Places to stay in Stockton Springs
Luna Cottage, located on the West Branch of the Penobscot River on Verona Island, offers a serene get-a-way while being only a short distance from some of Maine's best-known coastal towns & vacation destinations. Take day trips or just stay & relax! And, take a day to visit the lovely town of Bucksport, just across the river, which is in a renaissance after the closing of its paper mill. New businesses (art, cuisine, film) are developing along Main St. Maybe you'll even decide to live here!
Luna Cottage is a traditional New England cottage built in the 1930's with a spacious wrap-around porch. With recent updates, it is a cozy and comfortable space with a lovely furnished living room/dining area and a second floor bedroom that look down towards the river. A well-equipped modern kitchen, small first floor bedroom and bathroom with a shower complete the cottage space. Follow the path through the wildflower field to the river's edge, and, depending on the tide, relax with a book or walk the rocky beach. The Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory can be viewed from the beach. While we do have neighbors nearby (across the road and to the side, behind us), there is much privacy, and it is very quiet. Please note that we live in the cottage a week or so a month, so you will find indications of our living there: personal items in drawers, closets and bathroom, and a few staples in the refrigerator and cupboards. We also have a small dog and a cat, who come along with us when we stay at the cottage. There is a combination washer-dryer that you are welcome to use for very small loads of laundry. Please only use the washer without the dryer since the dryer is unreliable. (And before using, please review directions for its use.) In the small bedroom closet you will find a folding bamboo drying rack. .
Located on a dead-end road, Luna Cottage is nestled in a friendly (but not at all intrusive) little neighborhood. Several other cottages can be seen along the drive leading to our cottage. It is safe, private, out-of-the-way, but easily accessed and conveniently located.
  • Quiet, easy to find location to explore mid-coast ME. Comfortable bed and stocked kitchen. Great low season value.

  • The stay and views were perfect! The fireplace was a wonderful touch.

  • This home is small but has everything you need. Was a great place to come back to and relax after a long day spent in the outdoors.

  • Sally’s home was exactly what we were looking for to spend our first anniversary. The home was super cozy, the location was peaceful and quiet. We had great weather to explore some beautiful hikes in Acadia which is about an hour away from Luna Cottage. We would definitely come back here again!

    Lisa2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. Gorgeous spot and view! Easy access to Acadia!

    Stacey2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Luna Cottage. Sally was on top of communication, gave clear directions, and was super thoughtful—she had a whole binder waiting full of local articles and attractions. The cottage was cozy and comfortable, and the view of the river is gorgeous!

    Erika2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house was amazingly clean and decorated nicely. The view out the front doors to the lake was beautiful.

    Judy2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was a bit tricky to find. Be careful on the stairway to the bedroom the steps are narrow. This cottage is cozy and has a lovely view of the Penobscot River.

  • We had a great stay at Nancy’s cottage. Check-in was easy, and Nancy was a great host and gave us several helpful tips on what to do in and around the area. The cottage itself is very cute and clean, with a view of the ocean (the beach is just a 2 min walk away). We hope to stay here again!

    Sameer2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is perfect. Location is perfect. It overlooks the ocean. It is so quiet and peaceful. Clean. has everything you could want. Nancy our hostess was so nice and helpful. When our stay was over we didn't want to leave.

    Pamela2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted to explore the coast of Maine and the cottage was the perfect home base for us. The view from the back deck where we ate breakfast every morning is breathtaking! We explored Acadia and Belfast, which were both easy to access from the cottage. We could have stayed much longer, there’s so much to do and explore whether you want to drive just 20 minutes or up to an hour and a half. Nancy is an excellent host. She’s quick to answer any questions or offer recommendations. The house is beautiful, clean and was ideal for us with our 1 year old.

    Kimberly2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage with views of the water. Access to water not quite as easy as we thought, but that was balanced by the cleanliness and appointments of the space. Warmly recommend.

    Preston2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • the space the space couldn't be more beautiful and the location more incredible. Sit in the chair with expansive lawn and the bay in front of you Nancy is a wonderful thoughtful host

  • Clean cottage with great view of the water, walking distance to coffee / pastry shop and small market. Loved our stay.

    Jeanne2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a special place, full of interesting decor, with lots of bird songs, and an ocean view. Nancy's hospitality and graciousness are to be commended. She provided lots of great suggestions at check-in for places to visit. Our dog especially loved lounging around on the large deck, and walking at nearby Sears Island. Nancy is a great host, and we had an amazing week.

    Clay2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a home away from home Nancy’s ocean front cottage is for you! Nancy is one of the nicest hosts we have ever had! Her hospitality and concern for our “having fun” was of her upmost importance. Her place was centrally located to all the stuff we wanted to see and Acadia was only a 1hr. And 30 min drive away. If you need a cozy place to stay while in Maine this place is your go to! Will definitely be coming back!

  • Gail was super friendly and helpful, the house was amazing -- an architectural gem just off the beaten path. It was perfect for our needs and we would definitely return!

    Joan2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gail’s home is beautiful and thoughtfully maintained. It’s conveniently located in a beautiful area between Portland and Bar Harbor and I would recommend Gail’s to anyone planning a trip to Maine. Gail’s property has beautiful views of the ocean and her fourth floor balcony is unique for the area. Gail was kind and accommodating and it was easy to arrange our stay. She had helpful recommendations for the area as well as for Acadia National Park. I would love to stay at Gail’s again during a future visit.

    Perry2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gail’s house is sooo nice and better than what I expected! Beautiful house and great view. Stayed one night but we hoped it’s more! Gail and her dog are so friendly and nice, gonna miss them.

    Ali2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gail's pagoda house is a beautiful, luxurious retreat home on a gorgeous property filled with peace and flowers. She is a host who graciously offers her home with many goodies to her guests. We had a wonderful stay and want to come back.

    Doug2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Loved out stay at Gail's place. The location is very private and peaceful. You have a nice little hiking trail through the woods to your own private beach. Also a nice spot to relax and watch the ocean close to the house. The dogs loved it and we were very happy we could bring them. Gail is a very nice host and took very good care of us.

    George2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Gail's place is unique - Her home is architecturally charming, surrounded by flowers and located in an idyllic locale by Penobscot Bay. We attended a wedding at French's Point and were a mere 14 minutes away. We brought our dog who had access to her first salt water dips. (Gail provided hose and dog towels for our use). Her special breakfast treats and advice on local hikes made the whole weekend a fun, care-free experience.

    Susan2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We would 100%recommend this home. Gail is wonderful and the accommodations were outstanding. Clean, beautiful and so very comfortable. Convenient to everything.

You will be welcomed into an elegant, historic home built in 1862 for a sea captain. The Italianate Victorian architecture features large, high ceilinged light-filled rooms with gas fireplaces, and original artwork by the artist host who has a studio on site. If you need two rooms for 1-3 additional people, please check— Artist’s Home—Double room+Breakfast may be available also for the same dates.
This is the place to stay if you value quality, comfort, and privacy, but also want to feel at home with friendly support and opportunities to connect with the local scene. We are very close to French’s Point, if you are attending a wedding there. If you are traveling alone (or a couple on a budget), please consider my other listing: “Solo Journey—Finding Inspiration on Your Own” On a quiet street just off Route 1, the location offers the perfect home base for exploring beautiful nearby mid-coast destinations, less than hour away: Bangor, Belfast, Camden, Rockport, Bar Harbor, Castine, Blue Hill, and Deer Isle.
The Hichborn is a great fine dining restaurants in Stockton Springs (reservations required). There are several oceanfront parks, a light house park with beach access (which is my favorite place), and hiking on Sears Island. Nearby Belfast is a very charming harbor town with lots of shopping and eating options. On the way to Belfast there are antique stores, flea markets and architectural salvage places. In Belfast you will find bakeries, farmers markets, restaurants, bookstores and breweries. Young’s Lobster Pound offers excellent lobster and seafood right on the water.
  • A beautiful immaculate 18 century home. Great host and very helpful with local knowledge. We enjoyed the 2-3 course gourmet breakfasts with great presentations. We hope to return next time we are in Maine.

