique items, some of which are hand made by local artists..The lady working there was so nice and welcoming! We are definetly looking forward to returning this summer with our doggy!

The studio is a lovely large bright loft with deck overlooking fields and garden. It has everything you need for a peaceful getaway. The kitchen is well stocked with basics, and includes fresh local eggs and bread. About 40 minutes from downtown Ottawa, we're 15 minutes from the vibrant village of Wakefield, QC., and the Gatineau Park and several ski hills.
The main room is spacious and bright, and in the summer the deck is a popular spot for relaxing. It has a full bathroom downstairs, and a kitchen equipped with stove, fridge, toaster oven, toaster, coffee pot. Anything you are missing you can ask for! It has closet space and comfy beds - a queen sofa bed, and a single in it's own cozy space.
This area provides the choice of solitude or activity. The studio is a wonderful retreat space, yet it's proximity to Wakefield means you can enjoy the busy life the riverside village offers: Theatre, the Wakefield Film Festival, the famous Black Sheep, the summer Saturday markets. In winter there's x-c skiing/showshoeing (snowshoes available to borrow) in the park (or bushwhacking locally), skating through the woods or skiing at one of the several ski hills, etc. Oh - and super restaurants from comfy/casual to formal and coffee shops aplenty.
  • Edie Jane was so helpful and accommodating for our last minute trip and was a great host! We had a wonderful stay at her beautiful studio. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting, and the little details really made our getaway memorable! Would highly recommend it.

    Sholom2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Edie Jane's place is spectalcular. I can't say enough about it -- it's the best place we've ever rented on AirBnB. Edie Jane is an incredibly accommodating host. She went above and beyond -- she brought us fresh eggs and lovely bread and we were invited to take home handmade soap and the place was stocked with lots of things like oil and vinegar etc.. skiied straight from the door and explored for hours. The best part about it was the quiet. If you want a peaceful getaway, this is it. We will definitely be back.

    Nancy2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was wonderful! We had a great time.

  • Wonderful, generous and accommodating host. Edie Jane went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. The barn was incredible. Spacious, quiet and had every amenity and beyond with local eggs and bread. The horse and pony outside added such a nice touch. Can’t wait to come back!

    Alexa2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice place, perfect for a quiet retreat. Surrounding landscapes are just splendid, particularly during the autumn colours period. Edie Jane is very available and welcoming, I would clearly recommend the place!

  • Very nice place to have a retreat! Cute, very clean, and equipped with all what's needed. Our 2-year-old son was very happy to walk on the land, to see the horses and the sheep down the road. We definitively recommend it!

It's a nice quiet area. Neighbors are mostly seniors and not picky on noise if you wanted to have a blast out by the fire pit. On site mechanic as well ;). Welcome to all emmeneties 5 minutes from shawville and multiple swimming areas within minutes from here. Bring ur dog or your cats hell bring ur horse if you'd like. As long as your comfortable I'm comfortable. Cash would be easiest but I can also do E-transfer for payment arrangements.. 2 minutes from main highway 148.
It's a cozy single floor Bungalow with nature right at your back door along with nice walking area quiet little neighborhood your 5 minutes from town for necessities mind you the use of the fire pit is weather permitting but always available there's plenty of parking and it somewhere you can be comfortable around the host cuz I don't mind providing a comfortable night stay. There is also roughly 3000 square feet of back yard if your more of the camp night out type. Bring ur tent if you'd like :). 10 minutes from the shawville fair wich happens to start in this thursday. If you type in my address it will not come up in Google Maps simply type in Caldwell Qc and when you get to the stop sign in that little town I'm just off to the right :). But the address is the proper adress
I love the fact that I am close to town yet if I want to take off the other direction for the same 5 km as it would be to town I'm in a completely quiet area.

