Places to stay in Ripley
Perfect location for exploring the beautiful Amber Valley and Derbyshire countryside. Belper is 20 mins drive to Derby or Matlock and 30 mins drive to Chatsworth and Bakewell.
Belper is great place to explore with lots of independent retailers, coffee shops restaurants, bars and cinema. It is surrounded by picturesque countryside and has a beautiful park, The River Gardens, which is an ideal spot for a picnic or hiring a row boat to explore the River Derwent.
  • Only stayed the one night, but very impressed with the comfortable accommodation in a nice quiet location. Lovely healthy breakfast with a fridge supplied in the bedroom. Christina was a lovely friendly host. Very good value and will definitely look to stay again if I'm in the area.

There was a nice selection of cereal, crumpet, bread, milk and butter for toast, plus tea/coffee. I will definitely recommend this place and will be using it again. Spot on Christina!

A beautiful room in a lovely house on a quiet road in Duffield which is close to the A38 and 6 miles from Derby City Centre. Duffield is a lovely village with restaurants, shops, bars and open countryside within walking distance from the house. The bedroom has a dual-aspect to the garden, an ensuite bathroom and is on the ground floor with its own separate access via the dining room.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, check-in usually has to be after 6pm to give us time for change-over between guests. On other days, check-in can be earlier. The bedroom is decorated in a contemporary style and has a double bed with good quality mattress, a bedside table, a desk, two chairs, wall hanging space for clothes, coffee and tea-making facilities. Breakfast is not included.
There is a golf course (4 min walk), restaurants, bars, cafes and coffee shops in the village (10 min walk)
  • This is a beautiful space in which to stay. I spent a night here before a very busy weekend and it was ideal. Apart from the decor, the place is nice and quiet, but very well situated... Handy for the village and places beyond. Communication was easy, as was coming in and leaving the following day. I had a lovely evening there and would recommend!!

    Carole2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place on a wet rainy evening. Easy to find. Clear visual instructions for entry via key box. Warm and cosy, kettle and tea items all waiting for me. Everything you need is in the room, including a desk and chairs. Immaculately clean. Firm and comfortable mattress. A quiet street and house. Plenty of street parking. Thank you.

Very quiet former farmhouse tucked into a peaceful corner of Marehay and overlooking countryside. There are stables and horses.
Very quiet detached house in Marehay, on the outskirts of Ripley in the borough of Amber Valley in Derbyshire. A cosy double bedroom in a former farm house set in a peaceful corner of Marehay. It is a quiet home with stables and horses. The room overlooks countryside, has an extremely comfortable King sized bed, free WiFi, Smart TV and facilities to make endless coffee, tea or hot chocolate. There is a spacious, shared ( just with me) bathroom with separate shower. Towels and shower gel are provided. There is a private garden which guests are very welcome to sit in to relax if the weather is inviting . There is ample parking space here.
Marehay is a former mining community and one mile from Ripley. We are 10 miles from Derby ( (30minutes), 20 miles from Nottingham (40 minutes), 10 miles from Matlock (21 minutes) and 2.5 miles from Swanwick and a five minute drive to The Hayes Conference Centre. The Peak District is 19 miles away. We are almost two and a half miles from Butterley, a heritage railway running steam train rides. The nearest shops are a mile away in Ripley. There is a pub, The Village Inn, which is a two minute walk and which serves food in the evening.

A peaceful retreat in an idyllic setting on the outskirts of Derby in a picturesque village with a popular pub restaurant and tea room. It is an ideal location for both business and leisure visitors to Derbyshire: approximately five minutes drive to Kedleston Hall, Derby University and Duffield and also conveniently situated for Rolls Royce, Bombardier, Derby Royal Hospital and Toyota. You are welcome to help yourself to tea, coffee, juice and for breakfast there are cereals and toast.
With many footpaths through the countryside on its doorstep, it is a relaxing place to unwind in a rural setting while still less than 5 miles to Derby city centre.
The extremely popular pub restaurant 'The Joiners Arms' is a 10 minute walk away and the Tea room 'Queenies' serving light lunches is five minutes walk away. Kedleston Hall is five minutes drive away and turning right out of the drive leads you straight to the magificent Derbyshire countryside
  • Wendy was very warm and welcoming. The room was beautiful and all the amenities were spotless. I loved being able to write in this lovely space. Wendy was also very helpful with local walks and other titbits of information. I would highly recommend Wendy and her home to anybody, especially if you want to find some gorgeous walks that you can get to from your doorstep. This is a little gem of a place to stay with a wonderful host who goes the extra mile.

