Great location situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Walks and cycling on the doorstep. Leisure facilities 1/2 mile away. Pub/ shops / restaurants 2 miles. Quarry Cottage is ideal for two adults ( no children ) visiting Northumberland and Durham. One small pet welcome. Please note....We also have the Barn next door, new for 2018. Property reference..... "Quarry Barn is a Luxury Barn Conversion" great views and super location. Both Cottage and Barn are just inside Northumberland.
Our cottage is detached from the main residence. One small well behaved dog welcome. Not suitable for infants only two adults. No WiFi through modem but 3g and 4g work well on your phone. The stairs are steep but manageable.
360 degree views overlooking beautiful country side.
  • The cottage is wonderful - gorgeously quaint and quirky with a beautiful and elegant mezzanine bedroom, cosy and comfy lounge area, well equipped, new kitchen and shower room. We had a delightful stay. The addition of wireless internet would make it perfect!

  • This is the first time staying here and we couldn’t of asked for anything better. Michael was very warm welcoming and gave plenty of information on where we could go to visit. The cottage itself was sparkling clean and the log burner was a brilliant extra. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you for a brilliant weekend

  • A lovely hideaway in the countryside. The wood burner was fantastic after returning home from a walk in a blizzard! Very nicely furnished and a lovely cosy cottage feel about it. Top Tip: Take slippers. The floors can be cold on your feet in winter.

  • Michael was very welcoming, he provided us with lots of recommendations regarding where to walk / eat and drink. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the cottage. Perfect location just off of the A68 with plenty to do in the surrounding area. You won't be dissapointed.

  • Just home from a two night stay with my friend. Despite the weather we’ve had a lovely couple of days in the cottage; the log burner and alpacas were a particular highlight for us! Hope to come back 😊

    Ashley2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy cottage with all you need for a relaxing getaway in the countryside. A couple of maintenance issues were dealt with promptly so that our stay was not affected. Would stay again.

  • We loved the cottage - a very warm welcome from Michael and great tips for local pubs and walks. Just what we needed.

  • A very well made and insulated shepherds hut with a stylish interior. Even in Storm Dennis we felt warm & cosy. A lovely little get away in the countryside and andrew made us very welcome. He even let us feed the sheep and see his workshop where he builds his Shepherd Huts.

    Clare2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, small and compact but has everything you need. Great host and even let my boy hand feed the sheep. We stayed during the last storm, was still nice and warm. Defo recommend, and we’ll more than likely re visit.

    Samantha2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Blue Hut was a fantastic get away, Andrew was brilliant left us to have our own space but was there to help when we needed it. He let us check out later on the Sunday as he had no one else arriving and there was a bad storm which was really nice of him. The Hut is really well designed myself my partner and our dog Bodhi enjoyed every minute of our stay. Definitely recommend staying here.

The facilities and decor are excellent and the grounds were great for family walks with our dog. • Quarry Barn is a lovely getaway in the perfect location! Michael & June were very responsive to messages and Michael greeted us upon arrival with some great tips and dog friendly recommendations for the local area! The Derwent Manor Hotel was within walking distance (great for a few drinks) and Derwent Reservoir was just 10 mins in the car. The barn was spotlessly clean and decorated throughout to a high standard. We hope to stay again in future!

