Places to stay in Uppingham
No.4 is close to the centre of Uppingham. You’ll love No.4 because of the views over open countryside at the back whilst being within a 5 minute walk of the towns restaurants and pubs. No.4 is good for couples and business travellers. Parking is unrestricted on the road outside. Pleasant Terrace is a Cul-De-Sac so no passing traffic and it is very quiet and peaceful at night.
Number 4 Pleasant Terrace is part of a Victorian Terrace built in 1896 with many original features, wood panelled walls, tiled floors, cast iron fires etc. The honey coloured stone on the outside had been taken from an earlier building which stood on the spot as there is a sundial dated 1666 set into it. (The oldest in Rutland apparently) Curtains and Austrian blinds are all hand made from Chinese silk. With its own entrance accessed from the street by a short flight of steps down, regrettably it is not really suitable for wheelchair users. Internally the stairs to access upstairs are narrow and the garden has steep steps down. Central heating throughout as well as a fully functioning wood burner which will make any winter visit very cosy and comfortable. It has a fully fitted kitchen with sink, Electric cooker with 4 hobs, grill and oven and tiled splash back, electric rice cooker, microwave and fridge freezer. An Austrian blind gives you privacy as you enjoy your cooked breakfast. The ground floor sitting room has a Futon company sofa bed which sleeps 1 adult comfortably or 2 children. The TV has Freeview and a built in DVD player with a large collection of DVD's available to watch. The first floor has a fully-tiled bathroom with spacious shower and a comfortable double bedroom with double bed and Wardrobe. Outside the garden has 4 terraces, one with a pond,(so children must be supervised at all times) with fish and extensive country views of open fields across the valley. Planting has been done to maximise each season. Apple trees form the hedge on the west side and you are welcome to try any when in season (usually in September). We live next door and grow vegetables in a small plot at the bottom of the garden and again you are welcome to use any which are in season for your cooking.
No.4 is situated on a very quiet cul-de-sac in the centre of the quintessentially English Market Town of Uppingham. There are award winning restaurants, pubs, butchers and bakers a 5 minute walk from us. Friday is market day when wet fish stalls and other specialist food retailers come to the Town. The Annual Fatstock Show is held in the Market Place on the last Wednesday of November when Cattle , Sheep and Pigs are exhibited with the winning animals being sold at the end of the morning. It is the last in England still to be held in the Market Place. Uppingham was awarded a Gold Medal in the prestigious RHS National In Bloom Competition 2017 being joint winners of the Small Town category with Randalstown in Ulster. The Rutland Morris Men dance in the dawn, to welcome the Summer, every year in the Market Place ,starting at 5.17am on the morning of the 1st of May ( you have to be up very early to watch the spectacle). They then troop off to the Crown for a hearty breakfast. They also perform their renowned Mummers Play in the Market Place on Boxing Day starting at 12.00pm. New Years Eve the whole Town assembles in the Market Place to sing Auld Lang Syne as the Church Clock rings in the New Year. We are 6 miles from the largest manmade reservoir in the UK, Rutland Water, 11 miles from the beautiful Georgian Town of Stamford and within an hour and a half drive to Cambridge, Stratford, Warwick, North Norfolk and the Peak District.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful few days at Topiary Barn - Wendy is a delightful and attentive host, without being intrusive, and communication was excellent from day one. You really do feel like you're staying in a cottage in the countryside given its delightful location in Wendy’s beautifully tended topiary garden; quiet and peaceful yet only a very short distance from shops, cafes and local hostelries. Being able to park in our own dedicated, secure parking space just next to the building was an added bonus and much appreciated. The accommodation was warm, welcoming and very comfortable. The kitchen area was exceptionally well equipped with everything you could possibly need if you were planning to cook and prepare a meal at home.... or even do some washing and ironing! Tea, coffee and milk were all provided and after a busy day out and about, enjoying a cuppa or glass of something on your own sunny patio was a perfect end to the day. If you're planning to visit Rutland Water, Burghley House or to explore a little further afield, then Topiary Barn is the ideal place to stay; I will definitely be back...... if the many friends I've already recommended it to don't get there first! Thank you Wendy for a lovely stay.

