Holiday rentals with lake access in Southern Europe

Our group of 4 had a wonderful stay at the window to the lake. Beautiful views also to the surrounding Tremezzo and mountains along with a very comfortable stay. We travelled to other locations on Lake Como and even had a night in cooking dinner and drinking wine from the local market. Thanks to Elena E Mara for a great stay!

We had a lovely 11 day stay at Helene and Patrick’s home. It was as described, very clean and beautifully presented. Their warm welcome was lovely as was their gift of a chilled bottle of wine on arrival. They were charming, the perfect hosts. The house was a great base for exploring the wider area. The shade in the garden was much appreciated during some very hot days. The bakeries in the village were excellent and all the locals we spoke to were very friendly. On occasion the car park near the house was full but we always managed to get parked somewhere in the village. We had a great stay!

This home is absolutely stunning. The area is so quiet with only the sound of the birds and the breeze in the trees. The park is completely walkable from the house if you are in good shape, but also a quick couple minute drive to get in as well. The living room begged us to watch movies at night, it was so cozy and inviting. The kitchen was filled with yummy treats, coffees, tea, cocoa and all the supplies you need. A lovely gift basket with snacks and homemade liquor was such a delightful surprise. The bedrooms were very comfortable and ac worked great when it was warm. The outside dining area was so beautiful, our coffees in the morning and our dinners in the evening were spent in the beautiful surroundings of nature. The host went above and beyond, wonderful recommendations and instructions. I hope someday we can return to this magical place.

From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the unbeatable location of this home. Being directly on the lake, the views are nothing short of magical. Waking up in the morning and looking out over the water from the bedroom felt like something out of a dream — peaceful, serene, and impossibly beautiful. The lake was quite literally at our doorstep. The home itself was spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and full of charm. Every little detail was taken care of, and we felt instantly at ease. A special shoutout to our host, who went above and beyond when we realized last minute that we had forgotten to include our mother-in-law as a guest. It was entirely our oversight, and yet the host was kind, understanding, and incredibly accommodating. That kind of graciousness makes all the difference when you’re traveling. We can’t say enough good things about this place — the comfort, the views, the hospitality. If you’re lucky enough to find availability here, book it. Can’t wait to return

Our stay exceeded expectations – the accommodation was even nicer than in the photos, clean, and very comfortable. The location was perfect: close to shops, bars, and restaurants, yet quiet enough to relax and get a good night’s sleep. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily come back:)

Absolutely wonderful stay and amazing host. The apartment was exactly as described and the views and location were perfect. We loved sitting on the balcony, looking over the water and watching and hearing the people below. There are 2 wine bars just outside the door and also many restaurants. Alberto picked us up at the station and explained the apartment and area. Giorgio’s kindness was immeasurable. The trains had unexpectedly stopped running and he personally booked our transportation back to Milan and drove us to meet a new express bus. We could have never done this without him, as this was unpublished at the time. What a wonderful man! Varenna is a beautiful small village and there are many outstanding restaurants and things to do. Our highlight was taking a cooking class with Chef Marco, Chef’s Table, and later dining at his new restaurant, La Scarpetta. We recommend visiting the villas in town, taking the Taxi Boat to Villa Balbianello and hiking to the waterfall in Fiumelatte.

My husband and i stayed here on our honeymoon and it was our favourite place. The hosts were so incredibly warm and welcoming. From communicating before we arrived about the strikes and train issues to helping us book our transportation home and having the most lovely gift and hand painted welcome card for our honeymoon upon our arrival it was all heavenly. They are the kindest humans. The views from the apartment are stunning and the private location is a quick walk away from town - it’s nice not to be in tourist central! There are also private beaches for lake access and the best restaurant across the street. It was all a dream and we will definitely be back!!

I highly recommend everyone to stay in this house. It has the most beautiful little garden in Brienz. It is a happy thing to lie here for an afternoon, and it is very quiet and convenient for transportation. Although it is next to the train station, it will not be noisy at all!!It's💯 a 100% residence!

Great stay & location !

We very much enjoyed our stay in Como at Silvia's apartment. Everything was as described and we really appreciated helpful advice about parking, enjoying the town, and travel around the lake. We wholeheartedly agree with earlier reviewer: everything about the apartment and amazing view 10/10. Kitty 11/10. Be prepared to surpass your goals on steps/flights of stairs climbed per day :-)

I would give this place ten stars if I could! The view is amazing. The place was just like the pictures and it was nice to have a little kitchenette. Gianluca was so kind and a great host! Definitely would recommend!

Wishlist! In terms of value for money, we rarely do better. Christelle is gentle, smiling and kind. The accommodation is clean, the linen smells very good. She has very appreciable small touches, such as preparing the air conditioning before your arrival or putting some drinks in the fridge, or even offering goodies. No neighbors, no intrusions. If you need anything, she is still available and very responsive. Special mention for the garden and the very Balinese environment. 😍I would come back for sure.

Danielle met us right in front of the property and was very welcoming with instructions for everything and a local welcome gift (pasta & wine). The place is charming and immaculately clean..I would come back time and time again and would highly recommend this to friends and family. Pictures do not do justice to this 180 degree lake view. The meticulous and fragrant garden enhance the appeal of this place. One can tell that Danielle cares a lot about his place and particularly his guests. We had a great time!

We enjoyed the first minute. The gite is very quietly located between the fields. The view around was impressive. Edith and her husband live on the same estate, but after the introduction, you won't be bothered by that. On the contrary, they are there when you need them. The cottage has everything you need to stay there for a longer period of time. Outside, you have 2 fantastic terraces that ensure you can sit in the sun or shade at any time of the day. You can take fantastic bike rides and walks in the region. In the cottage itself, there are maps with marked walks/bike rides. We really recommend this cottage, I would go again..

We were warmly greeted by Alain and Clair on arrival – they couldn’t have been more welcoming, and their kindness really set the tone for our stay. The setting was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful, a real escape from the hustle and bustle. The highlight for us was sitting and looking out at the river and waterfall right next to the property – the view was stunning and the sound of the water was so soothing. We left feeling completely relaxed and recharged. Highly recommended!

The stay was great from A to Z. Fortunately, we were always able to be outside and enjoy the beautiful terrace.

It was a great stay, the house is super cozy, the place is super quiet for those looking for relaxation and peace. A great garden, and a jacuzzi. I would like to highlight the reception of Mrs. Ilda, who was very friendly. A house and place I recommend to everyone!

An unforgettable place, ideal for recharging your batteries. The "private" beach is a plus, except that it would be nice to remove the old boats that are no longer in use. The house is perfect! Lourdes is very welcoming and attentive. I will not hesitate to pass this address on to my friends and family.

We had a great time at David's place for our honeymoon. He was very responsive whenever we had any problems and had lots of recommendations for the local area. We especially enjoyed the visits from his two dogs. Make sure to try the olive oil!

It is fantastically beautiful in the accommodation and on the huge estate. We had a separate garden and were also allowed to use the rest of the complex, including the lake, swimming pool, disc golf course, various walking paths. The property is much larger than we could imagine in the pictures. We are completely in love and can recommend it 1000 percent. The host is super friendly There are no wishes left unfulfilled.

This place is truly one of a kind. Simply the most exceptional place I have been to. Great restaurants nearby, directly accessible by boat. We just loved cruising around the lake with the small motor boat, it made everything feel more special. The place itself is unique, as only very few houses are available in Santa Margherita. Lots of birds to watch, but the icing on the cake was all the fireflies at night that sparkle in the dark, really magical. But above all, Mattia was the friendliest, most helpful host and made everything nice and comfortable for us.