  • Really nice and cozy place . Host very welcoming . Thanks Ethian and April for the short stay. Appreciate it

    Sharon2018-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time, Ethian and his girlfriend April were great hosts, they gave us clear directions, greeted us when we arrived, told us some cool stuff nearby (creepy abandoned church= so cool!) and we talked and hung out with them and had a bonfire! This is the perfect place to stay if you love animals, their 4 kitties and 2 dogs are super friendly and snuggly. The house is in the breathtaking Quebec countryside and the view of the stars at night is astounding. Overall very enjoyable stay (great price too) and would highly recommend to any friend!

River Studio is a sweet rustic little spot. Perfect for a couple to spend a romantic weekend or a writer to hide out and finish her first novel. It is nestled in the woods but located within walking distance of the artistic village of Wakefield. Skiing, horseback riding, hiking, art galleries, interesting bars and fine dining are just minutes away. While at River Studio, enjoy the cozy space, have a sauna and use the very private outdoor shower. (Don't worry, we have an indoor shower too.)
There are very few, if any places in the area on Airbnb suited for 2 people, let along one so intimate, cozy and private - let alone directly on the river, within an easy walking distance to the Village.
It certainly has been suggested that there is no place like Wakefield in all of Canada: - 23 minutes from a major urban area (happens to the Capital) - more restaurants, cafes and, live music per capita than New York City (Ok helps when there are only 400 people in the village, but still, over 10 places to eat, drink and/or listen to live music) - picturesque with the hills, river and a defined Village. The water quality to so good, you can virtually drink it. Hiking and walking trails galorer, both in the immediate environs and a 10 minute walk away from the Gatineau Park. - Ski Hill - General Store (which is a full grocery store) - Bicycles, canoe and stand-up paddle board rental shop The list goes on - a Village that has everything.
  • This could not have been a more perfect stay, everything was perfect and I cannot wait to come back; You will LOVE it and you won't want to leave :-)

    Sarah2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The River Studio was such a tranquil, cozy spot with a beautiful view of the river. The private sauna was a perfect way to unwind after spending time skiing in Gatineau Park. The cabin was warm, clean, and had everything we needed to prepare simple meals and coffee. Allyson provided very thorough & clear instructions for us on arrival and for check out and we knew we could reach out if needed. Thanks again!!

    Ashley2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Allysun’s cabin. We love it, location is great. Wonderful place to get away from the city for a night. Nature lovers will be happy. Relaxing and comfortable

    Krista2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Allysun's place was the perfect spot for a quiet, cozy getaway for two. Perched on a hill just above the Gatineau River, it has beautiful views of the river and surrounding hills. The big windows let loads of sunlight in, and the little woodstove added a touch of extra warmth and charm to our stay. Getting to relax in the sauna was quite a treat as well! All in all, I would highly recommend a stay at the River Cabin.

    Samantha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time here! The setting was beautiful and it was perfect for the two of us.

    Owen2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful stay. The view, the fireplace, location were all wonderful. Very clean! Would love to stay in the fall so we could see the colors and open the window. 20 min walk to town where there are a few great bars. The tv has hookups to bring either a DVD player or hard drive to watch movies. We could not have asked for a better experience!

    Sarah2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay. The studio is really cute and has so many windows. It was super cozy to sit by the woodstove and enjoy the beautiful view of the forest and river. The hosts were friendly and quick to respond.

    Kira2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • As the other reviews say, this place is a great little getaway for a couple! We particularly enjoyed the privacy, view of the river from the sauna, the wood stove, and the sauna itself of course. Location was also ideal - close to Wakefield town and also plenty of trails and slopes in the area. The host took great care to ensure the place was ready for us. Much appreciated!

Communicating with Benoit and Denis ( co-host) was seamless. We will definitely try to stay here again when we need to relax next to a lakeside fire!

