Places to stay in Ripponden

Places to stay in Ripponden
The heated tree cabin is set within a small secluded wood up a steep path. Cedar lined, insulated and oak clad it cantilevers out over a remote mill pond. Wake up in a tranquil heaven only shared with shy wildlife, including deer, hare, the odd badger and a variety of birds. In the cabin are a king-size sofa bed, table and chairs, kitchen area with kettle, microwave oven and chiller. Your own smaller tree cabin, a few trees away, houses a flushing toilet and hand basin with spring water.
Whilst in bed gently falling asleep watch the moon rise over the mill pond through the tree branches and then watch the sun rise the following morning! A romantic getaway for the adventurous couple. Tucked away in a small woodland at the edge of a mill pond you will feel totally secluded as the cabin is difficult to spot from the surrounding areas but the reality is that you are close to a no through road, a village store and the delights of Hebden Bridge. Supplied with electricity and hot and cold spring water you are still part of the 21st Century but at the same time remote from it all. (In fact, so remote, that there is barely any mobile signal or wifi). There is a quality king size sofa bed, chairs for relaxing and dining and a kitchen area with basic cooking equipment and electric heating. Most 'camping style' cooking and eating essentials are provided including a microwave oven and a chiller cabinet. There is also a small portable induction hob and frying pan. A full breakfast is not included, but inside the cabin you will find cereals, fruit juice, milk, fruit yoghurt and of course tea, coffee and sugar. A few trees away there is your own, smaller tree house with a flushing toilet and hand basin fed with pure spring water. Hot running water, face flannels and towels are provided. There is an external hot and cold alfresco shower or for the hardy (or foolhardy!) take a dip in the mountain stream. If the weather is inclement we can usually arrange a time for you to use the shower in the main house.
We are surrounded by public footpaths, bridleways for biking and plenty of fresh air. There is a farm shop under a mile away that stocks everything and is open 12 hours a day. The nearest bus stop with a regular half hourly service to Hebden Bridge is a mile away. We are on a no-through, single track, tarmac road.
  • It's hard to find the words to explain how amazing this place is. Tranquil, beautiful and a little bit of heaven tucked into a gorgeous bit of Yorkshire. It was lovely and cosy and very comfortable. Tony was an amazing host, I didn't get chance to meet Barbara but I will be back so hopefully will get the pleasure next time. The outdoor shower was just amazing. The weather was fairly mild but it was an exhilarating experience none the less. I can't wait to visit again.

  • The pictures and descriptions have literally made me feel excited ever since booking this trip and whilst they were incredibly accurate, nothing prepared me for the overwhelming beauty of the space, as we arrived. Tony was incredibly welcoming and supportive and explained everything to us with so much patience, although we had arrived quite late. The view from the bed in the mornings was probably my highlight, and I don't believe I could put into words how very calming, nourishing and relaxing the little cabin was. On the last day, we braved the elements and tried the alfresco shower and it was such a surreal experience. Despite the cold temperature outside, the water was hot enough to not even notice the cold, and the views were simply breathtaking. Both the main cabin and the smaller "bathroom" were decorated with so much love for details and provided us with everything we could have possibly dreamt of. We had no reception whatsoever, which was great to just be in the moment and take everything in. We went to Hebden Bridge twice for food and coffees and had lovely vegan food and stacked up on some snacks and water. The fairy lights outside the door, as well as the smaller lamps inside the cabin always invited us to stay in, read a lot of books or play chess. Overall this was one of the most beautiful holidays I have ever been on and we are more than excited to hopefully come back next year again.

  • Stunning place even in the rain. Beautiful surroundings truly at one with nature. On arrival Tony & Barbara shared information about the local area and walls. Then to the cabin which was very spacious and tranquil. 100% recommend this place. Would like to book again when I can find a date it’s free, that’s just how amazing this place is. Thank you so much!

  • We had a lovely stay in the cabin and really enjoyed our time there! Feels very secluded despite being close enough to the house in case we needed anything; the perfect balance! Tony and Barbara provided some very handy tips for walks around the area, as well as delicious flapjacks and great selection of hot drinks and breakfast options. Really accommodating of dairy free too, which was much appreciated! Good location, with Hebden Bridge only a short drive or bus journey away. Such wonderful accommodation. Will definitely be looking to stay again next year!

    Harriet2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Barbara and Tony's, really friendly hosts and beautiful location with lots to do nearby. The cabin itself was really unique and Barbara and Tony provided us with useful ideas for walks and were really quick with communication

    Simran2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the tree cabin for a little break away. It was absolutely beautiful, great location & the hosts were lovely adding thoughtful touches to the stay including Tony’s homemade delicious flapjacks 😃

    Lauren2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • You have to experience the cabin to understand it's charms. It was everything the details told us but Tony and Barbara's extra bits were great. Homemade flapjack on our arrival was delicious along with all the tea, coffee etc which was so helpful but on arriving the peace was something else. Absolutely no phone signal or WiFi in the unit helped us relax but you cannot stay in the cabin and not relax. We never touched the car until we left walking everywhere and wallowing in the views but the final joy was on the morning we left jumping into the outdoor shower was an experience that will stay with me for a very long time. Thank you for sharing you little bit of paradise.

  • Such lovely hosts, gave us a proper tour of the area when driving back from the station and invited us in to show us some local routes. A very relaxing stay and well worth the money.

