There is a small kitchen space with a wood burner and x2 benches either side of the room with storage space underneath. • Lovely, quirky and cosy space. Don’t come expecting all mod cons, electricity, WiFi etc. Do come to escape in a really unique location, surrounded by lovely views (and tiny horses!) and hosted by super friendly people. Loved it.

  • Lovely shepherds hut, full of character and thoughtful personal touches. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Emma’s Shepherds Hut is a perfect nature getaway spot. We had a great stay overnight and really enjoyed all aspects of it. It is not your normal stay as there are not the usual amenities (electricity, mains water) but if you are looking to get away from normal life and slow things down - this place is perfect. We went for a beautiful walk in the forest near the hut, and enjoyed cooking over an open fire in the evening. The hut has a log burner for heating and it heats the space up very effectively and very quickly. The ponies and chickens in the field close by were also delightful! I also particularly liked the composting toilet- really clean and well constructed. There is also a regular toilet and shower available for those who don't want to use the composting one. Overall - it was wonderful so thank you Emma!

"The Hideaway" is situated in Houghton, very close to the point at which the South Downs Way crosses the River Arun. The oak framed garden room offers studio style open plan living space with double bed, well equipped kitchenette & separate bathroom. The doors open onto a garden area to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining or simply just to soak up the sun & offer beautiful panoramic views of the South Downs. Houghton is also a mid-way point on the South Downs Way making it the perfect stop over
Located 300 metres from the South Downs Way, the 17sqm studio sleeps 2 very comfortably on a double bed on the ground floor. There is also a mezzanine bunk area accessed via a ladder (restricted headroom) with 2 single floor mattresses so the space would suit couples, 2 nimble friends or even a family with one or 2 small children (albeit at a squeeze!). Please let us know your sleeping configuration preferences at the time of booking. The kitchenette provides a sink, fridge/freezer box, kettle, toaster, microwave and induction hob. A light breakfast of cereals, bread, butter, jams, tea, coffee and milk is provided but if you have any specific requirements upon arrival we will be more than happy to accommodate your request. The bathroom comprises a WC, sink and shower which is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, towels, hair dryer and mirror allowing for light travelling (essential for you hikers and cyclists out there!). The studio also offers free Wi-Fi access, freesat TV/DVD player and Alexa-enabled Bluetooth speaker with free access to Spotify digital music service. The area benefits from very good mobile reception. Also within walking distance is Amberley Railway Station, two lovely pubs (The Bridge Inn and the George & Dragon) both serving lunch and dinner and a riverside café that caters for breakfast, teas, lunch, pizzas and more recently self-hire river cruises. The George & Dragon, Houghton offers breathtaking views of the South Downs and is reputedly one of the oldest 3 pubs in Sussex. It has a wealth of charm & character and said to have been a stop-off point for King Charles II following his defeat at the Battle of Worcester. The nearby, picturesque village of Amberley with its pretty thatched cottages has a tea rooms, village stores (useful for lunch supplies) and a further two pubs! During the colder months the South Downs can get rather muddy in places so if you intend to explore the area we would highly recommend bringing suitable footwear. A unique attraction of the area is its International Dark Sky Reserve status making our location the ideal place for a spot of stargazing (on a clear night, of course!). Dark Skies are areas where you can look at the night sky without the light pollution created by street lights etc. so if you are checking in at night the drive and garden lights are on a sensor but the surrounding area will be dark, very dark! For those walking or cycling the South Downs Way we can provide a baggage transfer service up to 20 miles in an Easterly or Westerly direction for a set fee of £20. Please enquire at the time of booking. If you fancy exploring the South Downs on two wheels, never has it been so easy thanks to the introduction of e-bikes! Chalkpit Trails Mobile Cycle Hire offer a free drop off and collection service from The Hideaway supplying e-bikes and regular mountain bikes. Arundel, Chichester and Petworth are all within easy driving distance. Perfectly located for Goodwood events such as the Festival of Speed, Revival and Glorious Goodwood.
A stunning area of West Sussex. Houghton is a hamlet in the South Downs National Park making it perfect for hikers and cyclists keen to complete the breath-taking 100 mile stretch of national trail running from Winchester to Eastbourne. It is on the River Arun, where it has a bridge to a rural part of Amberley, 3 miles (5 km) north of Arundel. The Monarch’s Way long-distance footpath (which follows Charles's supposed route from Worcester to Shoreham-by-Sea) descends from the Downs to the west into the village, before heading south along the river towards Arundel. In May 2016 the South Downs National Park became the world’s newest International Dark Sky Reserve, only the 2nd in England and 12th in the world! Across the South Downs International Dark Sky Reserve, some of the best locations for stargazing are already designated as Dark Skies Discovery Sites, offering sweeping views of the starry skies. One of the darkest locations in the South Downs International Dark Sky Reserve is at Bignor Hill (3.5 miles from The Hideaway) between Arundel and Petworth. This remote hilltop location offers extensive views of the night sky in all directions and delivers exquisite views of the Milky Way on a moonless night in late summer and mid-winter.