(Dogs must be pre agreed and is an additional £20 per pet, per stay). Garden Cottage is a quaint and tranquil barn conversion, located in the heart of the beautiful Northumberland Countryside. The cottage boasts beautiful views near and far. The cottage has many windows which takes great advantage of the beautiful surroundings, looking on to the peaceful country views, court yard and paddocks. We also have an occasional barn owl.
WE ARE VERY RURAL WITH NO COVID-19 REPORTS IN THE AREA. Due to the low price I do not offer tea and coffee however, I do supply bare essentials and a few additional extras such as: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toilet roll, washing liquid as well as towels etc. I don’t supply oil in the kitchen. Garden Cottage offers something for everyone, whether it is a romantic break, business or for walking/cycling. The living, landing area and sleeping areas are very spacious and clean as well as a large garden to relax in on those sunny days. There is a sofa bed in the bedroom upstairs, which will sleep 2 people. Note: the sofa bed is a little smaller than a double bed. A small warning: The bathroom is very small, consisting of a toilet, sink and walk in shower (wet room). There is no bath. The bathroom has a glass door, which has an opaque covering and is to the side of the kitchen. The heating is turned off in the cottage during May - October. The heating will be turned on in circumstances where it is unusually cold. It's important that guests are comfortable at all times. The garden is shared. With the garden to the left belonging to the cottage and the garden on the right (containing the summer house) belonging to the farm house. As a rule and for optimum privacy, it is rare that we use the garden when we have guests, but we may use the double gates to the side of the farm house, from time to time. Whilst I allow children and infants, I don’t have any specific supplies for children and infants. For example; baby gate, changing area, cot, high chair etc
Garden Cottage is situated in the middle of country side, but within easy reach of the A68 for anyone wanting to go on any expeditions by car! There are many public footpaths to take advantage of, as well as the beautiful garden and stunning views at the Cottage itself. There are many places to visit in the surrounding areas so it is advised that guests wanting to explore should spend more than one night at our cottage. Discovering the historical landmarks at Beamish Hexham Hadrians Wall Northumberlandia Derwent walk Derwent reservoir Slaley forest Blanchland medieval village Corbridge A secure store can be provided for anyone who would like to bring a bike however, guests use our storage facilities at their own risk. The owners of Garden Cottage take no responsibility for any losses or damage whilst using our storage facilities. There are also some lovely local pubs, including the Manor House Inn, which is only 2 miles from the Cottage. This can also be accessed on foot. Travelling further afield, the Anchor Inn is also a good quality, local pub. The Manor House Inn is popular so be sure to book in advance if you’re planning to eat at the Manor House Inn. Visiting Wheelbirks ice cream parlour is also a must for some traditional pub grub as well as freshly made, decadent ice cream! The farm is approximately 15 minutes away from Garden Cottage. If you are wanting a spa day to fully relax, you can visit Slaley hall where you can book yourself In to a spa day! They also have golf!

  • We had a wonderful stay at the spacious Boathouse. We were kept entertained by the many things to do in the area, but all looked forward to returning to the Boathouse each afternoon to relax. The beds were so comfortable that our children slept past 7am each day, which is unheard of! Our five-year-old said he wanted to stay 'forever' which is endorsement indeed! We particularly enjoyed watching the birds in the garden and listening to the babbling stream, and the children loved playing with the outdoor games equipment. A tranquil, restorative place.

  • Very tidy and lovely modern cottage, equipped with everything you need. The back garden was very peaceful with great views for us and also good place for our dog to enjoy.

  • Comfy beds, lovely decor, quiet and convenient location, kind host and thoughtful recommendations (especially for dog owners). Need I say more! If you're lucky enough to have a chance to stay here, do so.

  • Beautiful little location in Riding Mill, short drive to the Roman homesteads and Hadrian’s wall which was beautifully scenic and tranquil. The boathouse is exquisite with soft comfy beds and spacious bathrooms. Had to cut the trip short due to car trouble, but looking forward to staying again.

    Tom2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Boathouse is a stylish, warm and contemporary living space. It is set in a garden, next to our host's home, in a quiet and peaceful cul de sac. It's located a short drive away from the delightful village of Corbridge. We were pleased with the dog friendly approach of our host and the many local options for spending time with our pet Greyhound.

Riding Hills Farm is a cosy, attractive and well equipped one bedroomed cottage situated in one of the prettiest and most interesting parts of Northumberland. Within two miles of the historic town of Corbridge, this comfortable cottage is tucked away in a rural location with stunning views over the Tyne Valley. Despite its rural setting it is close to some excellent pubs and restaurants, and the market town of Hexham.
The cottage is attached to our farmhouse with a private entrance and enclosed garden, and is situated in just under an acre of grounds with many excellent walks and places to visit nearby. We are close to several key Roman sites in the area including Corstopitum and Hadrian’s Wall. Newcastle is 18 miles away and the stunning Northumberland coastline is only a little further.
Our cottage is situated above the beautiful Tyne Valley, and from your garden there are stunning views to enjoy over an alfresco lunch or evening drink. The enclosed garden is exclusively for the use of our guests and you are free to help yourselves to any garden produce in season including raspberries, blackcurrants and rhubarb. Our nearest village, Corbridge, has a multitude of lovely cafes and interesting shops to explore, not to mention several very good pubs and restaurants, all of which are listed in our cottage guide along with much other useful information.
  • A lovely and cosy cottage with homely finishing touches, including eggs from Debbie and Duncan's chickens and some damson jam on arrival! We were made to feel really welcome and had everything we needed in the house - the bath and shower were amazing! The cottage was also very clean and the location was great. Lots to see and do in the area.

  • Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. Close to lots of brilliant walks and days out, as well as amenities in nearby Corbridge/Hexham. Very peaceful with great views from the garden. The cottage is clean and clomfortable with lots of individual touches. Debbie and Duncan were great hosts, left a lovely welcome package and were very helpful. Will be back again.

  • Beautiful location with stunning scenery and plenty of walks nearby. The cottage is perfect for relaxing and Debbie is an excellent host, could not recommend this place enough!