Whispering Willow is a beautiful 57ft narrowboat moored in the New Islington marina. The marina is an idyllic spot that's home to a lovely community of boaters and wildlife, just a stones throw from the city centre and right alongside the trendy Northern Quarter. A truly unique experience which offers the comfort and style of a boutique hotel alongside the charm and character of a houseboat. You'll love our boat for its excellent location, cosy, quirky yet stylish interior - sheer comfort!
Our boat is beautifully designed and has recently been refurbished throughout with a stylish, folksy, nautical interior. The boat is warm, romantic and cosy all year round. There's a bedroom at the front of the boat with a king sized bed (and super comfy silentnight mattress) for you to spread out on. Open the doors on to the deck that overlooks the marina or snuggle up under the duvet. The bathroom has a power shower, toilet and wash basin. We provide fresh towels and toiletries to make your stay extra comfortable. There's a well equipped modern kitchen with oven, gas hob and fridge as well as a breakfast bar to sit at. The living area is at the back of the boat and has a super comfy sofa that folds down in to a small double bed. It also has a beautiful solid fuel stove and a high performance radiator which will keep you nice and toasty and provide extra romance and experience (we provide an easy guide on how to use the stove if you need / want to).
Ancoats is a great neighbourhood. It was recently listed by The Times' as one of the coolest places to live in the U.K! Its a vibrant, exciting place to visit and sits right alongside Manchesters Northern Quarter with its independent shops, fantastic bars, restaurants, coffee spots and music venues. I love to recommend my favourite places and will happily give you the low down and where to go and what to do if you'd like suggestions.
  • We did not want to leave this cozy boat. We both were impressed by how quiet it was being situated in the middle of a busy part of Manchester. Bed was so comfy. We were toasty warm. Shower took me a moment to figure out. Boyfriend laughed at me struggling. Luckily he knows boats and cabin life. Close to everything. Specifically for us it was close to Manchester Arena, nice walk to and from the concert. The neighbours were friendly. Loved the animal neighbours too. Dog, couple cats, swans, geese and even had a fox make an appearance. Sophie was very thorough with instructions for the boat house and suggestions for things to do in Manchester. Checking in was headache free. Checking out even easier. Have to thank Hazel for that too. Next time we’re in Manchester we will for sure book again.

    Heather2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sophie’s place is unique and beautiful. A perfect destination for someone who is looking for something out of the ordinary and wanting to completely relax. The narrow boat Is stylish and homely, and we loved the fact it had a log burner. There is a couple of friendly cats that live nearby that are always more than happy to come greet you and say goodbye on arrival and departure. The narrowboat is close enough to local restaurants, cocktail bars & traditional pubs. It also has a beautiful bakery just around the corner and a local pharmacy. I would highly recommend this stay for best friends looking for new adventures like ourselves or even for a couple looking for a romantic get-away. Sophie herself was extremely helpful with quick responses and information on the local area; like where to eat and park etc. Thank you again for having us! x

    Fallon2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location and host, we had no issues whatsoever and Sophie quickly replied to any questions we had. The boat is super cozy and perfect for a quiet break.

  • Beautiful home, finished to the highest standards. We would definitely recommend and definitely stay again if in the area.

    Vaishali2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay in Central Manchester that makes you feel you are miles away from all the hustle and bustle but super handy for everything and with the best bakery in the North, Pollen, right on the doorstep. Ultra cosy with a very comfortable bed. Highly recommended

    David2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, unique and tranquil place to stay. Close to great restaurants and shopping. Really edgy area (in that good wat)

    Camilla2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sophie's house boat is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed! We stayed on an especially cold night and I must say the boat stayed super cosy! We loved the coal fire, the whole boat is massively esthetically pleasing and so cute and it's such a pleasure to stay there! Everything was sparkling clean when we arrived. Didn't want to come home! Huge thank you for having us!

    Tara2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, perfect for someone wanting to get away from hustle and bustle as the area is quiet and relaxing. Only other thing I would have liked is a little radio, I think maybe there was one but I didn’t find it but overall a perfect first time with Airbnb and great host who was very accommodating, will definitely recommend and most likely stay here again 😁 xx

