Places to stay in Moville
In a quiet, gated development on the coast. Private access to the local bay with shallow beaches, ideal for young children. The stunningly situated local golf course is 1/2 mile away. The fishing port of Greencastle is 1 mile down the quiet country road. Escape to a unique residence for a comfortable relaxing break.
Lovingly decorated in a unique style with vibrant colours, luscious fabrics, found and upcycled materials, this cottage is relaxing and comforting yet fresh and stimulating. The kitchen has everything you need for self catering (there's also a welcome pack to start your break!) and there's an abundance of books and creative stuff to keep you busy. When it gets chilly, you can get cosy with a peat fire.
Seabreeze is literally a stones throw away from the beach and the Atlantic ocean. The sandy bay is shallow and great for kids swimming, whilst there are rockpools a plenty to go exploring. The links of Greencastle Golf Club and it's excellent facilities are a few hundred metres along the coast and the picturesque fishing port of Greencastle is a couple of kms down the road. There are beautiful walks in the area and from the headland, on a clear day Scotland can be seen. The cottage is stated in a rural area. Please don't expect supermarkets, nightclubs, take-aways etc. Expect peace, tranquility, fresh sea air and bring an umbrella. (this is Ireland after all!)
  • Beautiful quarky like house by the sea.

  • This Shepard's Hut was absolutely adorable! Eileen pays very close attention to details and you can tell! It's perfect!! It's a bit out of the way if you are doing some of the bigger tourist activities, but we enjoyed seeing a lot of the Irish countryside on our drive there. Would stay here again if we come back to Ireland again someday! :)

  • Bernard and Rosaleen met us at the apartment when we arrived and made sure everything was in order for us, providing some tips on places to go. The apartment a few minutes walking distance from some nice restaurants and bars and also places like the convenience store and chemist. There was a double bed on the main floor with the kitchen, shower and another double bed in the downstairs basement area. Rosaleen kindly answered a call I had regarding where to put the keys upon checkout, as I had forgotten what she had said about this, originally. Apartment is in a great location beside the seaside and is well kept by good hosts, in Bernard and Rosaleen.

    Ross2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is right in the middle of downtown Moville with a side view of Lough Foyle (the sea). The apartment is quite large and spacious. It is on two levels with a bedroom with two beds, a kitchen and a bathroom downstairs and a living room/bedroom upstairs. Bernard and Roseleen were exceptional hosts. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was pleasant and enjoyable. As I came by bus, Bernard even loaned me a bike so that I could explore more of the area. I hope to come back to the area next year and will definitely stay here if it is available.

    Trey Bien2019-06-05T00:00:00Z

  • Very friendly and helpful hosts. Great room. Very clean. Nice decor. Breakfast absolutely brill. Lovely people.

  • A beautiful location and very comfortable place to stay. Seinead was a great host and made us feel at home. Breakfast was wonderful and set us up for the day.

  • Where to start ? What a fantastic find the Inishowen Lodge is. 5 Stars from start to finish ! Speedy replies when booking. Darren was there to great us and gave us a great welcome, offering tea as soon as we came through the door ! Great big living room just for guests was well stocked with books, games and a selection of musical instruments including a piano . Large open fire set and ready to light in the cooler evenings. Views from the property are spectacular and you can see Magilligan and Benone beach on the far side of the water. Our room was really big and included a double bed and a single as well as a large wardrobe, dressing table and chairs for relaxing. Dual aspect windows and a velux meant the room was bright and airy. A small tv had loads of channels, not just a few local giving you plenty to choose from. A well stocked tea tray and kettle are provided, with access in the hall to a fridge containing fresh milk and bottled water. The en-suite was roomy and had a good shower. Some nice touches included shampoo, shower gel and hand soap with fresh flowers on the beside unit. A Book with breakfast order form and local amenities was beside the bed. Just tick what you want and leave it down before bed. Wi-fi was free and the signal was grand. Breakfast had a good choice and we would recommend the French toast, bacon and maple syrup, although the fry was also delicious. Fresh fruit, yogurt and a selection of cereals are also available. Along with juice, water and of course tea and coffee. Homemade wheaten was also a nice touch. Our host Darren, was great. He cooked the breakfast and was always on hand. His knowledge of the local area is second to none and nothing was too much trouble for him. You can come and go as you please and it really is a home from home. The place was spotlessly clean and overall we couldn’t fault it. We hope to return over the summer and have already been recommending the lodge to friends and family. Keep it up folks !

  • We have recently returned from a short weekend break exploring the stunning Inishowen peninsula and stayed 2 nights at Inishowen Lodge. Darren and Seinead are superb hosts. They run a beautiful house in a stunning setting and were so kind and helpful during our stay. Our spacious bedroom and en-suite bathroom room were spotless. The bedroom had a lovely refreshments tray but we were also given tea/ coffee in the guest living room on arrival. Breakfast completely spoiled us - absolutely delicious and set us up for the day of travel armed with lots of information from Darren & Seinead. We had an early 5am departure on day 2. But what makes this couple amazing hosts is that they had programmed the heat to go on for our very early rise and had left a lovely surprise parcel at the front door for us.... a picnic breakfast! We fell in love with Inishowen and will come to stay with Darren and Seinead in a heartbeat.

