Villa holiday rentals in Chorafakia

What an absolute gem of a place! Let's start at the beginning. We were a group of 4 adults. The property owner kept us up-to-date with all needed information prior to arrival & included links for local eateries, activities & attractions to better plan our stay. We had a taxi booked from & back to the airport which worked like a dream. On our arrival, we were met by the owner, Dimitris, & his son Kostas, who gave us a quick tour of the property, pointing out key features & how to operate the electric gate before leaving us to enjoy the setting, which is right on the beach with some astonishing views. Despite being right on the beach, We didn't feel overlooked in the slightest & the infinity pool is a beautiful to spend a few hours a day. There are several restaurants in Stavros & two mini-marts a short walk away. We visited Chania one day & did a boat trip to the remote cove of Seitan, but otherwise we lazed by the pool, swam in the sea & dined like royalty. In short, perfect!

An absolutely fantastic stay! The villa offers a family atmosphere – we immediately felt at home. The apartments are perfectly equipped, very clean and furnished with attention to detail. The pool and the barbecue area were highlights that we used every day. We would like to especially highlight the landlord: always available, warm and incredibly helpful. He was immediately available for every question. The absolute highlight was when he prepared a traditional Cretan salad for us - a wonderful gesture that delighted us all. We really lacked nothing. If you are looking for relaxation, comfort and genuine hospitality, you have come to the right place. We can fully recommend the villa and will definitely come back!

This little villa was the perfect find for us! On a beautiful little cove with a beach across the street, private pool, very quiet and serene—a great hike up to a cave on the adjoining mountain, restaurants and groceries nearby, drivable to many of the islands locales—but even if you only get to nearby Chania, it’s such a charming town and well worth it. Stavros is the most gracious of hosts, very responsive and thoughtful, left us treats, kitchen was well stocked with basics, and he was full of helpful information to make our stay amazing. Wish we’d stayed here longer, honestly!!

Fantastic stay in a great villa. Swimming pool on the roof is fabulous. Very well equipped property with everything you might need. Beds are really comfortable with ample air conditioning units in the rooms. Great location for touring Crete in the car, but a bit far out from Chania if you want to walk into the town. Taxis were readily available. Host is really helpful with recommendations.

Our stay at this villa was perfect! Anastasia was very helpful and flexible with our check in time. The place was exactly how it was described and pictured, we didn’t want to leave most days! Would definitely stay again.

We cannot have asked for a better place to stay in Chania. The house is a gorgeous villa perfect for a large family vacation. The location is on a breathtaking hill overlooking the city and old Harbor. There are tons of windows letting in natural light. You can be an old town in eight minutes by car or about 45 minutes walking. There are plenty of local mini markets and restaurants nearby. Michalis was a model host, and gave us plenty of recommendations for day trips, restaurants, treats, activities, and gave us very kind gifts throughout our stay. If we ever return to Crete, we will be staying here again!

The villa is beautiful, the setting too. But there's not much to see in the area apart from La canne, or you have to go far

Villa Penelope is a beautiful place where you can spend a great time in a large group. Especially the outdoor area with a large pool is outstanding, the view over the sea is unique. Giorgos was always available within a very short time. We were even able to get to the villa earlier upon request. You need a car for activities or grocery-shopping. Thanks for everything, we would definitely come back!

This place is a treasure. The views from the living room and kitchen are spectacular. The house has many clever features that are well designed. The area around Almyrida is fun to explore--go down to the beach or on a hike along the coast. Almyrida is a cute beach town, very welcoming. And we did several further from the town adventures. We had no idea that Crete has so much to offer--pottery in Margarites, beautiful beaches, intense hikes, exceptional museums, exploring Hania's historic streets. The property management team were wonderful to interact with. We felt so fortunate to find such a gem. Thank you!!! We sure hope we can return.

Book this Airbnb. Do not think twice. Nice to be greeted with wine and snacks after the flight over. 3 styles of coffee makers with coffee. Sugar, spices, olive oil and balsamic to get you started. 4 bedroom 3 full baths. Great living and cooking areas. Very spacious for our group of 7. Clean and comfortable. Equipped with everything you could ask for. We made a few terrific meals with the grill and kitchen equipment. Harilao has put a lot of thought and planning in to his home. Gorgeous outdoor space with heated pool. Indoors is clean and uncluttered. The views are lovely. 1 minute on walk up the street to fresh bread daily and cute market. 3 minute walk down the street is a bigger market. 4 minute walk to my favorite beach. 8 Euro for 2 chairs and an umbrella. Bar right there if you want a drink. Walk to coffee, pastries, restaurants and bars near by. We loved the home and beach so much that we slipped a few day trips. 5 stars. I hope to come back! Amazing home.