Nestled high in the beautiful Saddleworth hills, enjoy a taste of Tiny House living in a peaceful woodland setting all to yourself. If you’re looking for a bolt-hole, this is it! Although rural, the cabin is nearby to the picturesque villages of Uppermill, Diggle, Dobcross and Delph, all with essential amenities and transport links with the Peak District and Pennine hills on our doorstep. For singles, couples or young families (one child under 12yrs).
Welcome! UPDATE: I’ve taken the precaution to close the cabin to all guests due to the current coronavirus situation. I will be monitoring this as time goes on and will update upcoming guests in April and May nearer to the time of their stay. UPDATE: Cleanliness and hygiene has always been a priority for all of our guests but in light of the current coronavirus situation, I’ve taken the extra precautions to deep clean between each booking. This means an extra hour to ensure every inch of the cabin is disinfected and sterile for your safety. Therefore check in is now from 3pm. I’d also like to reassure guests that at the cabin you are isolated from other people and can self-check in so that you don’t meet the host if you prefer. Also please note that the cabin has been fully redecorated and has a brand new luxury bed and Eve hybrid mattress. Updated photos to follow! Please read the listing description throughly before booking or enquiring. *The cabin has a minimum two night stay* We have a lovely and unique tiny house experience but it may not be for everyone! Please ask if unsure, I’m very happy to help. The cabin has all the facilities to make you feel comfortable and perfectly at home. A perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature and a peaceful place to relax and unwind in a secluded and private woodland setting. You will have total privacy and seclusion at the cabin. Within 30 acres of privately owned land, it is a real retreat from the general noise and stresses of everyday life. You might just have the best night’s sleep you’ve ever had! The cabin's living/ bedroom has a large comfortable double sofa bed and ensuite with double shower. All linens, towels, gowns and slippers are included for your use. The kitchen/dining area has a breakfast bar, toaster, mini-fridge, microwave, kettle, tea/coffee/sugar/sweeteners etc. Cafetière, teapot, pizza plate, knife set, chopping board, cutlery, bottle opener, cheese slicer, microwave, omelette maker and egg boiler. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO COOKER OR HOB. To cook is a microwave or bbq. Smart TV with some analogue channels and also tons of DVDs for your use. PLEASE NOTE - we’ve given up on WiFi for moment as it’s so unreliable. Why not log out for a while and enjoy real HD life in the countryside:) Help yourself to enjoy a wide selection of card and board games or books to read. With some of your favourite tunes on the Bluetooth speaker, cuddle up with a hot chocolate or glass of wine and enjoy a restful, cosy, lazy time in the woods. There is also a Weber bbq, log burning Chiminea and seating on the outdoor deck area overlooking a stunning view of the valley. There are wild pheasants, partridges, hares, rabbits, squirrels, badgers, hedgehogs, wood pigeons, kestrels, Kites, Sparrow Hawks and owls who live and forage in the woods and surrounding areas. We also have our own flock of chickens and ducks who may join you for some breakfast entertainment;) During the Spring we hatch and raise new ducklings and chicks to keep things fun, guests are most welcome to meet them when they hatch. We also have sheep and our own horses in adjacent fields . Feel free to give them a pat but please DO NOT feed the horses as they are on a special diet. Also we ask guests not to enter the field with the horses. They are large animals so youngsters should be supervised by an adult at all times.
Located in a tiny and beautiful rural hamlet high in the Saddleworth hills. We are perfectly situated on the Pennine bridleway for cyclists, walkers and horse riders - a very popular choice for those travelling this amazing route. There are two delightful local pubs only 10- 15 mins walk away, serving great pub grub and local ales. Comfortable seating, roaring fires and beer gardens. Proper Yorkshire hospitality! Its about a 25 min walk to Uppermill ( the largest village in Saddleworth). A lively village with lots of boutiques, gift shops, cafes, wine bars, pubs, restaurants and a great tourist information centre at the Saddleworth museum. To Diggle, it’s a 15-20 min walk down the hill to the village. Great ice-cream at Grandpa Greenes and lovely canal walks to Uppermill. There is a Tesco supermarket 10 mins drive away in Greenfield.
  • Our stay at Nic's tiny house was beyond amazing. Check in was a breeze with effective communication. The house was spectacularly clean and with perfect views. We particularly enjoyed the runner ducks over breakfast! Nic had impeccable knowledge of the local area. Highly recommend the pots and pans walk! Although a little breezy. The tiny house has all the little amenities one needs for a quiet getaway. There are plenty of board and card games available. We spent hours playing chess and looking over the view. Don't hesitate to book this perfect getaway, hopefully we will be back one day.

    Danielle2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little cabin. We had a really relaxing time. There is loads to do nearby and pubs within walking distance. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

    Sarah2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nic was a great host, responds quickly and you can tell is such a nice genuine person. The accommodation it self was so special and such a great find. We didnt have the best weather but I think that made it even more special hearing the rain and wind but staying super cosy in the hut, absolutely brilliant. The views are pretty spectacular and fully recommend sitting with a cup of tea just looking out in the morning. We went to many of the places Nic suggests and all were lovely, great area for a couple of drinks and taxis easy to get as well. The peasant woke us up in the morning which I loved especially the nosey chickens and ducks.

There was complete and utter privacy and would definitely recommend! Thank you for the suggestions of the local hotspots and the lovely breakfast. P.S thank you for helping us tow our car 😂

  • What a great place to stay over night while we stopped in Manchester for a concert! The room itself has such beautiful interior design. Such a luxurious, new and clean feel and such a cheap price. We arrived at the same time as another guest staying - we parked in the driveway and they parked on the road side. I can’t fault anything - the room smelt divine, the space was clean, the en-suite was great as well, bed very comfortable. Our Uber into town was approx £5 which is super cheap. Only thing is that we wish we could’ve stayed longer. Thanks for the great stay.

Or down to your right towards Central Square (with relaxed outside dining) and the train station.. ideal people-watching day or night. Soak up the atmosphere and have a coffee in the morning or glass or two before your evening out. Other balconies are off the kitchen and both bedrooms, so you feel totally immersed in city centre living. Sleeps 6 comfortably in 2 beds (one huge Superking Master bedroom with ensuite and one double with separate bathroom) and a sofabed, and for an extra seventh guest I can provide suitable bedding for the large, comfy sofa - ideal for a squeeze without taking floor space up in the lounge. The sofabed and sofa are charged at only £25 per person per night. The huge Hollywood-style Master bedroom has white cotton bedlinen which shrouds a 'marshmallow-soft bed' (as one guest described them) and has a spacious ensuite (walk-in shower and bath too) with plentiful warm white towels & essential toiletries. The ample Double bedroom is coupled with its separate full bathroom, and the elevated first floor view overlooks the city lights of Park Row. The spacious Lounge offers telly (Freeview & Netflix too) or just simple chilled views from the comfy L-shaped chenille sofa, and flows through to a fully equipped kitchen with a coffee machine, crockery/glassware/pots&pans if you need them. And a dishwasher for afterwards. Just load it up and leave ! Let me know if you need anything else that would enhance your stay. No hanging around waiting for the host for keys - I message you a code. Easy ! I don't insist on a minimum stay, and offer added flexibility of dropping/leaving your luggage to help with your plans. It all makes this AirBnB experience so pleasurable. On that note: respectable stays only please ! (no parties/'gatherings' or loud music etc - if you're a group and have no reviews I hope you understand when I ask for a deposit).
Shop at Harvey Nichols and other boutiques in nearby Briggate, with the university and train station also an easy walk away. See live shows at nearby theatres, and at the Arena/O2 Academy. Have breakfast in one of the many boutique cafes close by.

