The Sassi of Matera constitute the historic center of the city of Matera. The Sasso "Caveoso" and the Sasso "Barisano", together with the "Civita" district, form a complex urban nucleus. The Sassi are really a cultural landscape, to cite the definition with which they were accepted in the Unesco World Heritage. With the name "Sassi" in Matera we mean two large districts that make up, together with the "Civita" and the "Piano", the historical center of the city of Matera. The declension in the plural, therefore, derives from this duplicity and not, as many believe, from the fact that a house or a room within these districts is called "stone". Tour del Sasso Caveoso: durata: 2h, adulti: 15,00 euro invece che 20,00 bambini 7 - 17 anni: 3,00 bambini 0 - 6 anni: gratis. Il tour parte da Piazza Pascoli (distante solo 150 mt dalle Ferule casa vacanza), da qui una Guida Autorizzata, Vi accompagnerà nei suggestivi vicoli dei Sassi, conducendoVi all'interno di una Chiesa Rupestre, ottenuta interamente scavando nella roccia calcarea; - una casa grotta tipicamente arredata, esempio di abitazione rurale; - il bottegaccio di un artigiano locale che produce le sue opere in tufo e argilla; alla fine del tour vi aspetta una degustazione di prodotti tipici lucani.
