Kuriyu Sansō is a small mountain lodge nestled in a forest at an altitude of about 1,000 meters in the foothills of the Southern Alps, overlooking the Yatsugatake Mountains. In this place, where a clear stream flows, we have established a way of living that is independent of conventional utilities and operates in harmony with nature and a closed-loop system. We have incorporated systems that make use of nature as much as possible, including hot water supplied by a wood-fired boiler, underfloor heating, the use of well water, and a bio-geofilter that returns wastewater to the soil.It's not a finished space, but a “work in progress” that is evolving through trial and error with my friends. As you build a fire with firewood and spend time by the flowing water, your primal, human senses are sharpened.I hope you can experience the feeling that comes from that quiet time here in Kurio's forest.