Beautiful lakefront cottage near Ladysmith. 1 hr & 15 minutes from Ottawa. Steep hill to get in to cottage. Need 4-wheel drive in winter. Big deck overlooking lake. 3 bedrooms. Linens & towels provided. Open concept living, dining & fully-equipped kitchen area, family room (TV/ lots of DVDs), 2 full bathrooms (only 1 in the winter), basement with ping pong, and screened-in porch. BBQ. all pine floors, beautiful bright, sunny spaces. Lots of outdoor spaces, with tables and chairs for eating outside, adirondack chairs for lounging, a trampoline and gibbon line and games.
Ladysmith is a 10 minute drive, with a corner store. Shawville is a 20 minute drive, with grocery, shops, video store, ice cream shop, hardware store, etc. This is cottage country--there are dirt roads to get into the cottage
  • Wonderful place! We had a wonderful New Year's week with family.

    Bernard2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • My family loved this beautiful cottage that offered a very serene location where we could view the beavers and all kinds of wildlife. The open concept of the cottage was great as we were able to be together at all times. The ping pong table and foosball in the basement was a definite success with the kids. The windows all around the cottage made for a beautiful scenery. We do plan to return during the summer.

    Renee2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • gorgeous - idyllic - magical. this spot is a hidden gem in the Quebec woods. the pictures are nice but don’t do the place justice as much as the live experience does. large open space with smart layout and stylish decor, make it very comfortable for 6 people. patio view of the lake is stupendous all day but especially in the morning. house is secluded and quiet and has a private dock which makes this cottage a real find if you need to get away from it all. Seema was a joy to communicate with. very chill. we’re coming back!

    Michèle2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing time at the cottage. Lots of things on hand to use, everything we needed for our stay. Had enough kayaks for everyone to enjoy. The lake view was beautiful and great for swimming and fishing. Great indoor and outdoor living spaces.

    Nasir2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great family vacation. The cottage was very well equiped, from kayaks and a paddleboard, to the trampoline and kids toys, to a large selection of dvds and boards games.

    Trevor2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! The photos didn’t do it justice. A beautiful little cottage, well laid out with comfy beds and lovely pillows and linens. Plenty of space for teenagers and kids to not get on each other’s nerves!! The hosts were welcoming and easy to communicate with. They gave excellent details and arriving at the cottage was stress free. The lake is beautiful and this cottage definitely has the best swimming dock. The lake is small but has access to a larger lake for a bit of an adventure, kayaks are provided for everyone in the family. We had rainy weather on and off and enjoyed the fantastic array of indoor games and activities. Great reading materials for all ages and movies to curl up to. I have not one negative thing to say, a superior experience!

  • This cottage is very charming and comfortable. As soon as we arrived we were taken back by the beauty and privacy. The inside of the cottage had everything we needed- the beds were comfortable and the place was well kept and clean. I would definitely recommend this cabin to families, friends or a couple looking for some alone time. The hosts were really easy to communicate with, and were quick to respond. Quiet and serene, its a great place to relax and get away from it all!

    Sophie2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • I looked for a short stay getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life and found it at The Loon Call. This brought memories of my boy scout days with the perfect amount of 'roughing' it and comfort. Once the fireplace makes the cabin toasty warm choose your comfy seat, put your feet up, sip some spiked egg nog and let your troubles melt away. I only stayed a short time but felt like it was a week as it was so quiet and relaxing. I've stayed in numerous cabins and cottages over the years and this is by far my favourite. No brainer...I'm coming back!

    Chayse2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Loon Call far exceeded our expectations, and served as a perfect long weekend retreat for my group of friends. No wifi, no electronics, yet with the comforts of running and hot water, shower, flushable toilet, and a general store 5 minutes away by car. These combined with the homely cottage itself, situated in serene surroundings, provided the environment to detach from technology and connect with the people around you. Blaise and Emma were more than gracious hosts, making sure that everything was smooth for the duration of our stay. Extra thoughtful touches and surprises were in wait for us on arrival. If it isn’t obvious at this point we had an excellent time, and would do it again, if the opportunity arises.