    Maryam2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious cottage with great views. Although you can walk into Corbridge, it takes about 30 minutes and there are lengths of the main road that have no pavements, so you need to be wary of traffic. There is a reliable half-hourly bus service into Corbridge and Hexham going west, and into Newcastle going east. Both bus stops are a 5-minute walk from the cottage, on the main road.

    Mac2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truely magical, the bathroom was incredible both the bath and the shower were special features, the kitchen is a very decent size, everything about this place exceeds expectation, both Debbie and Duncan will go above and beyond to offer any help you need. The scenic beauty and the silence and peace is emotionally transforming. I was truely sad to leave and will definatley be back. Thank you Both Debbie and Duncan for being such outstanding hosts. Xxx I cannot recommend this place enough!!!

  • A lovely cabin in a stunning setting. We enjoyed a great morning At Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens with our little ones (just a ten minute drive). Del was so friendly and went out of her way to help us. Would highly recommend!

    Kate2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic stay we had at Del's place. We were so impressed by the facilities in the static caravan - the bedrooms were well appointed and so comfy, the living area was super relaxing, and the garden and grounds were tranquil and so perfect. Del was a very communicative and thoughtful host - she left us some freshly laid eggs from the chickens for our breakfast, and was so friendly and helpful when we were planning where to visit. The only drawback we found is that our break was over far too quickly - one night is not enough! Thanks again.

    Carly2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • A great host, cosy, very clean accommodation with all amenities. Only there one night as en route, would love to have extended stay if possible. Recommend without hesitation.

  • Lovely and luxurious caravan set in a wonderful location to visit all that Northumberland has to offer. Beautiful views and gardens surround the accommodation and great food in the local village. Our host was so warm and welcoming. People and places like this is what makes Airbnb over booking a bog standard hotel room. 10 out of 10.

  • Cosy caravan with lots of thoughtful touches to make it very homely. Beautiful location. Restful place. I would highly recommend it.

    Janet2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem! We found Del's place as a last minute booking while travelling. Del is delightful and couldn't do enough for us. She has a busy farm but you wouldn't know it, the way she made sure we were completely comfortable. There were fresh farm eggs and special little treats left for us - far more than expected for the price. And best of all the bed was comfortable and everything was sparkling clean and surrounded in a lovely quiet garden. Best bnb we have experienced yet!

  • Nigel is a very welcoming host, we had a lovely stay at his place which was spotlessly clean; lovely breakfast made for us each day, loved having tea making stuff in the room. Nigel was very friendly and helpful, would recommend a stay here!

    Hazel2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nigel is an outstanding host who is very knowledgeable about the area and incredibly hospitable. Don't let the distance from the nearby cities impact your decision to stay as here because it is well worth it.

    Damian2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We spent one night at Nigel’s en route to Newcastle Airport. Very comfortable and clean accommodation and Nigel’s hospitality was 5 stars. Brilliant value for money. Thank you!

  • Nigel is the perfect host, I only wish the star rating was higher than 5!! Nigel was thoughtful, helpful and made my stay (which was for a course) wonderful. The breakfasts were so lovely, little touches like flowers, bottled water and fruit in the room were just amazing. Fantastic value for money, such a lovely clean house. Nigel even let me do my clothes washing there. All in all it was a much better stay than any hotel I have been in. If I need to stay up in consett again I will definitely be booking with nigel.

    Jo2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nigel was very nice and helpful. He cooked me breakfast every morning and even cooked me lunch and dinner once. He was very helpful in giving me information about the area.

  • Without a doubt, the best stay I have ever booked. Nigel is an incredible host who goes above and beyond to make your time at his wonderful property amazing. His place is spotless, warm and cozy. The location is perfect for public transport and local amenities, which Nigel cheerfully directed me to. There is so many lovely points, I could go on and on, therefore I couldn't recommend this booking highly enough. This place is home from home and a real diamond of a stay. Would definitely book again.

