Places to stay in Moulsford
Our Shepherds Hut nestles into it's own space just next to the house, it has an ensuite shower etc, double bed and gorgeous west facing country views. Only a five minute walk from the centre of the village it is a haven of peace and tranquility. Please note we have a 2 night minimum stay for single occupancy.
The Shepherds hut is equipped with everything you need to make your stay great, There is a fully stocked hospitality tray with a range of teas, coffees and fresh milk and home made biscuits. The shower has been praised as "the best this holiday" In the morning come over to the conservatory to enjoy a delicious breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, fresh fruit and yogurt. To follow, a choice of the full English breakfast, including our own hen's eggs cooked however you like them and toasted home made bread. The hut is really well insulated with sheep's wool keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter, however you are welcome to fire up the wood burning stove if you wanted it a bit warmer. There is no TV but free fast WiFi in the Shepherds hut and the conservatory.
Brightwell cum Sotwell is probably one of the most attractive villages in the area, the main road by passes the village so there is not a lot of traffic, it is a lovely place to wander around on a pleasant evening as there is such a range of lovely houses and gardens to admire. The traditional, thatched village pub is a great place to stop off, the food and beer are both great. The villagers are very friendly and there is a lot going on. Most weekends there is some event be it a village quiz, talent show, summer fete, and we have a live music festival once a year, Many of our guests have enjoyed one of these events and have loved feeling like a 'local'.
  • Su h a lovely stay in the Shepherd's Hut. Sue and Bob were lovely and put on a fab breakfast. A spot of serenity away from the hubbub

  • Bob and Sue were SUCH lovely hosts. We can’t say enough about the beautiful gardens, amazing breakfast, and cute hut. Would highly recommend!

    Laura2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • This “hut” is far better appointed than most shepherds would ever dream of. Space is necessarily limited, but we found it very comfortable, especially in conjunction with the open walled sitting “room” just behind. It is an extremely tranquil location, and the hut is well removed from the owners’ house. It is set within a beautiful wild flower garden, looking directly over a field fringed with woodland. The owners are very hospitable, striking just the right balance between being friendly and leaving guests to their own devices. The homemade breakfasts are exceptional. The shower and the electric heater (we didn’t try the wood burning stove in May) are both good; the bed is very comfortable and there is good quality linen. Be aware that the curtains are rather thin, though the owners helpfully provide eye masks.

  • Sue was awesome! Id recommend her place and this village to anyone. Great breakfast. Amazing location. Her garden is gorgeous.

    Marisa2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • The hut and views far exceeded our expectations. The hut is a serene and beautifully compact space - and the log burner in action was amazing. (I'd recommend you don't put too much wood in.) The hospitality was fantastic - Sue and Bob were incredibly welcoming while allowing us to completely enjoy this little slice of heaven as if it were own. My daughter, (aged 6) was blown away by the wildlife - none more so than the live footage of the blue tit chicks being fed by their busy parents.

  • We had an idyllic weekend relaxing in the Shepherds hut. As soon as we arrived we fell in love with the beautiful surroundings and cosy Shepherds hut, which was equipped with everything that we needed. Breakfast was delicious, especially whilst watching the deer skip through the fields opposite. A completly faultless accommodation. Thank you for having us Sue.

    Tom2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Totally faultless experience. Best Airbnb we’ve ever experienced. Such a relaxing way to spend a few days in a unique setting. The breakfast each morning is such a fantastic touch. And sitting outside each evening admiring the view was spectacular. Definitely recommend. Thanks so much for having us

    Vanessa2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepard’s hut is quaint but modern. Dreamy but practical (fantastic shower!) Extremely warm (I visited in March) and it is the extra special touches that Endear you to this property. I was a solo traveller and felt extremely safe. Sit in bed and watch nature at its best! There is also a log burner that I didn’t need to use. I’m sure this is wonderful when up and running! I will definitely visit again.....