    William2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to stay when looking for an exceptional Airbnb in Maine. Bill is a terrific host, so much so I made my second trip this year to his place. His house is beautifully decorated, especially with his art work and much more. This house is so warm and inviting that you feel right at home first step in. After a day of sightseeing there is a beautiful porch with stunning gardens to sit at and relax. Bill is very attentive to all needs a guest may have. I highly recommend this place.

    Susan2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • STAY HERE! William is a wonderful host. We had a lovely time: fabulous breakfast, gorgeous home, kind host, and beautiful art throughout. I felt so at home here. I have stayed in many Airbnb’s and this is extra special.

    Stacey2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • William is a warm host and provided a nice breakfast. The gardens and his artwork make the place visually pleasing. The highway is nearby, but it is quiet at night. Many interesting things to see in the area.

    Andrea2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend staying at William's (Bill's) home. It is wonderfully decorated with lots of Bill's artwork, which we appreciated very much. Bill is a very good host, attentive and mindful of your needs. The house is spotless and clean and a very bright and cheery place. Bill prepares a delightful breakfast and there are some nice restaurant in town and close by. The grounds are well kept and inviting. Thanks again, Bill.

    Rob2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Everything that you read about Bill’s place, all the reviews, it’s all true. I have a lot of experience with Airbnb and this is an exceptional house and an exceptional host.

    Suzanne2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • William was an excellent host and made me feel so welcome in his beautiful home! After an 8-hour drive up to Maine, I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing place to stay. Bonus: William makes a delicious breakfast for guests every morning. I will definitely be back!

Cozy, light-bathed bedroom in the renovated "back house" of an 1850s Maine farmhouse. A peaceful space for healthcare workers or others looking for a place to work or stay during the COVID 19 epidemic. We will keep the room empty for 3 days between guests during this time, and will increase our usual cleaning procedures to include sanitizing all frequently touched surfaces. The room has a private entrance - no need for any interaction with hosts. Dedicated guest parking for anytime access.
Newly remodeled space, including a private bathroom with rainfall shower. Cotton bedding and towels, down comforter, SUPER-comfortable mattress, new heat pump to keep you warm or cool (depending on the season), space heater for those extra cold winter days and nights, a closet and set of drawers. Tea, coffee, and a refrigerator provided in the room. This space is perfect for anyone looking for an affordable, private, clean, safe and comfortable alternative to a hotel room. It is ideal for those looking to spend a night on their way to or from Acadia National Park, traveling to the area for multi-day business trips, or using the room as a cozy crash pad from which to explore the Midcoast region. If you are looking for a space in which you can prepare meals, enjoy cocktails on a private patio, or be secluded in the Maine wilderness, our place probably doesn't fit the bill...but there are many other options in the area that would. Other details to note so there are no surprises: The room does not have a TV but does have Wi-Fi. There are a set of gravel and wooden steps leading up to the entrance from the private driveway...if you are not able to lift your suitcases this could be a problem, though we are happy to assist with luggage if we are home. Also, our house is much the same as it was in the 1850s but the town around it has grown and the road outside the home is well-traveled. The same location that makes our place a very convenient stop also means that the home is not super secluded....but most guests report a very restful stay nonetheless. Though best suited to two adults, small families with children who don't mind sleeping on the floor are welcome. Ample floor space for a couple of sleeping bags (not provided).
Waldo County has a thriving local foods movement - stop by the Belfast Co-op to check out their well-stocked shelves of local and natural foods, or visit one of our two wonderful farmers markets: the Belfast Farmer's Market (Fridays 9-1, year-round, outdoor in summer, indoor in winter) or the United Farmers Market of Maine (Saturdays 9-2, year-round, indoor). Take a walk along the Belfast Harbor Walk, check out the thriving downtown shops and art galleries, and end the evening with a seafood dinner outside on the deck at Young's Lobster Pound, overlooking lovely Penobscot Bay. (Heads up - Young's is BYOB!) Many other places of interest, both near and far - just ask!
  • Spacious and gracious and sparkling new (or it felt like it). A lovely retreat only 5 minutes to downtown. Highly recommended.

  • This spot is a gem! Excellent location, warm and inviting space, thoughtful touches. Leigh made it so easy to make a last second escape. Don’t look any further!

    Madi2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Leigh’s place was a great studio to stay in for the conference I attended. 5 minutes from the UMaine Hutchinson Center, very clean and warm, great hospitality. I nice place to stay in Belfast!

    Nathan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute, comfortable, and clean! We stayed just for a quick night as we were driving through. The space was restorative after a long day of driving!

    Asia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great stay!! Wonderful place to stay, private and familiar. We enjoyed so much spending time reading and relaxing while raining. Leigh and Dameon provided all the facilities, comfort and details to make or stay unforgettable. Thanks

    Caridad2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This space was a lovely spot and close to town. Checking in was easy and Leigh was quick to respond to questions. Thanks again!

    Neshamah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The back house was much better than we expected and wonderful in every way. It was comfortable, warm, really stylish, great coffee, comfy bed. It felt spacious and private but it was very close to Belfast. We relaxed and took advantage of her suggested restaurants which were excellent. The exterior of the main house gives no indication of the adorableness of the inside. Highly recommend and hope to stay there again.

    Megan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights here on a winter weekend getaway, and loved it! I would highly recommend it. The space is cozy and charming, with great amenities - the bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The Back House is a great value and offers easy access to Belfast, or other spots in the Midcoast or Downeast region.

  • This is a charming cottage with fantastic views!

    Karen2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Colcord Cottage was everything we expected it to be and more! The cottage presents exactly as the photos reflect. Clean, comfy accommodations with access to the water. We felt centrally located, so that we could visit all of the coastal towns in just a few days! What was even better, were the hosts Denise and Ernie! They were both very knowledgeable, helpful, and just plain gracious, great people. We really enjoyed our stay in Maine!!

    Jan2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful cottage with a fabulous 180 degree view of Penobscot Bay. The front of the owner's house is on route one in Searsport, but the cottage around the back is completely oriented toward the bay. My very favorite feature was the porch, where my sister and I had tea in the afternoon when we returned from our days' outings. Later we saw sunsets. We didn't have time in two days to use all the amenities, such as the hammock and the kayak, but all this and more is available. The decor is fresh, clean, and colorful, all in a modern seaside-cottage theme. Everything in the well-stocked kitchen looked new and coordinated. I was impressed that even the utensils in the drawer were color coordinated in aqua blues and greens. The living room had very comfortable furniture, especially the large chair with ottoman in one corner by the window, my favorite perch. As you can see in the photos, the main bedroom upstairs is gorgeous and has the view of the bay. Denise and her husband were most hospitable, meeting us on arrival and giving us a very thorough tour of the cottage and the premises, all the way down to the beach. I appreciated this personal touch.

    Deborah2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage well equipped to feel at home. There is also a kayak. You can do your grocery shopping on foot. Ernie and Denise are very hospitable. Place to recommend

    Ann2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was the second time that I stayed in the cottage, and I do not regret it! Denise & Ernie have carefully thought everything out, and I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s packed with everything you would need to make this place feel like home, and comes with a beautiful ocean view! They’re very good at answering any questions you might have, and they are some of the sweetest people I have ever met. This is for sure my go to place for when I visit Maine! It’s by far one of the most beautiful and one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed. I will be back!