An annex to a beautiful cottage in a quiet but convenient location in the centre of Uppingham. Accommodation consists of two bedrooms (one twin, one single), private bathroom and private kitchen-diner, with other benefits including off-road parking and a peaceful garden.
Uppingham is a beautiful small market town set in rolling countryside in Rutland. Stamford, Oakham and Rutland Water are all within striking distance.
  • Great location with a short walk into Uppingham and ideal for us. Very clean and spacious and comfortable beds. Toasty warm and a decent kitchen with everything we needed for 1 night but it would be ideal for longer stays too.

  • A lovely place to stay. We were made to feel very welcome by Anna and her husband. The place is very clean, peaceful and the beds very comfortable. There is no lounge as such but the kitchen has a lovely big table and chairs. There was tea, coffee, milk, bread etc. left for us which meant we didn't need anything much at all as we were only staying one night. Great for our needs and would certainly recommend.

  • Everything you'd need for a short trip, so easy to check in and check out. Plenty of room. One thing to be aware of is there isn't a door to the bedroom, so if you're putting kids to bed in there and hoping to chill in the adjoining lounge you'll have to come up with a plan. But it didn't detract from our stay. Thanks!

Beautiful little annex situated in the heart of Rutland in the stunning Uppingham! Endless activities to do in and around uppingham and you’ll never be short of ideas rain or shine!
Situated in the heart of Rutland in beautiful Uppingham with some of the most beautiful things to do in and around local areas you’ll never be bored of things to do, rutland water is just a 15 minute drive (it even has its own “beach” now.) you can hire pushbikes if you fancy the 26 miles around rutland water! Burley house and grounds are simply stunning. Plenty of food places in and around uppingham and pubs also! Cinema & shopping is as close as 7 miles down the road to corby town. There is endless things to do trust me you won’t have enough time to do it all! Please note the house is a small cosy little annex situated next to a family ran pub so there will be some noise generally at the weekends but hey come and join in the fun! With a jukebox, pool table & the cheapest in town at least you won’t have that dreaded long walk home! Please note anything above two persons we provide z beds in the living room area for further guests.
  • We had a nightmare journey from South Wales in Friday afternoon rush hour traffic, so to arrive at Mim’s place and see tea, coffee, sugar and milk already there was fabulous. It was a little difficult getting into the town as the road going in was closed for an event. Easy access to the property round the back of the pub. Walked in to find the kitchen with a breakfast table, all the usual accessories and a super powered electric heater (the weather was pretty cold so it was needed). Up the stairs to the living room which also had a bed set up (Mim messages in advance to see how I wanted the beds set out which was good of her). Through into the bedroom which can comfortably sleep 2 and from the bedroom into the bathroom which has a decent shower and Mim left ample clean towels for all of us. I did get tempted into the attached pub for a quick pint, and left about 4 hours and too many pints later. Nice place and friendly locals. We were here for the Scoot GB UK finals and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Corby each evening. Hopefully it will be an annual event and I’ll definitely return here if it’s available.

Full kitchen , table and chairs for 5, dishwasher and microwave and starter essentials provided, tea & coffee, wash up liquid, dishwasher tabs etc. FREE HIGH SPEED BT Wi-Fi
The apartment, like the town itself, is full of character. The kitchen and staircase are painted wood paneling in keeping with a Georgian style. It has a spacious, elegant and comfortable lounge. The apartment is tastefully decorated in neutral Farrow and Ball type colours fitting for its period style. The apartment has its own entrance with a utility area and is approached through a pretty courtyard with hanging baskets, container flowers and shrubs.
It is in a peaceful location although it is on the High Street and so handy for all that Uppingham has to offer: great restaurants, characterful pubs/wine bar and lots of independent retailers, antique shops and art galleries all in a historic heritage setting. Everything within walking distance. Open countryside and public footpaths are all near too. Famous Rutland water and its cycling tracks and bike hire is about 4 miles away. There is an Award winning new Sports Centre built by Uppingham School within walking distance of the apartment. It has a lovely swimming pool, squash, tennis and badminton courts and various exercise (Zumba, Body balance, Pilates etc) and dance classes open to the public and non members.
  • Lovely apartment in central location. Parking very close by but Sue and Dave parked their car outside to 'bag' a space. As we arrived Sunday there were no restrictions on us til 10am Monday, which was ideal. Apartment clean and tidy with all amenities available, lovely fruit loaf! The kids certainly appreciated the toys! Would stay again!

