KAIWA NO SATO This old house is an indigo mansion built in the first year of the Bunsei era (1804) during the heyday of indigo. The main house and the sleeping area (a barn where indigo was stored) have been demolished due to aging, but the historic living room and garden have been preserved to allow guests to experience a little bit of that time, and it is used as a farmhouse inn. In the old days, "Indigofera" grew on the fertile land of the Yoshino River basin in Tokushima Prefecture, bringing great wealth to Tokushima Prefecture (Awa Province). Ancient documents on indigo, including cultural properties, are also available for viewing. It is a traditional inn that initially opened as an inbound accommodation facility. It takes 8 minites by walk to a ferry landing, train stations(JR station and a street car station. This room is semi-private. It is partitioned with paper wall. So you can hear more next room's guest voice compared to the usual room. We have one shared toilet and two shared shower rooms. There are lots of trees behind it. So you might find centipedes or other bugs.

Traditional Japanese two story wooden house with 11 rooms built in 1932 . The guestrooms are Japanese tatami rooms located on the second floor. Basically limited to 1 group per day. I rescue cats on the island and now I have 9 cats in my house. They are friendly so often they are walking and running around guest rooms. The house is on a quiet street about 20 meters from the coast and a 10 minute walk from the port.
