This neighbourhood is the very place where the Beatles story began. In July 1957, 15-year-old Paul McCartney was introduced first time to 16-year-old John Lennon by a mutual friend. John performed with his band The Quarrymen at a garden fete at St Peter Church. Just around the corner there is a plaque reminding of this meeting. On the graveyard itself, the grave of Eleanor Rigby featured in the 1966 Beatles’ song can be found.

Eleanor Rigby buried here, home of the original Woolton fete with the Quarrymen.. Wonderful for Beatles fans in lovely Woolton village