  • This little gem is absolutely somewhere you will want to return too. A lovely spot on the Thames. For us it was one night snuggled down in front of the log burner. A time to reconnect and remember those things that are important in a life. Esther and Tobie are great hosts... I cannot recommend them highly enough 💕

  • Lovely, welcoming, well thought out, private little getaway. A sweet place to just get away from normal day to day life. Esther communicated everything very clearly before we checked in and they provided all the "little things" you would need like tea, oil, loo roll, towels, cooking equipment. A perfect little haven for a couple.

A light and sunny open-plan lodge, with private deck and lovely views over open fields. Awarded Gold standard from Green Tourism UK. Fully equipped kitchen, TV, wifi, double bed, open-out sofa bed, dining table, shower room and utility room with washing machine.
A 45m2 open plan lodge built using hemp, engineered timber, with green walls, green roof and fitted with triple glazed windows and doors, LED lighting & far infrared heating. The lodge is a separate building within our property with the best views out to open fields. It has an open plan design allowing guests to have a continuous view of the countryside. It has a fully equipped kitchen, double bed and open-out sofa bed, dining table, satellite TV, including Sky movies and sports, and wifi. Outside there's a large decked area for relaxing in the sunshine or cooking on the BBQ. There's a small utility room with a washing machine and ample space to hang coats. The space is very private and guests have their own deck to admire the view and relax and watch the sunsets over sundowners. There's plenty of parking and places to store bikes, or we have bikes available to rent at a nominal charge on request (please let us know if advance) if you aren't able to bring your own. We provide coffee, tea, milk, and sugar and, when we can find them, some eggs from our free-ranging chickens when they are laying. We can arrange for local produce and wine during your stay at an additional cost. The lodge is also equipped with a nesting box with integrated camera so you can secretly watch the nesting and brooding habits of the resident blue tits in the Spring. We have a travel cot available on request at no extra charge. We are only 3 miles from the nearest railway station at Cholsey so can arrange transport from the station on request if you would like a car-free break. We are on a number of on and off-road cycle routes so we are an ideal location if you are either just passing through or wanting to stick around a bit to fully explore the area. If cycling and walking is not your thing, then there are plenty of sites to see within a very short drive by car. The remains of Wallingford Castle which was the first Norman castle to be commissioned by William the Conqueror is only 2 miles away. The historic village of Ewelme with the oldest continually functioning Church school (founded 1437) in England is also 2 miles away. Henley is 15 minutes by car but there's also a regular bus between Henley and Wallingford. We have a range of local maps in the lodge showing all the walking and biking paths in the area, from short walks to full day hikes and trails. We are situated less than a mile from the Ridgeway National Trail which is a 85 mile mostly off road trail across the Chiltern Hills and Berkshire Downs. There is a dense network of bridle ways and footpaths linking historic towns and villages for you to explore. The lodge is close to both Wallingford and Henley with many gastro pubs in between. The area is steeped in history with Bronze Age hill forts, villages with Roman ancestry, Saxon earthworks and Norman castles and churches. There are farmers markets, regattas, music and art festivals, car and steam rallies all happening throughout spring, summer and autumn within a 10 mile radius. Henley Royal Regatta is perhaps the most famous followed by Henley Festival but the likes of the Wallingford Blues and Beer festival presents some interesting niche activities to entertain you. A list of events going on in the area: Wallingford Regatta 6th May 2018 Wallingford Car Rally 13th May 2018 Wallingford Food Festival May 2018 Wallingford Rugfest Music festival June 2018 Henley Royal Regatta 4th - 8th July 2018 Henley Festival July 2018 Rewind Festival Henley August 2018 Wallingford Bunkfest September 2018

  • Lovely romantic cosy lodge. Sarah & Tim great hosts. Nothing too much trouble

    Melanie2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Tim's place. It had everything we needed and was a lovely rural setting with a pretty outlook over fields. Our hosts we're very welcoming and we would definitely recommend this place.

  • Lovely cosy well-equipped space. Plenty of maps and walk suggestions as well as games and jigsaws for rainy days. Easy to do as a car-free break. Very homey space with everything we could want - thanks for the chocolate and marmalade!