    Deirdre2019-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • The most hospitable hosts we have ever come across. They helped get us to our venue on time, and the room was lovely with the most amazing view. The breakfast was delicious and we could not recommend this place any higher!!! Fantastic stay!

  • We had a wonderful week in the house. Liam is a caring and lovable host. The house is modern and comfortably furnished and equipped. And - in the Irish autumn not unimportant - it can be super heat and cuddly warm.

    Simone2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Liam was one of the best hosts on our trip. Homemade bread for the reception and for every planned tour exact details and recommendations. The best routes and least expensive at the same time thanks to him. I can only say thanks again !! I'll definitely come back. :)

  • The place was absolutely wonderful! I cannot believe how much we loved it for what we paid- it certainly was much nicer than most hostels. We had our own room and bathroom, and everything was decorated in a way to make you feel at home instead of like being at a hotel. It was very clean and the shower was spacious with good water pressure. Listening to the creek when we went to bed was a dream and it was great to have breakfast laid out for us in the morning when we were trying to get back on the road so early. I very short walk to town with many good restaurants and bars. If we had more time I would have absolutely hung out in the little library, they had a great selection and it was very cozy. Definitely stay here if you’re close to the area! (Forewarning, don’t try to follow google maps to Moville; it took us up north to what we were told was a bridge, but was actually a ferry that was not in service. If it’s winter, you must drive through Derry)

  • Well this was a little oasis on the coast of Donegal. It was actually a true taste of Irish hospitality. After a very long spin up, the hosts had a welcome package of fresh homemade brown bread, and everything there for tea and coffee. The view, I can literally say, took my breath away, and a patio to sit out and enjoy it. It was worth the trip for that alone !!! Every amenity we needed in the house, spotless, warm, stove there and the fuel to light it.... everything was thought of to make our stay as comfortable as possible. There was nothing we could fault. Fantastic wifi which was wonderful with two teenagers too. Pub within a 2 minute walk.... ample parking ... we can not wait to get back.

  • One of the best I have stayed in! The location was wonderful, as was the view. Such a beautiful apartment with so much space. Everything was set up nicely for our stay - firewood, tea, etc. Check in and check out was one of the smoothest we’ve experienced. Kay was absolutely lovely and greeted us with the warmest hug :) can’t wait to visit again...next time in the summer!

    Megan2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible place to stay. The view makes you feel you are on a ship it is that breathtaking. The photos actually do not do it justice, you just have to witness with your own eyes. Myself, my wife and son visited over the Christmas period and couldn't of asked for a better stay and the hospitality and small touches (especially the woodburner) that this apartment holds are just incredible. Amazing walks along the coast into the village just outside the door means you actually don't need to go anywhere else when your there because you've already arrived. The bedroom on the mezzanine floor is a wonder and to wake up to the view every morning was just magnificent, it simply does not matter the weather outside. Francis and family made us feel so welcome and cannot thank them enough for such an fantastic stay. 5 stars. Highly recommend. Possibly the best place I have ever stayed.

    Bob2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed the minute we arrived and felt right at home in this beautiful house. The pictures does not justify the place at all. It is such a relaxed atmosphere with a breathtaking view. Francis & Kay, we will definitely be back there soon. Thank you so much for making our Donegal trip even better than we hoped for.

  • Bernie's place is a great place to discover this coast of Ireland. Our son was involved in a Football tournament in Derry so this was the perfect distance away to enjoy Ireland, but also attend some of the games. Moville is a great town and the fact your are right at the start of the Shore path is wonderful. Bernie gave us some great tips in the local area and she placed plenty of information in the house for us to use. New Wi-fi was super fast and the place was clean and had plenty of space. We throughly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend the area and Bernie's place.

    Kelvin2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay. Great location, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Beautiful views from the house. Bernie is an excellent host who was very helpful with suggestions/tips for the local area. We also appreciated the fruit, chocolate, milk etc that Bernie had left for us. Hope to stay again in the future.

    Kiara2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Bernie’s place was just lovely. It has gorgeous water views and at night you can see the lights sparkling in the distance. The house itself is welcoming and warm, sparkling clean with comfortable beds, plenty of room and a lovely garden. The view from the kitchen is gorgeous making it a great spot for relaxing and enjoying a meal or a drink. The home is easy access to all Moville has to offer with the pubs, restaurants and cafes just a few metres away and is very quiet and peaceful at all times. There is also an easy walk to the nearby village just down the end of the street right by the water. We were lucky enough to meet Bernie and she made us very welcome and provided extras such as milk, bread and breakfast items. Bernie’s place is a real home away from home in a lovely village with friendly locals and the perfect place from which to explore this region. I highly recommend it.

