  • This was my 2nd trip to Joann's place and as always, a very quiet and peaceful setting with the mountains in the background. A nice little one day getaway from all of the commotion of the larger city. Very friendly people in and around the surrounding town. Highly recommended.

  • 5 stars all the way around, but at an affordable rate. Pretty cool with the trains going by, which is about 500 feet from the cottage. I would highly recommend this place to others looking to rent.

  • I do believe Joann set the bar standard for the category of being a Super Host !! Excellent value and very comfortable place to stay ! I will be telling many people of this wonderful place and wonderful lady !!

  • JoAnns place was everything we were anticipating and even more!! The house is great and has so much to offer for a family or just a couples get away! The beds were super comfy and having a washer and dryer and ironing board was so helpful!! Definitely recommend this place to anyone!!!

    Geneva2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second year we have stay at Joann’s place, it has an amazing home feeling - there is plenty of room for my toddler to run around. It’s in a small town but there is an ice cream shop and hamburger/pizzeria within a 5 minute drive. Also Joann gave us a suggestion of a small amusement park about 50 mins away that we spent one day at. We loved watching the trains from the huge living room window. We hope to be back again next year

  • As a single mother traveling alone and being nervous . When I walked in her place all my fears and worries melted away

    Brenda2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Joann is an exceptional host. Her house is amazing and she goes above and beyond for her renters. If only she could own homes everywhere we would want to travel.

Located in an old pasture in the middle of the woods, this unique camping setting will immerse you in the beauty of Pennsylvania nature. The suspended hammock tent allows you to enjoy a tent, but stay off the ground! Enjoy listening to the birds, insects, and raindrops as you drift off to sleep under a canopy of trees. You can even remove the rain fly, allowing you to enjoy the stars and moon! Be sure to bring warm clothes and sleeping bags, as nights in the tent get chilly.
This site features a suspended hammock tent that can sleep 3 persons (maximum load of 880 pounds). It will be set up prior to arrival at a maximum height of 4' above grade. There are no linens provided with the tent, so be sure to pack sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, etc. It will be cool in the tent, since you are off the ground, so pack accordingly! You will also have direct access to a small pavilion with a picnic table and fire ring. It is encouraged to bring your favorite camping cooking supplies, as we do not provide any cookware. Jugs of potable water will be supplied. A porta-pot is a short walk down the hill from this site, but no showers are available. Note that no electric is available at this site. Be sure to check out the photos for a visual representation of the site! PACKING LIST - Sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, etc - Food (bring ice chest for cold food, grocery store with ice is about 5 minutes away) - Camping cookware, plates, cups, utensils, etc. - Books, games, and a mind ready for relaxation
During your time at Airydale, there are various activities to enjoy. We provide plenty of firewood for cozy campfires. Feel free to explore the property (around 7 acres), though please be mindful of any other guests. There are tons of trees around that would be perfect to hang up a hammock and enjoy a book. Locally there are various attractions including Raystown Lake, several state parks, hiking trails, and many Amish produce and bake stands. We are sure that you will find some fun way to enjoy your relaxing stay in Airydale.
  • Super cute tree tent! It rained, but they had a cover set up so we stayed completely dry. They had everything we needed to have a great night! Would definitely do this again if I was back in the area.

  • I needed to escape after a stressful weekend! Matt was more than accommodating opening this space to me. I have always wanted to sleep in a suspended tent! I usually hammock when I camp. It was warmer than I expected, though my bag is rated to 21 degrees. It’s a symphony of nature out there, so my only suggestion to guests would be to bring ear plugs 😊 Matt even left me a local Whoppie Pie, which us western PA kids call a Gobb. It was delicious! I loved staying at Airydale and I can’t wait to come back and hopefully also check out the Glampsite! Thanks Matt!

Enjoy the comfort of a bed while on your next camping experience! Our Glamping tent provides an abundance of space to enjoy the outdoors. The tent is furnished with a double bed, basic cookware, and a propane camp stove. Enjoy a couple complementary goodies provided by your hosts! A spring on the property provides water for washing dishes and showering (heated outdoor shower!), though we recommend using the water jugs for drinking and cooking. A well maintained port-a-pot is located on site.