    Henry2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Loon Call is an amazing cottage on a stunning, quiet lake. Cottage life respects the environment, which makes for beautiful wildlife around and enhances your (re)connection with nature. Emma & Blaise are wonderful, responsive and accommodating hosts and they make absolutely sure you get the best experience. We enjoyed every minute of our stay in their wonderful vacation home.

  • Tammy's place was absolutely a gem. Spotlessly clean, conveniently located, quiet, cozy and relaxing. Both my partner and I enjoyed a bag of chips left for us upon arrival, and Tammy's attention to detail is delightful, as well as fresh, clean linens on our bed and total peace and tranquility. We highly recommend Tammy's place and thank her for a wonderful stay.

  • The house was charming with plenty of space. Super clean and tidy. We were in Shawville for a wedding and having a house in town made things so easy. Just a minute walk to a nearby restaurant for a tasty (and low-priced) breakfast. This was my first time using an Airbnb and Tammy was quick to answer my questions. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it for anyone traveling to Shawville.

  • Halverson house is a wonderful place to stay. The fireplace and jacuzzi were very cozy in the winter, we also did some sledding. There was a nearby ice skating ribbon as well. The house has everything we could need and more, including a very well stocked kitchen, towels and robes for the spa, plenty of firewood, and some very delicious cinnamon buns. There were also boarg games, books, and movies for more of a quiet night in. The bed was very comfortable, and the house clean and beautiful. Darlene and Kevan were very accommodating, even when we were delayed by snow. We're already planning our next trip back!

  • Such a cozy place for a weekend away. Darlene has done a great job of providing everything you might need for your stay plus nice little touches you may not expect but that are so nice to have. The personal check-in was friendly and thorough, and there are clear instructions in the cottage for anything you may need to know. The fireplace and outdoor hot tub are great. : ) Would highly recommend a stay here.

This 5 minute walk to notorious downtown Wakefield tourist home with a/c, BBQ and nearby private waterfront dock can be your riverside fantasy! The classic (1890’s built / restored) residence includes a dock with awesome view for relaxing / swimming (close spot to launch canoe, kayak, etc.), proximity to restaurants, shops, bars and everything else this charming village has to offer, and all the amenities for up to 6 guests including 50w Netflix sound (25% week, 33% month discount).
This funky home is rumored to have been built by and for the workers who put in the infrastructure for the train, which went into service in the early 1890s. It's been through many owners and tenants since, including a birdhouse-building chicken and duck fancier, and a life-loving gentleman whose husky may have been even more free-spirited and famous than his master.
It's a funky old home on a paved rural road in this friendly touristic small town neighborhood. There's vehicles, bikes and people going for walks (some with and without their dogs on leashes, plus the occasional free-range friendly village dog or cat). As the home with deck in front is close to the road, and a neighbor is just across the street, it's important that any guest dogs are well-behaved (the dock across and up the road is more private, however it's not far down the shoreline from where people during the day hangout, launch their canoes, etc., throw sticks for their dogs, and so on). On Sundays from approx. 10am to 2pm through the summer there is some noise from cyclists, as Ch. Riverside access is restricted for their use excepting local traffic, from the junction with Ch. Rockhurst near the home to where the road eventually meets Route 105 in Cascades approx. 10 km south.
  • Had a great weekend away from the city, at Ken's! The space was clean, had everything we needed (fully stocked kitchen with tools, utensils, coffee, tea) and the fire place was an incredible touch. Would definitely stay again