  • Wendy has been a great host, with full attention to all details. Great welcome and greeting . House and Room are spotlessly clean with lots of amenities available in a luxury level. • What an ideal space for what I needed within the price I had in mind too. Beautiful nature surroundings and a very cosy comfortable warm spacious room with a private bathroom. Wendy is very easy going and efficient and all in all made my brief stay very positive. If I'm in that area again Wendy, no doubt I'll book your place. Best wishes. Greg

    Greg2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb stay and Wendy has set the bar incredibly high! The suite of rooms has everything you could need and Wendy has provided a host of thoughtful extra touches (bathrobe, hairdryer, toiletries, snacks etc). The bed was comfortable and the shower had fantastic pressure if you care about that, and I definitely do! The house is very quiet and peaceful. Wendy was very quick to reply to messages and gave clear and accurate directions, and was there to welcome me when I arrived. I really can’t recommend staying here highly enough... I’m only sad I couldn’t stay more than one night.

  • Great English BnB. Prompt communication for the booking, friendly welcome when I got there, lovely room, spotless, and the bathroom was superb. Breakfast was lovely, Ken said I could have any variation on breakfast, but the full English was what I wanted anyway, fresh fruit and a variety of cereals, fresh coffee, everything I needed in a homely atmosphere. In fact, everything I would hope for at an English BnB. Thank you Ken and Sylvia!

    Tony2020-03-02T00:00:00Z

  • Ken and Sylvia made us welcome from the moment we arrived. It felt like a home from home. We had a great breakfast. The beds were large and comfortable. Ken offered and gave us help with getting to the nearby wedding we attended. We also shared a drink and some life stories. Lovely!

    Dave2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • It is always a delight to stay at Lilycroft, the welcome is warm, the hosts are a delight and it is alway spotlessly clean.

    Phil2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem of an Air B&B with Ken & Sylvia the most amazing hosts. The accommodation is all ‘upstairs’ comprising of 2 double bedrooms, with one room having the en suite in it (which is shared by both rooms). The beds are super comfy, everywhere scrupulously clean with the bathroom having a great shower (no bath). Lots of thoughtful touches: tea & coffee making facilities in the space between the 2 bedrooms; bottles of water; toiletries in the bathroom should one forget anything of one’s own. Evening meals were an option for a very nominal additional charge. The food was home cooked by Ken and on both evenings they ate with us, making us feel like we were part of the family. Amazing! This is one of the best AirB&B ever....one not to be missed!

Lovely 1 bed cottage, built in 1845, on a quiet no-through lane. Own parking space. Great views, with field opposite and adjacent to a wood. Cottage is end terraced and all neighbours helpful and friendly. Great area for walking and a couple of good pubs within half a mile that serve food. Duffield and Little Eaton villages both within a mile - both have shops, more pubs and different types of takeaways. Car probably required in order to enjoy all that Derbyshire has to offer
Cottage is close to Makeney Hall so for those attending functions there and want a bit more space than a hotel room, the cottage is perfect.
  • Lovely quiet stay in a cosy home. Nice quaint village 10/15 minute walk away with plenty of pubs and restaurants with lovely menus. Or use the kitchen facilities to cook whatever you’ve filled the large fridge freezer with - Jacqui left us the basics for breakfast and a cup of tea which was lovely :) Due to the nature of the old cottage, would not reccomend this property to those with young children or those with mobility difficulties because of uneven floors etc but apart from that we have absolutely no complaints about this property. Loved our stay.

    Fern2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my partner greatly enjoyed our stay in Jacqui’s cottage. She was a very accommodating host and met us on the first day of our stay. We were provided with some groceries which was greatly appreciated and were provided a tour of the cottage. Here she explained the different rules for the duration of our stay and gave advise on things to do in the local area. The cottage was great, the kitchen had all the facilities and appliances you would require for a long stay. We stayed for 10 days and it had everything you could possibly need.. Dishwasher, cooker, oven, microwave, kettle and fridge freezer. It’s really kitted out if you required a longer period of stay. The bedroom was fine and had an incredible view to wake up to each morning. The bed was extremely comfortable. The living room was adequate for relaxing, the TV is slightly small but it’s likely you would not find much time to sit and watch TV with so many beautiful places nearby to visit. The only other comment was the lighting in the living roomie always felt quite dimly lit in the evening with all the lights on. This was not really a problem for us though. Overall we had a really good stay and was pleasantly surprised at how good value this cottage is. It’s very well connected and not that far from Derby city centre, as a bonus it also has its own drive for car parking.