  • This apartment is beautiful, and full of all essentials and excellently located for all, we had 4 beautiful balcony’s, and 2 very good size bedroom with 2 Bathrooms, it’s very spacious and has a very light open feel to the apartment and I would like to also say the pictures do justice but not 100% once you walk in you’ll see why, it’s so much bigger and and grand ! I would definitely recommend staying here and we will definitely return when staying in Leeds. *****

  • Jill is an amazing host with a property to match. The cottage has everything you need inside it, and it is located on a private and peaceful plot of land. You can park your car right outside the door, and it has a nice big garden for dogs to play in. The cottage is immaculate and we loved the little surprise treats Jill left for us on our arrival including the dog biscuits for our dogs Coco and Lucky. We had a lovely few days staying at this property and would recommend it. There are plenty of places to eat near by, and we enjoyed visiting Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. Thank you Jill!x

    Clare2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a real gem! Lovely welcome touches like treats for the dog, milk and tea bags as well as chocolate for us. Nice decor with everything you need and no fussy clutter. Great setting. Wonderful walks. The alma inn was great and welcomed the dog. Hosts on hand if you need them but totally respected our privacy too. I would highly recommend this place and would like to return when the weather is brighter.

    Tracey2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage offers a great base for visiting local areas. All spotless and modern amenities close enough to hosts but private too.

    Margret2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • I had the most wonderful stay. It was perfect for my study break and would be just as great for a break away. I will definitely stay again. Thank you!

  • Jill and Matts place was amazing. Everything from the location to the communication was 5 stars. We booked a last minute weekend away to explore the area with the dog. And it didn’t disappoint. Jill and Matt were so thoughtful, messaging exact directions, leaving us a welcome gift and even leaving the dog some treats and her own towel. The cottage was spotless, it had everything you could possibly need and more. Jill and Matt were both available on the phone should we need anything. We would 100% recommended this place. So much so, we’re going to book again in a few weeks and my parents are looking at staying too, thank you so much to both of you. Ricky, Rebecca and Cleo xx

  • Lovely , cosy little cottage in an idyllic location. There are some beautiful walks in the surrounding area....perfect for dogs!! There are some lovely touches with Jill providing all the essentials that you need in the cottage such as tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and everything needed to cook. Some really useful tips on the local area and good internet and TV......we will return and I highly recommend

    Andy And Rachel2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very helpful host from the start of the booking to the departure, even allowing us an extra hour to check out. All the little things that you normally have to take away with you for a weekend were supplied ie cooking oil, kitchen towel, toilet roll, hand soap, towels and even a towel for the dog (although I took my own as never imagined these would be provided). A welcome pack which we devoured, this included milk, chocolate, cakes, sweets and biscuits for the dog. The cosy cottage was spotlessly clean, it felt as though we were the first people to stay in a newly renovated place, even though we were not! Very impressed and would highly recommend. Excellent value for money.

    Joanne2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is perfect for a small family like ours (with a toddler and a 4-year old). The space is super clean, cosy and child friendly. Kitchen has everything one needs for a short stay and more. We particularly enjoyed the stunning walks and local pub. Having the tv in the lounge helped us relax with the little ones at night after long days out. The location is perfect for both urban and countryside experiences. We couldn’t recommend this place more. Jill is a fantastic host.

In early September the area hosts the Rush Bearing Festival and the Norland Scarecrow Hunt - information on these can be found in the information folder or the websites.

  • Absolute fantastic place to stay, couldn’t have asked for more. Beautiful views, fresh eggs and a baby lamb to watch out of the kitchen window 🥰🥰 The barn is new and modern, beds and linen beautiful, I wish we had stayed longer.

  • The barn is a home away from home, it has everything you need! Great value for money and in a great location for a little break away! Some lovely places around to go walking or for some food but the barn also has great facilities if you want to just stay in play games and cook. The views are incredible and can’t forget to mention how cute the animals are especially Sue’s dog! Highly recommend x

    Rachel2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is very stylish, sparkling clean and nicely decorated - modern yet homely. It had everything we needed for our stay, and the fresh eggs were a lovely touch. The barn's location is excellent; you have enough privacy but you're not completely isolated. The local village is a 5 minute drive away with plenty of shops should you need something. Communicating with Susan was straight-forward and easy. There were plenty of recommendations for local attractions/experiences which were very much appreciated. The barn really completed our escape from the city life, and we would definitely recommend staying here - it's great value for money too. Thanks again Susan!

Tyas Cottage is located in a small hamlet within an idyllic local beauty spot on the site of the first water-powered mill in the Colne Valley, near Slaithwaite and 7 miles from Huddersfield. Tyas Cottage is south facing within the sheltered, wooded valley, Merrydale, and at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac. Tyas Lane is an ancient, cobbled pack-horse route and, apart from the sound of falling water, the property is quiet and rural. Please note that, due to the pandemic we now have a "deep clean" (to government guidance for employers) between bookings and a more flexible cancellation policy. This property is ideal for people wishing to self-isolate.
Our guests seem to particularly enjoy the quiet, secluded, rural location. They often walk up through the woods on the ancient packhorse route that leads to the Rose and Crown with its delicious beer (it is not suitable for the old and infirm).  Also much commented on is our steep, narrow, cobbled access lane. We are happy to ferry guests up and down the hill when there might be snow or ice on the road, but even large ambulances are able to get up and down in normal weather. The cottage is furnished with very special antique furniture, much of it brought over from South Africa. This includes a hand-carved Georgian mahogany 4 poster bed. The gardens contain several sculptural features. The metal pods that hang from a tree next to the millpond are very well used. There is a charging point for electric cars.
Slaithwaite is a vibrant village and definitely "on the up". It is a lovely walk down Merrydale to Slaithwaite (about 25 minutes). The seat of the industrial revolution, the topography of this district is very varied with its tight little valleys in between vast heather-clad moorland. There are loads of varied and interesting walks in the area. Tunnel End could be a destination if one were to walk along the canal from Slaithwaite to Marsden. The Pennine Way is quite near to Tyas Cottage.
  • Tyas cottage is a lovely stay for those who like to walk due to its settings ... Down quite a steep country lane past sign saying road is not passable to vehicles, don't be put off and continue down the lane...

