Houseboat holiday rentals in Africa

We had an awesome experience in the house boat and the kids loved it. The weekend was just to short. Will definitely be back and for an even longer stay.

We loved our stay aboard the self-piloted Port Alfred houseboat on the Kowie River. The surroundings were beautiful & peaceful and it was an amazing experience. The hosts were excellent, especially Johan who was the instructor for the course to obtain the temporary skipper's certificate of competence.

We had a fantastic time on Galloping Waters--excellent service, good food, lovely environment. The staff was very responsive and helpful, and great with the kids (4 kids, ages 10,9, and 6(x2)). The on-deck pool provided for hours of small person entertainment.

what an awesome experience!! Julia is a great host, everything was explained well and easy to understand. what a bucket list experience and highly recommend visiting! super close to the waterfront with great restaurants and the mall is close by. secure parking for your car is also available so you don't have to worry. nothing beats waking up to the sunrise on a houseboat! wifi, hot water and all the amenities of a normal house just on the water, so awesome!

This place was an amazing stay. I couldn’t believe how the boat stood out in the harbor and it was so beautiful and romantic and peaceful. It was exactly what my wife and I needed wow thank you oh and it was actually better than the pictures. I couldn’t believe it.

We had a wonderful stay. Tamer was very responsive and helpful. The views are breathtaking and the houseboat is beautiful and spacious, even when sharing with guests in up to 3 other rooms. Caretaker Mahmoud is very welcoming and accommodating and the other staff was kind and made a beautiful breakfast in the morning. Great value for money and would recommend to anyone staying in Elephantine Island. The free boat pick up from the mainland at check-in is a great additional service.

Pour la vue, l'emplacement, le calme, la terrasse supérieure, je met 12/10, exceptionnel. Pour le logement, construit façon bricolage "à la Sénégalaise", bof, pas terrible, pour le prix. Mais la vue depuis la terrasse supérieure sur le Saloum et ses oiseaux est vraiment exceptionnelle, elle vaut le tarif.

Emplacement extraordinaire, seules cabanes sur l'eau que nous ayons vues. Sentiment de seul au monde garanti ! Accueil impeccable par Ben et Aziz toujours dispos et réactifs. Nous nous sommes sentis chez nous avec une seule envie : y retourner !

Perfect place, if you are looking for something special in Kairo, location ans style-wise. Well-quipped and tasteful, clean, interesting vibe on the Nile. Communication with the hosts is very proactive, they care and give good recommendations. It is a bit adventurous to get there, as the door is a bit hidden, however someone is there to help you in a minute. Car noise is omnipresent in Cairo, but ear plugs are provided. We really enjoyed our stay in our cosy boat cabin, thank you!

Communication avec Shirly impeccable, réactive, amicale, toujours là pour répondre aux questions et aider. L’endroit est juste splendide et le coucher de soleil sur la terrasse du bateau le soir est sensationnel. Lever du soleil sur le rocher de Gibraltar possible si pas de nuage, moi, il pleuvait le matin ;-). La douche c’est assez spécial quand on n’a pas l’habitude ;-). Juste petit bémol: coupure d’électricité le matin de mon départ mais avec la clarté ça n’a pas vraiment gêné. Le petit déjeuner est juste royal… un régal. Parking sécurisé et facile, acces à Gibraltar à 10 min à pied, très bien situé. Bravo pour l’idée et merci pour l’accueil

On était si bien que nous sommes restées une nuit de plus. Aziz est formidable, la maison est le lieu propice au farniente et la slow Life sénégalaise. Faire du canoë dans les forêts de mangroves, des tours en calèche, refaire le monde et profiter de cet endroit calme et reposant sont les principales activités autour de ce petit coin de paradis. Notre départ fut difficile mais il fallait décoller pour d’autres aventures ! Aziz merci, à toi et à Ben et Awa pour tout, vraiment !

I can't say enough good things about our stay at Houseboat65. I was there with five other folks - a couple & their two kids (8 & 11) and another single person. We had the three apartments on the second floor — perfect. I got lucky and slept in a gorgeous three-room space surrounded by windows, which filled the room with light. We spent a lot of time on the Nile-facing porches, chatting and having cocktails. It felt like our own little slice of calm and peace in busy Cairo. Jerome and the amazing Marie (we love you, Marie!) were beyond responsive: anything we needed (and that wasn't much: these spaces are well-stocked) or any time we needed assistance with luggage, etc., they were there in a flash. Marie served as our driver and top-notch tour guide for two days and wow - we felt so comfortable and well-taken care of. She knows the city so well and didn't hesitate to take us to some very far-flung locations. We can't WAIT to tell our friends about our stay and hope we get to come back!

Au-delà de ce que nous aurions pu imaginer... Nous avons rencontré Azziz à l'embarcadère avant de prendre la pirogue, selon ses bonnes instructions (nom de piroguiers et indication de tarif). Puis Azziz nous a conduit sur ce lieu insolite, où nous étions déjà émerveillés par son emplacement et environnement. Expérience incroyable : superbe cabane flottante aux expériences variées au gré de la marée :) Ingrid (son épouse extraordinaire) nous a rejoint ensuite pour aller plus loin sur les informations utiles et relatives au séjour ; elle est d'une attention incroyable. Nous avons partagé des magnifiques moments ensemble au point de penser que nous nous connaissions depuis longtemps ! Nous avons passé 3 nuits et il nous a été difficile de nous remettre de cette expérience, tant la qualité des relations avec Azziz et sa famille, la douceur de vivre et l'environnement invitent à la détente et à l'émerveillement. Loved this place - really charming and full of character. Hosts were great too. A bit noisy during the night but then so is all of Cairo!
