Erik is a wonderful host; accommodating our late arrival and guided us through everything in the home. The location is peaceful, near the first Churchill Barrier, an easy drive from Kirkwall and Tesco. Driveway is large for parking. Definitely recommend.

Cecily's cottage is outstanding, fully living up to the descriptions by other guests. The accommodation is warm and comfortable. Wifi works well, which is by no means guaranteed in such a rural location. Our holiday was blessed with good weather but the house was really well equipped for occasions when it was not. Altogether, our stay at 'Holly Bank' gave us a memorable first visit to Orkney. She is a delightful and thoughtful host.

Lounge/kitchen and bathroom downstairs, double bedroom upstairs, neat small garden and deck. Bright and airy, just like in the photos. Admirably clean throughout. Comfortable bed. Welcoming selection of books and games, also nice welcome pack of goodies. All kitchen staples were there, so no need to run to the shops for salt or Fairy liquid! The weather forecast was iffy, so Cathy provided logs and kindling for the log burner. It turned out that they were not needed: the heat pump did its job. We loved the cottage and St Margaret’s Hope, a small sleepy village near the ferry terminal. The cottage might not be suitable for more elderly guests as the stairs up to the bedroom are quite steep. The village might be too small and sleepy for others. Top marks for us though.
