We do not have television or hot running water; our bathroom is a cozy outhouse.

Red John’s cabin In 2017 Red Johns cabin was placed on Alaska’s 10 most endangered historic properties list by the AAHP. In 2018/2019 this adorable cabin was restored with help from Alaska’s Historic Preservation Fund. Great spot near Talkeetna center. Comfy bed and great to have laundry! We had a nice night here. It’s about 8-10 min drive to the main restaurants and shops, so make sure you have a car if you stay her. Definitely a small bathroom (as mentioned in other reviews), so just know that going in! Would stay here again.

Loved this lakeside getaway! Definitely check out the host’s recommendations, Flying Squirrel Bakery/Cafe and Spinach Bread were highlights of the trip. Be aware this is a downstairs space so if the host is around you will hear normal living sounds (i.e. footsteps, music, etc.) but this was never a problem for us as it was always quiet during sleeping hours. It’s a beautiful location and feels very homey, the kitchen is lovely and set up well. The outdoor setup is great if you catch nice weather (it rained the whole time we were there). Perfect for a solo or pair of travelers looking to relax and still be near plenty of things to do. I would book it for a longer stay next time!

“The Glamping Loft”- glorified “dry” camping!

Peggy is very hospitable. The loft has adequate supplies in the kitchenette to cook in the microwave. No need to be running to the store for salt, paper towels etc. Due to snow we stayed 2 days instead of 1. We loved it. The view from the outhouse is the peaceful woods. Very nice outhouse.

This place was a hidden gem - it was like camping, but with modern amenities 😉 the space was perfect for 4 adults! Loved the open floor space with the gorgeous outdoor view! The sauna was a major cherry on top plus! Liz was great with communication - her clear directions and timely responses made the check in process so smooth and easy! Anyone passing through on their Alaska trip, this is a place you won’t want to miss!