  • Donna and her husband are a kind, lovely couple. The cottage is cozy for a smaller family of 3 or 4. The craftsmanship of the place and cleanliness is a 5/5! You can walk right out to the river. Just make sure to put on a life jacket! My teens and I were so excited to get in the water, we forgot and struggled to row the row boat. The river gradually drifted us away. Thankfully our neighbours were around and helped us back to shore. 😂 The evenings are perfect, with the easy sound of water flowing by, and the fire pit for roasting marshmallows and conversation. We even took the time to watch the sunset 🌅 It was a lovely weekend getaway. We went water rafting with Rafting Momentum and found out the next day Donna’s husband crew built their barnyard. It is definitely one to admire. All and all we would recommend Donna’s place if you’re looking for a quiet getaway or just want to enjoy the Ottawa River. The cabin is stocked with dishes, pans, coffee maker, a mini fridge, hot plate, a small tv, towels, toiletries and all. Lol Donna was the sweetest hottest with the mostest. Everyone we met in the area was extremely nice. 😊

  • Fully stocked kitchen. The small fridge is a bar fridge though. The pedal boat is great. My children had a great time. The cabin is in close proximity to other guests, but my children enjoyed meeting new people. The space is beautiful, and the area is nice. Would recommend to people who don’t plan on bringing a pet. :)

  • Amazing experience! The cottage and land was absolutely beautiful! Was the perfect distance from the city just about an hour from our home in Gatineau the area was quite and secluded and we had a chance to use the canoe and the lake was beautiful and scenic. 5 stars for sure and we already booked to come back again next month.

    Michelle2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Martine's place is absolutely beautiful. The location/view is spectacular. The home itself is very clean with a nice large common area. My family and I enjoyed our stay immensely.

  • A beautiful chalet / cottage. Plus the fall colours made the drive in and view of the lake quite spectacular. Yes, I recommend this place, as long as you can handle a steep path from the cottage down to the lake.

Come and stay in our magical wooden yurt on 450 acres of pristine mature forests over 5 distinct peaks spanning an elevation range of 300 feet. It is not uncommon to hear the howling wolves in the valley below the south ridge. This is a truly wilderness/wildlife off-the-grid outpost and meant for true nature lovers. Visit us to disconnect your cell and reconnect with nature! Feel free to visit our website for the full story of LeTerrain.land and what to expect from your wilderness experience!
Your experience starts with a 10 minutes walk from the main house where you are welcome to park your car. In the summer and fall seasons feel free to drive your car off road on a simple trail right to the yurt. The yurt is located at the northern end of our 450 Acre land parcel which is surrounded by hundreds of acres of more wilderness. Your drinking water, a cooler with ice, firewood for the wood stove (in Winter, or if needed), and bedding is all at the yurt. All you need is your clothes and food. As mentioned, the yurt is off-the-grid, meaning there is no running water. However, there is a moderate solar power set up which is really just for lights. That said, there is no WiFi or cell reception at the yurt, but you will find reception on any of the 5 peaks on the range. The closest is just behind the yurt and a five to ten minutes walk to the top. Enjoy the WiFi detox and connect with the nature! There is no bathroom, and no kitchen or kitchen supplies in the yurt. However, you will have access to a quaint and well-kept outhouse outside of the yurt. Enjoy the modern BBQ for grilling under the stars. Oh the stars!!! There is NO light and NO noise pollution in our night skies. The stars on a clear night are breathtaking. In fact, we are part of an organization that is working on making this region a Dark Sky Preserve recognized by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. The potential of this facility is vast. We are open to all kinds of group visits and gatherings that include the yurt and its sister cabin (located on Southern ridge about 1 Km from cabin) as well as camping options in the clearings surrounding the yurt. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and proposals regarding your potential stay. We are here to help facilitate your immersion back into beautiful wilderness. If you need special arrangements for late check in or assistance in getting to the yurt, please let us know with your initial inquiry. We will be more than happy to accommodate your requests.
The tiny town of Ladysmith is located ten minutes from our land. There is an extremely convenient convenience store/gas station that sells everything from windows to whisky and the hotel/bar kiddy corner to it serves a fine poutine. This is Quebec yet the areas' unique German/Prussian history finds it mostly English speaking to this day. Our log farmhouse was built by one of the original German settlers to this area.
  • The yurt is the perfect weekend getaway, even in early Spring! The trails around the property are great for an afternoon walk and the yurt has all the basics you need.

