Mama-San and Papa-San are some of the best people I’ve met. They are very kind and very personable. I felt like I was at home or at my grandparents house. They gave me great recommendations on things to do in the area. They treated us like family. I would go back in a heartbeat. They also have great food

SARUYA HOSTEL - Renovated Kominka Hostel - Japanese-style Family Room #6

PolRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
It was a bit confusing finding the place since the entrance was covered but when we finally found it, we realized it was just in front of the famous Honcho Street!!! It was the perfect location as it was close to the Shimoyoshida station and the Pagoda view of Mt.Fuji. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! The vibe is so unique! 100/100! Clean space especially the shower and bath rooms.

Kakurinbo - Buddhist temple stay 3

JeffRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Traveling to remote mountainous locations, well away from the bustle of a city can be daunting for travelers. However, the incredible team at Kakurinbo Buddhist Temple is exceptional in every way. They truly made our trip to Kakurinbo quite incredible. Saeko, Sho, and the many other wonderful team members are special in their ability to help you feel so comfortable and at home in their temple accommodations. We are eager to return for sure.

SARUYA HOSTEL - Renovated Old House Hostel - Japanese-style Family Room # 3

ChristineRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We absolutely loved it here. We had the family room, which was large and very comfortable for the three of us. This place was beautiful, and so comfortable. Everyone was super nice and helpful and the location could have not been better! We rented e-bikes near the train station and biked up a mountain and then around the lake at the base of mountain fugi. It only took three hours and cost 1500y per person. There’s a shrine just down the road from the hostel that is also awesome. The local restaurants, only a few blocks away from the hostel were intimate and the food was incredible. The views of mt fugi from the second you step outside was my favorite part. What an incredible experience! I wish we had planned to stay there longer than our two nights. It was some of the best sleep I’ve had on our trip yet!

SARUYA HOSTEL - Renovated Kominka Hostel - Japanese-style Large Room #2

JackRating, 5 stars2 months ago
I really like this place! Amazing location, kind staff, cheap bicycle rentals, super clean and very aesthetic vibe! My only complaint is that if there was AC i couldn’t find it and the place is a little expensive. I think it’s expensive cause of its convenient location literally on Honcho street where the famous pictures with Fuji-San are taken, so i understand. Regardless this is a very very nice place!!

Retreat Resort Wild nature, private room and onsen

JannaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
From the moment we arrived, we felt the “peace” that this place is named after. The traditional Japanese sleeping rooms and the untouched, pure nature embraced us right away. The two hosts, Jun (who also offers tours to explore the surrounding shrines and learn more about the local history – which we joined and highly recommend) and Kimi, took care of us with genuine warmth and authenticity. The dinner was also incredibly delicious and authentically Japanese. In the evening you can enjoy the private onsen with Fuji spring water - a very soothing, healing experience. All in all – a clear 10/10, especially for those looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and tourism. This place offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, disconnect, and experience the mystical side of Japan. Transportation to and from the accommodation was well organized – we were kindly driven by the hosts. Thank you again for your wonderful hospitality – we’ll definitely be back!

If you are concerned about the lack of reviews like I was before then theres no need to worry! This hotel room was the best airbnb I’ve been at before. However, would only recommend if you have a car. The room was brand new. Complimentary wine bottle, beers and snacks. Spacious, luxurious and modern. Warm foot bath on the balcony with a view (not breathtaking but a view nonetheless). Massive bath and toilet, with hotspring bath with adjustable water heat. And a sauna (although we didnt get to use)! Free parking with plenty of spaces. Self-check in easily. Only regret was not spending more time there. Although it is on the more expensive side being a hotel, definitely worth it to wind down from the hustle and bustle of the city.

E141 The location of Mt. Kawaguchiko is very good, Hoshino resort next door (Japanese-style room 14 Mt.Fuji view and lake view side) Rental bath during the opening

LydiaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Really nice, it's good to be in a quiet neighborhood, but I think it's better to have a car, especially for dinner in the evening, because very few or no restaurants are open in the evening in this area and the hostel does not offer dinner or breakfast. The room offers a beautiful view of Mount Fuji with the lake in the foreground, it is spacious, clean, you feel good there. There is an onsen that can be privatized in the evening, which is a real plus.

NW14 The location of Mt. Fuji is very good, Hoshino Resort is next door to Hoshino Resort (and room 14 great view of the back mountain)

We had an amazing experience here! The view of Mt Fuji is just amazing. Very peaceful and and we loved having the common space with coffee and tea available. Very relaxing. The bath was also so amazing. I wasn’t feeling all that great from allergies when getting there but the bath helped me relax and feel so much better! Our host was very kind and accommodating. He helped us with everything — setting up the time for the bath, setting up a taxi, answering all our questions, and helping us with our very heavy luggage! Highly recommend. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!
