Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Guatemala

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and private place in Santa Cruz. The view is stunning, the house is breezy and full of natural light, and the garden is an oasis. We worked remotely from the loft above with a view of the lake, and the windows letting in the breeze… the Starlink internet was seamless. Town/dock was 5-10 min walk from the house, and town/ATM was a short tuk tuk ride up the hill. Miguel was extremely helpful, always readily available, communicative and with a great attitude. He met us at the dock in Panajachel with a pre booked private transport and helped bring our bags up to the house. We also booked the private chef experience with Manuela and she was amazing… so sweet, punctual, and made us healthy, tasty lunches to enjoy while we worked. She even made us a refreshing drink with a cucumber from her garden, and set the table for us outside to we could eat while enjoying the nice weather. We learned a lot from chatting with her! Lovely people & stay!

The house is very beautiful. A lovely design and filled with beautiful touches and artwork. An amazing view off the veranda, and the gardens are relaxing and full of birds. We all enjoyed the clean pool very much too. Overall it was an amazing place to relax and recharge. There is a walk up to the local village of Santa Clara or tuk tuks to take you up the hill, and the village has a produce market on Saturdays. We also recommend CECAP for great meals with the best view, as well as fair trade traditional handicrafts. It was easy to get a boat at the public dock. It’s probably easiest to arrange your own driver and boat to the private dock as then it’s easy to contact them if they do not turn up or know where to go (problems we had through no fault of the host). Definitely shop in Pana as the shops are very small in Santa Clara. Be aware it was hazy every day for 6 days and apparently this is common in April (or other months too?) because of cane burning. The location was very peaceful, but very close walking to amazing restaurants, coffee shops and just a couple of blocks to the hub of Antigua. The roof deck had incredible views of the volcanoes.

Paula’s place was the perfect home base for our stay in Antigua—organized, cozy, and exactly as described. Communication with her team was outstanding: clear, helpful, and impressively prompt. Overall, we had an extremely pleasant experience and would strongly recommend this place to anyone visiting Antigua.

2nd time staying at Sor Juana and its more dreamy than I remember. Go ahead and book this place NOW. The rooms are massive, the terrace is gorgeous and the staff are amazing. The breakfast provided was delicious and we were even able to wash and dry our clothes since we hiked Acatenango one of the days. Its also spacious enough for everyone to hang out in different areas of the house so you dont ever feel crowed. Cant say enough good things about this place. One quirk we didn’t realize is that the showers take a bit to warm up, so just let the water run for a few minutes before jumping in.

This place was even better than described! The location is close to everything yet still private and the home itself is stunning. The beds were comfortable, its clean and just absolutely beautiful. The private pool was so nice and he even gives pool towels. When I make it back to Antigua I absolutely want to stay here again!

Nos quedamos con nuestras dos niñas (5 y 2 años) el lugar muy apto para ellas, estuvimos muy cómodos, las camas y sábanas muy cómodas. Mucha naturaleza, nos encantó la opción de piscina, y jacuzzi con vista al lago. Vimos el atardecer en un kayak, logramos hacer el tour de birdwathching y logramos ver el Quetzal, también tomamos tuc tuc al pueblo y tomamos tour en lancha alrededor del lago. Nos la pasamos muy bien! Nos brindaron toallas para piscina y aparte para bañarse! Si quieres cocinar, lleva aceite, sal, azúcar. Del restaurante la Posada nos encantaron las quesadillas y el sandwich de lomito!

Very relaxing and peaceful place close to the ocean. Comfortable for our family of 4. The pool was essential. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed there for 3 days, Luis and his helper were amazing at making sure we got everything we needed and gave us all the help we needed to find anything we needed. I even asked Luis if I could use his place to propose to my now fiancé and he was very nice about it. The location is great because you are very private and yet super close to the beach. His helper was great and always gave us the sources to find, food, quads and anything we needed. It was a great experience!

comodo realmente si lo que buscas es una estancia tranquila, fácil ubicación y acceso aunque para este tiempo de verano el aire acondicionado es muy necesario hay unos Ventiladores que enfrían bien pero el sonido no deja conciliar el sueño, por todo lo demás excelente 👌

I loved the fully equipped kitchen, the apartment was bigger than expected. The only issue is the noise, you can hear from other apartments or outside. But its totally worth it, it was great!

La ubicación es lo mejor si vas a visitar y conocer Cayala, todo muy lindo. El departamento súper lindo y súper cómodo :)

la maison est très agréable et dispose d un très joli jardin et d une superbe vue sur le lac. l accès a Santa Cruz se fait très bien a pied et en tuktuk. Lucas et son épouse sont très attentionnés et serviables.

Súper cómodo, excelente atención, estuvieron muy al pendiente de nuestra llegada, todos estaba limpio. Sin duda alguna regresaría.

This was truly a magical stay. The views from the treehouse were absolutely breathtaking—whether lounging on the bed or relaxing on the balcony, we had 24-hour panoramic views of the volcano, the lake, and the village of Tzununa. Our hosts, Melinda and Clint, were incredibly responsive and helpful with anything we needed. The space itself is beautifully designed, and the addition of a coffee bar made each morning something to look forward to. The hike up to the treehouse was more intense than I expected, but to be fair, the listing does prepare you for it. One thing to be aware of: spiders are part of the experience. At first, the large spiders were a bit unsettling, but after Melinda and Clint reassured us they were harmless, I quickly got used to them. Eventually, I hardly noticed them at all. The ants were a bit more persistent—especially around food and the coffee bar—but nothing a quick spray of bug repellent couldn’t handle. Overall, I was very satisfied with this stay!

I stayed at Balam Ya Rentals and it was truly one for the books. The property felt luxurious, spacious, and incredibly private—perfect for a restful retreat by Lake Atitlán. From the private driveway and designated parking space to the lush surroundings, everything about the space invited relaxation. What made the experience especially memorable was the attentive and kind team. They were always available to help us coordinate taxis, meals, and even a private boat to explore the lake and its surrounding villages. While some services came at a higher-than-average price, the level of comfort, ease, and care made it more than worth it. If you’re looking for a peaceful, elevated experience in Lake Atitlán with top-tier hospitality and privacy, this is the place.