Ensuite bedroom plus private, unique living room space overlooking garden and woodland. Less than 5 minute walk from Stocksfield train station and bus routes between Newcastle and Hexham and around a mile from National Cycle Route 72, Hadrian's Cycleway. Handy base for exploring Roman sites of Corbridge and further west along Hadrian's Wall. Off road parking and secure bike storage available. Guests have their own side door. Access to the Rowan Suite via staircase to the first floor.
The price includes a continental breakfast hamper with granola, croissants, fruit and yogurts. And please note, I don't add on a cleaning charge, so the final price is my nightly price plus the AirBnb Service charge only. The Rowan Suite is the upstairs of a recent extension. It is reached by a separate staircase from that in the main house, so there is an instant feeling of privacy. The staircase opens into a lovely lounge, full of light and with a cosy woodburner for cooler days. The bedroom, with its ensuite shower room, is through a door from the living room. The view, which many guests comment on, is over woodland and gardens, and is very tranquil and green. It gives a timeless sense of being right in the countryside, yet you are only a 5 minute walk from Stocksfield railway station. The living room for guests has a bi-fold door and Juliette balcony , and when fully open the whole room becomes almost an outdoor space. Lovely for lazing in the sun or watching the night sky! The house is also home to a dog and 2 cats. There is a small sofa bed in the living room area which could be used for an additional guests - by prior arrangement only. It functions as a low single bed - or it can be split to create a double floor mattress or 2 single ones. It is in the living room area which does not have curtains so will get light as the day dawns. It is visible in the photos of the room. You must contact me in advance to discuss details if you would like to include additional people and there is an additional charge of £10 per person.
My house is on a very ordinary street - but the interior space is very special. The back overlooks woodland which is tranquil and accessible - and there are local walks through more woods and along a local burn. One of my guests recently uploaded a video of the view from the lounge's Juliette balcony - it's on You Tube as 'Rowan Suite New Ridley'. Nearby, Prudhoe (c 3 miles) has several restaurants and take-aways - Indian, Italian, Chinese and fish and chip and the Wellington pub in Riding Mill (2 miles and accessible by train and bus) serves food. Excitingly, The Blue Bell Inn, Mickley just outside Stocksfield has just re-opened (August 2019) and should be serving food - check facebook for details. Also nearby is the acclaimed Feathers Inn at Hedley on the Hill which has an award-winning menu. Pre-booking is essential there. Local market towns of Corbridge and Hexham both have an excellent selection of pubs, coffee houses and restaurants and plenty of independent shops. Stocksfield makes a good base for days out to explore sections of Hadrian's Wall, The Sill Landscape Centre, Beamish Museum, English Heritage or National Trust properties such as Belsay Hall, Wallington Hall and Gibside - as well as heading into Newcastle. There are a number of local artists and crafts people offering workshops and courses in the area - The Rowan Suite is perfect accommodation while you learn a new skill. The Suite is also ideal if you're attending a wedding or other event in the area. With it's separate staircase, once you have checked in, it doesn't matter how late you arrive back again, you won't need to worry too much about disturbing the household. It's only 4 .5 miles to Healey Barn and 8.5 miles to Vallum Farm - both award winning local wedding venues, so you can always get a taxi and leave your car. I'm happy to consider early check-ins for you to change/leave luggage, car etc if you're attending an afternoon ceremony. Just ask! (And don't overlook proximity to train and bus routes- you don't even need a car to get here)
  • What a gem of a place! A lovely space with a gorgeous view from the living room and a warm cosy fire. Lots of lovely touches - blankets to snuggle up with, suggestions of places to visit, a tea tray of dreams with fresh coffee, huge selection of tea and an actual teapot! Lovely hot powerful shower. Huge comfy bed. We were at a wedding in the afternoon/evening so only really got a few hours there as we were mostly sleeping. But sitting by the fire with that view and a cup of coffee in the morning was just fab. So peaceful. The breakfast hamper was superb - fresh fruit, yoghurts, granola, warm croissants, butter and jam. And fresh orange juice. Delicious and so welcome after a long day and late night! Chris (and Boo) were fab hosts. She even sorted the fire for us in the morning when she brought the hamper in. Thank you so much for having us. We'll be back!

We live in a small village in Northumberland, within easy distance of Hadrian’s spectacular wall, picturesque villages and castles galore. Our comfortable, self catering accommodation will provide all you need for a peaceful break within minutes of bus and rail links to Newcastle, Durham and the coast, and with beautiful country walks on our doorstep. Your suite of private rooms on either side of the shared hall include a sitting room, double bedroom, well equipped kitchen/diner and shower room.
Our home is at the top of a quiet cul-de-sac and built on a low hill. The house is on two levels. We live upstairs and, years ago, adapted the downstairs as a "granny flat" for my father. All the guest rooms are on either side of the shared hall on the ground floor and are completely private.
Our village is a quiet, friendly community with a gastro pub 5 minutes walk from our house. There are many lovely walks in the surrounding countryside and along the River Tyne, all accessible from our house. I've produced a map which makes it much easier to find your way out of the village to these walks - always the most difficult part of navigating. There are also Ordinance Survey maps which guests are welcome to borrow.
  • Jono & Eileen are truly super hosts. We enjoyed talking to them and felt very much at home straightaway. There were very useful leaflets, maps, booklets etc on what to do in Northumberland which we used to plan our trips to the surrounding countryside, villages / towns... The village itself is beautiful. The place was absolutely lovely with thoughtful touches to it, which meant we had all we needed plus extras. We’d highly recommend Jono & Eileen’s place and we’d definitely love to come back in the future.

