  • This is a very clean, comfortable, well appointed and centrally located apartment in a secure, quiet, and private setting. The hosts had provided welcoming touches such as bread, milk and flowers which were all much appreciated and the next door neighbour is a lovely lady. It is a 5 minute walk into the town centre yet we slept soundly every night, always felt very safe and were able to park in a resident space that is part of the apartment development. All very secure and convenient. Our hosts provided everything we needed (and more!) and were very kind and helpful throughout the whole booking process. Highly recommended for the hospitality and great value.

East View is an upstairs flat on the end of a Victorian Terrace. It’s only 5 minutes walk from Morpeth Town Centre (choose the route along the river, it’s beautiful), but just far enough out to be away from the traffic and town noise. The living space offers open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, one bedroom with double bed, and separate bathroom with a bath and shower. It's perfect for professionals and people/families looking for a well-connected base in the heart of Northumberland.
Being based in Morpeth has a number of benefits for both professionals and holiday makers alike. Morpeth is a historic market town with a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants to cater for a range of tastes. The park and river area are fantastic for family days out, with rowing boats and numerous walks through the woods and beyond. Within Morpeth and the wider area there is more or less every leisure activity that you can think of, a perfect base for anyone who enjoys outdoor pursuits. The flat is also popular with people attending weddings at the nearby venues, either within Morpeth Town Centre (walking distance), or Linden Hall, Eshott Hall, Horton Grange & all the rest of the huge amount of venues throughout Northumberland (a taxi ride away). We provide bed linen, towels, toilet roll, washing up liquid, soap, and a limited amount of tea, coffee and sugar for guests to use. Guests will need to provide food and drink for meals.
The neighbourhood is quiet and friendly, as is all of Morpeth really. There are lots of lovely places around Northumberland, but Morpeth has got to be close to the top of the list. One point to note, and this is one of the things we love about the flat, is that it overlooks allotments. It’s a really interesting view and the gardens are usually buzzing with life and activity and colour, particularly in the summer. However, if looking onto a ‘bit of muck’ isn’t your thing (the winter is less colourful!), the view might not be as appealing as it is to us!

Our home is a two bedroom, pet friendly family home situated beside the River Wansbeck. It's a 5 minute walk from Morpeth Town Centre where you can find local shops and some lovely places to eat and drink. Morpeth is a great place to explore the rest of Northumberland from as there is so much to do and see in Northumberland.
The property has a kitchen which is equipped with all the necessary utensils and appliances needed in a kitchen as well as a Tassimo coffee machine. The kitchen leads into the living room which has 2 sofas, coffee table and a gas fire. Currently the gas fire is decommissioned as we are looking at purchasing a new one. There is a two seater sofa bed and the other is a three seater sofa. The television is a 4K smart TV which means Netflix and other streaming services are available to be used during your stay. Please note the TV doesn't have an aerial for terrestrial TV. There is a leaf folding dinning table that accommodates 4 people for meal times if eating in the property. The french doors in the living room open into the garden which has a lovely area to sit in during your stay. The back garden is also secure and safe for pets to be in unattended. Upstairs has a double bedroom which contains a double bed, dressing table a TV as well as plenty of storage space. There is a second bedroom with two single beds. The bathroom has a shower and a bath for use.
Morpeth is 14 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne and only 8 miles from the coastline making it a perfect base for exploring the area. There are several areas around Morpeth to explore nearby including Alnwick, Amble, Bamburgh, Warkworth and more. Morpeth and Northumberland is great for dog walkers. There are so many beautiful places to take your dog when in the area. Morpeth is a very dog friendly town. There are several pubs and cafes that allow dogs. The Black and Grey and The Office pub along with Micah's tea room are dog friendly place to eat. Many retailers will put a sign in the window to indicate whether they are dog friendly or not. Morpeth itself is a market town with excellent facilities including a leisure centre, a award winning park, golf course and tennis courts. Shoppers can enjoy a variety of shops in Morpeth ranging from high street retailers to independent ones. Nearby we have the Intu Metrocentre which is every shoppers dream. There is food and drink facilities as well as a IMAX cinema. Morpeth offers a great selection of restaurants, cafés and bars as well as a local Morrisons for those who wish to eat at home. Every Wednesday Morpeth has a local market which is held in the town square. There is also a farmers market on the first Saturday of every month. There are some great places to eat in Morpeth. Lollo Rosso and Barluga are two of our favourites. They both have websites so if you would like to try them during your stay i would recommend that you book ahead as they are very popular places to eat at a weekend. Those that are fans of a good breakfast, there are a few fantastic breakfast diners in Newcastle, Butterfly Cabinet and The Dispensary Coffee House are some of our favourite spots for breakfast. There is a market on a Sunday morning along the Quayside in Newcastle that is great for a wander on a Sunday morning. The property is great for those looking for somewhere to stay for any weddings they are attending in the area.
  • Great place. Would’ve stayed for the week had it been available. Thanks again 👍🏻

  • Fab stay! Great location, super clean house and wonderful amenities. We loved the coffee machine. TV is super easy and great to have Netflix etc. I will be recommending this to family and friends. We will be staying again hopefully in summer. Brilliant :)

  • Lisa and Mark emailed promptly with all the details about the property. Their manual is comprehensive and has everything you need to know both in advance and on arrival. The house is like a Tardis. It appears very small from the outside but once you are inside there is a good=sized cosy and comfortable living room. The house is well equipped and spotlessly clean. Little extra touches such as the Tassimo coffee maker and leaving milk in the fridge were very welcome. Lisa and Mark also contacted us after our first night to check that everything was ok and seemed to be very approachable and ready to help.