    Claire2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend at the Eco Lodge and Tim was very helpful in every way, even sorting my flat battery when we were leaving. It was a very clean and a welcoming Lodge with all the amenities you would like. The bonus of Sky TV to just make it even better for the weekend football. Tim has some very interesting stories to tell and we were very impressed with the Eco Lodge and how it was constructed. Very warm and cosy... Thanks again Tim, great weekend. we will be back in the Summer for sure.

  • The annex is a really great place to stay. Quiet, peaceful location. Lots of room, everything you'd want, lashings of hot water and a really comfy (squeak-free!) bed. This wasn't my first stay, and it won't be my last!

  • Perfect for my husbands stay as he was working locally. An incredibly warm welcome, brilliant communication, fabulous space and with breakfast items provided. Would not hesitate to recommend Victoria's place.

    Catherine2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The space is immaculate, and charming. The room is in a separate cottage which gives you privacy but also proximity to Victoria should you need anything. The space offers complimentary breakfast and the bed is incredibly comfortable. The location is great - near the Bear at Home pub, and less than 10min drive from Didcot Parkway train station. Victoria communicated well prior to and throughout our stay and was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this place, and will hopefully return in future.

This is a 1960's bungalow set at the end of a very quiet cul de sac. It is set in old walled garden and is next to the local park and footpaths. It is walking distance from the River Thames. There is a lovely local riverside restaurant (The Beetle and Wedge). Access to the bedroom and bathroom has its own entrance with access to the kitchen if necessary. There is a summer house in the garden for relaxing. If you have allergies, there is a well behaved collie living in the main house.
Close to Wallingford in the Thames Valley and walks on the Ridgeway.
  • Twinks was very accommodating and helpful. I was working locally and this was the ideal place and having the use of the kitchen really helped, both for cooking and evening reports for work. A great host and a lovely location.

  • Beutiful house and garden in very pleasant small town. Bit of a walk to two food choices. Pretty much need a car to access this location unless walking the Thames Path.

A beautiful, cosy, dog-friendly house on a peaceful close in a stunning riverside village. This is the perfect place to retreat to, nestled between the natural beauty of the Chilterns one side and the North Wessex Downs the other side. Goring on Thames is a lively little village with stunning walks, amazing pubs & plenty of live music & arts events throughout the year. Don’t hesitate to contact me.
The medium-sized private room is perfect for one or two people. You are welcome to bring your well-behaved dog (although please discuss on booking) and dog sitting is possible through prearrangement at extra cost. We have a cockapoo who loves everyone and every thing. You’ll be sharing the house with me and my husband but we’ll do our best to be discreet. Breakfast will be basic (tea/coffee, toast, spreads and limited cereal selection) and self-serve but I’ll be on hand for anything. Tea making facilities are not available in the bedroom but you are welcome to use the kitchen for making tea. Check-in is after 5pm and check-out is before 9am, however, if you have a particular request we will do our best to accommodate you. Please ask when you contact me.
Goring on Thames is one of the prettiest villages on the Thames. It is set nestled in stunning countryside and there are beautiful walks/cycle rides straight from the door step, taking you along the river, through nature reserves, over hills or into woods. The oldest road in Britain, the ridgeway trail, passes straight through the village (end of our road!) and this takes you over hills and through valleys and woods. Although Goring has enough to offer so you may not even feel the need to get in your car there is also so much other stuff within easy reach. The City of Dreaming Spires, Oxford, is only 40 mins away (car or train (direct line, station walking distance)). It’s also only 25 minute drive to Harwell Oxford, Chilton, so if you’re looking for a mid-week retreat after a hard working day this will be perfect!
  • Very convenient for Goring facilities. Friendly owners.

