This is another FREE hotspot, drive to Waiotapu Loop Road head past Wai-o-tapu Geothermal Park about 1 minute on you'll find a small bridge, usually you will spot a few cars parked on the side of the road. There are steps down into the river, take a cold beverage and enjoy meet some locals or other travellers. This is where a hot and cold stream meets, so find your perfect spot but remember it's an organic experience you are in a natural environment. We always recommend that you don't immerse your head under the water - as the hot water isn't treated. Leave valuables (money, passport, cameras etc) behind or locked safely in your car, just take the bare minimum with you for your swim i.e. water bottle, snacks, swimwear, towel and jandals (aka flip flops, thongs). CAUTION: this is a natural geothermal area and the river floor can be extremely HOT, be aware of this.

This is one of my favourite places - a hot and cold stream meet in a natural setting. No cost. 30 min drive.

where 2 rivers meet, park beside bridge and walk under. Bathe in the warm river, don't get burnt - it's free, and fun and like no other!