  • Marvelous stay! Do not let the word 'hostel' deter you. This boutique hostel is amazing. The family rooms are large and spacious and comfortable. Moville is a beautiful village. If you have children you must stay here. The locations is wonderful. Just a five minute walk on the footpath to shops and restaurants. But why walk on the street when you can take a fairy path! Follow the fairy signs to visit the chickens and goats. Enjoy all the wonder of the babbling brook and keep your eyes open for trolls under the bridge. Stroll along the stream and take the stairs up to town, which emerges next to the best restaurant, Inish Fusion. Stop for a bottle of wine to take back to the hostel where the kitchen is for all to use. Grab some glasses and relax in the game room, or our favorite, the library. This place truly demonstrates all the magic of Ireland that you would hope for. A must see!

  • Lovely place to stay, handy for Derry and anywhere on Inishowen. Maeve was delightful, driving down to the village to guide us up the hill to her house. Furnished with taste, very comfortable, good continental breakfast, tea and coffee (plus a big tin of choccie biscuits) on demand. Sadly the weather was misty and wet for our visit, so we weren’t able to take advantage of the outside seating area and the views over the water. We’ll be back

  • Lovely cottage, very cosy.

    Francesca2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is as cute and cosy as the photos suggest - it has all the facilities you would need and is perfectly placed to explore this beautiful area. Fiona is an excellent host - communication was great throughout - what really made the stay was the personal touches to the cottage , including having the heat on for us arriving - very much appreciated ! The cottage is only 20 minutes walk from the nearest pub/ shop and only a further 10 minutes into the town itself. We would highly recommend staying here - Thanks Fiona .

    Sharon2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time at Fiona’s. The cottage was so lovely and cosy. As soon as we arrived we felt at home. Highly recommend this beautiful place.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Fiona’s beautiful cottage. Very well located for exploring the local beaches and Fiona provided excellent information about where to visit. The cottage itself was even more beautiful than the pictures and the turf fire was wonderful!

  • The cottage is the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful Inishowen peninsula. Fiona’s well organised information about the cottage and the area was very useful. The cottage itself is lovely - with a modern interior, very cosy and comfortable. Would highly recommend!

  • I cannot fault or write a bad word on this amazing cottage a great spot to explore Innisowen Peninsula .Carndonagh is a bustling wee village and the people so friendly some grt places to eat anyone who stays here will come away with the same view.

    Mark2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Whispering willows cottage is a little piece of tranquility in the middle of Inishowen! This cottage is decorated to a very high standard and is very modern, whilst still feeling cosy and intimate. From the moment you pull up outside it just feels like stepping into an old Irish home that has been modernised. The bathroom is every woman's dream, big comfy roll top bath, rain fall shower, at the back of the house where there is silence. There is even a wooden bath board which holds a glass of wine, a phone, and a book or tablet holder. The only problem you will face is how to keep the water warm while you sit and enjoy your time out. Go from there into the large comfy bed for a heavenly evening of deep restful sleep. What more could you want? There is everything you could possibly need in this cottage. Fiona very kindly provides salt, sugar, tea, coffee, jams, everything to get you going. The heating takes 1 euro for 40 mins of heat. Our week there was cold and wet everyday, 40 mins both morning and evening was enough to keep any chill out. We hastened to light the large stove fire in case it got too warm, but I can imagine in the winter that would be a dream to sit in front of on a cold night. There is lots to do around Inishowen and the town of Carndonagh is a little gem with plenty of places to eat, drink and enjoy. We loved our stay, I can't wait to go back.

    Sam2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is unbelievable. It’s cosy, gorgeous and immaculately clean. Really good tips from fiona for places to see and things to do. Everything you need shopping wise too within walking distance. Can’t wait to get planning again to get away to this cottage.

  • Super nice apartment located above a small seafood restaurant on the port: lying in the room, you can admire the port and the sea! Awesome The host is particularly attentive. We only stayed one night but it was just a special moment: a few cards around a beer in the bar-resto in the far north of Ireland. I recommend it to everyone: couple, family and / or group of friends

  • What a charming spot if you want to experience the beauty and wildness of Inishowen. The view from the front is Lough Foyle. There is a multi-kilometer shore walk from the harbor to Moville and another that goes north a good ways. The apartment is so comfortable with a fabulous restaurant just downstairs—not noisy, just a great asset. Next door is a small breakfast spot with great food and good coffee. Eoghan was gone but his mother completely filled in with all the help we asked for. it was a quiet, lovely place for exploring this lovely peninsula.

Situated above a fantastic fish restaurant. Didnt eat there on this occasion, but have eaten in there many times before and always very well catered for. Eoghan was quick to respond to email queries, and picking up keys very straightforward. All good, and Im sure we will be back again.

  • Lovely modern house in quiet residential area but within walking distance to town and some lovely restaurants .There are some beautiful beaches a short drive from Moville .There are also plenty of other activities for you to enjoy nearby. We went to Doagh famine village and The Maratime Museum and Planetarium in Greencastle and the younger members of the family went pony treking in Tullagh Bay Equestrian Centre.