  • Beautifully furnished and well equipped terraced house by the river in Morpeth. Brilliant communications throughout, every message and query was answered within minutes. Great value for a stay in a lovely market town, easy walk to restaurants, and shops. Great dog walks within walking distance and 20 mins drive to the most lovely and unspoiled beaches in the country. We were visiting relatives in the area just before Xmas and the house had been nicely decorated and had a Xmas tree in the living room ready for us! Great stay, many thanks!

  • David's place was a home away from home. Very well resourced, and comfortably furnished. The location is great and I would suggest leaving time for a stroll down the street to explore the local shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed the off-street parking, the laundry with a washer and dryer, the juice and croissants were a lovely touch. David was very friendly and helpful.

Bienvenido Bienvenue добро пожаловать أهلا بك 欢迎 Welcome to my home,to historic Morpeth & the unsurpassable county of Northumberland, I’m Michael & it would be a pleasure to have you as a guest in my home, an ordinary ‘60’s semi on a pleasant green girdled estate that has been home to my family for nigh on fifty years & which I now share with my twelve year old terrier-cross Toby.
The principal room available to guests is a large bedroom with king sized bed & en-suite Wet room. For group bookings there is also a bedroom with a double bed & another room with two singles. The shared bathroom has a bath(no shower currently) & will be shared with myself. The en-suite wet-room is for guests only. Apart from the main bathroom guests have the upstairs entirely to themselves as they do the living room at the front of the house with my quarters being to the rear of the house & positioned such as to allow guests privacy. Due to the size limitations of the house & proximity to my private quarters I’m afraid that the kitchen is not available to use
The house is in a truly fortunate location being but ten minutes stroll North to the beginning of open countryside with walks which include the beautiful river Wansbeck,(otters may be seen!)the High House Woods.the site of the Cistercian abbey Newminster(once the size of Fountains abbey) & the beautiful, romantic pile that is Mitford Castle.Stroll for 15 minutes east & you are in the ancient & historic county market town of Morpeth,it’s Norman motte & Bailey mound “Har Hill”rising in greeting above the wonderful little Carlisle Park & the town itself. 'INTER SYLVAS ET FLUMINA HABITANS’,so runs the motto on the crest of the town & is an apt description of what a visitor will find for themselves as they explore the compact town centre for it does indeed dwell between trees & streams.Morpeth is a town dominated by fine woodland & lies on the clear clean flow of the river Wansbeck. The town itself is well provided for in terms of shopping with many long running, independent local businesses & stores of the national type.Morpeth’s railway station is served by the east coast mainline with trains running to local destinations such as Newcastle upon Tyne & other national destinations including the capitals Edinburgh & London.Morpeth bus station is a hub from which journeys & trips may be taken as far north as Berwick upon Tweed with some coastal routes taking in the beautiful wild ancient coastline(many a castle ruin to be seen en route!) & to the south & Tyneside & also south east Northumberland too. There is a bus stand within two minutes walk of the house from which a twice hourly service to Morpeth runs.

Guests describe the house as a tardis of elegant decor, with modern amenities, and the friendliness of a home. The aspect of the river is always fascinating from season to season, with birds and, sometimes, otters swimming below. The riverside walks, restaurants and shops, individual and big names, are within a few minutes walk, with castles, islands, beaches and countryside within a short drive.

  • The directions, instructions and communication was excellent. The apartment is beautiful, spotless and with so many thoughtful added extras. Excellent location. Our first Airbnb experience, they have set the bar very high. I highly recommend it and we will return.

    Andrea2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The apartments are spotlessly clean with all the little extras that make arrival so much easier, especially when travelling with a toddler as I was. After a long journey a chocolate biscuit and wine in the fridge makes all the difference. The location is great and right in the centre of Morpeth, excellent for exploring. We will be back!

  • Well worth a stay. We loved being so close to the animals. We plan to come back when we have our baby as it's a brilliant place for kids. Our dog was also more than happy here.

    Katy2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing! My daughter was poorly our second night and Kim was so understanding after me panicking! Beautiful place! Amazing for children! Area really good! Thank you

  • Owl’s nest is a beautiful house to stay. It’s got everything you need, is perfectly clean and the environment is lovely. The animals are nice neghbours. We recommand this place to everybody.