    Frederique2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible 24 hours to recharge, uplug and connect to silence and nature. Such a special place ... Loved the uniqueness and warmth of yurt, the stars, the land, the howling wolfs at night. Magical indeed! Steve is a beautiful, genuine host and is so proud of his property. We were greeted by big smiles and all the info we needed. So grateful for his kindness from our first communication. Hard to leave and can't wait to return. Loved the look of the new cabin too! Amazing. Thank you!

    Victoria2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancee and I were looking for a quiet, off the grid, relaxing weekend in nature. This space was exactly what we were looking for. The Yurt itself was really cute and quaint. It had the the essential basics. Steve provided all of the necessities we required and was always available if needed. The area had beautiful snow-shoeing trails that we spent all weekend. Also, our dog loved the space as it was remote and it allowed him to run free and explore along with us. In the Yurt it was extremely peaceful to sit by the wood stove and read our books in the hammock. Overall, a wonderful place to stay and we would definitely return!

    Andrew2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time in the yurt enormously. Steve had a cozy fire going when we arrived. After the drive from the city, we appreciated the short walk from where we parked the car. The yurt is well equipped with pots and dishes; outside is the bbq (although we cooked our food on the stove), and a cooler as well. We were very comfy on the sofa bed, with lots of pillows. The solar lights are delightful. We were warm, and relaxed completely. We also appreciated the trails as did our dogs and we did some exploring. Loads of deer around and we heard wolves, saw a peregrine falcon and woodpeckers. Can’t wait to go back in another season.

    Ana2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's yurt is stunning; the carpentry is masterful and the space is beautifully set up. Steve made sure that we had everything we needed and went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable. The forest surrounding the yurt is enchantingly beautiful and we walked on the trails in the back to a stunning lookout. Such a special addition to a winter camping experience! We had an absolute blast and look forward to being able to stay again. Don't miss this place if you want a fun adventure!

    Megn2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful place. We love everything about this property, from the hiking/ski trails, to the nearby towns , to the night sky. Our dog looks forward to this newly minted holiday tradition of having winter fun at Le Terrain. We've stayed at the yurt and the cabin, and recommend both highly.

    Malcolm2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place with an extraordinary host. My partner, pup and I absolutely loved our time here and are already excited to stay again. Steve, is a fantastic host who really takes his time to make you feel welcomed. The Yurt its self is beautiful and homey, and honestly very warm haha. We loved the watching the stars at night and listening to the wolves howl at the moon, it was a very immersive experience and a great way to disconnect and relax. Thank you again Steve, and see you soon!

    Jesse2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Steve’s place was great. True authentic off the grid nature experience! Yurt was comfortable and charming. The property was amazing , private and filled with trails to explore. Great lookouts for seeing the fall colors & star gazing at night. Steve was a great host , easy communication and passionate about the property / upkeep & guests experience! We will be returning for sure.

    Youssef2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin, very spacious and includes a lot of amenities. Clean and nicely decorated. Really enjoyed the open grass space at the back to the woods and fire pit. Beach is a very short walk and beautiful, the water was so warm as well! Trisha was a very nice and friendly host and very flexible. My only complaint is there are a lot of cabins close together, which means a pretty busy spot. The weekend we went was also very hot and the cabin doesn't get any air flow so bring lots of fans!!!

  • Amazing experience had by all at Gabriel’s cottage for our girls getaway! We all slept comfortably and had plenty of room to hang out. Gabriel was responsive to inquiries and left thoughtful touches. The place was breathtaking and I would love to return with my family.

  • This place is unbelievable. It is clean, well equipped and extremely spacious. Our group of 8 had nothing but positive things to say about this chalet. Gabriel is a great host and communicates well with his guests. He even had a bottle of champagne ready on the kitchen counter for us which gave us a welcoming feel. I highly recommend this cottage, we are already planning to come back next summer.