  • We were attending a wedding at Healy Barn, only 10 minute drive from the Air BnB. Jono was a great host and answered all of my questions regarding travel to/from the wedding. We had the whole bottom floor to ourselves which included a kitchen, shower room, living room and bedroom. Our only regret is that we didn’t have more time to do some of the walking routes which Jono recommended. Hopefully we’ll be back again soon to explore them! Thanks again!

  • Great hosts Quick to be in touch and make you feel very welcome spacious accommodation and well situated

  • Jono’s place in Riding Mill is a real gem. Not only are Jono and Eileen superb hosts giving a really warm welcome, but they are genuinely nice people. The extra touches in the kitchen with butter, milk ,bread, tea fresh ground coffee ( and ground de-caffe) are really appreciated. All the dishes and utensils in the kitchen were spotless, as was the whole flat. Thinking about the whole experience, the name “Your Own Cosy Rooms” says it all. This was our second stay here and it will not be our last.

    Peter2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts communication was excellent and we were met on arrival with offers of as much or as little advice on local places of interest as we wanted. The flat was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well equipped with everything we wanted. It’s set in a very pretty quiet cul de sac, in walking distance of a nice pub. We really felt at home and would recommend Juno’s place to others.

  • Spotless accommodation, stylish and comfortable. Very thoughtful hosts.

    Trevor2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend Wendy as a host and her home is very homely and welcoming. Very clean and lovely touches with fluffy soft towels and tea facilities in the rooms. All the ingredients for a spot on breakfast. Beds were very comfortable. House had all the facilities required including a hot tub which unfortunately we didn't have time to use, but was all set at 38 degrees ready to use. Very good value for money and would definately go back if we were visiting the area again.

A quiet two bed semi in a small village, located high up on the Eastern edge of the Pennines. The house is light and airy with large windows. The gardens are wildlife havens with ponds used by native amphibians and native wild flowers for the bees and butterflies. In the summer you can relax on the decking under the canopy where a hammock is waiting for the ultimate chill out. A wood burning stove in the living room makes it cosy during the Winter months.
As a horticulturist and conservationist I have created a garden rich in biodiversity. Shunning most exotic species the gardens front & back are filled with native wild flowers, shrubs and wildlife. Insects enjoy the varied plant life and amphibians court and breed in the ponds. All three native newt species can be seen as well as frogs. Birds visit the ponds to bathe and drink as well as forage for food among the plant life. There are hedgehogs, bats & owls to be seen and heard. The decking to the rear is a great place to relax and unwind. The canopy overhead means you can still sit out in the rain. I also hang a hammock over the decking during the warmer months and its a great place to spend time watching the wildlife or just to drift off to sleep. The guest bedroom overlooks the back garden and the long gardens mean the houses opposite are over 50 metres away. Beyond the rooftops are the trees of the plantation which you can explore. The plantation wraps around the Southern edge of the village from end to end. The guest room has plenty of wardrobe space as well as drawers and a good tall mirror. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom and has a sink, toilet and shower cubicle. The water pressure is really strong here so showers are a delight. You can make yourself at home in the kitchen to prepare your own meals should you wish. There is an electric cooker with four ring hob, grill and oven. You'll also find a kettle, toaster and most importantly a dish washer. Huzzah! In the dining area the large pine table is ideally situated so you can enjoy a view out onto the back garden. A wood burning stove in the living area is great should you require a bit of a comfort boost on chilly nights. With kindling, logs and paper on hand. Curl up on the sofa or in one of the large armchairs with a cuppa and a good book while the fire keeps you toasty and warm.
Burnopfield is surrounded by excellent walking & cycling routes. The C2C route 7 runs at the bottom of the valley as well as the Bowes railway line which cuts through the woods at the top of the street. Tanfield railway and Causey Arch are also close by. A regular steam train runs along the 3 mile track and you can take a pleasant walk through the woods and cross the worlds first purpose built railway bridge. A 5 minute walk in almost any direction from the house will have you in open peaceful countryside. As well as all that we have major attractions like Gibside, a National Trust property at the bottom of the hill, is a 2 minute drive. Famed for its wildlife and SSSI parkland landscape it was home to the Bowes Lyon family and was a favourite spot of the late Queen Mother. Award winning Beamish open air museum is 15 minutes drive. Allow a good full day to take it all in. 10 minutes away is The Metro Centre for all your indoor shopping needs, it also has a cinema as well as a host of independent and franchise eateries. Historic market towns like Morpeth, Hexham and Durham are just a short drive away. Buses from Burnopfield high street to Newcastle, the Metro Centre and Gateshead are frequent. Shops in the village include three general stores, a bakers/sandwich shop, holistic beauty salons, hairdressers and several takeaways. Two of the pubs offer some great live music and one does food. There are three golf courses all within a few minutes drive and other pubs as well as cafes offering good food and drink. Down below in Rowlands Gill is a small Tesco as well as a cafe, pet food store and florists. Two small restaurants Italian & Chinese and a gym. Above us in The Hobson is another pub and a small coffee shop The Joinery. Within the industrial estate is another gym. Further afield you can drive within 20 minutes to the North Pennines AONB and explore the rugged countryside of Weardale and Teesdale. Some enchanting villages and breath taking scenery mixed with historic ruins from the expansive mining history. Natural beauty surrounds you such as Derwent reservoir, High Force and Hannahs Meadow. Plant hunters will enjoy finding the hidden gems of the Teesdale Assemblage. Distinct and rare plant species left from the last ice age, most of which are found nowhere else in the UK. For history buffs the newly opened Land of Oak and Iron visitor centre and cafe is along the valley. You can find out about the local mining history and maps show a variety of walks.
  • John is an exceptionally considerate, welcoming host and I was delighted to be his first guest. His communication before my last minute stay was excellent, clear and polite and the accommodation is exactly as described on the site, a comfortable single bed with cotton linen ( that can be extended for a second person) overlooking a long garden full of birds, native plants shrubs and trees in bud and 3 ponds with plentiful frogs spawn! The house is a clean, peaceful environment with a beautiful wood burning stove in the ( television free) lounge. John is great company as well as being sensitive to one’s privacy. Sadly due to the current Covid-19 situation my 5 day stay was cut short but I will certainly return when next working in Newcastle ( a 20 min drive away) as I could not wish for a better stay or host.

