Holiday rentals with a kayak in Gippsland

We had a fantastic stay at Wattle Bird for a friend's getaway. The house was spacious and comfortable—perfect for our group of 8 adults and 2 dogs. Rob and Di were exceptional hosts, warm and welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The property had everything we needed to enjoy our time in Barwon Heads, with standout amenities like the BBQ, hot tubs, and a cozy fireplace. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Wattle Bird and would love to return!

What an amazing house! Just spend 5 wonderful nights here with family, and it was the perfect home away from home, comfortably accommodating eight of us (four adults and four children). The games room was a massive hit with the kids, as were the hot tub and fire pit. A short walk to the beach, and beautiful views out over the lake. The birds taking flight over the lake at sunset was just gorgeous! And to top it off - Keith was the perfect host, friendly, helpful, and responsive. Highly recommend.

Homely home - even though the weather wasn't great, we had so much to do at Oggys - kids loved the games, the yard and the dog next door! we loved the fire! It was a very relaxing home. We will be back when it's warmer!

It was perfect place for our weekend getaway to explore Mornington and surronds. Angela was very helpful and flexible with check-in/check-out. The place was comfortable, well equipped with appliances and amenities, with great access to the beach across the road.

My partner and I had a wonderful time at Marina Vista! The home was so cozy and set up beautifully with furniture and lovely antiques around the home. The view overlooking the Marina is breathtaking! There were local restaurant recommendations that we tried and LOVED! Laura has set up a beautiful home in an excellent location and we can’t wait to come back! 😍

Our stay was absolutely fantastic! The indoor-outdoor room was a real highlight—it created such a beautiful, open space to relax and enjoy both the home and the outdoors. We spent so much time there just unwinding, having meals, and soaking up the atmosphere. It made the whole stay feel like a luxury retreat. The rest of the home was equally impressive—spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and super comfortable. Every detail had been thoughtfully considered, and the host was friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with. This place had everything we needed and more. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Highly recommended!

Anna’s place was a haven away from the busy city life. The house was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully presented with lovely touches and everything you’d need for a family beach holiday. Close to 16 Beach and there were also plenty of family friendly activities at the house - so need to leave! Loved that doggo could join us too.

Thank you so much for the most wonderful Easter holiday for my family. Sarah's house is absolutely gorgeous, perfect for families- it has such a wonderful cottage vibe. The location is perfect- walking distance to boat ramp and playground and in such a peaceful area. Also a great garden for finding Easter eggs!

We enjoyed 3 nights at Steve’s. Love the space available, saw wallaby and wild hares hopping about the grounds in the evening. Steve was very hospitable and responsive. Garage was full of activities we could play with, though w didn’t get through most of them. Love the Sweet blue theme with the doors and bunk bed. It had most everything we needed.

It was great to stay at Kerrin’s cottage. The place has breathtaking views for sunset and is very close to Great Victorian Trail. Absolutely loved staying here.

Had a wonderful stay in the cottage for an anniversary. Great location by some beautiful state forest. Very cozy spending time by the fireplace.

A rare gem—pure bliss by the lake! We stayed one night at Cottage by the Lake, but it felt like a world away from everything. Just 5 minutes from Hanging Rock, this stunning waterfront property features two tranquil lakes, complete with a rowboat and kayaks that guests are free to enjoy. The cottage itself is warm, inviting, and beautifully appointed with a wood fireplace (firewood generously supplied). The upper-level attic bedroom is spacious and cosy, while the well-stocked kitchen had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Hosts Ann and Kevin were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We’d be remiss not to mention Jock, the sweetest dog who welcomed us on arrival and came by for regular visits. He loves pats and hugs and truly made us feel at home. This place is a nature lover’s paradise—kangaroos all around, stunning views, and absolute peace. A rare find we won’t forget. Wish we stayed longer. We will be back for a longer visit next time!

Gail and Ken’s place is a little oasis of tranquility in beautiful nature. The photos don’t even do it justice - it’s even prettier than that. The house is spacious for a family of five, spotless, has everything you could need and can be heated well and to more than what you probably need even in winter as it is well insulated. Gail and Ken are very friendly and helpful, and provided lots of useful info material for our stay. Our kids enjoyed roaming around the river and spotting a platypus several times. We are looking forward to coming back!

We had a brilliant time staying at Sarah's property! The location by the river is peaceful and idyllic, truly magical. There is plenty of wildlife to observe from the green by the river and kayaks are provided to explore the river itself. Sarah is a friendly host, proactive and helpful to ensure you have a great stay. Her local recommendations for things to do and places to eat were great. We chose to eat at Dulcie's Cottage which we can highly recommend. We'd recommend Sarah's place to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Susan's place was exactly what we were looking for for a weekend getaway from Melbourne. It's close enough for an easy drive, lovely scenery, and a very comfortable place to stay. Lancefield was the closest town which had all of the the food and restaurant options we could use. The bed was fantastic, and there were extra blankets, towels, and enough cutlery and crockery for a couple of people on a weekend away. We had tea, coffee, and very kindly some fruit and biscuits for us on arrival which made it feel right at home. The property is listed as pet friendly, and it's so well organised for the pup that we had everything at hand that we needed including towels to keep her dry when it was raining outside. The hot tub was great, and although the weather wasn't fantastic, it was lovely to spend the evening in. I could go on, but if you're reading this, and need a short stay away in the country this is the place to be.

We had the most wonderful stay at Cindy & Jeff’s Bungalow. We felt a million miles away whilst being close to all the region has to offer. We were just happy to have a drink, sit by the fire and go fishing. Luckily for us we had some luck, catching a very decent gummy shark on night 1! Bring your bogs and enjoy the country, feed the cows and eat some fresh eggs. We will be back!

Jim and Louisa’s pod is a perfect private Haven, walking disrance to the beach, beautiful garden for a little dog to run out at the front, and the pod had all the amenities needed for a relaxing getaway. The hot spa at night looking at the stars is a must. Definitely recommend!

The Kiah River Lyrebird retreat was beautiful secluded location with picture perfect views. It provided the perfect quiet getaway with everything you would need for your stay. Sarah also looked after us with some extra treats such as organic chocolate and drinks. There was even a couple of linen dressing gowns. Sarah kept us well up to date with places to eat and visit plus some extra information about the Gravity Mountain bike park, which by the way is one of the best we've visited in Australia providing clear, well maintained trails and modern clean facilities. Best of all it's free! We're busy planning our next trip....

Amazing location! Incredible set up! Just a beautiful property! The Lake was a low which made it a little hard to access, but we made it work and still caught fish, enjoyed a kayak and plenty of swimming.

What an amazing and cozy little cottage, privately located in the bush, loads of wildlife, I saw deer, roos, wallabys and wombats! Amanda and Rob were extremely accommodating and helpful and have amazing blueberry liqueur which is worth the visit alone. Highly recommend for a relaxing and cosy stay.

We abolsutely loved the place and our family had a wonderful time!! Great house, yard that has amazing view over the lake. I will definitely be booking to stay here again! Alex is a wonderful host and was super responsive with our questions and recommendations for Jindabyne.
