In winter, the straw bales piled up after the rice harvest create a winter wonderland in the rice terraces. Iruka Onsen (Takisuiso): A hot spring facility located downstream of the beautiful Takisuigawa Gorge. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the Kitayama River from the open-air bath. 2. Yunokuchi Onsen: A secret hot spring surrounded by the nature of Kumano. You can enjoy the hot spring baths fed directly by the source spring. 3. Fuden Oroshi: You can experience the mysterious morning fog from fall to spring. 4. Maruyama Senmaida: A beautiful terraced rice field with about 1,340 rice fields, with seasonal changes as its charm. 5. Kazeden Toge: You can walk along a beautiful rural landscape and mossy cobblestone paths. 6. Yokogake Pass: A pilgrimage road to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine. Founded in 1957, my grandfather, Eiichi Tanuchi, ran an inn called Aiwasho for the cultural development of Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. In order to continue to protect its history and traditions, his granddaughter, Kiushuko, reopened the inn under its original name in 2021. Built on the site of Ueno Castle, this inn is a traditional Japanese house with tatami mats on the floor. Please relax in one of the two Japanese-style rooms. The inn is located on a hill overlooking the city of Tanabe, so you can enjoy the morning sun, sunset, and night view. On a calm day, we recommend having tea in a wicker chair on the edge of the hinoki cypress wooden deck, which was made in the image of the moon viewing platform of the Katsura Imperial Villa. The newly installed bath and toilet are spacious and barrier-free, so you can bathe together or use them easily even if you need assistance. We installed popin.aladdin (lighting with projector) in one of the Japanese-style rooms. It projects on the sliding doors You can watch TV, music, movies, etc. Enjoy BGM on YouTube before you go out in the morning. My parents, Kisaku and Shuko Tanai (Japanese), live next to the house, so please let me know if you need anything.

Tenjinzaki is an inn within a 15-minute walk to Tenjinzaki, which is called Uyuni Salt Lake in Wakayama. Although it is also famous for its haunted fishing spots, Tenjinzaki is famous for the beautiful reflection of the water accumulated in the rocky reef, making it a view like Uyuni Salt Lake. It's a popular place to take beautiful photos. It has also been selected as the "100 Sunsets and Sunsets in Wakayama Prefecture" by the Wakayama Prefecture Tourism Federation, and the sunset over the offshore is very beautiful. You can enjoy three bedrooms, multiple families, friends, clubs, etc. You can feel close to nature in Tenjinzaki. Ogahama, where you can enjoy swimming in the summer, is a 10-minute drive. Guest House Agae is a renovated traditional house that can only accommodate one group at a time. It is in a very convenient location, about 550 m (about 7 minutes on foot) to Kumano Kodo and Kinkou Oji, a supermarket (A-COOP), a bus stop (Kodo Aruki no Sato Chikatsuyu), and restaurants (Shoji Teahouse and Tororo-ya). The owner is a local Kumano Kodo guide, so we will do our best to accommodate your questions and advice about walking the Kumano Kodo, as well as pick-up and drop-off when you need it. We can also provide personal guides, so please let us know. Prices do not include meals. 1 minute walk from Shingu Station. 2 minutes from the bus stop. It is a Japanese-style house with a small Japanese courtyard. You can try on valuable samurai armor, helmets, and bridal gowns (kimono)for free. The house is reserved for a group of 3 or more people per day. Please relax as if you were at home. We usually accept up to 8 people, but we can accommodate up to 10 people on request. There is a convenience store in front of the house, which is very convenient.

"Genki House", a house near Kumano Hongu-Taisha

It’s a house 8km from the Hongu Taisha. (about 15 minutes' drive) If you have a car it's more convenient, but if not I'll be happy to drive you to and from a bus stop or a tourism spot in Hongu area. My family run an organic farm, bakery, NPO offering long-stay for the youth, and an alternative school for children nearby. You'll have some loaves of bread from our bakery(^^)/ （If you don't eat bread please let me know beforehand)

"MINE-no-Yado" Mine own house is a small Japanese style cottage in Mine village where includes Takijiri-oji, the entrance to the sacred mountains of Kumano. The house is at an elevation of 300m. You can enjoy a panoramic view of Kumano mountains, a wonderful starry night and even sea of clouds.