  • Stayed here for 3 weeks, absolutely stunning home with views to match. Jacqui's home had everything I needed with a lovely greeting of refreshments on arrival. Communication was outstanding and I was made to feel right at home.

  • The lounge was more spacious than I was expecting. Stunning views. Really lovely place.

    Rebecca2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqui's cottage is just like the pictures, even a bit more spacious than they suggest. It's really cosy and feels like a proper little home. It has everything you need for a comfortable and self-sufficient stay: really well equipped kitchen, stove and lots of useful little extras. The view over the valley is beautiful and there are great pubs and walks nearby as well as shops in the two local villages. Easy access to Duffield train station if you don't have a car. Jacqui was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We would love to return!

    Tim2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqui has been a great host and her cottage is lovely. We booked there for my parents who where visiting me, which were delighted by how the cottage is nice and well kept, as well as the beautiful location. Jacqui left a lot of tips for the area with what to do and what to see. They were very happy about their stay and will definitely come again when in Derby. Great host and great place, definitely recommended! Fabio

1 bedroomed, sleeping up to 2 people cottage in the heart of the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. This lovely stone built cottage, overlooks a 13th Century chapel with views across this beautiful town and is located on a quiet cobbled side street, in a Conservation Area. It is filled with vintage charm and has a boutique feel. Whether you arrive by car, train or bus you're just minutes away from the town centre, making this one of the most accessible places to stay in the county we believe.
Strutt Cottage is just a 5 minute walk from the centre of town and all amenities. Yet has countryside views and is nestled within a beautiful Conservation Area. There’s even a wonderful cinema nearby!
  • Had a lovely Christmas week at Strutt Cottage. Really cosy and warm, close to town and local pubs. Barry was an excellent host with quick communications.

  • Was so happy with our stay at this little bungalow! Amazing! Such cute thoughts put into the little touches! As soon as we walked in we smelt a breath of fresh air! It was so clean! The bed was the most comfy thing I’ve slept on! We literally knocked out as soon as we got into it! I’d 10000% come and stay here again! Perfect for a little get away! We even got complimentary breakfast! What more could we possibly ask for!

    Kavita2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly I like to comment on how incorrect the last review was, Emma is very good at communication, I messaged her a couple of times and both times she answered my questions, I was up here visiting family, we were eating in Belper which is less than 5 minutes away in a car. The bungalow itself is beautifully decorated and has some lovely features, there is cereal, bread, butter, jam, milk, orange juice, tea, eggs and coffee provided. The bed is so comfortable and the walk in shower is amazing. It is private and not overlooked by any houses. I love the fact I could let myself in via a keysafe as I chose a self-contained place as I love my privacy. I will definitely be back as it is a wonderful place to stay.

    Yvonne2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal accommodation for two and dog friendly. Well equipped, spacious, comfy, clean, welcoming. Key box so conviennent. Heating and lighting in for arrival. Lots of supplies for breakfast . Clear communication. Amazing value. Our second time here. Can highly recommend.

My home is in a good location. Close to shops and outdoor spaces. It is open plan so unless I’m not in the house your privacy would be limited.
The house is on the outskirts of Nottingham where there are good transport links into the city centre about 8 miles away. I am close to East Midlands airport. A taxi will cost £25 each way. I may be able to drop off or collect for a small charge.
I am in easy walking distance to Giltbrook retail park where you can shop at Ikea, Decathlon, Next, TKMAX amongst others. There is a Starbucks, Costa, Frankie and Benny’s, Pizza Express and Nando’s. Close to J26 of the M1 so good transport links and a good base to explore Derbyshire Peak District and Sherwood Forest.

  • We had a lovely home away from home at The Barn, being Feb we used it as a base to travel around various attractions (with my 7-year old) as it sadly rained lots and we didn’t use the terrace...it’s a lovely space, we never had trouble with heating - was wonderfully warm and the heating system changed temp immediately ....water tank is massive, so we never ran out - my daughter had a daily roll top bath! The local Puss in Boots pub is extremely friendly. Lovely place to stay.