Fantastic Villa, beautiful unspoilt surroundings. Lovely pool, spotlessly clean through the house. So much detail in place even with its own app with manuals of anything electrical to every bit of information you could possibly need! Would highly recommend

This is a 10/10 Villa. We have travelled a lot and this is by far the best Villa we have stayed in. We were a family of 9 (5 adults and 4 children aged 2, 4, 9 and 11). The views are stunning, the pool is big, all the rooms have private bathroom. Jacuzzi is also perfect for when the sun goes down! Theo was a wonderful host helping us, giving good recommendations and suprising as with some nice gestures. This Villa really is a Gem as the name suggests. As for the surroundings - it is 100% private! For me the best part was that there is a nice local village to walk to every night. There are some amazing Tavernas/Restaurants with delicious food and reasonable prices (also a mini-market). There is also a nice beach with a good restaurant and a nice cozy beach bar - it is only a 10 minute walk from the villa. And if you rent a car then it is a 10 minute ride to the Rethymnon old town, which is also a very nice place with lots of shops and restaurants. The Villa was worth every euro!

The villa exudes luxury throughout with thoughtful details that ensure a high level comfort during your stay. We couldn’t make full use of the pool (price to heat was a bit high) but our daughters were braver and took a few quick dips. We stayed over Easter and planned visits into the local town and surrounding area to immerse ourselves in the celebrations and communities which was so memorable. We’d definitely love to stay again- it was a wrench to leave!!

A lovely, luxury appartment near the beach and about 30 minutes' walk from the old town of Chania. A well-equipped, clean and beautiful appartment, but above all the warm and friendly hostess Anastasia. She guided us around the area, brought local delicacies, stocked the fridge with food and even drove us to the grocery store with her car. We really enjoyed our stay at the appartment and can wholeheartedly recommend it to others. You certainly wont't be disapointed!

Had a great week with bunch of friends. Nice and cozy place. Tennis court was a big plus. Daily cleaning too.

The villa was truly as described. When we arrived we were greeted by the hosts, who were incredibly warm and welcoming. The kitchen was well appointed and the area is perfect for families or really anyone looking to walk everywhere, including to a great beach and countless restaurants. Thank you Andreas for a lovely time and a perfect vacation. Ευχαριστώ!

The villa was pretty extraordinary overall. We've stayed in villas on a number of Greek islands over the last 12 years and this was the best on most counts. The interior was comfortable and spacious, really light and airy. There were only two of us, but I doubt it would be crowded with 6. A huge amount of kitchen equipment (you name it, the kitchen had it), all appliances seemed nearly new and of great quality. Showers with good supplies of hot water and strong pressure. The outside is fantastic - the pool is huge and the perfect depth throughout (maybe not ok for young children, with no shallow end). Plenty of comfortable seats and sun loungers, umbrellas for shade. The jacuzzi is a great bonus and is really high quality. Huge grounds and some lovely flowers. All windows have shutters so bedrooms could be made very dark overnight. We weren't interrupted at all through the week but whenever we had a question we received a rapid response. I can't think of anything negative to say!

The host was waiting for us at the property when we arrived. They were really welcoming and helpful. The welcome pack was excellent and meant we had everything we needed for the first evening and breakfast. The villa was perfect for us. Attention to detail was excellent too; soap, dishwasher tabs, rubbish bags, etc. Plenty of space, beautiful views and a path leading from the property (via a secure gate) directly down to a small cove with easy sea access. A previous post mentioned oil in the water in the cove but when we went on a diving/snorkling organised trip further around the cost the appearance of the water was the same and apparently this is the effect of fresh water from the mountains mixing with salt water (sweet water) giving a grainy appearance when underwater. We were able to swim from the cove around to a beach very close by. Hotel Lena is a couple of doors down with great food when we didn't feel like cooking for ourselves or just felt like a cocktail.

Amazing villa and even better than the photos - the gardens and pool area were so much larger than we expected; there was a lot of space for all 7 of us with at least 6 different outside areas to relax in, we were spoilt for choice. The views from the roof are breathtaking - everything was spotlessly clean and well looked after. It was so nice to have 3 different bathrooms to use as well as 2 different living rooms - with us being 2 families it worked out perfectly to be all together but also have our own private space at the same time. Elsa was always responsive and so helpful with local information and nothing was too much trouble. We loved this villa so much - we really felt at home and would recommend this villa 100%

A beautiful stay near the airport in Crete. Easy to get to. This is a little bit more remote, but there is a delicious taverna 5 minutes away, and it's a beautiful view with a lot of room. Do be prepared for a few bugs that may sneak their way in, and for the local cats. I actually became best friends with one of the cats here and it broke my heart so bad to leave him. He would come over every day and cuddle with me on the lounge chairs for hours. He'd jump up on the balcony when I was there, come to the front door... He tried to sneak inside several times, and on one of the nights where it was rainy I felt so bad not being able to let him in. I set up a little shelter for him in the yard, but if you're an animal person, just be prepared going in. I cried several times because I wasn't expecting him, and really fell in love with the cat. He's white with some brown and black markings. If you see him around, be nice to him! He's such an affectionate little cuddler!

Amazing villa in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Host Maria was super flexible, understanding and helpful when our plans changed. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
