Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

A cheerie suite close to hiking trails/wineries

Our bright and cheerful suite is one bedroom with a double sofa bed in the living area. It is fully furnished with a full kitchen, complete bathroom facilities and washer/dryer. The suite is totally self contained with its own private entrance. Linens, towels, shampoos and utensils are provided together with coffee, fresh cream We are at the foot of Mt. Tzouhalem (Zoo-Halem), a popular hiking/mountain biking and walking destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Our suite is inspected and legal.

Cobble Hill Cedar Hut

With your own detached bathroom and kitchen about 30m from the Cedar Hut, this can be your cozy, heated one room glamping experience. A private spot on our little farm. We are settled on 9.5 acres which you are Welcome to roam. Farm dogs Klaus (Bernese/Aussie) and Pinkie (Dachsi) are friendly and keep busy with roaming the property. Our horses are your neighbors and you will most likely find us in the garden. Enjoy the tranquility and privacy of your getaway to relax. Two bicycles provided.

Take a break to unwind in beautiful Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island - about a 40 minute drive from Victoria BC. Our renovated (in June 2023) suite is at the end of a no-through road and is only a 5-10 minute walk into the village to a fabulous, organic craft bakery, artisan shops, restaurants, a museum, a pub, a small grocery/liquor store and a popular ice cream/candy store. (Seasonal) kayak/paddle-board rentals & whale watching excursions for hire. Cowichan District Hospital 15 min drive.

Step Inn Stones is a delightful, private entry suite located in the quaint Historical Village of Cowichan Bay, BC. Located on a no-through road above the village with a beautiful ocean view for a tranquil getaway, we are a five-minute walk to fine dining, shops, pubs, marinas and more. A short intermediate private trail will take you down to the beach. The 560 square foot cabin is set back on the property, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Juan de Fuca Straight. Cozy up by the wood fire in this cozy 1 king bed cabin or have a bath in the outdoor tub and enjoy the breathtaking views!

The location is perfect for those who want to have a place to relax after exploring the local vineyards, farmers’ markets, parks, beaches and walking trails. The cottage’s style mimics that of the main house, which is about 60 feet away from the cottage. We respect your privacy, and will leave you to yourselves.
