An exceptional stay in Taketa, Taiji Ryokan. Thank you so much to Taiji and her mom for the welcome, attention to every detail and for the exceptional cuisine. The onsen is just magical, the location is perfect for hiking in the Aso park or on Mount Sobo (provide a car though). We hope to return someday!

The host was polite and quick to respond, so I never felt anxious during my stay! The room was just like the photos in the listing, and it was a wonderful Japanese-style room!I was impressed by the spaciousness of the Japanese-style room. It's like a large hall in a ryokan, where you can relax and unwind! What made me even happier was that the whole room was air-conditioned!It was really helpful to be able to stay comfortably in any room on a hot day.The room is well cared for with attention to detail, and it is also clean!

Soba noodle Homestay, feel Japanese rural life

BrianaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This was a fantastic stay. We were folded right in with the family, which was very fun. The food was excellent; we enjoyed the demonstration of making our own soba. Any time we needed anything, Karin was so responsive and helpful. We especially appreciate her ability to speak English, which made everything so easy for us. Highly recommended!

Shimonoseki TK (Take) Base 202

GabrielRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Superb stay at Takenaka’s place (TK Base). We had a group of 7 adults and 2 kids (4yo and 1yo) the house is huge and it fits us all! Each room has its TV and there are lots of common spaces (huge living room with huge TV, a comic reading area with chairs, and most importantly, 2 showers! The amenities were well equipped, and it feels like home. The host just lives next door so he was able to help out anytime during our stay. He is super friendly when we arrived and he gave us a warm welcome to his place. It is at the top of a hill in the nearby area. The place worth every penny. However, I would only recommend it to people who will be driving. Otherwise it would be too remote to go there. Thank you Takenaka for your arrangement.

Temple of Japan

Rating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Absolutely amazing stay!Mr. Koji took care of the space spotlessly clean, really clean, and thoughtfully arranged, and as soon as he entered the temple, he felt relaxed and pleasant. You can also see that the planting of the courtyard in the temple is well taken care of, and the mood will be pleasant. In the morning, there will be work at the temple at seven o'clock, and you will hear the noise of sacrificial rituals such as the slight drums, but it does not affect the rest, but instead there is a feeling of mental purification, alternatively experiencing part of Japanese culture. Also due to the proximity of the accommodation to the lane, there were occasional car noises at night or people passing by to talk, but basically there are not many people here who do not interfere with sleep. Thank you Mr. Koji for your kindness in informing Saga of the temporary change of the festival and the spark conference, so we have the opportunity to enjoy the festival, watch the fireworks and drone performances, which is really touching!I personally drove us to the station when checking out, although the accommodation is a little far from the city, there are many buses and convenient transportation, and there are also shrines, ruins, and shopping malls nearby.Recommended for everyone to stay!

100 points for the house, brand new renovation, very spacious, feels very comfortable. It's a short walk to Aso Shrine, about 30 to 40 minutes to the volcano, and the location is good.If I have the chance next time, I will choose this house again!Absolutely recommend! It would be a plus if the kitchen had some simple condiments.