    Anna2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Haven of tranquility just 5-10 minutes off the M62

    David2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful two night stay at Tyas Cottage to visit a friend in Slaithwaite. The cottage is comfortable and full of character. We had a lovely meal at Devour in Holmfirth - highly recommended. I’m sure we’ll be back.

    Jodie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The most stunning location and such a beautiful cottage, located a little off the beaten track - which was what we wanted. A little treacherous in wet weather but no complaints from us. Victoria was next door to hand if there was a problem, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place.

    Maria2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Tyas cottage was really great. The interior is well thought of and has a uique style that we really enjoyed. The house is very well equipped ans the rooms are big and nice.if you like it a little bit rural and quiet this cottage is perfect for you.

    Dorena2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tyas Cottage is beautiful, restful, comfortable and the flowers from the garden a lovely touch. The garden itself is stunning, we wished we could just spend a day there.

    Jane B2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • A stunning location and a well-furnished property. The hosts were very pleasant and welcoming and the house is immaculate. There are lots of local walks or you can just relax in the lovely garden. The beds are very comfortable too!

    Rebecca2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • What can be said other 5 STARS. We absolutely loved our stay at Tyas Cottage. It was everything we could have wished for and more. Victoria (the host) answered many questions prior to our visit and even spoke to me before we planned our trip to the UK from Texas. I was a little worried than the 9-seater van we had hired would not fit down the lane since I had read in the description that the lane was narrow and steep. There was nothing to worry about at all and our 9-seater Hyundai van easily navigated down the road to the cottage. Victoria was not only great in terms of communication prior to the visit but also met us when we arrived and gave us a great overview of the area and everything we needed to know about the cottage. With a 2 week stay we really wanted to know that we had chosen the right place for the vacation. We were super happy with our choice and it could not have been a better stay. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and in such an idyllic setting. Our 4 children were in heaven exploring the secret garden and tithe surrounding areas. It was so peaceful and yet also so close to all the things you need. A local grocery store within 5-10 minutes drive and with access to the M62 only 10 minutes away we were so well positioned to visit Manchester, Leeds and beyond. Everything we needed on a long trip away from home was there. We missed Tyas Cottage as soon as had to leave. If we could rate more than 5 stars we would. We highly recommend!

Self catering apartments located in Ripponden, just outside of Sowerby Bridge / Halifax. A beautiful country village, great for walks. Close to the motorway at Jn22 M62. Adjoining a quiet country pub The Butchers Arms. Large free car park, free WiFi, each apartment has en suit shower and toilet, living room with sofa and tv, and fully equipped kitchen. - Dogs are welcome at a small extra charge. -
Each apartment is different holding onto as much character as possible when they were built out of the old listed building. Still leaving a little traditional pub on the end of the building.
The Butchers Arms is just outside the village of Ripponden. It is a little village of local shops, florist, gift shop, interior design, estate agents and a co-op with take away shops like fish and chips, Indian and many places to eat including Tapas. Out of the village you get into the beautiful country side walking round the local reservoirs or onto the moors.
  • Great place was a little cold when we arrived but soon warmed up with the electric heaters, great location for walks, my only criticism is shame there wasn’t any milk, and only 2 T bags.

A variety of pubs (including a 700 year old one on a cobbled bridge) that serve traditional pub menus, several cosy restaurants, a deli, a great traditional british cafe, an ice-cream parlour, a pizza place and fish'n'chips - all within strolling distance. • Michael's apartment was very comfortable and clean, really warm and cosy on a cold winter Yorkshire weekend! Great amenities and very central location for Ripponden. Michael is easy to communicate with and was waiting at the property when I arrived, a very thoughtful host, there was fresh bread, milk, eggs, biscuits as well as the usual teas and coffee. The bed was comfortable with nice cotton bedding too.

    Zoe2020-01-13T00:00:00Z

  • This was my second stay at Michael’s place and my expectations were exceeded yet again. The apartment itself in heart of the lovely little village of Ripponden, is very comfortable, clean and warm. But what makes this 5 stars all round is Michael’s hospitality and his attention to detail. I arrived late so self check in was no problem. In arriving late, I got settled and suddenly felt like a cup of tea. But I had forgotten to bring my tea bags! No problem... in the cupboard there are tea bags. But I didn’t pick up any milk! No problem... in the fridge there is fresh milk. Ooh, I could really go a biscuit with my tea but I didn’t bring any. No problem! There’s a pack of biscuits. But what about breakfast?? No problem... there’s cereal in the cupboard, bread on the worktop, butter and jam in the fridge, eggs too... you get the idea! Michael has thought of everything! I recommend staying here if you want something really comfy, that is great value for money, in pleasant surroundings and with easy access to major towns and cities.