Come and stay in our cozy cabin on 450 acres of pristine mature forests over 5 distinct peaks spanning an elevation range of 300 feet. It is not uncommon to hear the howling wolves in the valley below the cabin. This is a truly wilderness/wildlife off-the-grid outpost and meant for true nature lovers. Visit us to disconnect your cell and reconnect with nature! Feel free to visit our website for the full story of LeTerrain.land and what to expect from your wilderness experience!
Your experience starts with a 15-20 minutes hike from the main house where you are welcome to park your car. We will provide you with a map and additional information. Therefore, please be sure to arrive well before dark and pack lightly. The cabin is located in the heart of our 450 Acre land parcel which is surrounded by hundreds of acres of more wilderness. Your drinking water, a cooler with ice, firewood for the wood stove (in Winter or if needed), and bedding is all at the cabin. All you need is your clothes and food. As mentioned, the cabin is off-the-grid, meaning there is no running water. However, there is a moderate solar power set up which is really just for lights. That said, there is no WiFi however, there are a couple of bars cell reception at the cabin so you can usually squeeze text and email through. You will find reception on any of the 5 peaks. Enjoy the WiFi detox and connect with the nature! There is a bathroom in the cabin with a modern Swedish made Eco toilet as well as a quaint and well-kept outhouse outside of the cabin. The loft is made for two and is a super cozy spot to sleep. There is also a pull-out couch for two in the main room of the cabin. The screened in porch is a gem of a place to spend an afternoon/evening. Have a nap after hiking through the wilderness. Prepare a BBQ while overlooking the valley. Sleep under the stars. We are open to all kinds of group visits and gatherings that include the cabin and its magical sister yurt (about 1km hike from cabin) as well as camping options in the clearings surrounding the yurt. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and proposals regarding your potential stay. We are here to help facilitate your immersion back into beautiful wilderness. If you need special arrangements for late check in or assistance in getting to the cabin, please let us know with your initial inquiry.
  • Steve is a great host, he made sure everything was ready for us. The place is very cozy and the view is amazing like we expected. I would totally recommend this place for a nice getaway.

    Mariana2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Steve’s place is wonderful, and the cabin is lovely in the winter time. Not only is Steve incredibly communicative, he’s also gone above and beyond to make sure our stay was smooth and safe. Our cabin was toasty before our arrival even though there’s a snow storm outside. It’s the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and be in nature completely off grid. I hope to return one day during the summer seasons to explore some more!

    Alice2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for hiking, beautiful night sky, you could hear wolves howling at night, and Steve is a great and gracious host. Thanks for a wonderful winter getaway!

  • This place is amazing if you are looking for a wilderness experience. Steve goes above and beyond to help you make your stay comfortable. He has excellent knowledge of surroundings and helped us to make our trip a memorable one. Look forward to see u soon Steve.. :))

  • This place is UNREAL. After a drive through the most dragonflies and butterflies I think I’ll ever see in my lifetime, my mom and I were promptly greeted by Steve when we arrived, and he most graciously offered to drive our bags up to the cabin so we wouldn’t have to lug anything (my mom is an over-packer of food so we did not pack very light as recommended in the listing-sorry Steve!). After a bit of a hike, we were met with the most spectacular view. It was breathtaking. We diligently watched the forest wall along the valley hoping to catch a glimpse of an animal walk through but were instead gifted with some eagle sightings and the surreal sounds of a wolf pup (or perhaps a coy-wolf) howling! We also heard a moose! We were surprised at the lack of bird sounds with so many trees surrounding us but it allowed us to experience a deafening silence like never before. What a feeling. Once the sun set the crickets came out and so did the stars. WOW. You feel like you don’t have enough eyes to really capture how many you can see (if that makes sense). We enjoyed our evening by the fire pit and it was just so lovely. The morning of checkout Steve and his handsome dog, Inook, so very kindly took us on about an hour’s hike where he showed us some pretty amazing and special things. You feel like you’re part of something so much bigger and we’re so lucky that we were given the opportunity to enjoy it. Thanks a million, Steve! Best of luck with your future projects and what your journey brings you. We were already discussing our return trip on the drive back to Montreal :) Gen & Wendy P.S. Tell Inook we’ll be back with more bacon.

