This is a great place to walk or go for a bike ride. It is across from the Wharf. You can see planes coming in to National Airport.

Take a bike and find your way here, with some food and drinks (maybe even grab my navy picnic backpack from the clothes closet!) Watch the planes land across the river at DCA (Reagan airport) and the bikers whiz by you, and contemplate your existence. Especially mesmerizing during cherry blossom season.

Hains Point is located at the southern tip of East Potomac Park between the main branch of the Potomac River and the Washington Channel in southwest Washington, D.C. The land on which the park is located is sometimes described as a peninsula but is actually an island: the Washington Channel connects with the Tidal Basin north of the park and the Jefferson Memorial. The park has tennis courts, picnic areas, golf courses, fishing, bicycling and a playground for the kids.

NPS maintains East Potomac Park, Hains Point is on the tip at the confluence of the Washington Channel and Potomac and Anacostia Rivers. Usually nice breeze and views. Also nice drive or bike ride down there, especially when cherry blossoms are out.