*Set in beautiful countryside, away from it all * Stay away from crowds, walk quiet country pathways * Online shopping delivery from most supermarkets * Stringent cleaning standards *Converted barn with spacious open plan living area *Table tennis room, games, books *Sleeps maximum 4 + 1 infant (<2 in wooden cot) *2 spacious en-suite bedrooms *Large private garden with far reaching views *We welcome families! *Great walking/cycling from the door *SORRY, WE DO NOT ACCEPT DOGS / PETS.
*Crabtree Barn is a converted Victorian barn which has an upside down arrangement of living area on the first floor designed to take in the far reaching views and downstairs there are 2 en-suite bedrooms. *The living area is very spacious, it's open to the roof with an apex height of over 8 metres with the original barn beams running across the room. With velux windows in the ceiling and windows on three sides, it's a really light and airy space and incorporates the original barn archway entrance in the design. *The spacious accommodation is set over 3 floors with a total of 120 square meters making up the living and bedroom area and also a basement garden /utility room which is a useful second socialising area with full size table tennis table and a washer and dryer for your laundry. * There is a large private garden for your sole use which is not overlooked by other properties with a terrace and table/chairs. *The barn is an ideal base for walking, cycling and birdwatching (near to Marsden Moor RSPB reserve) straight from the doorstep and well placed to visit areas such as York, Leeds and Manchester. *Parking for 2 cars only on the drive (sorry we can't accommodate caravans /motorhomes due to the rural lanes).
*Crabtree Barn is situated in the hills of Pennine Yorkshire. The neighbourhood is rural and very friendly. *Ideally set for visiting film locations for Gentleman Jack, Last Tango in Halifax, Happy Valley, Last of the Summer Wine and also Bronte Country... Screenplay BAFTA nominated writer Sally Wainwright was born and grew up just 3 miles away from the barn and chooses her home area to film. * Wildlife seen from the barn includes deer and rare birds including kestrels, curlews, buzzards and greater spotted woodpeckers. Plus lots of sheep, cows, horses, pigs and donkeys nearby too! *However although our area is full of wildlife, you can easily access a wide number of nearby towns and cities.. Halifax and Huddersfield are our nearby town with Leeds and Manchester just over 30 minutes away via the M62 motorway. Due to the good motorway roads network, day trips to York, Harrogate and the coast are easily possible. *Even better, within just 5 miles of the barn are over 15 good restaurants and country pubs to eat out. We can email a guide in advance for you to book tables if needed.
  • Beautiful home and very spacious. Quiet location but close to all amenities so very convenient. Wayne is a very thoughtful host. Prompt communication and he had the cot and high chair all set up for us before we arrived which was great! Having milk, tea and coffee available was fab too. Highly recommend Crabtree Barn for families.

  • This property is beautiful. It's in a difficult location but don't let that put you off. Wayne was great at contacting us with all the information we needed. It's stylish and comfortable and extremely cozy and warm. Couldn't recommend enough.

  • Wow, what can we say about the space that Rachel and Wayne have created at Crabtree Barn. My family such an amazingly relaxing stay there stay there in front of the fireplace in a beautiful living area with stunning English countryside views. Would have given 7/5 stars in every category if Airbnb would allow it. Super hosts is an understatement here, couldn’t have done more to make our stay more relaxed and comfortable. Thank you so much! Peta, Ryan and Lexi.

    Matt2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! The energy of the space couldn't be better and the view is spectacular! Inside and out is so peaceful, lots of sheep, horses and chickens with rolling hills and trees, simply beautiful! . The winding, narrow lane down to this beauty was breathtaking although a bit scary at first. By the end of the week though I was loving the drive and could have stayed much longer. The Barn is located in the peaceful countryside which is what we wanted, having said that it was a bit of a drive to get to places we wanted to visit. The hosts were both fabulous, so helpful, they went out of their way to help make our stay in their area great. If you're looking to unwind and ground yourself this is the place for you!

  • This was a great place for our family holiday. The house is in a stunning rural location, and had all the facilities we required for our baby, and 4 year old. Wayne also very kindly provided a useful guide that gave us valuable information on things to do, places to eat, etc for the local area. Would certainly recommend staying here.

    Gordon2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Crabtree Barn. Wayne was very welcoming and touches such as the toy box, stair gate and cot really made our lives easier. The accommodation was spacious, very clean with beautiful county views. Wayne provided lots of helpful local information and was close by if we needed anything. I would recommend Crabtree Barn, we hope to return in the future.

This is a 'granny flat' located on the ground floor of a family house. It is completely separate from the rest of the house, although it is on the same central heating system. It's got everything you would want for a short or even long stay, with a kitchen and dining space and comfortable seating area. The space is perfect for short or long stays. This is a lovely quiet neighbourhood, it feels like a village on the outskirts of Halifax. We look out over the valley, and are on the edge of lovely woods. We're very close to the iconic Wainhouse Tower and are surrounded by lovely countryside and parks. There is a Tesco within a few minutes walk, and lots of good places to eat and drink nearby, including the wonderful Big 6 pub. If you want ideas about places to eat please ask us. The Tower House Hotel is a very short walk away - handy if you are attending a wedding or event there but don't want to stay at the hotel.
  • Staying at Anne and John's place was so relaxing! I had an entire flat to myself which was brilliant because I needed to get a lot of work done. Anne and John are super kind. They left me to myself but were always available to answer any questions I had. They know loads about the area and are always up for a nice chat. Anne even agreed to let me use her washing machine because I was going to travel on after check-out, which is amazing, not everybody is OK with that. The view is amazing, you can see the entire valley and Sowerby Bridge at the foot of the hill. And the bed was the most comfortable one I've ever slept in. Definite recommendation from me, if you come to Halifax or Sowerby Bridge, stay with Anne, you'll be well looked after.

  • Stayed as a family for a weekend away. The lodge is amazing. The hosts were fantastic and really helpful and friendly. The lodge is as pictured - clean very spacious and really modern. The views were amazing and in a really quiet place which is what we wanted. Hosts left biscuits and wine which I thought were a great welcome thought. Everything needed was there - from shower gels, bath soak to a well stocked Tassimo machine in the kitchen. Kids loved the park and the Alexa speaker. I use Air B&B quite a bit and can definitely recommend this to anyone - you won’t be disappointed - probably the nicest lodge I have stayed in so far. Whilst you’ll need a car to get out and about the local Pub the Alma Inn is walking distance on a summers day. We used the car to eat in the Beehive which was nice food and good portions for the kids too. Local walks within a short drive and a few reservoirs. Thank you Ian and Anne we will definitely be returning customers. Steve / Deb and kids.

