Cottage holiday rentals in Vandalia

Wow, what a gem! This place was charming, spacious, neat, with a great backyard and conveniently situated within 15 minutes of anything you could need or want. This is not your bare minimum cut and paste Airbnb—the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable and luxurious, the decor was unique, the space was toddler friendly, and the kitchen was very well stocked. A great stay for a group overall, we’ll be back!

Easy check-in and felt right at home. Jennifer was always responsive to messages. She also gave great suggestions for food etc. The house is located perfectly for walking to the beach, market, restaurants, coffee. It is also a great location for quick travels to New Buffalo, Three Oaks, Michigan City and more. We will visit again for sure!

We loved our stay! The cottage was so cute and very clean. It is in a residential area, but still feels very private. The neighborhood was quiet. The outside/backyard area is amazing. We could walk everywhere (restaurants, shops, beach, market, etc…). We did not get into our car once from when we parked it until we left. Nancy was so nice to work with. She called us on our way there to let us know the hot tub motor was not working. That was not a big deal us, but she was proactive in telling us and she had it fixed by the next day. We would 100% recommend staying here and might book it again ourselves.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The hosts were incredibly hospitable and flexible, making everything so easy and welcoming from start to finish. This home holds a lot of sentimental value for our family — we spent many years vacationing in this area growing up — and it meant so much to be able to return to the area and create new memories in such a beautiful, well-kept space. We couldn’t be more grateful and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing, meaningful getaway.

We had a great time staying at Amy's place! It is the perfect size for a couple. It feels very cozy and like you are actually staying at someone's home vs. the sterile Airbnbs that are owned by corporate entities these days. The property is as described. It is very private, yet close to everything! I would recommend staying here if you're in the area.

We had a quick two night stay while visiting the area. The house was as listed and we had a great time. We loved the hot tub and the indoor space. Comfortable seating in the living area while we waited out the rain. There is a train that travels close by but otherwise had a great stay!

Very peaceful to stay put here--bring what you need and stay in these beautiful surroundings among birds and gardens and an art-filled home. Or spend time on nearby beaches and trails, wander the nearby small-town shops and nice variety of restaurants and look forward to a hot tub soak and campfire. Donna's home is welcoming and inspiring!

Llamas were great! the peaceful getaway we needed. its right next to the best dog park (with a beach) ive ever been to! we will be going back and cannot wait to see the little baby Llama all grown up. Robert was a great host!

The Place was clean and quiet. Beautiful trees surround the area. I am familiar with the New Buffalo and Union pier area. It was right in the middle of all the Restaurants. Sunroom was a great hang out. Yard was a large and private space to hang out and get a fire going. Of course, the koi fish was an extra bit of enjoyment, watching them. Would highly recommend this rental.

very clean studio right on the water. Nice having a dock to park our boat. Had some snacks and a nice welcoming note for us and our dogs : ) . Were able to cook meals , but also nice restaurants to go to if you chose not to. Would definitely stay again and will be back

We really enjoyed our stay at John’s place. House was super clean and comfortable. Loved the outside porch set up as well as ability to dine outside in bark yard. We always enjoy this area as the hiking for our dog is amazing.

Review..... Host Annette was very accommodating and fast response. The home is a very quaint cottage with every amenity we needed. There are many water toys (peddle boat, kayak, paddle board) and life jackets. My grandchildren enjoyed fishing and swimming. But, the best part is the amazing view. Even saw a deer in the lake! Great location in Union Pier and walkable to the lake and small downtown. Great house to spend a week or long weekend, Keith was super helpful and responsive.

Great neighborhood, quiet and cozy! Easy to find and close enough to everything we wanted to do. The backyard was beautiful and we loved being able to relax with the dog. Cute house and friendly hosts.

Good location! Cute stay :) Great food and dunes nearby! Perfect for stargazing! FYI the weather was pretty chilly in May!

Can’t say much more than what’s already been said, although we decided this is the exact type of house we’d love to build some day, and we hope to stay at Jean’s and Van Auken Lake again and again. Jean was also extraordinarily communicative and helpful as we found our bearings. We loved coming home to the Aframe after our days exploring the area and spending time with family nearby.

We loved staying at Michael's place. The setting is beautiful and private, and the cottage had exactly what we needed. Michael was a great host - responsive and willing to help.

We loved this great cottage on the lake! Everything was perfect when we arrived and getting in was super easy. We were in town for graduation at Culver Academies, so our schedule was jam packed. That was unfortunate because we would have loved to have spent more time relaxing at the cottage and playing on the lake. This place was so nice that my kids were wanting to know why we don't own a lake cottage! :) Thanks for making this the perfect stay for a short weekend!

I had a perfect stay at Sharon’s cottage. It had everything I needed for a comfy, cozy weekend. The cottage was clean and charming and well stocked. Couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and relaxing spot!

This property was phenomenal. It had amazing interior, beautiful kitchen, great view of the lake and plenty of parking for our employees. Jonathan was fantastic with communication and very helpful during our whole stay. Our employees loved the property and we will definitely be staying here again if we have work again in the area.