  • Pauline’s Shepard’s Hut is perfect! It is very well kitted out with breakfast and all the bits to keep warm! It is super cosy and very easy to get to. We were walking the South Downs Way so it is right en route. You can catch a bus from the end of the road (couple of minutes walk) into Cocking where there are 3 pubs on the bus line. The buses run late too so it was easy to get around. We loved the Shepard’s hut and would definitely stay again!

    Sam2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The cosiest cabin around, with a splendid view of Cocking Hill and a short bus-ride to the quaint little town of Midhurst. Pauline was so kind to provide a snack bar inside the cabin, complete with drinks, cereal, and porridge.

    Bernadette2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! We stayed at Debra and Wayne's for my birthday weekend and we thought it looked lovely from the pictures but they actually don't do it justice! Everything has been done to the highest standard, so much thought has been put into it, everything you need is there and it's absolutely gorgeous. The wood burner is perfect, the kitchen has everything, the tv is awesome, the mattress on the bed was like sinking into a cloud and the shower... wow! Before we had even left we had decided we would be going back! We actually spent a lot more time indoors than originally planned because it was so lovely and we wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend!

  • I had a lovely stay with my husband, daughter and dog. Very easy to book and check in. The cabin was spotless and very comfortable. It was much more spacious than I was expecting, considering it is a converted horse stable! Such a lovely, peaceful place.

  • Cute little space with a BBQ area outside right next to some horses. Check in and out very very easy and quick and we felt like we had privacy

  • My partner and I booked a last minute weekend away here, the pictures looked lovely and it looked like a nice quiet getaway, but when we arrived it was even nicer than we expected. The pictures honestly don’t do justice for just how lovely this cabin is. It is cosy, homely and warm, and has everything you could need for a little weekend away. Right next to the cabin is a horses field, which was lovely in the morning as the breakfast table is right next to the window where the horses are. Around the area there are lots of great national trust properties, the weather was atrocious for our stay, but we still had a great time in the parks and surrounding villages with lots of shops down lovely little roads. Highly recommend staying here as you will not be disappointed, we didn’t want to leave! Thank you!!

  • What can I say about Sue and Ken, they are the perfect hosts. They are so friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed their company. Their animals are well behaved and I had plenty of cuddles with the dogs. The accomodation was on point not to big not too small just perfect. And that bed, extremely comfortable. The location is Perfect, even though it's by a really busy road I honestly didn't hear any of the traffic. Definitely coming back here again. Thank you <3

The hut has everything you wish for with all the amenities and comfort. Emma and her husband are the perfect hosts and they made us feel at home the whole weekend. They provided us with all the information we needed as well as catering for us with a delicious breakfast in the morning. They are very friendly and gave us precious information on the walks and the surrounding area . Among all places we have visited throughout England I would definitely say that this is the one which stole our heart and we would recommend to anyone looking for peace and beauty. We will definitely be back!!