  • lovely stay in a lovely lodge with lovely hosts!! great modern/functional and spacious holiday home.. set within an amazingly beautiful landscape. super friendly and helpful hosts who were on hand if needed but who also left a myriad of thoughtful things scattered throughout the home (biscuits on arrival pacified the children.. and my aching bones appreciated the radox bubble bath followed by the wine!) kids loved the swings (and their first experience of demanding that Alexa fulfil their almost every whim 🤣) and everyone had a lovely stay..

Set in the steep and stunning Luddenden Valley within 13 hectares of beautiful Calderdale countryside, Jerusalem Farm Barn is a barn conversion set close to Jerusalem Farm Campsite and is surrounded by a landscape of woodland valleys and high moorland plateaux. With a welcoming atmosphere and accessibility-friendly facilities, Jerusalem Farm Barn is a perfect place to enjoy the local nature reserve, which provides a safe haven for woodland birds, woodpeckers, herons and deer.
Jerusalem Farm Barn was created with people with accessibility needs in mind. The barn is fully accessible for wheelchair users and has facilities including a hoist which runs from the bedroom to fully accessible en suite bathroom and profiling bed . With its own extensive network of footpaths, Jerusalem Farm Barn also makes an ideal base from which to access the wider countryside, which is largely protected for its breeding bird population and can be easily accessed by foot or push bike through an extensive and well marked network of public rights of way. The camp site and the spacious grassy areas below the barn are also accessible by wheelchair. Situated between Halifax and Hebden Bridge, the site is perfect for exploring the surrounding South Pennines, an area rich in both natural and industrial archaeology. The mill towns of Sowerby Bridge and Mytholmroyd (the birthplace of former Poet Laureate Ted Hughes) are nearby, with Hebden Bridge particularly good for day trips, with cafés, galleries and a grand old picture house. Haworth, home of the Brontës, is just a few miles over the moors. "Eureka!", The National Children’s Museum in Halifax (for big and little kids) can be reached in around 20 minutes as can the Grade I listed Piece Hall. The green oasis of Shibden Estate with its park and hall, soon to be seen on TV in the BBC/HBO drama Gentleman Jack. Jerusalem Farm is owned and operated by Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council
Jerusalem Farm is set in the picturesque Luddenden Valley. This community is dominated by small cottages and farms, and has a extensive network of footpaths which included the nationally recognised trails The Calderdale Way and Pennine Way. Two small villages can be located in the Luddenden Valley. Luddenden with Grade II listed Lord Nelson Pub, once regularly frequented by the famous Branwell Bronte, and Midgley which its community run local shop.
  • This is great if you want to get away from it all. Having no phone signal was a bonus as we all talked to each other and played games. We enjoyed nature being literally on our doorstep. Any questions we had were answered very promptly. We are looking forward to returning in the future.

The Sanctuary flat is part of Westwood Christian Centre, a 19th century church converted into flats.
Beautiful stained glass window, oak panelled ceiling; full central heating. Ideally for 1 -2 people but can take up to 3 (1 double bed settee, 1 single chair futon). Large studio flat on 3 levels within original Sanctuary of Westwood. - kitchen and dining area; main living area & upper level; separate bathroom (with a bath).
We're set in a lovely little community up on a hill, overlooking the village of Slaithwaite.
  • This was the perfect place for a tranquil weekend. Great location, value for money, and has everything you need. The kitchen is simple but had everything necessary to cook all my meals. There were no spices/seasoning so remember to bring your own. I couldn’t find a chopping board or good knife - but I’m sure Nikki would have responded if I felt I needed these! The bed was big and very comfortable. Will be coming back again in the future!

  • What a unique and gorgeous place! Ellie was so lovely and made sure I had everything I needed. The place was super clean and I particularly loved the small pantry available for everyone with things like milk (including dairy free!) , chocolate, toothbrushes and toothpaste available.

  • I highly recommend this place. Everything was exactly as described, including the wonderful views and scenery! Checking in was very straightforward, and the room is large, warm and very clean. I cooked all my meals there and found everything that I needed. It was exactly what I wanted for a restful weekend. Thank you Ellie.

Enjoy time away in my beautiful large peaceful attic bedroom. The room is light and south facing with fantastic views over Hebden Bridge. Just a few minutes walk into town or woods. Tea and coffee making in your room. En suite wc and sink. Longer stays welcome. If you are using instant book please tell me a bit about yourself at the same time and the reason for your visit.
I live in a beautiful Victorian terraced house on a quiet street with easy access to town and country. My house is spacious, welcoming and well equipped and you will feel at home when you are here. Also the room is beautiful and private and the views are spectacular.
Hebden Bridge needs no introduction! I live here not only because of its physical beauty but also because of its culture, people and access to nature. The woods are literally five minutes walk from my house but it's also only 10 minutes to walk into town and experience life there. Plenty to do during the day and evening: cafes, theatre, wine bars, cinema, fair trade shopping, pop up arts events; festivals ; Trades Club. Or just sit by the river and enjoy the water and the people who pass by. Great food for vegetarians, vegans and carnivores both here and in our neighbouring town of Todmorden.
  • Quiet and comfortable night in a lovely home. Highly recommend!

    Daniel2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really spacious room with a jaw-dropping view which has to be the best thing to wake up to. It was also warm and cosy which is important considering much of the week it was around freezing outside. Liz was thoughtful and considerate of my needs. This is lovely if you are looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet, and central to the town.

    Adele2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Unique opportunity to stay in famous style of double decker house, great view, stylish facilities, immaculate bathroom, aesthetically pleasing room. Liz is charming and helpful, generous to a fault.

  • Liz was a really kind host, full of great tips! The room is really lovely and the bed is very comfortable. Great location, just ten minutes walk to centre of Hebden Bridge, and glorious view from the bedroom. Would recommend, and would stay again.