    Hannah2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures are completely accurate. The place is wonderful with so many extra touches and extras that who real respect for your guests. You will be in want of nothing. Perfectly coordinate decor is very tasteful-- kind of fun beachy, kitschy chic-- but not clutter-y at all. Bed was very comfy-- there were more beds than I needed-- more than perfect as a place for me to work online.. so this place would would have been even more perfect if I had the whole family- def could easily sleep 6. The backyard and the view of the bay are hands-down spectacular. Kayak for guest use. Searsport is a small place, but had most everything you need including an amazing breakfast place. Belfast is only a 12-minute drive. Denise and Ernie are super friendly and helpful. Denise has thought of everything-- fully equipped kitchen with all the staples, and every drawer contains flashlights, binoculars, reading glasses, and Ernie and fix anything-- so this was the first AirBnb I have stayed at where something was not not malfunctioning.

    Leah2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful and relaxing. The beach is steps away and kept my family entertained for hours. My kids loved the hammock and playing soccer in the yard. The location is perfect. Several beautiful state parks are very close by and Acadia is about 45 minutes away. Searsport has a very nice grocery store and cafe within walking distance. The cottage’s kitchen is well stocked and the dining area can seat six. There are also many good restaurants nearby for those nights you don't want to cook. My family had a great week and we hope to come back soon.

Newly renovated rustic “boathouse”, only steps from Penobscot Bay. Perfect destination for day trips to Bar Harbor, Bangor, or staying right here! King bed, perfect for couples, private entrance, private bath, full kitchen.
Plenty of privacy as well as a fireplace, 55” Roku TV and new King.
Plenty of nature along with privacy to enjoy it. Very private. My UPS lady says it’s her favorite stop in Searsport!
  • Great place and an even better location. Simple, clean and no frills. Wonderful place to explore Maine.

    Woody2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible view from the king size bed. This place is fantastic for it's location and the layout is perfect for a couple. Very comfortable.

    Emma2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's boat house is absolutely adorable. Even better than the boat house is the setting. It is on such a private section of coastline! We truly didn't want to leave! Jim was friendly and accommodating! We will be visiting again!

    Kaitlynn2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The boathouse was so cool. The view of Penobscot Bay was amazing right from our bed. The place was clean and neat, it also had everything we needed to cook if we wanted to. Jim and Julia are amazing hosts. Great place!! Highly recommend!

    Jason2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the Boathouse/bed is unmatched!! As empty nesters this was our first vacation in 22 years without our kids, and it was wonderful. We felt like the whole beach was hours. Blackberries were in season within a few feet of the back door. Jim was a great host and made us feel welcome immediately. If you follow the directions carefully, it is easy to find the place. I loved the seclusion but appreciated that it was very close to a grocery store and gas station. We ate one night at Young's Lobster Pound just a few miles away and another night at Darby's in Belfast. Amazing food! Acadia was a beautiful one hour drive away--an easy day trip. And we chartered a sailboat in Camden, another lovely drive down the coast. The king size bed was comfortable. It was chilly the first night but warm under the covers. The TV is large and can easily be seen from the bed. The fireplace is beautiful as well. The bathroom is small but workable, and the kitchen and dining area are nice. We would definitely stay hear again.

Is art your thing? Plan a day trip to Deer Isle, Stonington, or Blue Hill to check out the impressive, local art scene. The Reversing Falls Sanctuary offers art openings and other events. Like music? World famous Kneisal Hall Music School in Blue Hill hosts fabulous classical concerts throughout the summer; Flash in the Pan Steel Drum Band plays at the Blue Hill town park most Monday evenings (overlooking Blue Hill harbor); check out the Stonington Opera House for their repertoire of all kinds of performances; live music Tues. nights at Methodist Church in Buck's Harbor; open mic at Tinderhearth. Are you a Foodie? Pick up your bread ( croissants, tarts, cookies, pizza and more!) at our local Tinderhearth Bakery, and your greens at the Brooksville Farmer's Market on Tuesdays just above Buck's Harbor Market. David's Folly Farm will sell you farm fresh meat and Buck's Harbor Market (5 minutes away) has just about everything else for dinner. O yes, and, of course, don't forget you can buy lobsters at Northern Bay Market, live or cooked and ready to go! Then, come back to Waterview Cottage and watch the sun as it sets over Smith Cove. And, great, local restaurants abound - see the local Weekly Packet for more info. There's so much more to do – play golf, tennis, visit pottery studios, enjoy raw oysters fresh from the local (and world famous) Bagaduce River Oyster Farm, go bird watching, or visit the pioneering “back-to-the-land" Good Life Center 7 miles away in Cape Rosier. Oh! I forgot to mention blueberry pie a la mode. You'll just have to come explore for yourself! Welcome!
We love the peace and quiet.

The cabin is close to art and culture, great water views, the beach - ocean, lakes, ponds.., family-friendly activities including hiking in Acadia on Waldo mountain... whale watching, antiquing, waterfront concerts..., and restaurants and dining or stopping in at a local lobster shack. You’ll love this space because it is unique. The comfy bed, the coziness, and the views of Mill Cove and the Harbor. The cabin is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
The cabin is cozy and comforting. Wake in the morning, grab a cup of coffee and head to the covered deck to watch the water and "be". Stockton Springs is conveniently located near Belfast (many unique shops and restaurants), driving distance to Acadia, a very short trek to the Penobscot Narrows Bridge with the tallest observation area on a bridge in the World. The bridge sits next to Fort Knox, which is open for tours and at various times of the year, ghost tours.
The cabin is located in Stockton Springs and sits on Mill Cove, which is your view. The water in Mill Cove meets the Penobscot Bay and then flows out to sea. As you look out across the Bay you will see the Stockton Harbor that is on Cape Jellison and to your right, the large green "peninsula" is actually Sears Island. If you are in a hiking mood, Sears Island has several trails. When the tide is out, you may see a few "clammers" in the cove!
  • Quant, calm & everything we expected! Sarah was a great host with so much to offer. We got to enjoy the mountains of Acadia not too far away and got to enjoy our quiet time alone in the cabin. Definitely recommend Sarah’s home for those who are looking for relaxation!

    Jessica2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah was excellent with communication and was very warm and welcoming and checking in with us at appropriate times, and with clear instructions. The cabin was beautifully decorated and very homely, and the location and view were top notch as well. Even more beautiful than the photos suggested! Sarah also had very thoughtful welcome gifts for us, what a great touch to make us feel welcome and at home! Would definitely stay here again next time I’m in Maine.

    Yi2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin on the water, with all the amenities of a full house. Perfect for a weekend getaway on the Maine coast. Also could tell that Sarah made an extra effort to make our visit a special experience.

    Kurt2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s cabin on the cove is a special spot. It’s clean, attractive, private and set in an ideal place to view the tides, sea birds and the night stars. Everything about our accommodations was easy and pleasant with special touches, like a refrigerator filled with a variety of treats. It was a great location for exploring up and down the coast, too. Although the cabin was so pleasant on its own, it was sometimes hard to decide to leave. We could have happily spent the whole weekend right there! It’s a favorite place. Great memories! We’d love to return someday.

    Sidney2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah was an awesome host. She was responsive and had many thoughtful touches . Check in was also very easy.

  • Sarah is the quintessential Airbnb host. The space is cozy and thoughtful - you can tell she takes the time to make each guest feel welcomed. I highly recommend her cabin for a lovely solo or couple’s retreat, or even a time with close friends.

  • Sarah’s cabin on the cove was a welcomed respite from our hectic lives. The peace and quite and the views were spectacular. We just loved every minute of our stay.