With ample private parking, this is an excellent place to stay amidst a rural setting 15 minutes to the Beach 10 minutes to Chichester 10 minutes to Arundel Its perfect for cyclists & walkers to explore the South Downs and the surrounding National Trust areas.
This beautiful completely self contained lodge offers complete privacy for guests. It gives independence and the opportunity to relax in a rural environment. It is an ideal base for walking or cycling in the South Downs, and to explore the South Coast.
  • Great location within easy travelling distance of Arundel, Chichester, Portsmouth and other seaside towns. The property is well cared for with everything you could want for a pleasant stay, including a very well stocked kitchen. We visited during February and the rooms were warm and cosy, especially so if we kept the internal doors closed. The tiled floors are a bit cold under foot, so bring your slippers! As others have mentioned the cabin is immediately adjacent to the owner’s house, but they keep their blinds shut so it doesn’t feel like you’re overlooked. One window in the lounge and the front door don’t have curtains, adding these would greatly add to the sense of privacy and make the place even cosier. If you’ve checked the location on street view you’ll see the cabin is next to the road, but the road is quiet and we were hardly aware of any traffic noise. Suzy is a great host, friendly and helpful and she arranged some nice touches such as providing croissants, jam, butter and milk and fresh flowers in a vase. We will definitely stay here again if we’re in the area.

  • We booked cabin as we wanted to get away urban city life and wanted somewhere peaceful and we were really tempted by the hot tub. When we arrived, everything was as we had imagined. The cabin was very clean and really cozy and it had all the equipment you could think you would need! The hot tub was the best ever - being in the 33 degrees warm hot tub when it was freezing cold outside was an amazing experience. We played tennis, and again had everything we needed - the views from the court of the surrounding countryside were just beautiful. Petworth is only a 15 minute drive and has plenty of lovely restaurants to try. We would love to come back and stay in your cabin again.

  • A fantastic find for a quiet night away. The Cabin is very cute and cosy and has everything you need and the spa is fantastic for relaxing and night time star gazing! There are fantastic walks from the cabin or from a short drive away. We also enjoyed a wonderful meal at the nearby Badgers restaurant which I would definitely recommend. Jo was extremely welcoming and we would definitely recommend to others.

  • Thank you so much Jo and family for letting us stay in this spectacular cabin. Thank you very much for the decorations you put out for my girlsfriends birthday that went down extremely well and she is now my fiancé. When the sunset , I got to work and created a very romantic candle display before proposing to the love of my life. This cabin will always be a precious memory to us and we cannot wait to visit again.

  • My partner and I loved our stay in the Annex! We arrived quite late at night, nonetheless, Sue greeted us and showed us around the airbnb. The Annex is cosy, stylish and had everything we needed for our stay. We were even welcomed with cookies and sherry, and a soft blanket for our dog - which was a lovely touch! The location is perfect. Lots of walking routes, nearby pubs, 10 mins drive from Sainsburys, near to Arundel etc. My dog enjoyed how quiet the area was. There was a private garden area for him to roam around, as well as a gated dog paddock. Overall, a lovely short stay. Thank you again for having us! We will be sure to return!

  • Sue and Tim’s place was really nicely decorated and clean. They were kind enough to lend us their bikes including one electric one which was really fun. The sky at night was clear and starry and the place itself was very cosy, we were given lots of recommendations for the local area and were left cookies :)

  • We both had a lovely stay at this gateway and enjoyed exploring the local towns. Very comfy and dog friendly.

  • We had such an amazing time at the Shepard’s Hut. It was a perfect space for two and had everything we needed. The chose the wettest, windiest weekend but it didn’t matter was we had so much fun staying cosy inside the hut watching films on the iPad. We didn’t have a car but it’s pretty easy to get to without one. We got a train from London and one of Sues taxi friends picked us up to take us to the hut. Thank you so much for an amazing weekend. We will definitely be back.

    Julia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little hut. In closed garden... overlooking 3 sheep in a field! Brilliant use of space in the hut. Everything you need to cook! We used the BBQ in january and was lovely still! Logs for fire. Warms up super quick! Lots of lovely walks nearby the countryside on the doorstep! Charlie's farm shop was a must have and it being under a mile away is perfect! Easy check in and out.... Such a lovely cosy hut! And Sue was a great host!

    Ally2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay. Super cosy shepherds hut even in January - loads of local tips and really easy check in. Thoroughly recommended.

    Florian2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely lovely. My partner and I stayed here over New Years to get away from the London crowds and will definitely be back in summer! We used the wood burner a lot as it was a great way to keep warm and makes the hut super cosy. Sue was very helpful and a great host. We loved the Christmas treats left out for us on arrival! Sue was there if and when we needed help and left us to relax the rest of the time. There are lots of lovely pubs in the area serving great food and drink. My partner and I are 32 and 27 with very hectic jobs and lifestyles based in London. I’d highly recommend other city dwellers with lots going on to come and decompress here. Read, cook, relax, go to the local town, take in the countryside. Can’t wait to come back!!

