Cottage holiday rentals in Guimaraes

This house is in the most STUNNING location with AMAZING views. We arrived early hours and Tiago was more than helpful at this time. We were told of the house’s rich religious history which is reflected in the artwork and decor of the house. 7 of us stayed for 8 days 2 couples and 3 teens More than enough space for everyone to have their own privacy and more than enough room for 10 people. The grounds had fig, Apple and lemon trees which we were told we are more than welcome to use. Aldi and Lidl were a 15 minute drive (we rented a car) which was perfect for evening barbecues (huge wood oven outside as well as small grills) The pool was stunning, we spent most days in there from morning till night. It’s a great size and easy to shade with umbrellas if needed. We left our inflatables there for the next person, which someone had also done before we arrived, which was a nice touch. We can’t thank Tiago enough for an amazing 8days. Will defo visit again

The accommodation is simply magnificent. It is in the middle of nature, very quiet and very close to nature. You can hear the birds, the water. It is simply a magical place and perfect for arriving at yourself or enjoying the peace. I loved to meditate or do yoga by the water. I would come back anytime. Thanks so much for the nice days.

Beautiful house, amazing private location above a lake. Very relaxing being immersed in nature. House well kitted out and lovely features. We took our paddleboard and wonderful paddle boarding on the lake. Children loved the swimming and the ‘cold tub’ plunge pool. Thankyou Gerrit and Grace, we hope to return.

Great place and great host , we felt right at home . Fernando and his wife are excellent people . We enjoyed our stay and the house was super comfortable . We hope to come back very soon.

Silvio is gracious and friendly and the garden is beautiful. He left us fresh eggs one morning and we loved the hot tub. Definitely recommend Silvio’s place.

Wonderful stay here for 5 days. Helena was quick and responsive throughout. When I arrived, I met Paula, Sofia, Martinho and Francisco who welcomed and showed me the house and area. So generous to offer me a bottle of wine, water, biscuits on my arrival. The house is cozy and peaceful with a view of the farm where the sheep roam during the day. Comfortable bed, linen and beautiful antique decor to keep with the theme. Kitchen has a small fridge, kettle, microwave and stove. Beautiful spaces to walk and rest under fruit trees, 2 swimming pools in a peaceful natural setting. Even my cat, Samson enjoyed it. For company, we also had a cute friendly dog, Nina. It is a short drive to centre of Fafe, a lovely town with charming architecture. Helena provided useful recommendations on what to do and where to go. Guimaraes is a beautiful place, only 20 minutes from the house. All in all, a great stay and I'm happy to revisit one day again. Thanks for a great stay!

I had a wonderful stay in this cozy stone house. The atmosphere is super quiet, ideal for those looking for rest in the midst of nature, and the house was impeccably clean and well-equipped. The hostess Célia was extremely friendly and attentive, received us with great cordiality and shared great tips for tours around the region. In addition, it was always available for any support we needed. I highly recommend and would definitely return!

Maybe not for everyone but us we experienced the house and surroundings as a little paradise. The house has character and the whole lot around it is beautiful. It is quiet and has lots of space. The pool is real pool, and not an enlarged sort of bath tub. A beautiful view is included. The house is well equipped, everything worked well. The shoreline is a 40+ minute drive and worthwhile visiting. One can walk kilometers on the wooden board walk or bike along. Even to Porto along the shore which is really not far away. It passes Afurada………… you may want to plan a stop there for excellent sea food at a very reasonable price Hiking trails are in the area. Do some smart shopping for groceries and the like at a supermarket, we did not find anything close by. Maybe a minus for some, if you like to go out and enjoy night life nearby, that is a no-go.

On the positive side, the place lived up to its description. Fatima was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience better. There were enough parking spaces for three cars. On the negative side, the hot water reservoir wasn't sufficient for ten people to take showers. As a result, some of us had to take cold showers every day. Additionally, the location is situated on narrow roads, making it challenging to reach by car.

