Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Carmel-by-the-Sea

Sean's cottage is an absolute delight, we moved in as though it was our own home. Worth reading previous reviews mentioning building works next door. As we were prepared for this (they started 8am promptly Mon-Fri), also ants (which didn't show up) and the racoon in the bins (which did show up) none of this was an issue, and was reflected in the reduced rental. Sean was an excellent host, replied speedily to any queries, including calling a plumber for a minor problem. The cottage is the most homely of places, there's everything you could need, the kitchen is generously equipped and the beds are very comfortable. The pretty patio is full of flowers and birds. Since it was April, we were not outside in the evenings, but it seems noise is an issue with neighbours. There are polite but firm notices requesting no outside noise after 9pm which could be difficult on hot summer evenings. This was one of our favourite Airbnbs, the location is fabulous, so much to do, we were busy all the time

We came to Monterey for a wedding and were lucky to stay in this beautiful house for an extended weekend. It’s the cleanest and best-stocked Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. The kitchen is huge and has every gadget or accessory you might need—and it’s stocked with thoughtful extras like popcorn, s'mores supplies and coffee. The 4th bedroom is a little unique, but it worked perfectly for our group. It’s downstairs and isn’t accessible from inside the main house. You reach it by going down the steep driveway and a few stairs. It’s easy to find once you know it’s there, but challenging for someone with mobility issues. I spent about 5 minutes searching the top floor for it before calling the property manager—who was incredibly friendly & responsive. Everything was spotless, and the location is super convenient. We wish we had more time to enjoy the house, but we were busy celebrating with family and friends from around the world. We’ll definitely stay here again next time we visit Monterey!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hummingbird (and saw hummingbirds at the feeders in the back yard). There were 6 of us (including our 2 teenagers and my parents) and it was comfortable and peaceful. The garden in the back is a work of art! We loved looking at how beautiful everything was placed and masterfully pruned. Very lovely and reminded me of being in Japan. My 14-year old son said it was his favorite place because of the granola bars, Ramen, and hot chocolate Shiho graciously stocks for guests. And the kitchen had all the little things you wish you had when you’re away from home, like sandwich baggies and a plastic spoon for your lunch. We made all our meals and ate at home every night. She had everything we needed to make meals. Shiho is a lovely hostess and has thought through little things to make your stay pleasant. The sheets were so soft. Plenty of towels in the bathroom and everything was spotless. We felt at home and would love to stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay in Monterey, and Sean was an exceptional host from start to finish. He was incredibly responsive, always quick to reply to any questions, and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. His local tips were super helpful and made our trip even more enjoyable. The space was just as described: clean, well kept, and in a great location. Would definitely stay here again. Great place to stay - nice walks along the coast and just a few miles from Cannery Row. The place was very clean and has you feeling just like home. Would love to stay again in the future.

Our family had a wonderful time soaking in the spectacular mountain views and embracing nature’s beauty. We loved our unexpected encounters with the local deer family, watching quail cross the streets, and discovering fascinating California native plants. Surprise to find items we need in the pantry and refrigerator, made us feel right at home. The comfortable mattresses and bedding ensured a restful sleep, even with the mysterious sounds of the wild surrounding the house at night. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Our stay was wonderful. Our two girls especially did not want to leave. Everything was so comfortable and clean, we loved the toys and books, and the projector set up. The architecture and remodeling was beautiful. Appreciate the lack of tacky artwork on the walls. Tracie and Dave were such generous hosts. Hope to be back, thank you!

We loved this place! It was very spacious and held our big group very comfortably. Beds are all really comfortable, couch is big and great for groups. Bathrooms do look different than pictured in the photos, but they’re so cute! Feels kinda vintage cozy. The backyard area/deck is wonderful as well. Location is great, easy access to both Carmel by the sea and Monterey.

Matthew was incredibly responsive and accommodating. The space itself was very clean and in a peaceful location, with some great hiking trails nearby. We would definitely stay here again!

This spot was great for a weekend getaway! Right at the start of Lighthouse Ave where all the shops and restaurants are located. We were able to walk to the beach as well which was lovely. My partner and I felt extremely safe walking around at night as well. The space was very clean and cozy. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Monterey area. We’ll definitely be back as well:)

Fantastic apartment. It is roomy and airy. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Our host thoughtfully provided coffee, creamer and water so we didn’t have to worry about our first morning. Location is at the center of Carmel. We parked our car and didn’t get in it for three days. There is a great bakery and also a market a block or two away. Our host was responsive to questions. We plan to stay again next time we visit this magical town.

We have stayed at many beach hotels and apartments and this may have been the best. Beautiful view of the beach, which is pretty quiet. And you can walk on the beach for a couple of hours in either direction. Also really enjoyed the location in Watsonville, which is the strawberry capital of the US. And nice to have Monterey and Santa Cruz nearby. Communicaiton with Pajaro Dunes was very good and helpful. Look forward to coming back.

I had a wonderful stay, Jeff was so helpful arranging a last-minute trip and was a fantastic host. The studio was very quiet and peaceful and I enjoyed spending time on the patio in the back. It was a great place to spend some time in the Carmel area.

We love staying here to visit our daughter. The neighborhood is charming and super quiet! The place is spacious, comfortable and very clean! We keep coming back to this place when we are in town! This place feels like a second home to us!

This house was a beautiful and it provides easy access to everything that Pacific Grove and Monterrey had to offer. When you walked into the house, it felt like home. Most importantly, Jane was the perfect host. She is always available to make your stay enjoyable. Everything we needed was there. I love sitting in the living room sofa and enjoying the great views. I loved the outside fire pit for those cold days when you wanted to sit and watch the world go by and to watch the seals sleeping across the street. You could not do any better than this place. Really nice and clean. Barnaby communicated really well. Be aware, this is non-refundable though so be sure before you book. One thing that isn’t mentioned is that it’s on the main stretch and since it’s a tourist spot, weekends are loud. It feels like a party is happening outside while you’re trying to sleep. Don’t expect it to be a sleepy beach town condo. One really nice thing is it’s next to a great coffee shop that serves delicious bagel sandwiches. The bed is lofted and cozy. Everything is super clean and the fireplace at night is perfect.

My family and I had an amazing stay at this Airbnb! The place was clean and well-maintained, which made it feel welcoming and comfortable. The view was absolutely stunning and added a special touch to the experience. On top of that, the host was outstanding—extremely responsive and genuinely committed to ensuring a great stay. They went above and beyond to accommodate any needs, which made everything seamless. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful spot. Quality home in a beautiful location. Very peaceful beach - great for families. We made a fire on the beach for s'mores. The pool/spa was busy but well maintained.

Great View and Weather!

A minor issue with our original reservation was quickly resolved by the PowerWest Team. They responded immediately and went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of and had a perfect trip. The unit is a beautiful, well equipped condo with spectacular ocean front views. We will definitely visit again and stay with PowerWest.

We were up for a wedding in Monterey with 10 adults sharing the house, Nick's place was perfect for what we needed and the location/views are amazing. The decor is a little dated but the functionally was there, Nick communicates really well and I think you'll enjoy the serenity of his house.

Our stay was everything we hoped for and more. The host was responsive and easy to work with, and the resort itself is stunning—perched above the water with incredible views. The home was spotless inside and out, and everything worked exactly as it should. We honestly wished we didn’t have to leave. It was the perfect place for us to escape the grind of unending obligations and just relax. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like; if we had one small wish, it would be for all three TVs to be smart TVs. We’ll definitely be booking this same place again the next time we’re in the area.

Great home with gorgeous views of the redwoods!! We were all confused as to why there was no dish soap or trash bags to use, but it had everything else!!