  • Bramble cottage was the perfect place to stay for our trip to Hadrian's wall and Kielder forest. Self check in was easy with the lockbox and parking right outside the front door. Karen had kindly left a bottle of wine for us to enjoy as well as some biscuits to go with the coffee pods provided. The cottage was comfortable and had all the pots, pans and utensils that we needed to cook a few meals. The bed was soft and the towels fluffy. I'd definitely recommend a stay here.

Loved all of the little touches throughout and was more than suitable for our 1 and a 1/2 year old. Thank you and hopefully will be back again one day!

We are 3 miles from the historic village of Corbridge with its great shops, pubs and restaurants, one and a half miles from Hadrian's Wall, 20 minutes from airport and 25 minutes from Newcastle. This is a newly refurbished old stable which is a cosy hideaway in the Tyne Valley. Extensive walks are available on this working farm. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and dogs (sorry, no cats). Sadly owing to recent experiences we now need to charge £5 per dog per night.
  • A lovely, characterful cottage on a farm in a beautiful area of the country. We wouldn’t have changed anything.

  • Ailsa's Cottage is a delight and exactly as it is described, a warm, cosy and very welcoming cottage. It has everything you may need plus being perfecty situated to enjoy the stunning Northumbrian countryside and local attractions. My partner, dog and I spent a wonderful couple of nights there, it was not nearly long enough! It is Ailsa's little attentions to detail that set this cottage apart from many, I cannot rate it highly enough.

  • I really don't have the words to say how beautiful this little cottage is and how much we enjoyed our stay. We spent most of our time walking and exploring around the beautiful areas or sat in front of the fire in the cottage relaxing. Lovely little touches, beautiful views, super clean and cosy and just what we needed for a break away from normal life 😁 We can't wait to come back! Thank you so much for having us and making sure we had everything we needed. Would 100 percent recommend anyone to stay here xx

