Family-friendly holiday rentals in South Stormont

This was our second stay at Kim and Scott's and we loved it again. Very private and peaceful cottage, right on the water. We brought out paddleboards and paddled the entire lake. Super cute place for two people.

We absolutely loved our stay at this cottage! It was perfect for a group, with private sleeping areas and lots of shared space to relax. The cottage was fully stocked with everything we needed, and Robin was a fantastic host. Flexible, accommodating, and pet friendly, which made our weekend completely stress-free and enjoyable. We’d definitely book again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway on the water.

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful stay. Our dog immediately fell in love with the space both inside and out. It was great to have a place to stay with our dog where we didn't have to worry about others around (our dog is a bit reactive to other people), and we could easily go outside and immerse ourselves in quiet, peaceful nature. We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely have to consider staying again if we come back up to visit the Adirondacks in the future!

Erin's place was wonderful for our family of 12! We agree with the other reviews - the photos don't do it justice. It was clean and well-equipped. The only negative was that we arrived on a very hot and humid day, so we definitely very hot, with no AC. We brought some fans and did purchase some larger fans. The kitchen was perfect - we made most of our meals. We did go out one night and the Gran View and really like that suggestion. The paddle boards/kayaks and floats were so nice to not have to rent. The river is super calm before and after storms or in the mornings. We rented a pontoon boat from Wellsey Island, and it was dropped off at a nearby marina. We docked the boat on one side or the other of the dock, depending on the current or rough waters. We loved the quiet road for walks, and only a 25 minute drive to A-bay. The grill worked well. All in all, it was a great place!

Emily’s house was a dream and is highly recommended. Our family of 5 (with 3 kids under 10) spent a week at Emily’s house while in Ottawa to help out a family member. We were so grateful for Emily’s hospitality. As we were there during yet another wave of the pandemic, coupled with virtual school, we were basically in lockdown at the house - it could have been a very unpleasant week. Instead, it was truly wonderful to have Emily’s beautiful home to feel grounded in. The house was clean, comfortable, exactly as represented in the pictures, and we were struck by the attention to detail. The communication with Emily was perfect. After a week in the house, we joked about staying a week longer! There is no doubt that we will return.

We had a great family week away at David’s place and as a host he was super helpful. The view from the window/hot-tub/deck was fantastic, shame we could not bring it home with us! The weather was not great for the week, meaning limited time on the lake. We did manage a day on a hired boat, the other days we went on day trips to local towns and Ottawa by train from Brockville. We also did a city cruise of 1000 islands and attended the annual 1000 islands rib fest. The house was well equipped with all we needed for a great family stay and a relaxing week. For a BBQ recommend a trip to “The Butcher Shop”.

Beautiful view! Spacious home and very well equipped kitchen for cooking. Comfortable beds with lots of bedding, towels, etc.

Great house at a great location. House was nice and warm despite the 0 degree weather with high winds. Driveway was maintained clear during 15” of snow. Great sledding on the property, ice fishing on the lake and cross country skiing on the rail trail that passes the house. Main floor and upper floor were great, lower level needs some TLC and the two lower level beds were very uncomfortable. No problem with the rest of the rooms. Kitchen was well stocked and plenty of room to gather on the main floor. Could use a larger table, plenty of room in the house for our group of 13 but not a big enough table for us to all eat at together (kitchen island provided most of the needed extra spots). Overall a great place at a great location.

Cozy apartment and great location close to shops and restaurants.

Great place in a good location, walking distance to several nice restaurants and bars. The house is quite spacious, with plenty of parking. Hosts were attentive and quick to respond to queries. The carpet upstairs is a bit old but the rest was clean and well-furnished.

Kristina has a wonderful property. Great location, fantastic amenities and a very comfortable home. Great location in Barrhaven as it was perfect for us visiting our family living in Ottawa. We hope to be able to stay at Kristina's in the near future.

Anita's cottage made us feel comfortable and relaxed. It had a great beach vibe look to it with all her personal touches in the decor and design of the cottage. The cottage is very sizable and to have the extra bathroom in the nearby shed was truly a luxury. The cottage is well situated right on the water with only steps on the large multi level deck giving access to the St. Lawrence River. Swimming was great for our family and dog as the access to the river was shallow and gradual to the lake. Both of the full days we had at the cottage was sunny and clear and we were able to take advantage of the stunning sunset that landed directly on the deck of the cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessary spices and utensils necessary to cook inside or on the BBQ right outside. Anita was very responsive to our requests and was accommodating to a last minute change in the number of guests and allowed us to charge our Tesla in front of the cottage.

We really enjoyed Tammie's place, very cool old farmhouse in a quiet neighborhood. We saw deer out in the yard on several occasions. Tammie and her staff put a lot of thought into stocking the kitchen. The place has lots of room and is great for larger families.

Pretty view of the Rideau River. Quiet spot to relax, take a stroll around the neighborhood. The kitchen had everything that was needed to cook. Comfy bed with a great view.

It was perfect and definitly will go back

What an experience. Everybody should try this at least once! Renting your own private island made us feel like we were in a very private in exclusive place yet extremely close to things such as the boat ramp, restaurants, and other sights. You do need a boat of some sort, but that’s all part of the fun and experience! The house was well equipped uncomfortable. Swimming around the island was epic. It was a short 15 minute ride to get to sites such as bolt castle. There was also a great little restaurant in Rockport.

The host is great! The location is perfect. The jacuzzi is a big highlight! Just remember to book it a little in advance. Thank you

Anne’s place was a great spot to stay while we visited family in the area! It was private and quiet and the surroundings were so peaceful! We’ll definitely be back!

What a lovely spot! Susan & family were so welcoming, my 4 year old loved getting to meet the many beautiful critters surrounding the guest house (getting toppled over by a friendly goat just added to the adventure!). The space is thoughtfully laid out to maximize the views, and the bed & furnishings are super comfortable. This was a staycation for us and it was truly a treat to have such a relaxing getaway in our own neighborhood.

Very spacious comfortable accommodation. No easy place to go for a walk other than the main road, and driving required for food and drink.

The house was very beautiful and the environment very quiet. Everything is well equipped and well appointed. The only small thing that displeased us a little was that there was hair in one of the beds when we arrived. The dishes were also sometimes dirty, but I think it's the responsibility of the former tenants. The location is great, close to amenities.

Fantastic hosts and a great location with lots of space and piece and quiet on the river shore. Loved the hammocks hanging up in different places. The pool was clean and our girls loved having it to themselves. The cottage(s) could do with an little upgrade especially the kitchen but beds were comfortable and it did have all we needed for 2 days including a barbecue.

We stayed here with my sister and our school aged children. They LOVED the pool. Had some trouble getting the heat on but Patricia helped us out and was very responsive. I love Orleans, it’s pretty and quiet - it has everything you would need expect if you want something in particular in central Ottawa- it’s 30-40 min away. Overall would recommend highly for families.

The house was exactly what we needed for our trip to the Ottawa area—exactly as depicted in the description! My partner arrived before I did, and Anne was very responsive, answering his questions as I was still driving to the house. We also appreciated that someone came to clear even more space in the parking area while we were there. Would highly recommend for anyone who needs a place to stay with their dogs.