  • Lovely house, very good value for what you get especially in this area, pool looked tempting but the weather wasn't playing ball. Great location for Chichester and surrounding area, just what we were looking for.

  • Bailey and Mikes place is really lovely. Clean and tidy . In fact I’ve never know men to be so clean and tidy! I needed some peace and quiet which I had but they were around from time to time for friendly chats and cups of tea . The kitchen is well equipped and I was welcome to cook my own meals and eat in the dinning room. There is a lovely comfy lounge which is dedicated to guests so I didn’t need to be in my room all the time. I didn’t get to use the pool because the weather changed but I sat in the well looked after garden with my coffee and relaxed. All in all highly recommended.

    Christine2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We found Bailey's place to be excellent for us. It was clean and tidy with decent sized rooms for us to use with plenty of parking space for our 2 vehicles. The use of the swimming pool in the garden was a great bonus which one of us in particular enjoyed! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bailey's place based on our experience.

Set in the South Downs National Park, on a quiet farm, this cosy self built yurt, makes it a peaceful spot for a romantic getaway. Impressive views of the south downs from the accommodation make this a stunning setting, with plenty of gorgeous woodland walks close by, as well as links to the South Downs Way.
There is a compost toilet nearby the yurt (30 meters) and a flushing toilet with shower in the main house, which although shared, is not the main bathroom for the house and is very rarely used by others. This is approximately 1 minute walk away from the yurt, the only people it is likely to be used by are other airbnb guests from my shepherd hut. A small basic kitchenette area is provided in the yurt with a single gas burner, fresh drinking water, a kettle, cooking pot, plates, cutlery, tea, coffee and sugar available. There is also a fire bowl provided outside the yurt to make a fire or cook food on. (Fire wood and kindling provided) From Friday to Sundays, at our nearby campsite (3 min walk away) they will be cooking up something delicious for breakfast and evening meals. It’s always over woodfire or charcoal, either on the grill or in the pot. Breakfast tends to be tea or coffee with a bacon/egg sandwich or avocado bagels. Dinner is usually grilled meat or fish and salads or delicious stews with gremolata and home-made flatbreads. There are plenty of tables and chairs for a communal feast around the Camp Kitchen, or head back to your own pitch for a private dining experience. Either way, no one needs to be the designated driver home! I will email you the week before your stay with the menu and ask for your orders in advance so we know how many we’re cooking for. Prices are between £7-£12 for adults and £4 for kids. We’ll always try to do a bit more in case the delicious smells lure some late-comers, but once it’s gone, it’s gone! Just please email me in advance if you would like to eat at the campsite. (Woodfire campsite only cooks on Fri and Sat evenings and Sat and Sunday mornings till the end end of September) The yurt is not connected up with the mains electricity but is decorated with battery powered fairy lights (a warm yellow) and there is a battery powered portable lamp which is quite bright. If you need to charge your phones you can do that safely inside the main house where the airbnb bathroom is. There is horse riding available on our farm and pony rides for children :) Tuesday evenings I hold life drawing sessions in a lovely studio space on the farm from 6pm till 9pm pay as you go £10, you are of coarse aloud to leave earlier if you like, tea and coffee provided. no experience needed at all, bring your own drawing materials if you have , if not I provide paper and charcoal. Welcome to ‘Gracie’, my Shepherds Hut named after a playful goat who befriended me during a recent Airbnb farm stay in New Zealand. Gracie is situated in a peaceful and private setting under the Magnolia tree at the end of my cottage garden. You will have your own private entrance and concealed off road parking .Gracie and the nearby brick Privy , now renovated into a clean and modern shower room , is a far more comfortable option than standard glamping . Free WiFi is also available in Gracie.