This cozy house is walking distance from downtown Belfast, the Belfast Rail Trail, and the Belfast Harbor. The house is a romantic nest for two or a crash pad for up to six. Live comfortably while gaining easy access to all the cool adventures Mid-Coast Maine offers. Please note this is a real older house in a real neighborhood. It is eco-friendly and I do not use pesticides. You may see harmless house spiders, birds and plants. If you are looking for a hotel experience, please stay in a hotel.
This lovely bungalow style house has a full kitchen with all the kitchen tools you need to cook using easily obtained local food. It has a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, full stove with oven, all pots, pans and dishes, and all silver and utensils you might need. The Belfast Co-op and two local farmer's markets are walking distance away. The sleeping arrangements offer great flexibility - there is a bedroom with a queen bed, another with twin bunk beds, and also a comfortable futon couch. There is also plenty of room in the yard to set up a tent if you prefer to enjoy the fresh ocean air flowing off the bay. The front porch provides a relaxing place to watch the sky and listen to the wind blow through the willow tree leaves. The house is heated and cooled with a heat pump which allows you to keep the space the perfect temperature at all times. There is a washer and dryer in the basement if you need to cycle some clothes during a longer stay.
The proximity this house provides you to downtown Belfast is awesome. You are only two minutes walking away from Waterfall Arts, an amazing local art center that hosts all kinds of classes for kids and adults, a gallery, lots of events and music, and a farmer's market. Another three minutes walking puts you in the heart of downtown Belfast, which is an amazing small town! Here are some of my favorites: Check out the Colonial Theater for the latest movies in a gorgeous art deco theater with three screens. There are lots of awesome restaurants (faves: Nautlius, Meanwhile in Belfast, Delvino's, Laan Xang, Chase's Daily, Darby's), local breweries/bars (Rollies, Three Tides, Front Street Pub), two delicious ice cream shops (The Chocolate Drop Candy Shop, Wild Cow Creamery), and so many cool stores (Coyote Moon, The Green Store, Colburn's Shoes, Justine, The Good Table, Eat More Cheese, Yo Momma's, Side Country Sports and Bike Shop - you can rent bikes there, and on and on). The Belfast area is chock full of outdoor activities: you can hike, bike, kayak, paddleboard, sail, walk, ski, skate - anything you want, we do it! There are local schooners at the Belfast harbor to book a sailing trip on (Timberwind, Amity), as well as places to rent bikes, kayaks and other gear (Side Country Sports, Water Walker, Ducktrap Kayak). Local trails and preserves include the Belfast Rail Trail, the Hills to the Sea trail, Stover Preserve, Bald Mountain (towards Camden), Head of Tide Preserve, Sears Island (near Searsport), Moose Point State Park, Camden Hill State Park, and so many more! And of course Belfast is a great jumping off place for the full range of what Maine offers: visit Islesboro (twenty minutes drive to ferry, twenty minute ferry ride), Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (hour and a half drive), Camden and Mount Batty (twenty minute drive), Baxter State Park and Katahdin (two hour drive), on and on...
  • Quaint house in the middle of nowhere. Belfast is an interesting place. Thank you Louisa

    Michael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place really does feel like a little home away from home. It’s spacious, clean, and there is literally everything you need; from spices to board games. The host is super friendly and replies very fast. Everything worked out perfectly and we had an amazing time. Already recommend the place to a friend.

    Teodor2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a clean, cozy and carefree atmosphere, just like home. It is easy to relax and sit around the kitchen table with coffee in the morning or spend a casual evening at the cottage with take out food from one of the many restaurants in Belfast. It is close to everything, yet very quiet at night.

    Beth2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely convenient location!

    Sam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Paul's retreat house was perfect for our party. Ample room, comfortable beds, and an amazing location. We were really struck by how well stocked the kitchen was with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, and other essentials. It made cooking for a large group in a foreign kitchen an absolute breeze. Paul was really easy to communicate with and our weekend couldn't have gone any better.

    Owen2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is an absolute gentleman and an incredible host. He was easy to communicate with and super helpful, going as far as to lay out recommendations of things to do during our stay, putting up holiday decorations all over the house, and making sure we were doing well throughout our time in Maine. He was hands down the best host I’ve ever experienced, and we truly owe him for a great New Years! The house is amazing, and although the pictures are great, they don’t do justice for just how large and beautiful the stay is. The location is amazing and the amenities are swell. I really can’t preach enough on just how highly I think of Paul, this retreat house, and the overall experience we had!

    Andrew2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful, spacious and well-appointed home! This was the perfect spot for a winter reunion weekend. We hosted nearly twenty friends and family, and the home felt cozy but not cramped. Paul was incredibly helpful, responding instantly to any question or request I might have had. I would absolutely recommend Paul and his home for a group, and will hope to come back, perhaps in the summer months!

    David2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The view was absolutely spectacular, the town was fantastic, and even the neighbors were quite friendly. Leo and Paul were both extremely helpful and great to work with. There is a large table that can accommodate many families and enough beds for everyone. Bathroom space is limited.

    Abigail2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views, so many places to sleep and hang out, right on the beach, awesome hosts. Would prefer a later check out time but it was well worth the early morning.

    Sydney2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the retreat House. It was a great stay for the area and had tons of places for sleeping, I can see why it would be great for a retreat. We only had 10 guests, but we had a great time going to the beach and sitting by the fireplace at night. We also cooked some big meals and ate at the long dining room table. It was a great stay and Paul was great about being in touch.

    Brian2019-09-08T00:00:00Z

This historic house called the Birdhouse was built in 1785 by Paul Revere's nephew. The Birdhouse is located in the picturesque town of Stockton Springs. The house is a short walk from the Penobscot Bay and is centrally located; 20 minutes to Belfast, 40 minutes to Bangor, and 50 minutes to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. There is a fitness studio across the street where you can drop in and take a class. Come enjoy all the beauty of the area.
The Birdhouse has many new renovations, but the work is always occurring. The house is believed to have been part of the Underground Railroad, but the claims have not been verified by a historian.
Stockton Springs is a quaint town in coastal Maine.
  • Lovely place to stay, very clean and well appointed! Highly recommended!

  • Highly recommended! We had great time staying at Jennifer's bird house. This home has all the things needed for a wonderful stay. This home is historic, but clean and well maintained. Around 1 hour drive to Acadia. Would stay again!

  • I highly recommend the Birdhouse. Very clean, very neat old house! Would definitely stay here again!!

  • Located on the route from Boston to Acadia, next to a local Searport Park, about 50 minutes to the Acadia Park. The lovely historical house has everything: lots of rooms, shower, laundry, and covered garage. Enjoyed our stay and the trip very much.

    Evan2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool old house. Bigger than it looks in the pictures. Very clean and well appointed. We had a great time here and would definitely stay again if we are back in mid-coast Maine!

    Ryan2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place is carefully thought-out. Interior designs are on point and eye appealing without losing functionality. Cleanliness is top notch as is privacy. I'll definitely be back. Had a wonderful time.

    Ricardo2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very historic and atmospheric house--charming in every way. The owners were responsive and hospitable. If you have any mobility issues, keep in mind that the stairs, as the owner points out, are really very steep. It wasn't an issue for us, though it could be for others. The house is bigger than it appears in the photos and has a beautiful front garden. The location is remote but allows reasonably easy access to Acadia Nat'l Park. Although is also right on main street of a small village, it is lovely and quiet there and traffic was no problem. Highly recommended.

