Beachfront holiday rental in Shawnigan Lake

This was our home base for the HOH rainforest. The forest was about 2 hrs away. The place is gorgeous, we didn't want to leave. We could have stayed all week and found so many things to do locally. The windows were large and we were right on the ocean. The dishes were cute, there was a wine opener (which was key). It was quiet safe, the waves were so loud (very cool), our patio was cute. There was electricity! Just a few lights and outlets to still have a glamping feel without being on the screen all day. The bed and sheets were so comfortable. Some mistakes I made. 1. Get groceries in Sequim or Port Angeles. We stopped at a tiny market and were very limited then saw a whole store! 2. A lot of places weren't open after 8, so plan for dinner ahead. 3. We thought we had to get there because it would be so dark, but in the summer we should have not hurried, there was plenty of light even when the sun was gone.

The little cabin remains an absolute treasure. I first came here 17 years ago and it remains as wonderful as ever, impeccably cared for and very private. The view from the deck is breathtaking and the hammocks are a special treat!

Not only is this home luxurious and immaculate, it is a nourishing step back in time where everything is hand-made, lovingly curated, and generously shared. I can’t recommend this little cottage enough. And if you’re blessed enough to walk the gardens, well…delightful doesn’t even come close. I really recommend this stay for a family or anyone looking to slow down and savour a beautiful time.

Beautiful property—neat little nook tucked into the hillside. We really enjoyed the gas firepit on the patio! Really lovely place for adults to stay, slightly challenging with an infant because washing bottles is hard in the sink and the shower head is quite high so no ideal way to bathe the baby. Would highly recommend for adults or families with older children though! Property was gorgeous and the space very comfortable and romantic feeling. Hosts were very accommodating and set up a pack and play for us and were responsive and helpful when needed. We saw so much wildlife on the property it was very peaceful. Thanks! Hope to return!

Our cabin stay was amazing! We loved waking up to beach sunrises and walking along the sand-all right outside our cabin! This home was extremely clean and was fully stocked for all of our needs. Also an amazing location if you are looking for an Olympic Nat. Park base! About 1 hour away from all of the amazing hikes and viewpoints. Harrison was kind and also left us fresh eggs from his chicken coop. Overall, our stay was amazing! Would love to come back again :).

we had a wonderful time staying at dauphins house, beautiful surroundings, every morning we see deers, has a nice private dock to take a dip in and private small beach, its absolutely peaceful, would highly recommend this place and amazing parking fit all my 4 trucks.

This was one of the best stays in our lives. The place, the views, the feelings was something out of ordinary. We loved the place from the very first moment we found it on the Internet and loved it even more when we arrived there. I would definitely recommend this place and would really like to go back there as soon as we plan another vacation.

We’ve stayed at the Inn Of the Sea many time and been lucky to stay at both of Tammy’s condos. We come and go from the area all the time for work and it’s hard to go back to a hotel after discovering the condos.

What a great spot! Nestled in the woods in a peaceful and quiet setting this place is truly one-of-a-kind. The house is very unique with lots of character that sets it apart from the usual stays. It was clean and had all we needed. Our host Gramma Rikki was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, and we could not take advantage of all the outdoor spaces and amenities. We played pool, sat by the cozy fire and did some island exploring by car. All in all it was a very enjoyable and relaxing getaway despite the crummy weather. We hope to return one day and experience everything this wonderful place has to offer.

Pat's place is awesome. We, a family of four - two adults and two kids (one is at teen age and another one is younger), spent a great long weekend there. Bright, cozy condo with great view from almost any window. It fits all of us, has a nice kitchen with everything you need for your stay. Heated pool with a hot tub, which we and kids enjoyed, just downstairs. The Bay is very good for paddle boarding. We did twice over our stay. If tide is low, you can reach a tiny island where you can find lots of purple and orange sea stars, crabs, and oysters. Ladysmith and Nanaimo suggest great dinner options. Nanaimo also has a nice walkable Marina merging into Maffeo Sutton park. If you like hikes, we tried Extension Ridge Trail hike near Nanaimo and can strongly recommend it to anyone. Malahat Tower is a fun place to visit, just one hour of driving from "Inn of the Sea" resort, we've been there, and were not disappointed. Will definitely stay again at Pat's place.