My place is ideal for both single guests and couples visiting this beautiful area. I am located one mile from the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival motor events and four miles from the Goodwood Racecourse. You will have your own designated off road private parking space close to Gracie , which is very safe and concealed . Once you walk through my little garden gate the path leads you around to the entrance of Gracie on your left and the brick shower room on your right ( the distance between the two is approx 3 metres) .Gracie is a very cosy and comfortable Shepherds Hut as it comes with all the ‘ mod cons ‘ including free WiFi. The interior feels light and spacious because I’ve been able to avoid cramming in a small ‘ caravan style’ toilet and shower. The king size bed is raised off the floor with a storage cupboard underneath for your overnight bags and spare blankets should you require them. There are also some board games for you to use should the weather turn inclement. The floor and hand crafted bed are made from a beautiful golden English oak. At the foot of the bed are three fixed wall hooks, perfect to hang your clothes. When you enter Gracie, there is a folding oak table and two chairs located to the left , ideal for relaxing with a cup of tea and a good book. Opposite is the small kitchen with its lovely oak worktop. As our lovely village pub is only 100 metres away , serving delicious locally sourced food and beer , it is assumed that you will only require basic kitchen facilities. These consist of toaster, kettle and microwave as well as a fridge. I will leave you a few essential provisions including milk, butter, bread, cereal and orange juice as well as the usual compliments of tea, coffee and sugar. We do have a very good village Store where you can buy fresh groceries and newspapers, they also do a wonderful cooked breakfast ! Gracie’s decor style is best described as ‘ comfort and fun ‘. The bed is wonderfully warm and comfortable with feather and Down pillows and duvet . A friendly large blue and white papier-mâché Cow head is above the bed , and the trusses have tiny lights( optional ) that can change in colour according to the ‘ mood’ you are after . There are more lights outside: fairy lights in the Magnolia tree if you wish to create a twinkly magical effect, and bistro wall lights on the outside terrace for you to enjoy that glass of wine. There is also a path light ( for 3mins) when you press the button by the garden gate. Next to the terrace is the entrance to your private shower room . This is a small brick building - originally the outhouse or Privy - fully modernised and designed with tiled floor and walls, and a ‘wet room ‘ shower with fixed glass screen. And of course there is a toilet and wash basin, and a powerful fan heater should you require it. All very comfortable and private . Please note I do have other rooms in the cottage listed on Airbnb under the titles of ‘ Cosy flint cottage near Goodwood ‘ and ‘ Glorious Comfort for Goodwood ‘ which may also meet your requirements so please have a look.
Gracie is located in the garden of Jasmine Cottage. I kindly ask that when guests arrive they come to the front door . Jasmine Cottage is in the village of Halnaker, a Downland village at the edge of the Goodwood Estate, so extremely well located for both the Goodwood motor events and Goodwood horse racing . I have a pub opposite me ( 100m ) with a garden that serves great beer and delicious food . We also have an award winning vineyard in the village with daily wine tasting sessions available, and it’s walkable! ( 10 mins ). Or you may prefer to walk up to our village windmill with its commanding views over to the Isle of Wight. Within a 20 min drive you can visit the quaint historic town of Arundel with its imposing castle , the antique shops at Petworth or the market town of Midhurst. Chichester with its famous Festival Theatre is only a 10 min drive. Tangmere Aviation Museum, The Weald & Downland Museum , West Dean Gardens and the Cass Sculpture Park are all within a 10 min drive from me. And if that’s not enough, we have the wonderful South Downs to walk on our doorstep and the beautiful beach of West Wittering a short drive away. There is so much more besides so why not visit and enjoy what we have to offer.
  • What a great little find. Gracie is kitted out with everything you might need and more. A very comfortable bed, plenty storage for bags and a little table and chairs to enjoy a delightful breakfast left for us. Beautiful touches of fresh flowers and fruit. There was a very modern and warm bathroom right next door. Well lit walkway and felt very safe. Pub within walking distance. Fantastic food. Enjoyed our stay very much.

  • A great big comfy bed awaits and a few steps away a very warm shower room. Chris has thought of everything including your breakfast needs. Only trouble was we wandered across the road to The Anglesey Arms where the latest chef proved to be world class. Ended up having a 3 course meal at the most reasonable price even though we usually have just one course, as having stumbled upon marvellous Paul with his unerring recipes and execution, breakfast was beyond us. A truly special night in Halnaker.