    Wilma2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this location due to travelling with our two young 15 month old twins as we headed from Nottingham to Scotland it was a two night stopover to help break up journey. We are so glad we did and wish we could have stayed longer. The facilities at owls nest was outstanding. Everything you could wish for. On check in we found helpful notes to advise about the accomodation. The treats for the animals and wine for ourselves were a lovely touch. The accomodation was clean and well presented. Comfortable and plenty of space. Kim and Allan were out and about the premises a few times and we were able to chat to them but they basically leave you to your own devisios which is perfect. They are very helpful and kind. The animals are well attended too and a lovely bonus to wake up to or go to sleep too at night. Personally they didn't cause us any hassle with nosie. There is a train track close by but again you barely notice it. If you want something off beaten track but still close to many things this is your place.

  • The arrival instructions were spot on and Angela happened to be on the grounds when we arrived which was nice. You really are greeted with a wow factor when you enter the apartment. Downstairs is divided into living space followed by a really well equipped kitchen that leads on to a full cinema space and a downstairs toilet. There are also 2 air con units that double up as heaters in the living space and the cinema area. Upstairs are 2 very large bedrooms, both featuring really nice en-suite shower room. The whole place was a joy to stay in and spotlessly clean. Angela and her husband couldn’t have been more hospitable. I would definitely recommend staying here 👍🏻👍🏻

  • Absolutely amazing property, exactly as pictured. Even in the rain it was a gorgeous setting. Angela was one of the most welcoming people I have ever met and even gave my dog treats The local area information was superb and as a dog owner it was fantastic to get recommendations of pet friendly establishments. Angela even offeres to drop off & pick up from the pub. Every details is meticulously thought out and we definitely wouldn't hesitate to return in the future

  • Angela was lovely, both kids absolutely loved her and already said they miss her

    Johnathan2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay – the property is an annex to Angela and Keith’s main house, with plenty of secure parking and access to a huge garden. The house has 2 huge bedrooms both with en-suite showers and toilets and both bedrooms are furnished with excellent quality fixtures and fittings and both have a TV in the room with Netflix set up. Downstairs there is a kitchen and bar area with the biggest choice of glasses I have ever seen in a rental property and all the things you expect from a kitchen area. There is a bar area and a separate table for dining. The conservatory lounge area has a TV area but in addition there is a cinema style projector with 4 reclining chairs. The property is in an amazing location. We went to Cragside National trust property (in Rothbury), drove the coastal route up to Craster and on another occasion went to Whitley Bay. The best thing however is the hosts who are lovely. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids aged 6 and 9 and they absolutely loved playing with Angela and Keith’s little boy. In fact the kids didn’t want to go home. We will definitely be back.

  • Place was even more beautiful in person than the pictures, the trip would have been worth it just to stay in the property. Jon was great, showed us around and told us about the town. The area is lovely and the property is incredibly central. If we're in the area in the future we'll certainly be looking to stay with Jon-Paul again.

She showed me around the house and made sure that I was comfortable in the property and with the surrounding area. She couldn’t do enough to help me out, she was kind, chatty and her son Paul was a good laugh too! Great value for money as the house was clean, tidy and spacious. This was my first time using an Airbnb room and thanks to Margaret I’ll definitely be keen to use the service again. Thanks Margaret!

  • I stayed with Margaret before my exam in the local hospital and it was great. She gave me a local running route to stretch my legs and had fresh juices for me in the morning before my exam. I felt so relaxed and I had a great nights sleep. Thanks Margaret!

  • We had a lovely time here, the hosts are very helpful and the accommodation is much bigger than we expected. Cosy and well equipped with great views across the countryside. Our little 2 year old boy loved staying here too, with everything provided for him and exciting windows to stare out of to watch the birds. We'd definitely stay here again, it's ace.

  • The accommodation is in a great location - close to Morpeth but far enough away to feel like you have escaped to the countryside. The house is spacious and warm and the check in was smooth with the hosts meeting us on arrival. The family was friendly and welcoming and we had a really nice few days exploring the area.

  • The cottage was very cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was plenty of space for a family of 4 in terms of bedrooms, living room, bathrooms, cooking and dining and parking. The view from the living room is so serene and the location of the cottage is idyllic. Zoe-Jayne and her family have provided all the amenities necessary for a luxury self-catering break along with some extra touches that help you settle (and have a cuppa!) straight away. The family live next door and are very kind and friendly but never intrusive - our privacy was entirely respected. We loved the cottage, the farm and the surrounding areas. This is a fabulous place from which to explore Northumberland and the Tyne Valley.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Northumberland seeing Cragside, Alnwick Castle, The Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne and Hadrian's Wall. The house was clean and had all the amenities we needed for the week, along with some wine, bread, butter & milk on arrival, thank you! We loved your dogs too, so friendly. Thanks for all the advice on what to see/where to go. We would definitely like to come back and visit again.