The property is close to the heart of this popular market town opposite the historic Uppingham School. It is perfect for any visitors to the school and is a short walk from the town's amenities which include a good range of independent shops and eating establishments. It is a spacious two bedroom house with a large, beautiful kitchen/ dining space and sheltered walled courtyard garden. The house has been decorated and furnished to a high standard.
Access to the property is off the main street through a stone archway and into the courtyard. The kitchen contains a range cooker, dishwasher and washing machine and has a large island unit. There is a cosy front living room with log burner and stone fireplace. A smart TV sits in the corner of the room with Netflix & high speed Wifi included. The French doors in the kitchen lead out into the courtyard garden which is a lovely area to sit out in when the sun shines.
The beauty of the property is that it is in a quiet, peaceful area but very close to local amenities. There is a great coffee shop called Scandamania - they do fantastic coffee and cinnamon buns! Excellent eateries 'The Lake Isle' and 'Don Paddy's are a short walk away. There is a One Stop convenience shop two doors away that sells all the essentials.
  • Deceptively spacious and finished to a high standard, this hidden gem is a beautiful place to stay. The property was sparkling clean and what a lovely surprise to have an enclosed yard outside as well. We will definitely stay here again when we're in the area and highly recommend to anyone.

The Chapel is in Wing, a modest traditional village within the glorious Rutland countryside. The local pub - The King's Arms - is just a few minutes walk and excellent for food and drink. Wing situated between the county town of Oakham and the near by town of Uppingham, both being historic market towns. Each town and the villages which surround them are of much interest from an historical and architectural point of view as well as the many independent specialist shops, museums, art galleries, hostelries, garden nurseries, restaurants, cafes and tea rooms. In Wing you will find The Kings Arms Inn and Restaurant, less than a 3 minute walk from the door, which provides locally sourced food and ale alongside roaring open fires and a short walk to the edge of the village you’ll find yourself at Wing Hall where you can sample the delights of the Farm and Village Shop. On Sundays you can enjoy afternoon tea at the village hall and various attractions throughout the year. The South Shore of Rutland Water is well within a 10 minute car journey with easy access to its various attractions such as sailing and water sports facilities, cycle tracks, bird-watching, fishing lodge, walking, climbing wall, reptile and bug zoo, crazy golf etc, etc. The Rutland countryside’s highways and byways are ideal for cycling and walking alike and there is a multitude of footpaths and bridleways which crisscross the agricultural land between the towns, villages and hamlets. For fishing, walking and cycling, the Eye Brook reservoir is a 13 minute drive and Wakerley Woods is 15 minutes away. A 20 minute drive hop across the border into Lincolnshire will see you in Stamford with its nearby Burghley House famed for the Burghley Horse Trials, being the back drop to many period dramas, its gardens and its historical architectural interest. Northamptonshire with it's stately homes and gardens including Rockingham Castle only 20 mins away is also easily accessible from The Chapel. There are various golf courses throughout the county from the historic Luffenham Heath Golf Club (15 mins away) to the newer Rutland Water (10 mins away) and Greetham Vally Golf Courses (25-30 mins).
  • A beautiful place in a peaceful location. The biggest surprise was value for money! It’s a great luxury place for little getaways in the country. There’s plenty to do outside of the location, like walking around Rutland water and visiting local towns. Wonderfully clean and with really helpful touches like emergency toiletries and other essentials. Make sure to wrap up in the colder months as it does get a bit chilly!