Located at the head of Penobscot Bay, the Rocky Point Estate offers privacy, luxury and amazing panoramic ocean views. The property is situated on 17 acres with its own private island accessible at low tide. The home is located between the popular Maine seaside communities of Camden and Bar Harbor with nearby Bucksport, Searsport and Belfast for shopping, dining and activities within 7-10 miles.
Winding your way down the private drive, the trees open up and you are greeted by the expansive flat lawns, open ocean views and the picturesque cottage style house. The property is bounded by over 1000 feet of sandy and rocky beach with only seagulls, bald eagles and other native wildlife to share the space. Down the path to the shoreline, the private island just off shore is connected at low tide by an ever changing sand bar path that can easily be walked upon. An active eagle nest is located on the island, visible from the home. Property has many board games and puzzles, and space for outdoor play, as well as a Cedarworks swing, slide and climbing unit. Beautiful fireplace, central A/C and automatic generator for the occasional Maine power outages. Enjoy views of uninhabited Sear's Island, Isleboro and Castine from the spacious living and kitchen area. Fully equipped with all your vacation needs including linens. Rocky Point is a relaxing getaway for all ages.
Located just 15 minutes from Belfast and Bucksport, Stockton Springs is a quiet town with picturesque scenery and lots to explore! Fort Point State Park is just down the road, and offers a rocky beach and a lighthouse to explore. Sandy Point Beach is just 10 minutes down the road as well.
  • Rocky Point is absolutely perfect. I'll speak about a winter stay, and continue to dream about being there in the summer. The house is cozy and warm, and there is a great big fireplace in the living room that gives off lovely heat and just gives you that total New England in winter vibe. The windows and sliders throughout the house are top-notch, so there was nary a draft in the bedrooms or great room. It was the perfect place for a winter weekend by the shore. We were lucky enough to arrive the day before a snowstorm, and we were treated to a day in a snow globe. Yes, we finally know what it is like to be in the houses inside the snow globe, and it is as wonderful as you could imagine. We spent the day reading, sipping tea and watching the snow fall. The next morning we were welcomed by a bright beautiful blustery day, again still cozy in warm in our unshaken snow globe... and the views of the Penobscot bay were fabulous. You really really have to look hard to see another house. Imagine, the beauty of the Maine coast, without houses every 100 feet. There is an eagle's nest on the private island, we walked out at low tide to be greeted by the eagle looking at us with much chagrin. He seemed to want to mention the "private" in private island meant private for him(her?) and but was not interested in being part of our pictures. She flew off as we got our cameras out. Leaving us to explore the rocks around the island for several hours. Basically, Rocky Point is perfect. If you ever get a chance you should stay here. We have taken away wonderful memories of a peaceful, bucolic coastal winter land.

    Andrea2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house with breath taking views. The house had everything we needed and the hosts responded promptly with any questions we had. Loved walking around the rocky beach and island at low tide.

    Lisa2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • You’ll get exactly what the pictures show. We loved our weekend here! Million dollar views.

    Tammy2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at the ocean front house of Jillian. The view is spectacular and the environment is very private and peaceful. Jillian is a great host and she communicated very well with us. I highly recommended her house.

    Ri2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jillian and Kelsey’s home on the end of Rocky Point is one of the best places I’ve found to recharge and relax. The panoramic windows provide an incredible view of the bay and are the perfect vantage to enjoy a morning coffee! We loved walking around the property and savoring the peace and tranquility. What a gem, I cannot wait to come back.

  • This is a comfy apartment. We stayed a long weekend and I was able to cook two full meals using the kitchen and we did our laundry in with the provided washer/dryer. The apartment is nice and warm in the wintertime. It has a spacious bathroom with a big shower. It's right off Route 1, easy to find but quiet and secluded. It's a quick walk to the footbridge into the Belfast Riverwalk along the harbor and into downtown. Alana is a great, responsive host and the place was clean and well appointed.

This cabin heats up beautifully with the fireplace and is so snuggly...but shoveling a little snow and lugging a few armfulls of wood might be part of this woodland experience...oh...but if you are up for it...what an experience!
Jackson is a lovely town right on rt 7 with great access to the Bangor Airport and the beautiful coastal town of Belfast with many treasures to explore from there. Many of our guests are on their way to or from visiting Acadia which is about 1 hour 30 min away. Locally the Jackson/Brooks area has beautiful farms and events associated with those locations. It's not far from the famed Lost Kitchen...book well in advance! A golf course...The Hills to Sea trail...and great local food are all close by with seasonal events happening throughout the year.
  • Perfect cabin for a weekend getaway! Such a cozy and cute place. As soon as we arrived, the cabin was so warm and toasty due to the fire that they had already set up for us! Thank you Jim & Doreen. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Maine! -Darlene & Alex

  • This quaint and quiet little cabin is darling. The outhouse is clean and easy to access. Having the wood stove during the chilly night was charming and cozy. I’d come back again.

  • Such a beautiful little cabin with everything you need. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cozy get away!

  • Great little place to stay!

    Amy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little cabin, perfect for one or two people. I needed a place to stay for one night while at the Common Ground Fair. The cabin was an easy 20-minute drive from the fairgrounds on country roads. It sits among a cluster of 3 or 4 cabins that share a driveway,so even though I was traveling alone I felt safe with other guests next door. It had been renovated recently so all of the wood inside was brand new ; the twin beds very comfortable; and the cabin was nicely decorated inside too. I didn’t have time to use the wood stove but I imagine that would be nice on a cool evening . There was an electric heater that warmed the cabin quickly. The kitchenette is on a screened porch. So sweet! And if all of that wasn’t enough to delight, the outside (heated) shower had just been installed and I was able to enjoy a warm shower outside in the morning. Such a wonderful experience! Next time, I will stay longer and use it as a jumping off pad to explore the Midcoast. Belfast is an easy 20-minute drive. Really enjoyed my all-too-short stay!

    Heather2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and cozy place. A small bed for 2 people but which favor the reconcialiation ;) . Outdoor shower 85% finished (very soon complete) but very effective. We loved the place. Thank you

A beautiful new apartment in an historic 1800 building in downtown Belfast. Renovating the place allowed us to expose high ceilings, beams, brick and the original floors. This elegant, uncluttered and cozy spot offers space and furniture to relax, hang out, play games, eat, read or take a nap. New appliances include a washer and dryer, dishwasher, and bathroom. Two private bedrooms sleep 4, with a queen bed in one bedroom, and two twin beds in the other that can be easily put together for a larger bed. Coffee, tea and some other basics provided by the host. The apartment has its own dedicated off-street parking space at back of the building on a quiet one-way street. This fully furnished apartment is in a wonderful historic building right in the middle of Belfast! just a quick walk to the harbor, and steps to magnificent shops and exquisite restaurants. Lounging table with chairs in the sunny living room as well as two private bedrooms. The perfect apartment for a relaxing vacation or inspiring weekend get away!
Come see all that Belfast has to offer and stay at this apartment right in the heart of it all on Main Street! One block walk to the beach and many fine restaurants on Main Street, make this the ideal location to stay in Belfast.
  • This was my 2nd time staying here. The loft is extremely comfortable, large, bright, open but still cozy. Right in town, two blocks from the harbor and super convenient. Kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook. It's a great deal and staying here will make you happy.

    Gary2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolute gem of a space! You are in the best location in Belfast, right on the harbor side of Main Street, with easy parking right behind the building and just a few steps away by a little gravel path. The apartment is an open-concept, absolutely gorgeous loft space. I felt like I was in a Brooklyn loft in midcoast Maine. Hannah and Thomas thought of every detail - books, games, coffee-maker and coffee, creamers in the fridge, shampoo and body wash in the shower, etc., and went above and beyond to leave some treats here and there for an extra-special touch. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back and recommend it to others. Thank you!!!

    Lisa2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place was beautiful!! The windows are so large and you can see incredible sunrises over the ocean. It was spacious and worked really well for thee of us to stay and a team of five to work out of for an intensive week. We were so pleased!!!

    Julia2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely a beautiful place!!!

    Emily2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah & Thomas’ place was amazing! So trendy, incredibly located, and reasonably priced. I would recommend it for anyone visiting Belfast.

    Danielle2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is beautiful and sun filled loft style apartment in a perfect location. Clean, stylish, easy check in, super comfortable, and spacious. Loved it!