Pry is a cosy 18th-century, cottage farmhouse within five acres of wild flowers, a verdant copse and running burn. Near Hadrian’s Wall and medieval Blanchland, Pry lies just south of Hexham and Corbridge, making it the perfect base for exploring Northumberland and beyond. Help is on hand with Steve and Cocker Spaniel Kes. There’s homemade organic breads, rare-breed (even Roman!) eggs and advice on walking, cycling, or casting a fly for salmon and wild trout.
Pry offers two very comfortable double bedrooms and access to the Book Room to chill out and relax. The bedroom facing Slaley has a king-size bed with views and a glow of natural sunlight particularly in the late afternoon, early evening. The adjoining bathroom has a walk-in Eco-smart shower with a large raindrop head and heated towel rail. The other bedroom captures the early light and provides a double bed with a wonderful view of the garden. This bedroom is only available if you are one party. Pry provides locally sourced breakfast from the village and surrounding area and is committed to providing Fairtrade products like tea and coffee. The menu varies daily according to availability and preference. A picnic can be made up for £10 a person.
At Pry you can simply pop out the gate and walk or cycle through dappled woods and alongside rivers and burns. One of our family’s favourite walks is through Slaley Forest across the grouse moors to the medieval village of Blanchland. Here the Lord Crewe Arms serves local ales and has an excellent restaurant for that special night out. If it is a spa you are after and a massage, or a more energetic game of golf, then it is less than a mile to Slaley Hall, a popular hotel and health resort. Also within distance are the milecastles, forts and museums that dot Hadrian’s Wall, a world heritage site. Nearby Corbridge is a useful starting point. Hexham boasts a wonderful abbey, while Durham City with its renowned castle and cathedral are a short drive away. So too is the Northumberland National Park and Kielder Forest for outdoor pursuits like sailing. Cycling is a family favourite and routes abound. And there is always the River Tyne – a paradise for those casting a salmon fly. After an unforgettable day, you can relax at Pry. There is community run pub and restaurant a field away, or if you want to slump in the comfort of the Book Room, why not order 'Abend brot' of soup, homemade bread and cheese. The wood burner takes any chill away.
  • Steve, Harriet, and Kes the dog ate wonderful hosts. Breakfast was a real highlight with homemade bread, and the log burner in the living room. They made us so welcome, and theirs local knowledge was invaluable. The peace and quiet of the surroundings were perfect. We will definitely return to this beautiful place.

    Katy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's cottage is a charming property, very well managed and looked after. On arrival, my friend and I were greeted with the most enthusiastic welcome we've ever received at any b&b as Steve's dog Kes could not have been happier to make two new acquaintances. The rooms were full of light, had exquisite views of the countryside and were warm despite the not-so-hot weather. The bathroom had recently been renovated and was looking very nice, too bad for a little problem with the shower due to which we had to use another bathroom, one with extremely hot water coming out of it, to shower. This problem, however, should be fixed by the time anyone else visits. As for the breakfast, we were offered many different options to choose from and everything we ended up having was truly delicious. All in all, I would recommend staying at Pry to anyone seeking an authentic countryside cottage experience.

    Elena2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Steve’s house is very easy to find and very close to Slaley Hall and Healey Barn. We had a wedding at Healey barn and had to be in and out of the house and back and forth to Slaley and Healey Barn. Steve was very flexible with allowing us to come and go as we pleased. The amenities are very comfortable and he makes a great coffee. We would definitely recommend. Keith

Hello! I am renting out one or two bedrooms, with your own modern private bathroom and also private living/dining room. My home is on a quiet street, with plenty of parking and only a 5/10min walk into the centre of town through the local park. I've lived in the area all my life and so can offer great advice on places to eat, pubs, picturesque walks and places worth a visit. If the guests wish I will also offer a well equipped continental breakfast with teas and filter coffee.
The main bedroom is a queen size bed with desk, draws, wardrobe, kettle with fair trade teas, coffee and cookies. There is also a TV screen with a HDMI cable so guests can watch films and TV programs from their laptop. The second room is a new large single bed which also has a wardrobe, draws and a new bedside table. The living room has a comfy sofa to relax on next to a log burning stove. It also has a dinning room table where your breakfast will be laid out for you in the morning. Or a place for you to eat a take away/dinner if you wish to stay in on the evenings. It also has a piano if you wish to play some music. The bathroom has a powerful shower with bath tub, sink, toilet and a cupboard filled with toiletries. There is also a garage to the back of the house where guests can store bikes or any other equipment if they wish. I should also mention that we have a very lovely greyhound who will be in the house, she wont pester you on your stay but if you enjoy playing with dogs she is very friendly and will love your attention.
We are located on a quite road with plenty of parking spaces. We're walking distance of everything needed and roughly 5-10 minutes to the centre of town and a one minute walk from the main park, the Sele park, and also from a nice pub called the Fox with local ales and a pool table.
  • Rosie's place is wonderful! The facilities are just right and she has thought of everything. Communication was quick and efficient and all instructions easy to follow. The house is located in a quiet street and it is an easy walk to the centre of Hexham. Liz (Rosie's Mum) looked after us during our recent visit and was kind and helpful and very friendly. Last but not least - this has to be the best value accommodation in the town!

  • Great room, great breakfast, and all very close to the town centre! Highly recommended.

  • Rosie was away but her mum, Liz, did a great job of looking after us, setting out a fine continental breakfast in the morning and lighting a lovely wood-burning stove for us in the evenings. Comfortable bed, stylish house, nice bathroom, kind use of the kitchen, friendly dog - all highly recommended.