    Jessica2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We spent lovely couple of days at The Chapel, it had everything we needed. The place is beautiful and Samantha & Colin are great hosts. We were only a short drive from all the places we wanted to see and the weather didn't spoil our trip! Can I also recommend the pub in the village - the Kings Arms. Great food and friendly service :)

  • Beautiful, tranquil location, nestling the historic and quaint. The Chapel is refined, pristine and wonderfully engineered, with thoughtful and homely touches - it’s comfy, warm and simply lovely. The hosts are amazingly kind and accommodating too. Perfect!

  • If you’re needing a creative, thoughtful and functional space to unwind, find inspiration or a base to explore. Then this home is perfect. Tucked away in a beautiful village, the silence at night was a big bonus for wonderful sleep. You won’t be in for any problems as the hosts are proactive and easy to communicate with. They have thought of absolutely everything that will ensure you have a stay to remember. For the price, it’s hard to beat! Thanks again:)) Cheynne

  • The Little Barn is a fantastic option if you are looking to stay in this area. Nothing is too much bother for Susan and the acoomodation was spotlessly clean with more provisions and little touches than we expected. Thank you.

    Anna2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. My two children 5 and 7 loved it. There was plenty of space for us all to relax. The barn had everything we needed and a lovely atmosphere.

    Victoria2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Little Barn for just one night on a visit to family in the area, but it was perfect for our needs and so welcoming and cosy on a very stormy night. It’s so well designed, and our teenage daughters loved the Murphy bed! Perfect for our dog too - even in the storm we managed a walk in the fields before we left. Susan has thought of everything - hope we can come back one day!

    Saffron2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Could not have had a better stay. Exactly as described if not better. My husband asked if I could meet their dog because I was feeling home sick for our dogs and Steve came over with their lovely dog who is slightly nervous and chatted and made us feel so welcome. The place was gorgeous and private and had everything you could need. Wonderful trip wonderful people.

    Katie2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nice accomodation. The hosts are quick to respond and helpful with any request we made. The log burner was great and warmed to whole house on a cold February weekend.

Rutland's best kept Secret. Nestled in the heart of the thriving market town of Uppingham, the secluded Stable Cottage is a perfect based for school parents, business folk, or a get-away for those who fancy enjoying some of Rutland's finest country pursuits.
Off road parking which is a rarity in any market town . Breakfast is available at the adjacent hotel at an additional cost. Please request this on your booking.
You will be spoilt for choice in Uppingham. The jewel in the crown of Rutland. Have a coffee in one of the coffee-houses (we'd recommend Scandimania) or a tipple in one of the many fine public house (i'm partial to the Tap bar at the Falcon). You will also not be at a loss for shopping with plenty of gifts, craft and antique shops to keep you entertained for hours. Uppingham is also famed for its independent school located less than 1 minute from Stable Cottage.
  • Great spacious, nicely furnished place, with very responsive hosts. Location is brill, right in the middle of town. This is a real gem that's not to be passed by if you want a comfy stay in a great little town.

  • Tom’s house is located in the heart of the town, close to Uppingham School. There are supermarkets, bars and restaurants next to it. Their home facilities are complete and the decoration is very warm and romantic. If I come to Uppingham again, I will definitely prefer Tom’s house.

  • Lovely accommodation which is stylishly decorated (downstairs), a little bland upstairs in one of the bedroom but no real complaints. It was very tidy and clean and very private. Check-in was very easy as it sits on the back of the hotel. We were even left a large bottle of milk for the weeks stay which was excellent. Overall, worth every penny :)

Located a short drive from the beautiful Rutland water as well as the historic Uppingham Town makes it a perfect location. Note however that the only pub in the village isn't open every day, so good to check before you plan a meal or drink out.

