Cottage holiday rentals in San Mateo

This was our second stay here. Our daughter's family lives in the neighborhood and this is the perfect location for us to stay while visiting. It is quiet, comfortable and just what we need. The yard is very cute and we love to look at the animals with our grandchildren. We lucked out and saw the planets aligned from the driveway on the 25th, as it is dark enough to view the stars without city lights. Don and Lori are great hosts- there are treats and fresh eggs in the fridge, and everything we needed was right there. We will be back.

A recent stay at Robert’s home in Ben Lomond was exceptional. The property felt like home from the pictures on the wall to the books in the bookcase. The fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and toiletries was like walking into our personal family vacation home with everything clean and organized. Upon our arrival, we contacted the owner to let them know we arrived. We enjoyed a welcoming orientation of the property. The location was ideal with convenient access to stores and restaurants. We could not have selected a better place to enjoy quality family time and celebrate a graduation from UC Santa Cruz. This was a super stay and gets our highest recommendation.

Bolinas is a special, unique, off-beat slice of heaven. Same with Charle’s cottage. If you love authentic coastal vibes, then do yourself a favor and stay here if you can. It’s the real, real. Well loved and well worn cottage that works like a charm. Hot tub, walk to beach or the Mesa, or town. Little deck to enjoy the ocean view. Ditch the phone and the clock and tap into the rhythms of nature. Thank you for sharing your magical cottage, Chuck! 🙏

Artistic and quirky house. I loved it! You have to duck a lot, but it’s super cool. <5min walk to beach or downtown.

Mara is a great host, charming and thorough.........a great combination for us! Her detailed instructions and "hands-off" thereafter approach was perfect for us. The unit was just the right size for us and had everything we needed for our week plus stay. We hope to visit and stay again in the future as the location is perfect for us.

We loved staying at the Dipsea Cottage. It’s a beautiful, calming, and comfortable space. We really enjoyed being able to walk to the beach, restaurants, playground, and shops. We look forward to coming back here again!

It was a really nice stay for me and my two dogs. Extremely nice family, and nice quiet & private place. It was unlike most Airbnb’s in that everything in the interior had a personal touch, it was fully stocked to cook, every possible need, both to cook inside & out. Most AirBnB’s have a bit of an “IKEA” feel, this felt like a true guest house, decorated, quality furniture, extremely clean. The drive in was beautiful, and the unit was great to stay in.

Overall we had a good stay at Susan’s rental. She was very nice and communicative. It was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals. Large refrigerator. Regular drip coffee pot. Very close to downtown Mill Valley so you can walk into town easily. There seemed to be a few other renters on this property, and our rental was the very back unit. The walkway down the length of the front house was a bit tight, with 2 gates. It was farther than we expected to load/unload bags. Just a heads up - Parking was a bit tricky because this property is on the main avenue (Blithedale).

Stayed for the first time in Pescadero with the family. Steve's place was perfect - great location, well equipped, lots of space. Loved the views and accessibility to it all. Thanks, Steve, for sharing your wonderful place with us.

Gem of a beachhouse, on a quiet street, just a short walk from the beach. Clean, tastefully decorated cabin and loved the peaceful back garden and front patio to enjoy the sun as well.

This sweet little artist cottage was just perfect. Mindy has put a lot of effort and energy in making sure there are so many things available for her guests: Kitchen Staples, along with different kinds of coffee and coffee makers. There were fresh eggs and beautiful chocolates, and so much more which made our stay extra special. The cottage is surrounded by a small yard and lovely trees. There is a dedicated parking spot, which was so nice. Very quiet, clean, and the furnishings are just beautiful. Will definitely book again. Thank you for being an exceptional host!

Second stay, and I would love to stay a third time.

Jan is an incredible host! We’ve stayed at all of her Pleasant Hill locations, and this just might be our favorite one. She’s thoughtful with snacks, water, and coffee. The place is clean and has thoughtful touches. Definitely a great value too!

Thank you Tamara for sharing your lovely home. We had a great time in the area and your house was the perfect place to return to after a long day at the beach or hiking in the local redwoods. The beds were comfortable with plenty of linens and blankets. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed barbecuing for dinner while enjoying the great view from the backyard deck. We would definitely recommend your house and the area to others!

Beautiful location nestled within a vineyard. Cabin was spotless and spacious. Back patio was peaceful with lush views of a rambling creek and trees. Highly recommend! Also recommend BBQ 152 in Gilroy just 5 miles away.

The home was beautiful, clean, and just as described. The stay was great and felt like I was home. My son enjoyed the yard and the area, he loved the views of the trees. Overall great stay

I literally couldn’t have asked for more. They were so responsive and helpful with anything we may need. I stayed here for a month for surgery and didn’t want to leave when the month was over. The tiny house was clean and exactly what I wanted and needed for my recovery. Close to everything I needed and wanted to get to. All the light and fresh air you can ask for. Recommendations for food and stores. Visits from their amazing dog!! I wouldn’t change a thing! What an amazing host, family, city, and tiny home. I will definitely be back.

The house was clean and comfortable in an impossible-to-beat location. Plenty of nearby options for food, shopping, and endless oceanside hikes. The kitchen was well stocked for all of your cooking needs. A few basics were missed such as a delay in check in, due to key code not shared, and mysteriously few bottles of hand soap, but nothing we couldn’t work around. We would stay here again!

My husband and I had a great time in Mill Valley. We were amazed at the location of this adorable cottage. It is walking distance to the library and to downtown MV, which had everything we could possibly need/want. Such an incredible community. Our host was helpful when we had questions and answered promptly. The cottage was cute, clean and cozy. Overall we loved our stay and would love to come back again someday!

I love Tom's place! This was my second time staying. It is a beautiful oasis. Super quiet, peaceful, comfortable space, perfect for writing, working, and rest away from the city, yet still convenient to all the amenities of Los Altos. Tom is a lovely host and goes out of his way to be accommodating. This is one of only a few affordable and high quality Airbnbs in the area. Highly recommend!

This was our second long-term stay (each stay being several weeks) at the Sunset Serene Cottage and we will definitely be coming back for more. Consider this as your home away from home. The location and the view cannot be beat. The house is perfect for us as a couple - bedroom, kitchen, living room, and bathroom have everything you need for a relaxing and convenient stay. It’s surrounded by so much nature, and it was wonderful to have a busy day and then come home to this oasis. Neighborhood is also very safe and we took many walks to enjoy the view of the Bay. Thank you Meg! Wonderful place and a wonderful stay. Super quiet and peaceful. The first thing we did upon arriving was recline on the deck in the gravity chairs with birds chirping us to sleep! Great kitchen and also great local food.