The stay at Jason's was peaceful and refreshing. It's a beautiful spot and nice and clean.

The unit was exactly as shown in the pictures. It was extremely comfortable for three people with a well-appointed kitchen, large dining area, private patio and a lovely view of the water. We enjoyed using the Inn of the Sea's pool, hot tub, and communal barbecues, and watching the sun come up with our coffees down on the dock. Thank you, Genevieve, for sharing your beautiful place with us - we'll be back!

Absolutely perfect!! The views from every room were breathtaking and having access to the private beach was a nice way to wind down in the evenings. Dan and Sam were a pleasure as well, super easy to communicate with and proactive in letting us know where was a potential issue with power (everyone turned out fine!). Also enjoyed a few close hiking trails and some yummy food. Overall, a perfect place to have a mix of being active in nature with relaxing and unwinding. Would love to stay here again!

Carol’s place was AMAZING! The kitchen had everything needed to make meals for dining in, which we did a lot of because THAT VIEW!! We didn’t want to leave, just wanted to sit and watch for marine life. We saw seals, dolphins, eagles, and a family of 6 sea otters playing. When the evening started to cool we moved our binoculars to the hot tub to continue enjoying the views and serenity. My family agreed the beds were comfy and we all slept well. If you are looking for a go go go vacay Pender Island is not your place. If you want easy hikes in gorgeous surroundings, peace that reaches your very core, and super friendly people I definitely recommend Pender Island! The didc golf course has discs for public use and was really fun! Driftwood shopping center has all you will need. We recommend Sea Star Winery and a stop at Bee Wild distillery for tastings. We HIGHLY recommend Carol’s place!

Eileen's apartment was fantastic! The apartment was well laid out, had everything one needed, bed was great and sofa was super comfy. I loved the fresh flowers in each room! The large south facing porch, overlooking her beautiful yard, lots of heather, with views of snow-clad mountains, seals and bald eagles was such a bonus! The area is quiet, great for walking, and yet close to grocery stores. Eileen was extremely responsive, very helpful, and a pleasure to meet. Most highly recommended!

We enjoyed a four night stay at Gabrielle’s house. It is a beautiful spacious house with beautiful views over the water. There is a big deck with plenty of seating including a dining set for those warm evenings. There is access to a private dock which is great for fishing. It is up water from the ferry terminal at Long Harbour so there was very little traffic on the water, ideal for fishing or just enjoying the peace and quiet. We even enjoyed a visit from a local deer, grazing quietly on the banking by the garage. The house is clean and has a very well equipped kitchen and ample seating. Bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. In the lounge there were books and guides plus a few games to suit all ages plus pbinoculars to study the wildlife. Food shops, restaurants and other facilities are a 10 minute drive into Ganges and there is a local market on Saturdays with a selection of artisan stalls. Gabrielle was a very responsive host, and easy check in/out Certainly recommend.

I stayed here before and decided to come again with other travelling companions. The location is beautiful. The home is a beautiful space with everything we needed, including a wonderful view. With the big windows, we could see robins building their nest under the home’s balcony while also being able to watch eagles flying by over the water. Sharon was responsive with texting even though she was away during our stay. There is a nearby small commercial space with two food trucks serving excellent food if you want a respite from cooking. We could either choose to eat there before driving out of the area for the day, or to stop off for dinner on our way back. I highly recommend Sharon’s place if you are looking for a rural oceanside getaway.

My parents and I had a very lovely stay at Bob & Anna’s! The location was great as it was near the ocean, great for morning walks! We mostly had our itinerary in downtown Victoria but we didn’t mind the drive as we really got to explore the island! The place felt like home and made us feel like a local in the area! The place was really clean and tidy. It was better than the pictures! Overall, we loved our stay and we hope to book with Bob & Anna again for our future visits to Victoria!