We stayed at Andre’s place in May 2025, we absolutely loved the house it was lovely being private and in a good peaceful location, an extra that wasn’t on the advert is the fact the biggest bedroom has an en-suite perfect for families! Swimming pool was great but could’ve done with being slightly deeper in one end but it’s perfect for what you need especially with kids. The only thing I would say was a negative was the fact the house has no washing machine ( this is stated in the advert ) but even a tank to wash clothes would make families feel happier to wash there clothes while on holiday. Make sure you have a car when you rent this property as it’s well hidden from the rest of the world! Perfect stay here well recommended and can’t wait to stay here again!

This is a unique place. Nothing compares with it. A small village of picturesque buildings - nevertheless, you do not have to miss anything of modern convenience - with the most beautiful and stunning nature. Amazing and must visit.

We received a very warm welcome from Bartolo. Interesting, old apartment, part of a much larger farmhouse building. Antique furnishings and high ceilings give this Airbnb a very quaint feel, like going back in time. Plenty of blankets and hot water bottles for the unseasonable chilly nights on our arrival. We loved the ambience, the creative renovations which were being carried out whilst we were there, didn’t hinder our stay in any way. Beautiful views, animals in the grounds, wonderful kind people, made our trip very special. We took the train into glorious old Porto from Mindelo, leaving our hire car nearby. Do walk along the boardwalk in the nature reserve on the coast nearby. Characterful old villages and towns nearby for coffees and meals out. The Romantico drive along the Douro is a must, choose a dry day for the glorious views. We toured the old city and loved both sides of the river. Lots of musicians play there, it was a pleasure to lunch, listen and relax.

Spacious & clean with a great view + pool

Despite the bad weather we could not swim in the pool, however, they made sure it was cleaned and we still hoped we could use it. The garden is also very well maintained. The house itself was as we expected, it was perfect for the 4 of us. There is plenty of everything and we felt right at home. Hopefully we can come back one day to spend time at the swimming pool!

We had our first family trip to Portugal and chose to stay at Gallo’s House and we couldn’t have made a better choice. Toni, the owner, gave us a warm welcome and met us outside upon arrival. He showed us around the property and explained everything thoroughly, which was such a lovely start to our stay. The house had everything we needed: a fully equipped kitchen, fresh towels, and all the essentials. The pool was beautiful and available to use whenever we liked, a perfect way to relax during our trip. The area is peaceful and quiet, ideal for unwinding, yet it’s conveniently close to Porto, which made exploring the city really easy. Toni also gave us lots of great recommendations on where to eat and what to do in the area. Toni and Cristina truly know how to take care of their guests. Their hospitality made us feel right at home, and the place itself is simply amazing. I hope to return one day and stay there again. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely stay at Joana’s cottage. It is in a peaceful and private setting with great views, and yet handy for lots of different places to visit and things to do. We walked in the hills, went to the beach, and wandered around lovely small cities and little villages; all within easy reach. The cottage itself is really comfortable, super clean, has great amenities and tasteful decor. Would thoroughly recommend as a wonderful base for visiting a beautiful part of North Portugal.

Great place! Excellent river view and terrace. The hosts were very friendly and helped us when our car broke down. Supermarkets and restaurants are just a 10-minute drive away.

This was the best Airbnb we ever stayed in. The house is specious and clean, the view is spectacular, the pool is beautiful and there are plenty activities for everyone. Above all, Fernanda cooked for us amazing dinners with fresh fish and meat, and fresh vegetables and fruits from her garden. This was delicious. Thank you Fernanda for your hospitality ❤️

We loved our stay so much that we didn’t use our car to go anywhere. We enjoyed the beautiful garden, the river and walking to the village. We so enjoyed the peace and quiet and the sound of the river and we wish we could have stayed for longer. Thank you Júlio and Patricia for being such thoughtful and welcoming hosts.
