Restful peaceful and quiet my house is set in the forest yet close to town. I have another room listed separately "Comfy single room with kauri tree view." Wake to the sound of native birds calling and see pigeons - kereru - tui and fantails as they dip and glide over the house. Kiwi call at night and sometimes come to your window. Please note that the house is about a 40 minute walk from the bus stop. I might be able to pick you up. Contact me. Come take your load off and refresh.
“Highly recommend. A cosy bright house backing onto beautiful NZ Bush. We are still talking about hearing the kiwi outside our room. Homemade touches for breakfast. Bathroom perfection. Julie is a great host, perfect balance of welcoming us to her home yet ensuring we had ample privacy for our stay.”
Very suitable for self-isolation as we have just added cooking facilities. A small and warm modern cabin with an amazing view over the sea to the Poor Knights Islands. The cabin enjoys all day sun and is well insulated. It has a King bed and a small table and chairs. Handy for Sandy Bay surf beach and other beautiful beaches.
“The view from this little cabin is STUNNING... really amazing location, just a few minutes to the beach or a nice long walk. We stayed during a storm and the road down to the beach was blocked with trees, which was very unusual, but made it even nicer to make the walk and the owner stopped in both days to make sure we were OK and had everything we needed. Thank you. We both really enjoyed the three paintings in the cabin, which were all painted by the owner. There is a long drop, which wasn't a problem for us but should be noted in case its raining, there is a short walk outside to use the toilet for solid waste. We were able to use the little port-potty for liquid waste at night etc. Again, beautiful, beautiful view from the windows... lovely stay. Julie and Steve”
The Cottage at Wai Rua, west of Whangarei, is approximately 18 minutes drive from Kamo via Pipiwai Road. It is a hidden gem with amazing rural views, including massive volcanic rocks, lakes and ponds, set in a beautiful tranquil garden. It can be a getaway retreat or stopover.
“From the moment my partner and I arrived at Wai Rua, we were greeted by happy chickens and pigs. As we made our way to the cottage, we were met by Elaine and Allen. Both were incredibly welcoming and showed us where the hot tub was, and gave us some tips for exploring the property (sadly the weather didn’t allow this). The cottage was immaculately kept and had lots of little touches, including breakfast supplies (bacon, fresh off the farm eggs, bread and homemade muesli). The surroundings are nice and rustic, making for a nice time to unwind, whether it was in the wood fired hot tub or with a book outside the cottage. Overall, this was a 10/10 experience.”