  • Chris was a great host, nothing was too much trouble. Had so many compliments about how lovely the stay looked and how quaint the hut was. Would stay again, lovely touches, quiet and something different. Enough room for the 2 of us.

  • We had such a relaxing stay. The Shepard’s hut is really cosy and Chris is a wonderful host. We had a good dinner in the pub across the road. A very special spot.

  • Great little place, loved the stocked fridge!

  • We rented "Gracie" for a nights stay close to a wedding we were going to the following day. Sadly we didnt have time to take in much of the surrounding area that Chris had briefed us about (other than the pub). The facilities were faultless, better than described and would recomnend a comfortable stay in "Gracie" to anyone. Thanks very much for your hospitality Chris.

    Russ2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • An outstanding host, one of the nicest, most thoughtful, considerate and fun people we have had the pleasure of meeting for a long, long time. 'Gracie' was fabulous, brilliant little touches and such attentive and helpful support. A role model for anyone providing AirBnB hospitality. Big thanks, see you again soon, Chris & Ali

  • Carol's hut was very cosy and very comfortable. The hamper that was there when we arrived was very lovely. The hot tub was fantastic with great views of the field through the fence and also being surrounded by fairy lights at night. despite the awful weather the hut had plenty of board games to keep us entertained, a wonderful weekend and will definitely be returning

    Lucy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time, Carol made our stay so comfortable and check in and out was super easy. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back in summer.

  • Really lovely.

    Louise2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in the Shepherd's Hut for my boyfriend's birthday. The place is gorgeous and despite storm Ciara we still managed to make use of the hot tub when we could! We visited the tinwood wine estate and west wittering beach as well as enjoying a fantastic meal just 10 mins walk up the road at Farmer Butcher Chef. The hut itself is perfect with everything you need and it was so cozy in there with the storm battering outside that we just wanted to stay in and enjoy it. Trip definitely over too soon!

    Rosie2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • This little Shepard’s Hut is the perfect little hideaway! When we arrived Jasper showed us around and made us feel immediately comfortable and welcomed. There’s not much you could ask for that Carol hasn’t already thought of, and the attention to details and care taken making this place into the perfect accommodation were really appreciated. The Hut and the Tub were preheated which made our chilly evenings no problem at all! You could really just relax here without need to leave, however we did explore Petworth house and national trust grounds which is 20minutes away. (Highly recommend! Art, Architecture, Nature and 100’s of Deer) We will certainly be returning! Thankyou, Carol and Jasper!

  • We stayed last year and loved it so much we’ve come back again. The Shepherds Hut is so cosy but also so well equipped. Expect a lovely welcome basket and plenty of sweet treats on arrival. The hot tub makes a perfect little hideaway in the garden. The local area is great too, only a 5 minute walk from the Goodwood estate and loads of lovely countryside walks. Highly recommended for a little getaway!

    Alex2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We had the most incredible weekend. Carol was incredibly accommodating and quick to offer answers to any questions we had, as well as suggestions about the area. The facilities were stunning and went above and beyond anything we could have hoped for

    Megan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a special hut, it's been done so well from inside to our with fairy lights, hot tub, fire pits and bunting. Lovely touches from Carol for our arrival and great communication. We loved our stay and would recommend to anyone. Very clean and had everything we could have needed.

    Sally2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was lovely; warm, welcoming and so accommodating of our needs - dietary and otherwise. We actually came to Halnaker to arrange some things for our wedding in July and he had so many helpful suggestions and recommendations, even putting us in touch with a florist who lived across the way! I can't say how much this trip helped us and much of that was due to Chris.

    Christopher2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent host, outstanding continental breakfast, spotlessly clean and comfy bed.

    Rebecca2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a verry nice stay! Excellent host that had a lot of tips for things to do in the neighbourhood. The room was nicely decorated and cosy. An excelent choise if you want a place to stay around Chichester.

    Toon2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a super cosy room in a quintessentially English cottage, hosted by Chris with great charm and kindness. The facilities were sparkling clean, the bed linen fab to sleep in and breakfast in the garden room a delight. Chris gave us lots of suggestions for dinner options and excursions when we have more time, and also fascinating local history. Highly recommend.

  • What a beautiful, immaculately presented cottage. Chris is a fantastic host and his attention to detail is superb. A perfect location if you looking to do an event at Goodwood or explore the South Downs further.

