Browse in the eclectic independent shops and sample the finest seafood in the local eateries. Walk up to the abbey, stroll along the piers and collect fossils from the beach, take a ride on the steam train to the neighbouring villages and explore the moors. Please note due to the beach side location of the cottage, there is unfortunately no parking.

Castleton is lucky to have two great pubs The Downe Arms with fabulous food and atmosphere right across the road and The Eskdale which serves lovely ‘fine dining food’ but also lovely just for a drink. There’s the Old Chapel Tearoom, Premier & ‘Off the Scale’ shop We are also along the Esk Valley train line to Whitby

With its double height vaulted ceiling and full height double aspect windows the open plan kitchen living diner offers a light and airy space to unwind and enjoy the view of surrounding fields. The bedroom has a Kingsize bed, Egyptian cotton sheets and En-Suite shower room. The Bathroom offers complimentary Bramley products and cotton bathrobes. Both areas are underfloor heated. Keepers Cottage is part of the Old Mill, and is a highly commended cottage located at Egton Bridge, which is a North York Moors National Park conservation area, on the coast to coast path near to the coastal town of Whitby and ideal for exploring the moors, the Yorkshire Coast, including Scarborough, Bridlington, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay. In addition Malton, Pickering and the City of York. North York Moors is officially designated as Dark Skies Reserve right on our door step.

The Smithy at Cross Pipes, Goathland

The Smithy is a self contained stone built cottage situated on the edge of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors. It was built in the 1800’s and was originally one of two blacksmiths serving the community of Goathland. The Smithy offers you a comfortable base to visit the local area. Spacious studio accommodation with a king sized bed in a recessed area, walk in shower and toilet, full kitchen facilities, wood burning stove, TV and Wi-Fi. There is an outside seating area and private parking.