    Rhonda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing find for midcoast Maine. The apartment is a gorgeous loft apartment with two very spacious, comfortable bedrooms and of course a huge living/kitchen area. Check in was a breeze and you literally have the best of Belfast and midcoast right out your door. Stay in town or go explore all the wonderful offerings of the midcoast. It's lovely not having to drive to get breakfast at Chase's Daily or snacks at the food co-op. It would be very very comfortable for two couples, or a family. A very well appointed kitchen would make having meals at home very easy after a long day exploring. We'll hopefully be back anytime we need to stay in Belfast!

    Emily2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful apartment was everything we hoped for and more. Very tastefully decorated, very comfortable (warm and toasty even in frigid winter temps) with a nice couch and tables to spread out for reading and chatting, perfect in-town location, super comfy bed to sink into at the end of the day, quick and friendly response from host when we had questions. Only downside is we wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Location was pretty far out there but it's sure worth it. Dan was really nice and gave us great tips for local attractions. Great communicator respond super quick. I would definitely go there again.

    Adam2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay. A nice log cabin in the woods with two guest rooms, shared bath, common area with living room and kitchen, host stays upstairs in the loft. Dan was very welcoming and friendly. Communication was excellent.

    Tim2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most unique experience you will have at ARBnB. Dan is a most gracious host and has so many things for breakfast it’s like going to your very own restaurant. The grounds are amazing and Dan is the most friendly and relaxed host. Don’t miss an opportunity to stay here on your travels.

    Anita2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy retreat on beautiful grounds. Maine is just stunning in autumn and Dan's place was perfect.

    Mary2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is very quaint and the location is serene. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to lay low, this is a fine option.

  • This Air BNB, Log cabin at Stonecrop Meadow hosted by Dan in Hampden, Maine, is a lovely log cabin in a beautiful traditional Maine setting. Dan is an excellent host making sure every detail was managed with care. The accommodations were very warm, comfortable and inviting. Dan is very knowledgeable about the area and can help make a visit there very enjoyable. I will book this lodging again when in the area.

    Miriam2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Just perfect. Beautiful house in a beautiful environment. Comfortable room and shower, breakfast pantry a great touch - would greatly recommend to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in the area.

    Ido2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great how this place is both convenient yet remote and rustic and comfortable! It is an easy drive to the Bangor airport and to other destinations in this part of Maine, but the long dirt road to the property was my first indication that this Airbnb is nestled in a wooded area off the beaten track. There is a large meadow which was sunny and warm during my October visit, there are trails right out the back door of the cabin, there is a well stocked kitchen and cupboards filled with bathroom supplies and linens, and the queen room was warm and cozy. I slept well and woke to the sounds of the rooster, perfect!

    Deborah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, cozy apartment just outside Belfast. Just needed a place to crash and this was very lovely. Amy was very friendly when I bumped into her in the evening!

    Katie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place is a nice place! I stayed there while visiting family. It’s a modern and simple place that has all the essentials- towels, WiFi, Roku and coffee! I found the place to be sparkling clean. I didn’t interact with Amy but I prefer less interaction while traveling as I’m typically too busy and/ or tired from driving to want interaction. It’s just a few minutes outside of town and easy to find.

    Joshua2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • A nice little spot on a quiet road. Never met the owner, but that was fine, she was very pleasant and prompt with responses through messages. Had everything I was looking for in a small weekend getaway for a great value

    John2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, responsive, welcoming. Lovely little cabin! Thanks Amy.

    Paul2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • The word apartment doesn’t do it justice. It looks and feels like you’re staying in a tiny little cottage! Very clean and quiet. Although the sofa was rather uncomfortable the comfy bed made up for it.

    Karen2019-11-29T00:00:00Z

  • Amy’s place is perfect for a getaway in Maine, peaceful by the water and at one hour driving to Acadia Park. We haven’t seen Amy who was travelling but Kitty, the property manager, was very responsive and accommodating. I definitely recommend it!

    Delphine2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice little place!

    Harry2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great house. I’d say it was a little nicer than the pictures. It was well stocked and made cooking easy. Great rate and perfect size for our little family. It’s about an hour from Acadia but we picked it because it is a quieter area than Bar Harbor.

    Mark2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Clean rooms with comfy beds.

    Tiffany2018-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • I call this “our little cottage on the cove.” We stayed eight days and had a wonderful time. Two couples had plenty of room for both privacy and community. The location is perfect for scenic day trips to Bar Harbor, Belfast or Bangor. After being gone all day, we enjoyed having a well stocked kitchen available so we could relax and cook in. WiFi worked just fine; we didn’t miss TV at all but enjoyed being able to have our music. The cottage overlooks a small cove where we got to experience the ebb and flow of the tides. Fascinating! And the rumbling of an occasional train didn’t bother us at all. I’m grateful for this home away from home during our autumn Maine vacation.

    Charlotte2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a cozy spot on the water, don't look any farther. You can watch the tide flow in and out. For a little cottage, there is plenty of room. Three bedrooms and a good sized common space for eating and relaxing. Amy is a generous hostess and is easy to communicate with. Love this area of coastal Maine.

When this little cutie of a cabin opened up, we decided to offer it up to travelers who are looking for short-term or extended stays in the Bangor, Brewer, Hampden area. • Coleen and Michael's cottage is a great place to stay if you are looking for someplace cozy with peace and quiet. We had a delightful stay!

    Alyssa2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Charming cottages with lots of special touches. Communication was easy and fast and both Coleen and Sharry went out of their way to meet all our needs and to be flexible when our plans changed and we needed to add additional time. Would highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed!

    Rebekah2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place exceeding my expectations! It is definitely small but perfect for one or two people. I loved the cozy, thoughtful touches. Sharry stopped by to welcome me in person and gave me so many fantastic recommendations for local food! This place is comfortable and it was the perfect place to unwind after a long day of traveling for work. Would absolutely stay here again!

    Carrie2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a gift you will give yourself if you stay here. I stayed in cabin #2 which was like being transported to a cottage in the French countryside. The decorations are so beautiful, and it is so cozy. They have truly thought of everything here. You are greeted by a binder with all of the information about the farmhouse, the local atmosphere, and “things to do” in Bangor list. The WiFi password is on an adorable little board that’s right within view, the keys are hanging right where they said they’d be, there was a welcome sign with my name on it, chocolates and clean linens waiting, and a cozy fireplace welcoming me to my weekend home. It was absolutely a dream. I love to snowshoe, so there’s ample place for that. The area is quiet is serene, which was perfect for me, as a writer. It was just the best location, with the most thoughtful hosts, at a price that made me feel like a thief. Do yourself a favor, even if you’re local to Bangor, stay here. Be transported by the magic of this little cabin.

Our cozy home is a short walk from downtown Belfast, with its galleries, parks, and scenic harbor. The room has a double bed, two windows, and a lockable door. You are welcome to cook and eat in our well equipped kitchen; lounge in our comfortable living room; and relax outside among our vegetable and flower gardens . You would be sharing the house with us and our two mellow cats. We are personable and friendly, yet respectful of your privacy. Our clean bathroom has a bath and shower.
  • Very interesting and stimulating decor! Clean and comfortable bed, slept like a baby! Nice hot shower. Sweet cats!

  • We had a nice stay at Ivy and Chris. We were well received, entry was easy. Their house is very unique with a unique decoration. We recommend!

  • The bed is ultra cozy and comfortable, the decorations are homey and artistic. Great shower pressure and all in all we felt welcome and at home here. So close to Main Street and all of the delightful shops by the harbor. And Ivy is a fantastic host!! We barely saw Chris, but the little bit we did, he was lovely and warm as well.

    Louise2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ivy is a welcoming host and her home is in a prime locale in Belfast! This is a great launching point to explore the city and take in the local culture.

  • Ivy welcomes us in a very unique and funky environment. The room is charming. Thank you for your kindness Ivy! Sonia and Denis

  • Friendly, comfortable, and a lovely cat for a bedtime companion. Neat place!