  • Beautiful flint cottage set is idyllic gardens. There is parking just by the front door and Chris is a very welcoming host. His little dog Micky is a sweetheart. Bathroom is spotless and opposite the room I stayed in, which was very comfortable. I appreciated the iced-water, the little milk bottle and teas. Breakfast in the kitchen overlooking the garden was a treat, with fresh berries and great coffee. Chris is a charming host, easy to chat with.

    Kate2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Chris is an ace host and a great communicator. Prior to our stay everything was swiftly dealt with, directions given which were perfect and his greeting (with Micky) was lovely. Our room suited us very well and the bathroom was immaculate with super hot water. Breakfast was top notch. We feel lucky to have found Chris and hope to stay again sometime.

This is one of two rooms available in our converted barn. Gorgeous downstairs small double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and shower, in a beautiful riverside country village 10 minute walk from South Downs way. Goodwood, Petworth, Arundel all within 15 minute drive. The room has a temper mattress, roberts radio, kettle, chest of drawers, hangers and plenty of quirky artwork. We provide fresh linen and towels. Wonderful cooked breakfasts including free range eggs, and fresh fruit.
The bedroom is located in our beautiful thatched barn which dates back 400 years. Plenty of character and a beautiful garden you can relax in too. We love art and there is plenty to see hanging around the house and in the room. Swell as quirky antiques that we have collected from our travels in Europe.
We live in a beautiful village on the foot of the downs a 10 minute walk from the south downs way. From our front door you can walk down to the river arun and wander to the pubs in Houghton, or Amberley (all a 30 minute walk) or into Arundel along the river path which takes 1.5hours We also have a great pub in the village which is a 5 minute walk.

  • Snug and comfortable room in a lovely barn conversion. Excellent breakfast.

    Oliver2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sammy and Tim went above and beyond to accommodate us. We had a terrible journey on our way to the B&B, and rather than risking us missing the wedding ceremony we were travelling for, Sammy was so understanding and made plans for us to avoid wasting time with check in AND gave us a lift the next morning to get our car from the wedding venue. Our room was lovely and clean and the bed was very comfy. The setting is beautiful and breakfast was very nice too! Thanks so much. We’re already planning another visit!

  • Highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in this lovely part of the country. Emily & her husband were most helpful - ordering us taxis and ensuring all was good with our stay. The room itself is clean, modern and tastefully furnished. Perfect for two guests.

  • A very comfortable annexe in a beautiful village with charming hosts. Much nicer than a hotel room and with a local pub serving quite good meals there is no need for cooking facilities. Accessed by a little brick bridge over a pretty babbling brook, the whole setting in a stunning valley which is great for walking and visiting West Dean Gardens and the Weald and Downland Museum. We were there to watch our son compete in the Goodwood 10k and he did very well although he was disappointed he just missed his 30 minute target by a mere three seconds!

This annex cottage is set in the lovely village of Slindon - 5 miles from Arundel with beautiful country walks right from your door and just 15 minutes drive from the beach. There is a shared swimming pool but please note that it is not heated so can be a bit fresh! There is off road parking at the house and a beautiful garden area for you to enjoy.
There is a large open plan living room/kitchen with seating for 4 and a sofa bed which sleeps 2. Upstairs there is a toilet, a very large double bedroom and bathroom (please note that you have to go through the master bedroom to reach the bathroom). Accommodation is basic and a little dated but is in a beautiful rural location and is clean, tidy and has a lovely garden area to enjoy so for couples and families on a tight budget it is just the thing! Pets are allowed with the written permission of the owner and but there is a charge for them - £25 per pet per week for shorter stays - this is reviewed for longer stays. There is a garden area which is free for you to use. It is separate from the main garden area and therefore has some privacy but the chickens and the greenhouse are off this area and therefore the owners do walk through the area on occasion. The chickens are free range so they will often peck around in your garden area. Slindon is very near Arundel which is a tiny market town 49 miles from London near the sea on the South Coast of England.

We were in the area to visit Goodwood races and the location was great for that, plus a short drive to The George pub in Eartham and a leisurely walk through the woods to Halnaker. It was lovely to meet Maria and all the horses!