Our family den can be yours for the night if you wish! Tucked away on the side of our house, it's where we come to unwind, but we're more than happy for you to use it for a night! Inside, you'll find a nice sofa bed, shower/toilet utility room with washing machine/dryer and an iron if you need it. Being a den/man cave, its got Satellite TV, DVDs and (a rare treat) a plethora of Video games consoles ranging from 1980's Atari's to modern day Xbox's - you're more than welcome to play!
There's on road parking right outside the house, a private entrance onto a little decking area.
Our house is on a quiet little street about 5 minutes from the main road serving Eastwood town center and down to the A610 junction. Across the road is a pub that in the very near future will be doing food - it's 'local' but friendly. We're about a 5 minute drive from the A610, 10 minutes from the M1 and a 5 minute walk from a bus stop serving Nottingham City Center within around 40 minutes. There's also a great butchers 2 minutes down the road that does fantastic hot cobs, sandwiches and cakes if that takes your fancy.
  • Very nice family room was always clean N they were ever so helpful Very quick on replying and very helpful in local knowledge

  • Great hosts, Great space, Great stay! With having my one year old son with me I needed an en suite, so was happy to find ‘The Den’ at such a great price. Hosts were great, very friendly and helpful. The sliding door from The Den goes into the hosts kitchen but they were so respectful regarding any noise. The room is great, lovely and warm all the time, fab shower, it even had a chalk wall for my little one to draw on. He loved it! We stayed for three nights and will definitely return if I need to be in the area again. Thanks for a great stay guys 😊

Suzy had thoughtfully stocked the kitchen area with a generous supply of breakfast items and equipped the place with everything we needed for our relaxing short break. We thoroughly enjoyed playing badminton in the adjacent hall and slept well in the warm and cosy bed.

  • Lovely place, lovely house and very cheap and affordable, would definitely recommend, there was even a bottle of wine in the fridge! I’m a massive cat lover so it was nice to see cats around, as I have two dogs they loved it too! Thanks again! Just bare in mind if you come for the first time in the dark, it can be tricky to find the house :) thanks again x

  • Julie is a very friendly and helpful host and she keeps an immaculate house, at a very competitive rate. The decor is superb throughout, and we enjoyed meeting her sweet cat and dog also. The guest bedroom is very comfortable, with a bathroom next door to it for guest use only (containing a great high-tech shower). We will definitely stay with Julie again when we want a break in the Derby area.

  • A great little gem of a cabin. It feel like your a million miles away from the hussle of any town, but conveniently close to lots of attractions. Very well equipped inside, with beautiful scenery.

  • My favourite air bnb experience so far. Everything was spot on with the lodge - really warm, lovely high quality furnishings, comfy and huge sofa, great kitchen and wonderful bed. Amazing views of countryside all around the living room and all mod cons. I could live there! Feels very private and the dogs were a joy too - really friendly and soft. Second to none hospitality - we were brought fresh farm eggs and had a lovely morning seeing lambs born just that morning and chatting to Chris about the farm. Paula was very quick with responding to any questions about the booking and check in was easy and smooth. We had a great walk to Hardwick Hall, Paula was so helpful with directions. Loads of walks and runs in the area and Hardwick Inn is a great pub for lunch and beers post walk. This is such a top spot for a weekend break, you can just stay in the lodge and cook or get a takeaway! A lovely family and a lovely spot - an experience that reminds you how great Airbnb is to have genuine experiences. Thank you!

    Natalie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely setting, perfect for a couple of days to chillout and relax. Will be back in summer when we can sit on the little deck with the fire pit

    Sinead2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little retreat! I went for a weekend away and a breather and couldn’t be more pleased. The cabin is immaculate and well presented, lovely and warm with a great little kitchen and soft furnishings. Even though it was a rainy weekend it was still beautiful to sit and relax, especially with the family dogs popping on to the deck to say hello and sunbathe (when the sun did come out). Paula was very welcoming but also we were able to relax and unwind. There was lots of walks around if that is your jam but great for a simple cuddle up and read weekend too. I definitely will be coming back for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

    Alex2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Bob and Marion were great hosts and were able to provide great local knowledge. House was great and would recommend to anyone.

  • Highfield Cottage was one of the nicest AirBnbs I have stayed at. Not only was it a great location to get to Derby or Nottingham, but the house itself was outstanding. Very stylish, particularly the kitchen and bathroom, and it was packed with everything you'd need for a stay away, and then some. It was extremely clean and a well thought out design which made it wonderful to stay in. On top of all this was the icing on the cake, Bob and Marion. The friendliest hosts I've met and they were genuinely interested in us and making us feel welcome. The muffins and prosecco on our arrival were such a thoughtful touch. If you're thinking of coming to this area, Highfield Cottage should be number one on your list!

    Thomas2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Bob and Marion’s cottage is fabulous! Warm, comfortable, very spacious , spotlessly clean, a real home from home with absolutely everything you need. I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay here. Many thanks Bob and Marion. X