    Jonathan2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The bedroom is cute, and the bed is comfortable. There is a coffee maker and water. The bathroom is also very nice. It is walking distance to town if you don't want to take your car. It took us about fifteen minutes to walk in for dinner. Ivy and Chris were lovely, and Chris even offered to give us tips about where to eat. A great experience!

This is an adorable rustic but lux little get-a-way in the heart of Jackson, Maine. There are several cabins built on the property creating winter village feel. We've opened this cabin to winter rentals with the caveat that a guest could potentially wake up on a very cold morning with a temporary loss of water at the kitchen sink due to freezing. However, the condition is usually temporary and just effects the kitchen sink and not any of the bathroom fixtures.
This listing is for the front cabin called the Bird's Nest which is now completely renovated! We are always adding to and fluffing it. Please let us know what your needs are and we can give you an idea if this cabin might be a good fit for your escape. Situated on 10 wooded acres to wander on.... and another 100+ acres down the road with a stream, pond and woods roads for hiking!
Jackson is three miles outside of Brooks and has a little cafe that resources from some amazing local farm foods. Ralphs Cafe is seasonal so check hours. Very centrally located to Augusta, Waterville, Belfast and Bangor.
  • An amazing place for quiet reflection and cozy comfort. The wood burning stove kept everything nice and toasty, but even if we had not used it, it was still warm and comfy inside. It did add a great amount of ambiance though! It doesn't have a tv, but we did not miss it even a little (even my teenage son didn't miss it!). Beds are quite comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean upon our arrival. If you have difficulty climbing, stay in the bed downstairs. But the loft upstairs was so nice and worth the climb up the unique staircase. Jim and Doreen's directions were spot on and they gave us a head's up on any inclement weather conditions. It was a wonderful place to stay and we hope to be back again next year!

  • Great little cabin tucked in the woods! My husband and I were impressed with the thoughtful details and incredible amount of comfort provided in this cabin. We can’t wait to come back, 10/10!

    Ambrosia2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing spot! You won't regret staying here, we are already plotting our return. Note that nearby Ralph's is not currently open for dinner so you will need to travel a bit for dinner (it's open for breakfast and lunch though!! It's sooo good)!

    Katie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was perfect for our stay in Maine. It was very clean and quite cozy. It has a homey feel that you don't get everywhere. There was easy communication with the hosts and questions were answered quickly. We throughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to stay again.

    Susan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a sweet spot, tucked away in the woods. The hosts were very responsive and sweet...and the amenities were super clean and fresh feeling. Would definitely recommend!

  • Super great place .. the craftsmanship of the renovations was amazing ..

    Kris2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is amazing. It’s gorgeous, clean, smells incredible, and is just the right distance away from town. My husband and I aren’t very outdoorsy, but we loved it. I think people more outdoorsy than we are would absolutely adore it here. The beds were both so comfy, and the pillows are amazing. The wood burning stove is also great! Love, love, love.

    Megan2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • What an excellent cabin!! Cozy, clean and just adorable! Relaxed by the fire pit and snuggled up for a couple nights for a weekend getaway. Not hard to find at all and great local stores for food and goods. Loved Ralph's cafe down the road. We will be back to visit again for sure! Don't pass up a chance to stay here if you can!

This lovely room is available for solo travelers or couples who want an affordable and pleasant place for a minimum 2 night stay with longer stays welcome. There are discounts for weekly and monthly stays. I especially encourage the solo traveler who wants a supportive environment to create a personal retreat. This large, private room with beautiful pine floors has a brand new en suite bathroom and two twin beds. An adjoining room has a desk as well as space for stretching or yoga.
This charming attic room is clean and modern and features a clawfoot bathtub with a hand shower feature for relaxing soaks. The room is accessed by a private stairway off the main house dining room. This victorian farmhouse has a common living room area with game table, an art gallery featuring the hosts paintings, dining room and large porch and garden area for relaxing. There is a separate airbnb listing (Artist’s Home—Explore Mid Coast+Breakfast) in another part of the house. Please see additional photos there. So although your area is very private, there may be other guests to meet and also share the common areas.
The Maine mid-coast location is what is special about this listing. The town of Stockton Springs while unremarkable itself is the perfect home base for exploring Bangor, Belfast, Camden, Rockland (the art capital of Maine), Bar Harbor (described as the crown jewel of the Atlantic coast), Castine, Blue Hill, Deer Isle, and Stonington, the Monhegan Island ferry all less than an hour away. In Stockton Springs there is a lighthouse and beach, a yoga studio, massage, seafood diner, and fine dining restaurant— The Hichborn. Searsport has a great bakery/cafe, antiques, historic homes, and the fabulous Penobscot Marine Museum. Belfast is a classic Maine small town with shops, waterfront restaurants, and historic homes.
  • A very pleasant place to stay for my visit to Belfast, Camden state park, and Acadia. Also visited Sears island and got breakfast and Chases daily on Bill's recommendation, which were both great. The room is very comfortable and clean.

    Omar2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Williams place went way beyond my expectations. Not only is the place sparkling clean and roomy, it is Williams presence that is so perfectly precious! He is the most hospitable, tender, sweet, attentive, respectful, and wonderful host. He is a breakfast pro as his delightful poached eggs and old fashioned oats with warmed pineapple, ginger, and wild Maine blueberries was out of this world! Now, if you are traveling through Maine, desiring to check out Stonington, Deer Isle, Belfast, or Bluehill areas, this is the spot to stay! These are up-and-coming artsy areas around the harbors and really worth it to visit! William also has art for sale in his home. It is your choice between landscapes, abstract, still life, or beautiful storied pieces. I stayed in the solo travelers room with a bath right in the mid of the room. It was semi rustic, yet super fancy in the midst! There are two twin beds in this room with a nice sink and a toilet that closes off with a door in the corner. The sleep was super peaceful as there are few cars nearby. William had many great ideas about the area for me, and since it was just us and the cat at the end of the Fall foliage season, we went on a site seeing adventure together to the charming Stockton Spring Lighthouse and walking area. So precious! There are not enough words to express the loveliness of William and his huge, welcoming home so you will just have to see for yourself! Cheers!

    Jeanne Michelle2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect if you're looking for a restorative experience close to Acadia! It's close to the park, but comfortably outside of all the tourist-ness. Bill is such a helpful and generous host. Excellent vibe that's exactly what the doctor/intuition orders. I'd recommend to anyone looking to recharge and reconnect to The Good!

    Kristen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at William’s place for three nights. The whole house is stylish, full of lots of William’s paintings. Definitely recommend. Ps. It’s an hour drive to Acadia national park

    Joe2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • It all worked out beautifully. Thank you, Bill!

    Gloria2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great location right off Route1, room is as described, up one flight of stairs. You must be able to step into the bath, bath is open to the room. Restaurant is within walking distance, but go to Belfast 15 minutes away.