The accommodation has its own entrance, private sitting room - with inglenook fireplace (only use electric fire provided) - and steep, winding stairs leading to the large bedroom with vaulted ceiling and superking bed. Guests will have sole use of the adjoining bathroom. Period features also include low beams, but rule out a shower.
Although there is no kitchen, there is a small fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster in the sitting room. Orange juice, cereals, yogurts, bread, butter and jam / marmalade are provided for self service breakfasts. There is a small TV in the sitting room. The superking bed can be divided into 2 singles, if requested in advance.
Walnut Tree Cottage is only a short walk from the Crown Public House. There are various other good Pubs, also serving food, in nearby villages. There is a Tesco Store some 2 miles away at Didcot. You can enjoy numerous country walks with beautiful views over the Chiltern Hills and Berkshire Downs, while the lovely historic market town of Wallingford, with Castle Ruins and River Thames flowing past, is only 3.5 miles away.
  • Really nice! We were only 1 night, but all was excellent! Thanks very much

  • Beautiful part of a country cottage, quiet location, warm and cosy, good sized bedroom with lofty ceiling, softish mattress, bath and plenty of hot water ( no shower but that suited us), downstairs good lounge with small dining chair and tables for breakfast ( supplies included with fridge and microwave ) not a proper kitchen but hosts happy to wash up for us. A few low doorways as expected in a property this age. Lounge has electric fire effect heater in inglenook which was lovely after a walk in the surrounding countryside. Local pub excellent and less than 5 minutes walk. All clean and tidy and very friendly hosts.

  • This was our 3rd visit to this lovely annexe. Great hosts, warm, comfortable accommodation with a super bedroom and great village location. Thank you James and Gilly

  • Walnut Tree Cottage is a lovely period cottage in a small village within easy reach of local towns and walks. It is very warm and cosy with a comfortable sitting area downstairs and a large bedroom and bathroom up some very tight winding stairs. It is really a charming and characterful place to stay. James and Gilly are perfect hosts providing plenty of information if required. There is a fridge, toaster and microwave and plenty of breakfast goods are provided and restocked if needed. Thank you for everything - we will definitely return when in the area.

    Celia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Booked for my sister and her partner to stay in as a Christmas present. They were made to feel so welcome and absolutely loved how cosy the cottage was!

  • Really lovely, super comfy bed and The Fat Frog is a great spot for dinner.

  • Gilly and James were very nice and helpful. The accommodation was of a high standard and was perfect for us due to family in the village. We particularly appreciated the massive bed and the cereal selection! Would not hesitate to book again if we wanted to be in the area.

A unique opportunity to stay in Brunel's Station Master's House, dating from 1840. Located within easy access of the village centre and a stones throw away from Goring station. The spectacular scenery is the setting for such classic books as Wind in the Willows, Watership Down and Three Men in a Boat. Views of Goring Lock, the weirs and the rural landscape, are some of the most photographed and painted scenes in England. Goring has a good selection of local shops, restaurants and pubs!
A hardwood door leads into an entrance lobby with staircase and doors into the reception rooms, including a front aspect sitting room, with an open fire, and an additional front aspect snug with a wood burner. The snug leads through to the kitchen/diner, fitted with a seven burner gas range, Belfast sink, and an understairs storage cupboard. The dining area has a decorative fireplace with cast iron surround, and a door to the rear. To complete the accommodation there is a conservatory accessed from the kitchen. A staircase leads to the first floor landing, with exposed floorboards throughout. There is a family bathroom fitted with a bath with shower over, and an additional separate cloakroom.