  • This place is amazing! From the flowers on the picnic table to the outside shower (with hot water). It doesn't get any better for glamping. The tent is such a wonderful size with any amenities that you might need. Matt has thought of everything. The only things you need to bring are your food, ice and yourself!

    Tracey E2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Five stars! Highly recommend for anyone who wants all of the great things about camping, without any of the discomfort or inconvenience. Sitting by the campfire was so relaxing & we appreciated the provided wood. We had an awesome time on our hike at Thousand Steps which is just about a 10 minute drive away. Matt is a great host & we were constantly surprised by all of his thoughtful touches around the camp site. We especially loved the ambiance inside the tent at night with the fairy lights. Thanks again!

    Caitlyn2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! Thoughtful touches like flowers and sweets waiting when we arrived. Matt was a great host and was always available if we needed anything. Our family really enjoyed it and it was a nice drive to rays town lake. We will be booking it again.

  • As the reviewers have said before, this is a fantastic glamping experience and a good introduction for people that are not familiar to camping. An exquisite outdoor shower, tent, as well as provisions for cooking and cleaning, you really have everything you need for a little glamping getaway. We plan to make this an annual trip now!

Mi casa es su casa! Beautiful spacious home in a quiet location near Penn State’s main campus in State College, PA! Beautiful mountainous scenery and a gorgeous short drive to State College. We look forward to having you stay in our home and we hope you have a wonderful time during your visit here in Central PA!
  • I couldn't ask for a better host, this was by far my best Airbnb experience hands down. The hospitality was 2nd to none and the best. The house was super clean and the location was perfect, you couldn't ask for better communication from a host. They made our trip a better experience than we was expecting. I would highly recommend staying here and when Michigan plays Penn State again this is where we will be staying

    Nate2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. Terrific hosts and accommodations. Very spacious house, spotless clean, terrific high end kitchen. Could not ask for more. Will definitely stay again.

  • Great overall experience at the house. Family was very welcoming accommodating and generous! The hosts offered dinner, breakfast and great conversation every time we saw them.House is beautiful and very clean. Would definitely stay there again.

  • We were very pleased with our stay at Ana's home! It was very spacious and sparkling clean. She was able to accommodate our large extended family including children. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. The home is very secluded, quiet, and private. We would definitely return if we are ever in need of a place in the area again. Thanks Ana!

  • Ana’s place was sparkling clean and the hospitality was top notch!

    Tanya2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous home. It's nestled on some winding roads that were easy to navigate for our vehicles and had plenty of space for us to park our cars. The homeowners are the sweetest people and were happy to help us in any way if it made our stay more comfortable. Photos were accurate and the price was simply too good when we needed 6 beds for our summer staff while we attended the Northeast Creation Festival. It's that perfect country home with lots of room both inside the house and outside! Everything you need is there (though expect a good 20-30 minute drive to Walmart). Also, your dogs were adorable and super sweet - we loved seeing their wagging tails every time we drove up to the house! Thank you for a truly wonderful experience!

Room in home in beautiful central Pennsylvania. Country setting not far from Penn State. Handicap accessible. Shared use of kitchen, LR, DR. Dogs in attached area, ask for details
House is situated on our 6 acre property and was built for my mother. My husband and I live in our own home 50 yards away so you will have privacy. Mom had mobility difficulties as she aged, so the home was built with that in mind. There is a short ramp onto the porch and one into the front door. There are dogs on the property but none in the bedroom, living room or dining area. Occasionally in the kitchen/laundry area, contact me if you have questions.
This is a very quiet country neighborhood. Relax and unwind. You may even get a visit from our chickens! You are welcome to stroll the property to enjoy country life in central Pennsylvania.