A traditional weavers cottage in the hill top village of Midgley overlooking the Calder Valley. An ideal location for hill walking, fell running, cycling or just relaxing in a beautiful setting. A short walk away from Midgley Moor with it's historic standing stones and burial chambers, or a short distance from Hebden Bridge with it's independent shops, cafe's and restaurants. Ideal for a weekend away in a traditional Yorkshire Stone cottage with mullion windows. Well behaved dog welcome.
66 Towngate is a cosy cottage with underfloor heating downstairs. The house is practical and comfortable. The views are absolutely stunning and although the cottage is just below the moor, access to Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd is very good.
Midgley is a small hilltop village. The people are very friendly. You will meet the locals, dog walkers, mountainbikers and horse riders. The local shop is run by very helpful volunteers from the area. Next to the shop is the community room which is open at times for tea and cake or an evening talk or quizz.
  • We had a lovely stay in the cottage! A lovely place to stay and great value! Will definitely be back.

Kaya was also very kind to leave milk in the fridge. Walks in area, particularly up the back of the house / northwards are great: bring boots though!

A full list of local attractions is provided in the apartment.
  • Beautiful apartment which was perfect for our 3 day stay. Hilary was really friendly and provided us with all the local info, couldn't have asked for a better host. Will definitely be staying again sometime and I can't recommend this enough.

  • Hilary is very quick to respond and takes care to make sure you know where you're going and what there is to do nearby. Apartment is large and airy, warm and quiet. Very near several walking and driving routes which give awesome views over the valleys. Thoroughly recommended - if I'm staying in the area again, I will stay here if it's free!

Bridge End is a beautiful cottage situated in the heart of Ripponden. Within walking distance to all the local amenities and next door to one of the oldest pubs in Yorkshire; The Old Bridge Inn. It’s also the perfect starting point for a wide variety of countryside walks.
Bridge End is a charming and cosily furnished cottage located in the heart of the picturesque Yorkshire village of Ripponden. The house is a listed building that dates back to the mid 18th Century and can comfortably accommodate up to 5 people with 3 bedrooms, 2 modern bathrooms and one large lounge area, TV & WiFi. Hungry & thirsty travellers should also take advantage of visiting neighbouring pub (and local landmark) The Old Bridge Inn for it's fine selection of ales and hearty traditional food.
The Old Bridge Inn is situated at the other end of the pack horse bridge. It’s one of the oldest pubs around, with open fires and lovely food and wine. Stanley’s tea room is a 2 minute walk and does great breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas, worth a visit!

  • Elizabeth is a brilliant host. Really thoughtful and super speedy when replying to my messages. We stayed there the night before my wedding at the Fleece just up the road, highly recommend this to any other brides looking for somewhere to stay. The house is beautiful so we got some lovely bridal prep photos, and it is literally 2 minutes up the road on the day so no stressing about traffic etc. Thanks Elizabeth!

  • Pictures don’t do this place justice! Beautiful house with a lovely homely feel. Rooms good sizes, clean and modern bathrooms. Host gave us excellent check in and check out details and also home stocked with breakfast essentials which was greatly appreciated! Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

  • We recently travelled from Vancouver, Canada with our two year old daughter and 3 month old son to stay at Liz’s house for a week. After a long and exhausting travel day we were so happy to find that Liz’s house was even better than we imagined. It had everything we needed for an infant and toddler and we immediately felt at home there. The house was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Liz was very friendly and was quick to message me back if I had any questions. We can’t wait to spend time at Liz’s home during our next visit to the UK.

The Lookout is part of Westwood Christian Centre - a 19th century church building converted into beautiful self-contained flats. The moment you walk into The Lookout - after you have caught your breath from the incredible views over the Colne Valley -- you will notice the beautifully retained features of the church building. Spacious and high-ceilinged, the Lookout studio flat is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, or people needing to get away from it all.
The Lookout provides self-catering accommodation with a well-equipped kitchen. The main living & dining area features two beautiful clear glazed arched windows; lovely views to South West and North West and as well as central heating, there is a gas fireplace - which you are more than welcome to use. There is also access to a washer, dryer and iron in a separate utility room in the building which we can make available to you upon request. We have awe-inspiring landscapes on our doorstep, and we are nestled in the Pennine hills surrounded by rambling walks and stunning views. Located in Bolster Moor, you can discover what neighbouring Yorkshire villages (Golcar, Scapegoat Hill, Slaithwaite) have to offer. We intentionally don't have any televisions in the flats, however, we do have WiFi and 4G if you do need to catch up with the world.
We're set in a lovely little community up on a hill, overlooking the village of Slaithwaite.
  • We had an all round 5* stay here at Westwood. Even in the rain and storms The Lookout provided spectacular views of West Yorkshire and it was a warm, calm and spacious place to retreat to. Ellie was always on hand if we needed anything and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be back!

    Samantha2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for being such great hosts. The view was incredible and the layout and furnishings within the main space were also top notch. If I am ever over this way again, I would be delighted to stay here again.

    Emily2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful place. The kitchen is very well appointed and the flat is airy and spacious. Loved being ensconsed in a 19th century church, its structure being beautifully preserved. Old narrow roads made it somewhat challenging to navigate the short distance to town, but that comes with the territory. The hosts/wardens are wonderful, warm, and helpful.

    Marty2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic overnight stay here, the views are amazing. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

  • Superb place - lovely surroundings, good furnishings, spotlessly clean and great value for money. I met Jake on my arrival and he was really helpful and pointed out a few places to go in the local area. The location itself is great - amazing views and only a short drive to nice local town/shops. Incredibly peaceful atmosphere, and the quality of the apartment itself is great in both furnishings and cleanliness, especially when you consider the price. Would definitely come back, thank you.

    Cameron2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay once again. Such great value for money and that view is just so dreamy. ( the bed also heavenly) I will keep coming back!
