Windy Hall is somewhere very special. High in the Pennines it offers one of the most magnificent views in England. You may want to stay and enjoy the views & seclusion, but we are also ideally placed for day trips to the Lake District, the magnificent cathedral city of Durham, and Hadrian's Wall. Limited parking and access at the house means parking is 240m from the house so we will give you and your luggage a lift up on arrival. But don't let this put you off; please just read our reviews!

Delightfully situated in the stunning North Pennines (AONB), mid-point on the C2C. Only 1/4 mile walk through the fields, is the quaint Garrigill village. Just 4 miles to the cobbled streets of Alston heritage town, you'll find country pubs, restaurants, an Artisan Bakery and an array of independent shops. Cosying up with you pup? A lovely purpose built annexe, with fitted kitchen to include washing machine,dishwasher,refridgerator,oven/hob and microwave.Lounge has TV with dvd,books and games,wi-fi,sofa-bed and French doors to garden with garden chairs/table and BBQ.The bedroom has a superking sized bed that can be unzipped and unlinked to make two singles if required and built-in wardrobes.Bathroom has shower over bath with basin and W.C.The property has underfloor heating and secure outside storage for bicycles etc.

Stunning views, superb cottage

We are a 5 minute drive to Alston (petrol, gift shops, pubs, pub food, home made gifts, spa/co-op, mini railway, bike hire, C2C, fishing, cycling). The Lake District, the Borders and the North East are just a drive away. The new build apartment sleeps 4 in 2 upstairs bedrooms (microwave, washer dryer, dishwasher, tv, DVD, wifi, parking, bike store). There’s a stunning view from every window including the shower room, there is no bath. We’re very rural the WiFi can be somewhat unreliable.

In the heart of the North of England you will find our accommodation set within an area of outstanding natural beauty. The rooms we offer have been designed with the explorer in mind, to use a base to explore the local surrounding area, the Lake District, Northumberland and Durham. We have had guests walking the Isaacs Tea Trail as well as cyclists doing the C2C. After a long day exploring the local area return to refresh yourself in our spacious bathroom complete with underfloor heating.

The Hideaway, in the centre of historic Alston

Ground floor apartment tucked away behind the town centre. Part of a converted 17th century listed building, the apartment is quiet and peaceful yet has immediate access to all the amenities of the town centre and road links. The apartment sleeps 2 adults and can accommodate an infant. The apartment is double glazed and benefits from gas central heating. Unlimited fibre wifi is provided together with Freesat TV. Access is pedestrian only but there is free parking just a few yards away.

Rose Lea Cottage Eden Valley & The Lake District

Rose Lea is a fully renovated 18th Century Cottage. The cottage is an idyllic escape nestled in the Eden Valley, the perfect base for exploring the Lake District or the Pennines. Temple Sowerby is a peaceful little village with sandstone buildings clustered around a beautiful village green, ringed by tall trees. The Rookery

After much research, I think this cottage was likely built somewhere in the 1500's. It has quirky uneven walls, VERY LOW BEAMS (TAKE CARE) upstairs made from sailing ships that travelled the world. There's no kitchen, but is a dining room with small fridge, microwave, air fryer, sink, kettle, crockery, cutlery and tea making things. *DOGS* Please keep dogs off the bed and furniture as the dog hairs just spread over everything in the washing machine.