Nestled away in my garden in the pretty village of Goring-on-thames is my cosy caravan. My garden is very peaceful and very private. . Its a quiet village with a train station and a few shops. The caravan is in a private garden it has a double bed, fridge, heating, complimentry tea and coffee and kettle and seating area. We do have a small dog and cats so animal lovers only please. The bathroom is shared and is a very short walk from the caravan.
ideally a stay would be on a b and b basis with check in on a weekday after 5pm and at weekends other times may be arranged. Contractors working in or around the village may find this ideal as it's such good value. Breakfast is a choice of cereals, toast, eggs, yogurt or porridge, on a help yourself basis, with fresh fruit always available ( included in price) .Access to the bathroom is restricted during weekdays due to our dog so guests would idealy shower or bath at the latest 9am, although guests would be welcome to stay in the caravan all morning. In special circumstances arrangements can be made to use the bathroom later than 9,best to ask on booking. Guests may use the kitchen but i like to keep my living room private. There is a parking space and bikes can be left in the garden and covered over if necessary. Goring does have a bus service for the local area and the train station is a ten minute walk. If you need help with getting around I would help if I can . This is a quiet space and we dont allow loud music, please bear in mind this is a caravan in a pretty secluded garden an upmarket camping experience in a way!
Goring is a very pretty village in the heart of South Oxfordshire by the river Thames. There is lots of scenic walks and it's popular with ramblers and cyclists. It has a few shops and a choice of restaurants to suit all. It is also popular with George Michael fans as he used to live in the village.
  • Great Value, lovely little space. Note toilet is in the house so you have to venture to Kathleen's for the bathroom but that was never a problem. V Hospitable, even couple of cans of cider in the fridge and breakfast fruit, yogurt and cereal provided for the money.

  • My friend and I had a lovely stay in Anita’s annex. She was very helpful and responsive. The bed was comfortable, apartment was warm and location was great and we had a lovely walk in the surrounding downs. Thank you for a great stay!

I would thoroughly recommend Anita’s place.

  • As soon as I got to Lise's Airbnb I knew I had struck gold! A truly great place to stay, which was particularly important as I was there for a month! Everything I needed was there, with a lovely clean bathroom, comfy bed, a very quiet rustic location and plenty of space. Communications were perfect and as I am somewhat of a recluse, I also appreciated the privacy! Though they were always on hand if I needed anything. I would definitely stay here again and can thoroughly recommend it. Thanks Lise!

    Gareth2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Lise and Rupert are great, really accommodating. The reviews about the door banging are correct, it can be quite jarring. Unfortunately, the washing machine was broken while I was there, which resulted in a few pieces of clothing being ruined. Rupert was really nice about it, and allowed me to use the machine in the main house, but it didn't get fixed while I was there (for 2 weeks) which was a bit annoying. Otherwise, lovely place, highly recommend it.

It is a well furnished room with all the standards plus underfloor heating. • Chris and Mark are fantastic hosts, very warm and welcoming. We had a lovely stay at there place. The surroundings are very idyllic and picturesque. The fully equipped kitchen comes very handy for us. They have made sure to build the studio very eco-friendly. The floor heating is amazing and the first of its kind to be experienced by us. Even a short time of heating keeps the room very warm. The sound of birds and the natural stream in the backyard keeps you positive and motivated. We enjoyed the fieldside view when it gets sunny in the afternoon. It's a great location with supermarkets a few minutes drive away. I wish to visit there place again. Thank you for hosting us.

There is no microwave (but oven and hot plates so plenty of cooking options) but just worth being aware of if your cooking skills are as limited as mine!! Overall fabulous stay, would definitely return if in the area again.

Hi welcome to my bright, fun little house that’s also my home. I’m often away with work so will frequently welcome my guests with a key and my trusty black and white (furry) best friend - the cat! The house has a homely feel and is based on all my travels and adventures. Make yourself at home. I co host so one of us will also be available to answer a question even if we are away.
Hi 1.2 miles from train station Close to Tesco’s express and takeaway round the corner. House backs onto a close that leads to large expanse of fields and recreational playing fields. Located in a quiet, safe yet central part of Didcot.
  • Zoe's keeps is a beautiful home, that i will most deffinately be returning to when work finds me in the vacinity again! Upon arrival we were met by the head of the household... Jack the cat! A gorgeous, friendly little fella :) We really couldn't have hope for a nicer place to stay. Thanks for having us!