At the foot of Stone Mountain, in the "Rockville" area of Belleville, PA, a guest said that we are "tucked away from everything, but yet a few minutes from everything!" Especially now with the tree foliage! Belleville is in the heart of Amish country and 40 minutes from State College. We offer our finished basement, which has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a self serve breakfast area and room to sit and visit. We have had bed and breakfast guests for at least 7 years and thoroughly enjoy hosting!
Our guest area is quite comfortable...open area of entry allows visiting room if friends or family are staying together. It can also be used for the air mattress. Guests enjoy walks in our mountain, actually hiking can be done just outside our backdoor. It's a very peaceful setting and great if you enjoy watching birds, we have quite the variety. Our home is cooled by a split system upstairs, which also keeps the lower level comfortable. Fans available as needed. We supply bottled water in addition to the breakfast foods and of course coffee and tea! We provide microwave, toaster, small refrigerator, coffee maker and kerig.
Our neighborhood consists of several Amish homes...a very quiet neighborhood typically.
  • This place was indeed sparkling clean! Very clean! Felt very comfortable there. Super relaxing atmosphere, kinda tucked up against the mountain. And she makes great granola!

    Gene2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for you hospitality! Your house felt like home and the breakfast options were fantastic.

  • We really enjoyed our short stay in Glen and Yvonne house. It was very beautiful there, Ivonne was very helpful and caring host.

    Lucie2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely adorable place. Very private guest space and the breakfast was much appreciated before a long drive home!

    Steven2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

  • Everything was wonderful as usual. Second time staying here. Loved the little touches!

    Ruby2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Yvonne and Glenn’s home is in a beautiful valley, surrounded by woods. It is clean, spacious, comfortable and attractively decorated with beautiful handmade quilts. Yvonne made me very welcome, clearly cares about her guests, and the self service breakfast was generous. As described in the listing, it is a finished basement, built into a slope, so though entered at ground level the windows are not large, and high on the wall. The neighborhood was very peaceful. I did hear the hosts' television and voices through the ceiling in the evening, but they were not at all loud.

    Alison2019-10-07T00:00:00Z

I charge per person so it is affordable to you! Situated right in the heart of Central Pennsylvania's Amish Country, our house offers small town charm with all the amenities of the 21st Century to you and your family or group.
Take a step back in time and relax by taking in the country charm of our town. Take a look at our photos and you will see that The Belleville House is decorated in 1950’s era with all the comforts of today.
There are neighbors close by on each side of the house! We do share a driveway with one neighbor. Please respect their side of the driveway by parking next to or behind the house. The neighbors on the other side of the house have children and our yards are connected! They are ALL great neighbors and very friendly! You can sit on the front porch and watch the horse and buggy Amish go by! They are within a few feet of the front porch!

    Janet2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great house in the middle of Belleville! My colleague and I had a last minute trip to Belleville and Joann was incredibly responsive. The house was easy to find and check in was a breeze! Unfortunately we didn't get to see or do much as we were there for work, but prefer to stay in a local place vs. a chain hotel and this offered the true charm and feel of Belleville! Thanks Joann!