This self-contained apartment has its own private entrance and is situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park. At the end of a one mile drive, on a private equine estate near Graffham, this is perfect for couples wanting a tranquil and romantic get away.
A luxurious and peaceful suite of three rooms, the Hideaway is to the rear of our house and is surrounded by woodland and grass paddocks. The interior has an African theme and is complimented by a super king Simon Horn bed with Egyptian cotton linen to match! There is then an open plan sitting room with kitchenette and a modern bath & shower room, equipped with fresh Egyptian cotton bath sheets and hand towels. The kitchenette comprises a fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, mini oven with hobs, all the equipment you need to cater for your stay if you don’t want to visit one of the many local pubs or restaurants. There is parking for your car(s) directly outside the property.
  • The Hideaway is a fabulous place for a chilled or romantic weekend. Lovely inside and a great location for exploring the beautiful Downs and surrounding area

  • A lovely clean, private space with all you need for a quick getaway. Reached via stairs but set in its own barn you are left inyour own space. The kitchenette is good for basics but the area is a wash with lovely places for breakfast and dinner. The host met us on arival and was extremely responsive including local tips in the informaiton book that really helped. The location of the cottage was excellent with some amazing walks to be had straight from the door, and two easy to reach pubs in the local villiage. Can recommend the White Horse for a posh meal out, and the Hungry Guest Cafe for breakfast in Petworth. Both an easy drive from the cottage.

  • The Hideaway is a lovely place to stay , and for what we wanted the unique location couldn't have been better. It felt very remote and idyllic, there is a wooded area right behind the house where you can hear birds singing. We live in London so wanted a couple of tranquil days in the countryside and Oliver's place was exactly what we were looking for. We were very lucky to have beautiful weather so felt we got to experience the location at it's best. The Hideaway is decorated tastefully and is very comfortable for a few days stay. Oliver gave us a mix of maps and directions which we found fairly straightforward to follow and found the place pretty easily. There's a National Trust walk very close to the property on a beautiful heath land - lots of heather in flower in summer. The cooking facilities are fine for cooking a breakfast or something simple but not really enough to cook a complicated meal.

  • Can't recommend this beautiful space highly enough

  • The Hideaway is a gorgeous space set in glorious countryside. It's tucked away and so truly lives up to its name although in walking distance of local pubs and a shop. Oliver is a lovely host and couldn't do enough to ensure we were comfortable, all communication was rapid and comprehensive. I would highly recommend this lovely place, clean, full of character and lovely touches such as fresh eggs for breakfast.

  • Quirky attic style lodgings with homely feel. Very comfy bed and ceiling fans kept rooms cool in the warm weather. Lovely quiet surroundings but only a pleasant 20 min walk to 2 nice village pubs. Handy for lots of surrounding places to visit. Welcoming host with lots of useful information provided. Kitchen space fine for a couple of days but maybe a push for a week

The property is a one story barn conversion, that has been totally restored and refurbished beautifully, recently. The decor is in keeping with the character of the cottage, with calm neutral colours to complement the beamed rooms. The accommodation encompasses two double bedrooms with en suits, one a bathroom and the other a shower room. The lounge/ kitchen areas are relaxing and comfortable, with bi folding doors leading to a small courtyard garden. The property benefits from sky tv and WiFi.
Orchard cottage is located in the national park, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with woodland just outside the gate for hiking, cycling and horse riding. Plenty of local free house pubs nearby, with Goodwood events, west dean college,Weald and downland museum, ArundelCastle, Upwaltham barns and the historic towns of Petworth, and Chichester all five to fifteen minutes away.
  • Lovely hosts, lovely stay!

  • Karen’s place was really comfortable. The beds were great and the living room/ kitchen was a nice space with lots of light. It is really nicely done out and very clean. We also appreciated the en suite for each bedroom. It’s well situated for great walks - there are footpaths from straight outside the front door up on to the South Downs. It is next to the main road, but you don’t really notice the cars going by. There’s lots to explore in the area. Would recommend.

  • This cottage offers a unique location in the middle of the South Downs. From the cottage starts a public path that gives you access to the Snow Downs. The view you could get a mile walk from the cottage is simply breathtaking ! The hosts Karen and Ashley are very nice and welcoming.