A bright, fun little house that’s also my home. I’m often away with work so will frequently welcome my guests with a key and my trusty black and white (furry) best friend - the cat! The house has a homely feel and is based on all my travels and adventures. Make yourself at home. I co host so one of us will also be available to answer a question even if we are away.
Main bedroom with king size bed. (Note wardrobes in room are not accessible but there’s a chest of drawers available and a coat hanger space behind back of the door. Single room with single bed. Kitchen with all amenities. plates, glasses, cups, cutlery, saucepans, frying pans the whole deal is available! You’ll even likely to find some cooking oil and spices. Dish washer, washing machine, tumble dryer. You’re welcome to use the washing machine but I don’t provide tablets etc so if necessary please bring your own. Garden with bbq available. Bathroom downstairs with single shower, toilet and sink. Bathroom is to be updated in summer 19. It’s of course clean and fresh but just a little outdated. Wc upstairs. Lounge & dining room. Large open space Big 50 inch tv with sky tv (sky sports included) free use of Netflix, and WiFi all available. There are two aquariums in my home which contain tropical fish. I will ask that when you book the house out or indeed a room ( if I’m not also staying) that you agree to feed my fish just a pinch of their food. It will be left for you on top of their tanks. My cat will also need feeding, instructions will be left in the property. He’s very friendly and affectionate and enjoys the company when I’m away. If this is a problem then i will be unable to confirm the booking because someone will need to access the property to feed my fish. The fish are all very pleasant to look at though so hopefully you’ll just see it as an added pleasure and they’ll be very grateful for their meals!! Both aquariums have filters and pumps attached which run the systems that keep my fish alive. These must never be turned off. All electrical equipment around the tanks must be left as you find it throughout your stay. Please leave my house as you find it. Clean and tidy with all dishes stacked in the dish washer. Please ensure all windows and doors are shut and locked before you leave. Please do not invite additional guests back to my property without my consent. If you use the bbq please clean after use. Many Thanks.

The studio is situated on a quiet private road overlooking an area of outstanding natural beauty, within easy walking distance to the riverside village of Goring-on-Thames. The self contained studio is a two story accommodation which is bright, airy and beautifully furnished with a private entrance. Breakfast basket and fresh ground coffee will be included
The open plan space offers a King sized double bed, sitting area with a large comfortable sofa, a flat screen TV, as well as dining table and chairs. The kitchen area has a microwave, fridge, kettle but no oven or hob.. The studio has free access to the WiFi. There is private off road parking.

It is close to both the Ridgeway and the Thames Path and attracts visitors during the summer months as a result. You can use us as a base to access a wide stretch of The Thames Path or The Ridgeway. On the other hand there are numerous walks in and around the villages of Goring and Streatley of differing lengths providing a great opportunity to get away from the hurly-burly.

  • A lovely studio apartment, stylish and comfortable, with lovely finishes and plenty of space, and amazing, rural views of the countryside. Hosts Sarah and Ian were very pleasant and helpful with a few issues I encountered during my stay, as an example had a flat battery on my car, and they were able to assist with addressing this so I was not left stranded. Would recommend this apartment, lovely bathroom downstairs, and peaceful, stress-free place to stay. Sad to leave in some ways after a prolonged stay whilst looking for a longer-term place to live in the local area.