  • Such a beautifully decorated, comfortable and well equipped house. It is minutes walk from the centre of Uppingham, and the free rear parking was a bonus. Trisha had left us some milk and crumpets for breakfast as well as some chocolate fingers, which pleased the kids! Beds were really comfy and the shower gel/ shampoo was a nice touch. Check in was easy and as there were no guests arriving on the day we left, Trisha was able to offer a late check out which was appreciated. Communication was speedy and we couldn’t fault our host. Thanks again Trisha!

    Katie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Two bathrooms 🙂 The house is all yours to enjoy.

    Colin2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic! Incredibly clean and cosy house. We stay here every time we come to Rutland. Trisha (the host) is so helpful and accommodating too. She made sure we had milk, crumpets and other bits and bobs. Plus she left little festive chocolates for kids. Such a lovely touch. Thanks again and we’ll see you next year!

    Anna2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great house, very comfortable, had everything you need. Very close to town, so perfect to wander out on foot and very easy to drive to surrounding towns. Burghley house and Stamford only about 12 miles.

    Nicola2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great house in good location. Trisha was a perfect host with good communication at all times. We will definitely return one day.

    Louise2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place and really nice host. The place is sparkling clean equipped with everything that you need for a long stay has a parking lot and really cozy and comfortable rooms. Trisha is a nice host, she replied on all of my questions fast and accurate. Will be happy to go back next time.

    Georgi2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Trisha was an amazing host and made me and my family feel welcome from the offset. She even remembered me mentioning at the beginning it was my birthday treat and met us with a some fizz and chocolate! We had a fab stay even when it rained a couple of days because we felt chilled just lounging about the house. Its spacious with good size bedrooms (even the single bedroom!) You have to like stairs especially if your bedroom is on the top floor (a good workout if you’re missing the gym though!). The living space is open plan and on the lower level with french doors leading onto the back patio which was nice and private. Parking was good and everything you need to know about was the house was labelled/displayed. It’s location to the town was great, there are plenty of pubs, restaurants, shops, etc within walking distance and all varied. We ate in a couple of evenings and there was just about everything you needed to enjoy cooking. Location to Rutland waters, Fineshade Park, Oakham, Corby and other towns/cities was easily accessed and enjoying the peace and open spaces along with the sunny warm days made it more memorable. Definitely would come back when next visiting the area. Thanks again Trisha.

Henrietta, although busy (when aren't we all), was receptive to our dietary needs and arranged specific food for allergy needs. Great.

Lyddington & The Surrounding Area Lyddington is one of Rutland’s prettiest villages and is located in the south of the county close to the boundary with Northamptonshire, and near the historic market town of Uppingham. Many of the buildings are built of the lovely honey coloured limestone for which this area is know, giving the pretty thatched cottages a real charm. At the heart of the village is a small green, and there are two excellent pubs serving great local produce. There are some great walking routes/trails around Lyddington especially one across the fields to the pretty village of Seaton. A perfect stroll for a Sunday roast! Beside the beautiful St Andrews Church stands Lyddington’s premier historic attraction, The Bede House, which is all that is left of a medieval Bishop’s Palace. Rutland is England’s smallest and arguably prettiest county, but certainly lives up to its motto, Multum in Parvo (much in little); This rural escape is the perfect place to spend time enjoying the great outdoors. Rutland Water offers a multitude of leisure pursuits including watersports, walking, cycling, fishing and bird watching, while Rutland’s many attractive villages are home to picture postcard cottages and traditional country pubs. The quaint towns of Oakham & Uppingham offer a range of individual boutiques; Uppingham is famed for its antiques and galleries, whilst the county town of Oakham offers a great mix of quality high street and independent shops. Rockingham Castle, built on the instruction of William the Conqueror is a 10 minute drive away. Burghley House in Stamford (home of the infamous Burghley Horse Trials) is only 20 minutes away and bird and fishing enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with Rutland Water (home of the iconic Osprey), Eyebrook Reservoir & The Annual Bird Fair (August each year) on the door step.

