"De Gulle pracht" Holiday home, Friesland

Our cozy vacation cottage, originally was an old stable that we (Caroline and Jan) converted together, with lots of love and respect for the old details and materials, into this "Gulle Pracht". Through a private driveway with parking, you reach the terrace with the spacious garden, a lawn with surrounding tall trees, where you can enjoy. Through the two French doors, you step into the bright and cozy living room with the white old beams and a fully equipped open kitchen. There is wireless internet available, TV and DVD. Because of the ceiling in the living room that has been removed, beautiful light falls in from the skylights and you have a view of the roof structure with the old round hoods. The beds are located on top of the two lofts. The comfortable double bed is accessed by an open staircase. The other loft, where a third or fourth bed can possibly be made, is only accessible by flexible guests via a ladder. It is not suitable for small children because of the danger of falling, but older children find it exciting to sleep there. Please note, the two lofts share the same large open space. Under the old beams, you can sleep peacefully, where only the sound of rustling trees, whistling birds or your deliciously snoring bedmate will be heard. The room is heated by central heating, but also only the wood-fired stove can heat the cottage comfortably. You will be provided with enough wood from us to start a cozy fire. Through an old stable door in the living room, you come to the bathroom with beamed ceiling and underfloor heating. The bathroom has a good shower, double sink and toilet. With its inlaid mosaics and all kinds of funny and old details, this space is also a feast for the eyes. There are two bicycles available for nice trips in the wider area (Harlingen, Franeker Bolsward). We may want to drop you off in Harlingen for a crossing to Terschelling. You can leave the car in our yard for a while. We, ourselves, live in the farmhouse which is in the same yard. We are available for help, information and advice for fun trips in our beautiful Friesland. Your cottage and our farmhouse are separated by our garden and the big old barn (with pool table), so we both have our own space and privacy. Kimswerd, located on the eleven city route is a small, quiet and beautiful village where our Frisian hero "de Grutte Pier" was born and lived. He still watches over us, in petrified form, at the beginning of our little street, next to the centuries-old Church, which is very much worth visiting as well. You can do your shopping in Harlingen, the supermarket is a fifteen minute bike ride away. The old port of Harlingen is 10 km from our cottage. Kimswerd is located just across the Afsluitdijk. From there, follow the signs N31 Harlingen/Leeuwarden/Zurich and take the first exit at Kimswerd, 1st right at the traffic circle, 1st right again at the next traffic circle, straight ahead at the intersection, across the bridge and immediately take the first left (Jan Timmerstraat). At the beginning of this street, next to the church, stands the statue of the Grutte Pier. We live in the farmhouse behind the church, Jan Timmerstraat 6, first wide gravel path on the right. - For small children, sleeping on the loft without a fence is not advisable because of the danger of falling. It's just fun for big kids, the loft is accessible by a ladder. Please note, it is 1 large open space upstairs with no privacy.

De Oude Smederij

Enjoy and relax in the Frisian countryside? This is possible with us in De Oude Smederij, which was formerly a forge but has been completely renovated into a comfortable vacation home. The Oude Smederij is located in an agricultural area on the outskirts of the village of Arum (on the Elfsteden route) and is centrally located between Harlingen (on the Wadden Sea with ferry services to Vlieland and Terschelling), Franeker (Planetarium and Frisian Museum), Bolsward (Broerekerk) and Makkum, located on the IJsselmeer with boulevard and beach.

Stay at the goldsmith

The B&B/holiday home is located on the sunny side of our dike house, is 45 square meters in size, a sitting bedroom with double bed, a bathroom and a kitchen. TV and WiFi are provided. Private terrace is located on the garden side. The Wadden Sea is 1 km behind the house, there is no beach, The B&B is located on the mainland and not on one of the islands. NEW……. 1. TOURIST TAX FROM JANUARY 1, 2025 is 1 euro p/p per night, please pay upon arrival. 2. PRICE p/n in BB is 85 euros as of January 1, 2025.

Come and enjoy the peace, nature and views over the meadow. Our cozy Tiny house equipped with all the comforts. Dronrijp is a stone's throw away from Leeuwarden, Franeker and Harlingen, where you can make the crossing to the islands of Terschelling or Vlieland. Four-legged friends are welcome! There are fences around the garden. We live 12 meters from the stay. We have 2 sweet sheep, Cotton and Binkie, and 9 walking ducks. Please do not feed the bug (The swimming pool will be ready around mid-May)

Beautiful cottage with far-reaching views (hot tub)

Experience a varied holiday in this comfortable holiday home with 3 bedrooms (one barrier-free bedroom on the ground floor) in the best location with a view. On the ground floor there is the spacious dining and living room with wooden floors (underfloor heating), couch, smart TV and electric fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, stove, oven + microwave. The beds are made and towels are provided. A private hot tub with massage jets is available for use.

Between the green plains of the Friesche Menaldum you will find the uniquely built Tiny Farm House with veranda including hot tub. It is adjacent to a traditional 1880s farmhouse. Since 1980, farmer Folkert has run the dairy farm where 110 cows are milked. Relax in the hot tub or take a dip in the nearby swimming pond. Take the ferry to Terschelling or Vlieland for a day. Visit the capital Leeuwarden or hop on your bike and explore the area.

Harlingen Wijnaldum

If you want to look for a little more hustle and bustle, then visit the port of Harlingen. In Harlingen you can go to the beach, take the ferry to Vlieland and Terschelling, enjoy the view of the harbors, go shopping, get money and eat. Okkingastate Farm

A lovely place to get away from it all. The old barn on the property of our organic dairy farm has been completely restored and modernized. In the attic, under the old beams, you can spend the night and stay in luxury. If you need more space, you can also use the space downstairs, on request. Outside, there is always a nice spot to sit in the sun or shade or to be active. After all, there is always something to do on a farm! Welcome.