    Sue2020-01-18T00:00:00Z

Recently redecorated single room; perfect if you need somewhere to stay in Didcot or near Milton Park, Harwell or Culham. Just a couple of minutes walk from the shops & restaurants of Didcot, or a quick 10 minute walk from the railway station with frequent trains to Oxford & London. There is a regular bus service to Harwell, Culham & Milton Park only 5 minutes walk away. Please be aware we have 2 cats and a 6 & 3 year old, and whilst not overly loud, they are happy boys who enjoy to play!
You'll be staying in our recently re-decorated spare room with a comfortable single bed. The room has it's own TV with access to Sky TV including the 'Movie' channels, and we offer complimentary ultrafast WiFi. There is a small desk & chair suitable for a laptop, and we provide tea & coffee making facilities in the kitchen which you are more than welcome to use. The bathroom with a sunken bath & shower is shared with us, however you will always have access to use it at any time. Towels will be provided. In the spirit of being honest, there are a few areas of the house that need a little tidying up; for example, some of the windows (including your room) have condensation inbetween the double glazing. The windows still work fine, they just don't look very pretty. We're in the process of replacing them; we just wanted to make you aware in advance!
Didcot is a commuter town with fantastic rail and road connections to Oxfordshire. Whilst the town itself probably isn't your primary reason for visiting, it does serve a great starting point to explorer the beautiful countryside that Oxfordshire has to offer. Should you require additional provisions whilst you stay there is a nearby Sainsburys & Aldi superstore. Both are less than 10 minutes walk away. The beautiful collages of Oxford are a 20 minute train journey away, or if you fancy venturing a little further away then Blenheim Palace is a 35 minute drive. London is accessible by train in about 40 minutes.
  • Ben & Mel were very welcoming hosts & Mel even kindly came & picked me up from the station after my very long train journey down from Scotland. Their beautiful home is close the town so is ideally located. My room was clean & comfortable and the bathroom equally so. Overall, a lovely stay.

    Julie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for everything! Ben and Mel are so kind and helpful. I enjoyed talking with them. Clean room, kitchen, bathroom, amenities are well-equipped and sooo cute sons and cats.... Everything is perfect. The room has enough space to sleep with TV and desk. In addition, the location is near Supermarket and Didcot parkway station. I recommend their house to my friends who have a plan to go to Oxford!

    Naoki2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • I was made extremely welcome. Ben and Mel are such lovely people and their little boy adorable. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was private and comfortable.

  • It was a true delight to stay with Ben and Mel who were very helpful and forthcoming, and generously shared their place and facilities with me. The room was very great and spotless, and included fast internet and a coffee maker. Nice breakfast. Short stroll to the railway station through pleasant neighbourhood. Coudn't have had a better stay!

  • A peaceful, great night's sleep in a beautiful room. Every accommodation was made and the hosts could not have been more friendly or helpful. We felt welcome in their home and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We wish our house was as clean and tidy as theirs but it was homely and welcoming in addition. The breakfast was lovely and the hosts stayed and talked to us because we said we'd like them to when they politely asked the question. Their son is a delight and we hope to one day see them all again. We highly recommend this B & B.

  • Excellent stay, Ben and Mel were very accommodating and made my brief visit to Didcot very easy. Would definitely recommend.

  • The best thing I did during England journey is to stay at Ben & Melanie's sweet home. They gladly treated me a good dinner although they have been so busy. During the dinner time we shared many things by talking each other. (Thanks to them, England's daily life & culture have been known) Also, their home is so clean and well decorated. So during the stay, I felt comfortable. Especially, didcotway parkway station closed to their home is quite easy to move around Oxford, Cotswolds and Bath spa. However , above all, my favorite things is to see their baby. (He is so cute and friendly). I hope their baby grows up with always positive mind. Although it is very short time to know each other, it was a valulable experience to me. With always good luck, hope to live happily. See u

  • Great welcome, nice large room with desk, good nights sleep, great breakfast, everything very clean and well organised, excellent location and good value. Ben and Mel are great hosts - always there to help, but not intrusive when we were busy. We will be back.....

A rural fully-equipped self-catering lodge built upon recycled tyre foundations and powered by the wind and sun at the rear of a rural business centre. The lodge is set in a rural location a few miles from the historic town of Wallingford. It has its own fenced garden with South-facing sun deck and views over open fields.
The lounge/dining room, bedroom and kitchen look over open fields to the south, with double French doors leading onto a sunny full-length deck. We have chickens, geese and sheep in the next door fields. The lodge has been designed to absorb any winter sunshine but is shaded throughout the summer months thereby offering a comfortable internal climate throughout the year. There is a small wood burner so the lodge is warm and toasty on those cold winter evenings, as well as energy-efficient infra-red heater panels in the bedroom and bathroom. The lodge has a large open-plan dining/lounge area, with a separate small well-equipped kitchen and a shower room leading off from the entrance hallway. The spacious bedroom with a large double as well as a single bed has double French doors leading onto the front decking. The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, gas oven, microwave, toaster, bodum-style coffee pot & frother and a good selection of kitchenware and utensils. A wooden deck with patio furniture runs along the whole of the South-facing side of the building, looking over the garden and fields beyond.
This area is great for walking, cycling and visiting historic sites. The "Ridgeway" which is an 87 mile national trail, is about 3/4 mile away.