  • We had a great weekend at Kim's place. The space looks exactly like it is in pictures, and is perfect for two people. Kim was a great host and sent us a guide to the property before arrival - which got me very excited for the trip! We recommend putting the fire on if you are visiting in the colder months, although the property has underfloor heating which is great. The picturesque village of Blanchland is nearby and well worth a visit.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Lanchester. Our hosts were so nice and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and had recommendations for all sorts of activities and restaurants. The accommodation is superb, and has everything you need for a comfortable stay - including the all important bottle opener! The lodge is spacious and has a lovely good sized wet room. Comfortable armchairs have been provided so you have options should you choose to have a cozy night in as we did. Our hosts even went to the trouble of stocking books and board games. Lots of little extras such as shampoo, body wash, body cream etc were provided in the bathroom. And the kitchen was stocked with bread and milk for our arrival - which is always a lovely touch. Next time we are in the North East we will be staying here again.

  • Lovely holiday home, very clean and everything you needed for your stay. Even called before we arrived to check what bread & milk we needed. Super hosts. Strongly recommend to others. One possible thing that would have helped, a stronger hoover. This is only because our collie is very hairy and I was paranoid re the hairs. Not complaining in any way re this. Thanks for a brill holiday Graeme & Jacky

Our special hut is a romantic space to relax & unwind. It's completely off grid, set at the top of our grazing field and overlooks the Lanchester valley. A comfortable double bed, cosy log burner, and extensive views make it the perfect place to read, watch nature and escape. Surrounded by trees but with an open aspect to the west, sunsets can be spectacular. Undisturbed by wi-fi or mains electricity you can get completely back to basics in style.
We decided to build this hut as our own home from home and love it so much we decided to share it. We've enjoyed many tranquil evenings with logs on the fire and food on the stove. Glass of wine in hand we've and seen owls, bats, deer, hares, buzzard and many others besides
Our hut is about 1.5 miles from the village of Lanchester in Co. Durham. Lanchester has a well stocked Spar, a couple of pubs, one of which does food, 2 Italian restaurants and all the amineties of a small town. The city of Durham is about 9 miles away with the castle, and world heritage site of Durham Cathedral. From Lanchester you are also within striking distance of the Durham and Northumberland coasts, the North Pennines, Beamish Museum and Gibside Hall & Gardens to name but a few.
  • Really lovely and cosy.

    Dave2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway for a night by a cosy log burner to appreciate the simplest things in life!

    Pippa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is an experience you must have at least once. Even though it was raining when we stayed, it was surprisingly cozy with the log burner and candles lit by night. We won’t spoil the story of the origin of Shepherds hut as Marion tells it well, but it’s obvious it was built with love.

    Dan2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Another fantastic stay at this gorgeous little hideaway. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts and sharing your amazing hut with us. Countryside, candles, fairy lights and a log burner is just perfection for a rare night away child free 😍We can’t wait to return.

  • A beautiful place, a lovely cozy sanctuary to get away from modern life. Best sleep I've had in a while.

    Erin2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little hidden hut with all the amenities of camping for an outdoors experience with a more sturdy roof over your head. Extremely quiet and comfortable with some delightful personal touches.

    Jason2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful shepards hut in a quiet rural location. Its located at the top of a field with its own wooded area and gate (great and secure for dogs), it's nice and secluded which is perfect. We arrived and had cakes and biscuits waiting for us which was a lovely touch. (and they were delicious 😊). Few minutes away from Lanchester (we picked up takeaway from the Greek restaurant which was really nice). Don't hesitate to book. It's a lovely place to escape to. We will definitely be back!

    Kelly2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for two nights at this hut, it was absolutely beautiful! Completely secluded from the outside world which is just what me and my partner needed. It was clean, hosts were very welcoming and very helpful throughout and little touches within the hut were just perfect! We’d love to go back soon.

The views from the village across the Tyne Valley are spectacular, and the property has a rear sitting-out area to relax in. This is a charming base from which to tour the many attractions in the area, or make a holiday out of a visit for a special event, such as the Great North Run or a university graduation ceremony. Roam free in rolling countryside, visiting quaint villages or head to the city and see the Angel of the North, or visit BALTIC and other museums in Newcastle. Hexham is dominated by a medieval abbey (built of stone from Hadrian’s Wall) and the Old Gaol depicts the Border Reivers’ story. Durham is within easy reach by car. Don’t miss the Heritage coast, less than an hour away, by heading north and sampling the many castles and miles of golden sandy beaches. An ideal location from which to explore this wonderful county from inland to the coast.