The space is bright, big, sparkling clean and every little detail has been thought of. Breakfast was delicious and our host even went to get a take away for us! I can’t recommend this air Bnb enough for a relaxing luxury break in the beautiful Rutland countryside. Thank you so much to Alex and family.

  • Alex and her family are charming and attentive hosts. The guest suite is very spacious and both stylishly and comfortably furnished, and also private. The house is perfectly placed - quiet but beside the church and at the centre of the lovely village; both pubs are very handy. We enjoyed a lovely freshly cooked breakfast in the family kitchen and went on our way relaxed and happy. Thank you - we shall return to Rutland.

My bungalow is in the pretty market town of Oakham, Rutland. Parking is available on my drive and there is usually space on the road too. I live about 5 minutes walk from the railway station which has trains west to Birmingham and east Stansted airport (and many points in between). There is a small Co-op down the road with larger supermarkets nearby. The town centre with a Norman castle and the twice weekly market is under 10 minutes walk. There are many individual privately owned shops here.
The room available is part of a newly built and furnished extension with its own shower room next door. It has an outside entrance from the garden so you can be entirely private during your stay. I offer a DIY type breakfast; in addition to tea and coffee I will have available cereals, rolls, cheese and fruit for my guests. I would ask that all guests should be aware of potential allergens in any food and let me know if any particular item must be avoided. The garden is still under construction but you are welcome to sit outside on the patio when the weather is fine.
Oakham is a small market town. We have a selection of good restaurants and independent shops. There is a local Norman Castle that is definitely worth visiting and an interesting museum with an emphasis an local history. A small market is held twice a week and once a month there is an excellent farmers market.
  • Great location with an easy walk to town, pubs and restaurants. Judith was lovely and very welcoming, very clean and a nice selection of fruit and breakfast things.

A self-contained annex of 350 year old grade II listed country cottage in the beautiful Rutland village of North Luffenham, close to Rutland Water and historic towns of Stamford, Oakham and Uppingham.
The bathroom, like much of the property, has been recently renovated and looks wonderful. Please note that it only has a generously sized luxury shower, not a bath.
The village has a great pub, called The Fox. Food is good and reasonably priced and they have a wide range of beer, including excellent local ales. Staff and locals are very friendly. There are various other villages pub in the areas and we can provide recommendations for something a little more up-market if you fancy some fine-dining. Stamford is a beautiful small town just 7 miles away. The George Hotel has hosted people in style since the crusades and is just one gem in a town rich in history. Oakham and Uppingham and smaller, but just as beautiful. A bit further afield is the wonderful Rockingham Castle (still occupied by the family that built it 400 years ago), Burghley House (the finest Elizabethan house in the country, famous for the horse trials), Belvoir Castle and Belton House. Rutland Water is just a mile away, where you can watch birds, including the famous Ospreys, fish, sail, walk, hire bicycles, climb and swim. Or visit the annual British Birdwatching Fair.
  • Lovely little snug, very friendly hosts, there’s no downside!

  • 2nd visit to this clean and spacious property. Hand for sailing club and excellent pub in the village

    Fiona2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A charming old cottage (annex/portion of) in a lovely area. The village of North Luffenham reminded me of the Cotswolds, very pretty! I would definitely recommend a visit to the local The Fox pub for high quality food and service. John and Lindsay were kind hosts who went out of their way to help us accommodate my parents for a day too. The kitchen and bathroom are lovely and modern, the only surprise was that the heating was controlled in the main house, though our hosts were happy to adjust it for us (and also provided all we'd need for an open fire.) Overall very good value and lovely to find a nice clean place that allows dogs :)

    Clare2019-10-04T00:00:00Z

The beautiful roman town of Stamford is also eight miles away, filled with fabulous Georgian properties (Pride and Prejudice was filmed here). You can discover the many little streets, explore St Martins antique centre, the Famous George inn and Burghley House and gardens (also featured in Pride and Prejudice). One of the biggest yearly buzzes in Stamford is the Burghley international horse trials in early September. A fun few days for all where you can enjoy watching the top eighty competitors in the world whilst enjoying lots of great food and shopping.