An entirely self contained private home recently converted from a Georgian stable and cottage. The property is adjacent to the owners property but is entirely separate with it’s own secure parking and entrance. Located in a small village, with two pubs and charming village shop on doorstep. Market town of Wallingford (setting for “Midsomer Murders”) is a short walk with many amenities including the River Thames outdoor pool (summer months), many restaurants and shops including a new Waitrose.
The entire property is dedicated to guests and includes three bedrooms, a hall, utility room, and large kitchen, dining and relaxing area. You also have your own off street secure private parking area for one vehicle (including security lights and camera).
Great location to explore historic market town of Wallingford with its beautiful river walks along the Thames Path and castle gardens, setting of many “Midsomer Murders” and the home of Agatha Christie. 10 miles from Henley on Thames with its boat rides along one of the most scenic stretches of the river, and of course it’s regatta and festivals during the summer months. We are 13 miles from the dreaming spires of Oxford steeped in history, and with a state of the art fantastic new shopping, bar and restaurant complex. There are always lovely walks in the Chiltern Hills or along the Ridgeway, or for those with a passion for history or shopping, Blenheim Palace and Bicester Village are both very convenient, around 40 mins by car. There are many National Trust properties within easy reach, Nuffield Place, Greys Court, Basildon Park, and Hughenden, and for those with young children Beale Park is always a great favourite. Excellent dining out options on the doorstep, there is a “hungry horse” restaurant/pub just up the street, and a historic 14th century pub over the road serving traditional ales and good selection of seasonal and traditional British fare utilising local produce. Wallingford has restaurants for almost every budget and taste and of course many cafes/take-away options. The village park (5min walk) has a “state of art” children’s playground including zip wire, and a wide selection of outdoor gym equipment for those keen on a workout. There is also a bookable tennis court, and a further short walk will take you to the outdoor heated swimming pool (summer months), and jubilee splash park both set on the banks of the River Thames.
  • Do not hesitate to book your stay here. It is just the most stunning space. So calming and conveniently located. We really enjoyed our time here and can’t wait til our next stay! The master bed was soooo comfortable. We didn’t want to check out on the last morning, the sleep was amazing!

Double room available very close to the River Thames and a few minutes walk from the centre of Wallingford. It is just a short drive to Cholsey Station and trains to Paddington. Buses to Oxford and Reading stop at the end of the road. There is parking on the road outside. I have 2 bathrooms, so you will have almost exclusive use of the bathroom next door to your room. There is a small shared kitchen you can use to make snacks, tea, coffee etc. if you wish to provide these for yourself.
You can request access to beautiful communal gardens, which lead down to the Thames Path and the banks of the River Thames. There is also a public footpath very close by, which leads directly to the Thames.
Wallingford is a beautiful, historic old market town, with lots to explore and places to eat out. The old Corn Exchange shows regular cinema screenings. There are beautiful countryside and river walks you can access directly from the house as well as cycleways to explore. There is a tourist information office in the market place.
  • Great hosts, great room, great experience! I will return!

Warm, cosy and private. Didcot is based in South Oxfordshire and my home is 10 minutes from the train station which offers direct routes into London and Oxford amongst many others. A green and rural area that offers good local restaurants with a mile or so walk and also the perfect place to start your walking holiday. Didcot has a cinema, theatre, large shopping complex, swimming baths and plenty of activities for all the family.
Private room with personal use of WC. Shared shower room and shared living room, lounge area, kitchen and garden. bbq facilities outside. Off road parking available for 2 cars. Washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer. You’re welcome to use the washing machine but I don’t provide tablets etc so if necessary please bring your own. WiFi and sky tv