This cozy cottage is along a private dirt lane atop of Stone Mountain, and is surrounded by peaceful forest views.
The kitchen is fully equipped, and includes a coffee bar. The living room has plenty of cozy seating space and a functioning fire place, perfect for chilly fall and winter evenings. Wood and kindling are provided. The two bedrooms and full bath are located upstairs; bed linens and towels, plus extra blankets, are provided. Off of the living room you'll find a screened in porch with a seating area, plus an outdoor deck area with a propane grill. There is a fire ring in the backyard. The cottage is off the grid just enough that there is no WiFi available here. Take this opportunity to unplug from technology, and instead connect with the people actually surrounding you, cozy up with a good book and a cup of coffee, get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature, or simply sit and relax in the peace and quiet. We recently added a TV and DVD player, and an HDMI cable to hook your laptop up to the TV that way you have the option of downloading movies before you arrive to watch during your stay. There is also a record/CD player with Bluetooth speakers as well.
We are located just outside of Rothrock State Forest and only 2 miles from Greenwod Furnace. If you're feeling adventurous, there are lots of options for hiking in the surrounding areas, including Mid State Trail which is only a 10-15 mile hike from the cottage and offers incredible views of both Stone Valley and Big Valley. If you'd rather take a scenic drive, hop in your car and within 5 minutes you'll be in picturesque Big Valley. Take the back roads and observe the many idyllic scenes of life in Amish country. Stop in at Taste of the Valley, the local coffee shop, and grab a delicious drink or a bite to eat. Visit the numerous local country stores and shops. Stop by Brookmere Winery and sample their delicious local wine.
  • My mom and I came to Lori’s place for a writing retreat and were so blessed by the beauty of the surrounding area and relaxing atmosphere of the cottage. We had a great experience at Taste of the Valley cafe. Which, was one of Lori’s suggestions. Their food and coffee was delicious! Also, her husband suggested a hiking spot that ended up being a great way to break up our day of writing and enjoy the incredible beauty of Belleville. Lori’s home is spotless, cozy, and filled with hospitable touches and we are very grateful for our stay!

  • Allyson’s place was great for a weekend getaway. She was responsive, check in was simple, and the house was lovely!

    Elizabeth2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Allyson’s house and how cute and functional it was. The fireplace was a highlight and we loved to drink coffee and watch the fire! The house was sparkling clean when we arrived. If we are ever in PA again we would definitely stay here again!

    Janelle2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • I was so excited to find this place! It was only 3 miles from friends we were in town visiting. It is beautiful and cozy on the inside, with throws and extra blankets to get comfortable with. It was easy to get in the house and Allyson was kind enough to let us check in early since we checked out pretty early the next day. My only tip: if you’re not used to road noise like me (I live on a seasonal road), take a sound machine. It wasn’t something that woke me up once asleep-but white noise would have been helpful while trying to fall asleep. The kitchen and bathroom were charming and the washer/dryer were convenient! Thanks again for such an awesome place to stay!!

  • Cannot say enough of this place! It truly is a gem. we arrived to find a quiet and charming house located on a beautiful property. It exceeded our expectations- and we were already in love with this house. The owners had the fridge stocked with items such as bread, orange juice, eggs, and blackberries, and even had cookies ready to bake. The home was immaculately clean and had all items you could need during a short stay. They even had a foam mattress topper for the bed for extra comfort. If you’ve ever been to a one-room school house, you’d recognize the smell of old wood instantly, and this added to our liking for the place. Not to mention there was an old seat/ desk from the schooling days, which added history and depth to the original foundation of the building. The owners checked in with us half-way through our stay to see if we needed anything. We had one request, which they followed through on within ten minutes. The property is a short distance from many state parks and lakes, and a short drive to Penn State. Overall, it was a great weekend spent in a quiet and historic landmark. We would absolutely recommend these owners and this house, and we will definitely be back!

  • We had such a wonderful stay at the schoolhouse! When we arrived the space was immaculately clean, and Brandon and Christina were great to communicate with from start to finish. They were so warm and welcoming, from the breakfast in the fridge waiting for us, to bringing us cookie baking supplies, to letting our little one feed the fish in their koi pond each day we were there! The bed, foam toppers, and pillows were super comfortable, and the house had all the basics that we needed for our stay. Truly a beautiful and unique space. I would absolutely recommend staying here; we feel lucky that we were one of the first to discover it!

  • Jake was a great host and check-in/check-out and all other instructions were well communicated. We had a group of 17 and we all slept comfortably. The pool table was a blast and the hot tub was great in the evening. Kitchen was well stocked and everything was very organized and clean. Ping pong table in the rec room was a nice extra in addition to the main house. There is barely any light pollution so the stars were shining extremely bright at night as well. We stayed here for the weekend and we could've stayed even longer with all the amenities. There is even a trail you can follow up to the ridge if you wanna go for a hike. We definitely plan on coming back here for our next retreat!