Find tranquil peace while you relax within an architectural gem hidden in secluded natural splendor. This unique bed & breakfast offers a large ground level room ideal for couples, solo adventurers, families & furry friends - high on a bluff above Penobscot Bay midway between Camden & Sears Island Nature Preserve, and popular Downeast destinations Castine & Acadia. A short path through the woods leads to a secluded seating area above a cliff while a longer walk ends at a private cove.
This listing includes the generously proportioned bedroom on the ground level which has a queen size bed; table and chair. There are windows on three sides, a high ceiling and a fan. There is a private bath on that floor, and space in a walk-in closet for storage and hanging clothes. The room has a wifi enabled flat screen tv with Netflix and other internet services (but not network cable). For groups and families there is also a double-sized sofa bed. To include use of the sofa bed in the fee, please choose 5 or more guests. The second bedroom is a 4th floor art studio that has gorgeous water views, with a queen size bed, and its own balcony (but no bathroom on that level. There is another full bath on the 2nd floor for studio guests). The studio has a comfortable loveseat, a large drafting table and shelves with art supplies (but no closets or dresser drawers, and no tv).
The house is at the end of a private lane so it is delightfully peaceful with no traffic, just woods surrounding every direction, and the Bay at the end of a short path that leads to a seating area above a cliff. The property features coastal access to a private cove via a 20 minute walk on a path through the woods. The nearby state park (1 mile) has a sandy/rocky shore for extended ramblings, a tidal sand bar with a seasonal boat launch, and historic lighthouse with picnic areas. The seven mile loop around Cape Jellison is popular with cyclists, and many hikers come to enjoy the trails. Kayak rentals are 2.4 miles away. Sandy Point Beach with hiking trails is close by and offers a dog-friendly playground, as does Sears Island Nature Preserve which is leash-free, both about 5 miles away.
  • What a gem! The Pagoda House is beautifully situated in fabulous gardens by the sea with lots of windows to take in the natural setting. The interior is furnished with artistic choices that perfectly set-off the house's style -- and super comfortable with poofy down comforters and lots of room. Gail is a very considerate host, offering a refrigerator full of breakfast and special bread...I don't know how we could leave!

    Anita2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Gail's place. The property is very thoughtfully set up, has everything that you would need and Gail is always available to assist or provide recommendations. The area is nice for hikes and located well to explore Maine. I would highly recommend staying at Gail's place.

  • Beautifully decorated home. Was even nicer than described! Gail was an extremely wonderful host- quick with responses and offering great local recommendations. She was so generous with her time even offering to help take care of my dog while we enjoyed our trip. We are so appreciative of all the special touches she made for us. Highly recommend!

    Oanh2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Gail's place is delightful. We enjoyed a nice breakfast on the patio over the lovely garden. Recommend dinner at the Hichborn!

    Ellen2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This space was amazing! The view from the top floor was stunning. The location is quiet and there are paths to the beach and to an ocean cliff view. Gail was an incredible host who served us potstickers one night and made us feel very welcome.

    Mandi2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we stayed with Gail in lovely Stockton Springs, ME. Everything was tidy, beautiful, and well stocked. When we accidentally left something important in the house, Gail went the extra mile to get it to us so we wouldn't miss a boat. Gail is always welcoming and truly hospitable!

    Christopher2019-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were really impressed by the hospitality provided, location and amenities in the house. It is a located in a beautiful and private place. Viewing stars from the balcony of this house was the best thing we have experienced in our recent times.

  • Dan is a great person. His home is cozy and warm. The twin beds were much more comfortable abd suprising as I expected college form style i was wrong. I also the the property layout. His helpful little cheat sheet of the area is perfect. If you've never been and you like seafood try anglers get the pie its worth it. The chickens were a nice touch and it was absolutely beautiful there. No complaints was a great place to visit.

    Kristen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Dan is an excellent host! Went above and beyond in accommodations, especially considering the cost! Beautiful cabin on a gorgeous property. The chickens were fun too!

    Jen2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place is a cute log cabin in a nicely wooded area. It was close to Bangor and we used it as a central hub to explore Maine. Dan was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was included and it was nice having a vacation so we didn't have to eat out every meal. Enjoyed our stay and the peace and quite of the cabin.

    Melissa2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • A great, quiet place to stay. Dan is a fantastic and an accommodative host. My wife and I enjoyed our stay greatly.

    Thomas2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great value! This little homestead is very remote but closer to Bangor. You can sit on the front porch and feed the chickens. Out just admire the nature.

    Kimberly2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing log cabin with a private garden filled with vegetables, animals and surrounded by woods. A true get a way in the woods of Maine.

    Maddy2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant time staying with Dan! The log cabin is beautiful, well equipped, cosy, and so, so welcoming. Dan is a true gentleman, very laid back, and so gracious and considerate. The guest experience has been so throughly thought about - everything was labelled for the convenience of the guests, from kitchen cupboards, to light switches, to shelves in the linen closets where fresh, clean towels were provided on a help-yourself basis. The beds were cosy and clean, the living space snug and friendly. The garden is incredable! If you are an animal lover, then there are chickens that roam free, who will run up to you if you shake the jar of cracked corn that lives on the porch. It was a brilliant, brilliant stay! Highly recommended!

  • The absolute perfect spot! We were warmly welcomed by Ingrid and Rick with so many thoughtful goodies and tips, it felt like coming home. Waking up to the gorgeous view every morning and enjoying coffee with the cosy fireplace was just a dream. One of the best Airbnbs I've ever stayed at, and I've stayed at a ton. If we're ever back in the area I hope we can stay here again!

    Ashley2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ingrid’s place was cozy, quaint and quiet. For those that would like a more secluded place among nature to unwind, this cottage is just the place with the right amount of space for a couple. The porch was a nice place to read and waking up to a lake outside your window every morning was a refreshing bonus. The bed was also very comfortable and the fireplace inviting. Lots of added stylish touches with a bottle of wine included.

    Kevin2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a hidden gem! We almost don't want to review it so we can go back anytime we desire, lol. My husband and I stayed 3 nights and didn't want to leave. We highly recommend the lovely hosts of this cabin. They are so warm and welcoming! They have not only styled this immaculate space beautifully with all amenities, but, they have added lovely touches to make your stay very cozy and romantic. Flowers, chocolates, comfy bed & bedding, fluffy towels, books, and everything you could possibly need in the well stocked kitchen! Besides this , the grounds and location are so fun filled. Surrounded by nature, beautiful plantings, the call of the loons on the lake , and the outdoor equipment such as kayak and canoe make for one of the most enjoyable stays we ever had! Swim in the lake , barbecue on the shore, and have a glass of wine on the porch, or out on the chaise lounges, or by the fire pit. Just heavenly!! Oh, and we biked and hiked all day in breathtaking Acadia too! Best trip ever! Thank you hosts for a wonderful stay!

  • The cabin on Toddy Pond is wonderful. We've been staying here for years. The space is cozy and inviting with everything you need to cook and relax. Cozy cabin set in the woods surrounded by fields. The ocean is close by as are beautiful lakes and streams. Very close to historic Castine and the Maine Maritime Academy. Blue Hill is a short drive and Acadia National Park is about one hour away.
My home is small but cozy. The main floor has a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, laundry. It is set well off the road partly in a field and wooded area. The attic is yet unfinished but has two single beds.
  • Very cozy cottage, well maintained and equipped. Geoffrey gave some great pointers for the area and shopping suggestions to prepare our college student for the upcoming winter. The cottage stayed warm, it was comfortable waking up in the morning to the warmth and the temperature was cold out. If you’re traveling with a small family the cottage is spacious enough to accommodate.

Easy access to downtown Belfast, great hiking, Acadia National Park, Camden and Rockland. Hosts are so kind and so easy to communicate with during your stay. • We absolutely loved this beautiful comfortably furnished home. Patrick was the perfect host - warm, welcoming and quick to respond to any inquiries. Spacious, clean and with a fantastic view and sunset seen through the wall of windows running the length of the second floor facing the lake and woods. Great porch. Beautiful wood and many decorative touches throughout. Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook meals during our 7 night stay. Comfy bed. Fast reliable WiFi and many tv channels including free Netflix. We highly recommend this Airbnb and hope to return.

  • I gave this home a five star rating. The rooms are pristine, the beds and couches are cozy and comfy, and the views are quite lovely. The house is uniquely designed with wonderful decorative arts and architectural details in each room. A rare find, a gem!

  • Patrick’s Place is just as advertised. Very cool space; bright and open but still inviting and cozy. We spent the weekend there for the Camden International Film Festival so we didn’t have much of a chance to enjoy Belfast. But it was a great home to come back to. Beds were really comfortable and so nice to have coffee in the morning looking out to the pond. Thanks Patrick for a great stay.