  • Marion's property is absolutely lovely- warm, spotlessly clean and with everything you need for a cosy few days away. Lovely villages and walks to explore nearby. Marion provided lots of thoughtful touches such as delicious bread from an award winning bakery, milk, butter etc and was just a fab host. Will be back!

  • Wow what an amazing place! Spent the first half hour wandering around in awe and speechless for once! Lovely cosy lounge. Made use of the log burner. Beautiful bedroom and very comfy bed. Great facilities and setting. Hosts great and very accommodating. Will definitely be back.

  • An absolutely beautiful, stylish and spotlessly clean little cottage in a very quiet location. Marion was an exceptional host, placing provisions in the fridge, adding a lovely touch of fresh flowers and ensuring there was a supply of logs for the fire. Crisp, cotton bedlinen, beautiful furnishings and wonderful attention to detail. Just gorgeous!

  • Superlative. Beautifully appointed, tastefully renovated, extremely comfortable. A luxurious space full of thoughtful touches (artisan bread, orange juice, firewood, fresh flowers) in the middle of a gorgeous part of the UK. We will be back.

  • One of the nicest places I have stayed in. Simply gorgeous. Can't wait to return, the location is ace. So peaceful and minutes from the water. Great! Michelle has been a fab host, returned messages quickly and the house has everything you'd need.

    Sarah2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely property and great host. Couldn’t have asked for more.

  • Michelle has a beautiful home, perfect for a restful weekend. Michelle's home is not far from shops and Rutland lake (which is beautiful, ideal place for a picnic, bike ride or a leisurely walk). We really enjoyed our time in North Luffenham, we are already planning our return.

  • The cottage is cosy but spacious. It has alot of character and it is clear that it has been meticulously looked after! Staying there we found everything we could need from a home away from home. All utilities, pots pans and cutlery etc. were plentiful and clear instructions were left on how to use / where to find things. Although the village is small and there are few amenities on the doorstep, this is just what we were after, a bit of peace and quiet. The local pub served good food and it was a lovely place to have a stroll. The local shop was just a couple minute drive up the road so no problems getting what we needed. I would definitely recommend staying in Michelle's cottage and will definitely look to book again when we are next in the area! Thanks.

  • Super place to stay just a few minutes walk from the centre of Uppingham. The kitchen is well equipped and the sitting room accommodated us all very comfortably. There's a great pub just opposite (but without night time noise) and a good Indian restaurant a few yards beyond that. Simon communicated very speedily to any query we had. Altogether we'd highly recommend the Corner House.

  • The Corner House more than lives up to expectations. Very comfortable beds, fluffy towels, clean and tidy. The decoration is tasteful, cozy and has a vintage feel which fits well with the age of the property. Nice little touches too with slippers and local information and leaflets. Also, very thoughtful with little extra things for dogs, such as drinking bowl and extra poo bags. Our little dog mostly lived in the spacious kitchen as it was the real hub of the house with access to the back walled garden, a nice space to hang out and enjoy a cuppa. Also, it was great having the cellar utility space. As we were a party of 4 with a 7 year old boy, it did require a few trips to the washing machine over the 6 nights we stayed there. Having everything to hand in the kitchen and utility room made it feel like a home away from home. As we have friends who live in Uppingham, we will be keen to come back to stay at Simon and Laura’s beautiful and comfy Corner House, when we visit again.

  • The house was great. We stayed there while at a sailing event on Rutland water. The basement was lovely and warm with hanging rail which was perfect for drying kit overnight. Beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped. Parking was the only possible issue but we always found a spot within 100m of the house and 2/3 nights, had a parking space outside the house. There were lovely touches like a welcome card and slippers, as well as 2 towels each.

    Ruth2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely house, beautifully furnished. We were a party of 3 couples , plenty of space and well equipped with everything we needed . Uppingham is a pretty town with nice places to eat and drink. Just a tip , if you are driving from the South I'd suggest the A1...quicker than the M1!