  • Steve’s place was exactly as advertised and his hospitality made it all the more welcoming! I’ll be sure to have his place in mind the next time we decide to stay at a cottage!

    Jeff2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • There are very few places left in this world where you can be absolutely alone in the wilderness with wildlife and no people. This place is it!! Absolutely awesome! And Steve was great and really fun to talk to and hang with for a bit. We will be returning many times!

  • Philippe is an extraordinary host. The chalet is rustic but in exceptional comfort. I love this place to the fullest '

    Chantal2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • For a couple of backcountry campers, Philippe's cabin was luxury. It was evident that the design was well thought out, from the tiling in the cabin, to all of the practical little touches. My boyfriend, dog and I were in heaven. My dog is usually quite anxious and it was nice having a weekend away where she was super relaxed. When deciding on which one of Philippe's cabins to stay in, we decided on this one, because of the hammock. The hammock did not disappoint! The location of the cabin is very nice; we loved the super tall hardwoods and all the wildlife (from the cabin we saw a Pileated woodpecker, as well as a deer while we were snow shoeing and lots of cool tracks). Philippe kept good communication. I highly suggest this place for those who appreciate the quiet, simple life -turn off your phone and bring a good book!

  • Very nice cabins in a great spot next to the pond. We love it there! The house is beautiful inside and out. It’s super clean, very comfortable and just a lovely place to stay.

  • Lovely spot very close to Campbell's Bay. Beautiful marshy lake with a nice large dock for lying out in the sun. The cabin was very comfortable with everything we needed to enjoy the weekend. Margaret and Karen were very gracious hosts. Would highly recommend if you're visiting this unique area.

    Andrea2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin made for the perfect summer vacation for my boyfriend, the puppy and I. The hosts were very quick to reply whenever I had questions and it was so lovely to meet them in person. The location was perfect for lounging around, relaxation, swimming and not doing much which is exactly what we were looking for. But had we decided to do something the location offered so many activities within a short drive. The cabin was sparkling clean with comfortable beds and everything we needed for the week.

    Michele2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We love, love, love this cottage and location! It’s about a 1.5-2 hr drive from Ottawa, but so worth it to escape! The cottage is lovely and comfortable and the covered patio and the gorgeous lake make for an amazing stay! The host provides 2 paddle boats and a canoe and a great fire-pit which we certainly took advantage of. The cottage was extremely clean and has all the basic amenities for your stay.

    Lydia2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an amazing time at the Kozy Kabin! It was everything we could have hoped for. Extremely clean with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The area was very quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view of the lake. The pellet stove was a cozy touch that we enjoyed warming up in front of after coming in from the skating rink we made on the lake. We took a drive to Mansfield to check out the area and stumbled upon the festival of lights at Parc Des Chutes Coulonge. Lit up with lights or not the waterfall was gorgeous so if you're in the area, check it out! The hosts were extremely nice and welcoming and overall we had such an amazing peaceful retreat! You will love it!

  • The cottage was perfect! Clean and well equipped. The lake was warm and pleasant to swim. The hosts were quick in responses and available if needed while we were there. No direct access to the lake, but we managed it from the paddle boats and canoe. Overall great stay, would definitely go back. really nice place.

  • My family and I had a wonderful night. Everything was as described and Philippe and his staff are very personable and approachable. The chalet was very clean and comfortable. Philippe took some additional time to ensure we had sufficient firewood for our evening campfire; one of the primary activities my children were anticipating. Location is fabulous and the quietness was wonderful. We hope to return to participate in one of the rafting tours next season.
