Holiday rentals with a fireplace in San José Province

This airbnb mountain home exceeded all expectations with its breathtaking views and cozy, beautiful interior. We all had a relaxing time...the fireplace and fantastic jacuzzi made for a truly unforgettable stay. On top of that, Maria Laura was incredibly responsive, kind, and welcoming, even providing us with coffee and delicious homemade tortillas! 10/10 we hope to be back soon!

Guillermo was very responsive and a great host. We loved the pool area and the grill by the pool, very quiet. The apartment is very clean and very well appointed. We travel with 2 small dogs and the property is all closed in, our dogs loved the place too.

Nice place if you want to rest and spend a few quiet days. The house is comfortable and large. Book if you want to get away from the heat and in a very quiet mountain setting.

Communication with the host was excellent. Very helpful and responsive. The cabin was great. Kitchen well stocked. Bed was comfortable and the view was beautiful. Note that the 5:30 am morning sun comes in and the animals get up that early. If you want to sleep in, bring eye covers and ear plugs. We had a lovely breakfast on the porch looking at the volcano. Overall, it was a good stay.

Just a great place to stay at! Very central to a lot of national parks (including Tortuguero just 1.5 hrs to La Pavona dock). The real delight was having the river right behind us, loved taking a dip after the hikes. So peaceful! 10/10

Beautiful house and beautiful place, ideal to disconnect completely... my family and I celebrated my birthday in a very intimate setting with nature. Noa is very kind, always attentive to everything and quick to respond. I recommend it!

This is a beautiful vey nicekt decorated home. It was very comfortable for six adults. There is a restaurant within close walking distance which was excellent. If your in need of acomdations in this area this is a great place to stay.

Sara was a great host. The unit was exactly what we were looking for. It felt like a place you could settle into nicely. Would recommend Sara and the unit to anyone looking to stay in that area.

The place was really nice and comfortable, we found everything we needed and the building has awesome nice areas for pictures. The view it’s great and the location was really convenient to visit any area of San Jose.

Everything was very clean and tidy, it even had snacks and welcome juice, the cabin is private and with everything you need to have a good time, a good size screen, a kitchen equipped with several spices for cooking and Jeannette even offered us information about restaurants with home delivery in the area for our convenience.

This is the second time we've stayed at this place. Being 3 houses is very comfortable to be several families.

Wonderful hosts, and the gardens and grounds are stunning and peaceful! Easily accessible to the Toucan Rescue Ranch. A perfect place for our stay.

A very peaceful, comfortable farm stay with nice cool weather in the mountains.

Superb. From the moment you enter the property, until the moment you check out. This is a very well furnished, loving home, with a welcoming high ceiling octagonal space where friends and family dynamics just flourish. This is where the cooking, fireplace evenings, reading and hanging out while connected to the rest of the place. The terrace faces west, and between the mountains view you can watch the sunsets, over the ocean (technically over the Guanacaste Peninsula), yes, you can see the ocean from the place, it´s real nice. The master bedroom also faces west, and you get the same ocean view right from the master bed. (Yes, it is this good!). The whole place is surrounded with highly diverse gardens that mix into the surrounding nature. The place is private, feels very safe, there is plenty of parking space, and there is even a small casita in the same property that can be rented if not everyone can fit into the big house. Bathrooms are spacious. Kitchen is very well equipped.

I booked this listing for a group of 8 women. We all needed time to get away from our busy lives in the U.S. The six nights at La Sombra were peaceful and inspiring! What a beautiful location and beautiful grounds. We were all stunned by the property, in a good way:) It was even better than the beautiful pictures provided. Each villa was appointed beautifully with quality linens, towels, robes, bath soaps, dishes, etc. We especially enjoyed the patio views and the design of the structures that incorporate natural light and the surrounding nature. We ate dinner each night on the patio of the main house, and found a spot for morning meditations on the bridge. Catherine and Ryan were available and responsive before, during and after our visit. And, I cannot say enough about the local cook, Marta. We all wanted to take her home with us! What a treat:) Thank you for sharing your home with us, Catherine and Ryan!

We had a great stay in San Jose! The place was huge with lots of space! The pool table was a nice touch and was in good condition. When we arrived, Leo gave us a quick tour of the place and showed us how to use everything. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The location was close to the airport and also close to the city center. All the bedrooms had AC, however the main house did not. We left the windows opened which helped, but also attracted a few bugs. Overall, it wasn’t bad at all. We all had a great time and this place was a great place to wrap up our time in Costa Rica 😊

The house was very clean and comfortable and the view was better than the photos. It’s a bit of a drive to get here but if what you want is privacy, peace and spectacular then it’s worth the bumpy drive. The host was also super responsive and replied within minutes when we had questions.

What a beautiful home! This place is equipped, detailed, clean, comfortable and maintained. The views are endless. The nights are gorgeous. We spent the majority of our time on the back patio and in the pool. The outdoor shower was amazing. Francisco, the caretaker, was also just so fabulous. He was so helpful and just precious. It was just myself and my best friend, two females, and we felt very safe. They had very comfortable beds, sheets, pillows, towels, linens in general. My best friend and I felt right at home. Probably one of the most comfortable well equipped homes that I’ve stayed in. Definitely the cleanest. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. Looking forward to the air-conditioning in the upper bedrooms!
