Family-friendly holiday rentals in Hunua

Coming from a busy town, my partner and I wanted a getaway from all the noise and just the busy lifestyle that we have and the chalet was the perfect place for us to stay at and recharge mentally before getting back to reality. The privacy that you get as well as the surrounding of the beautiful nature was a bonus for us too. Definitely would recommend to those that need this kind of getaway or just a peaceful getaway in general. If you get the chance to meet the hosts, Charles and Nikki, they’re very welcoming and lovely people too!

Beautiful home located above Onetangi with incredible views and an amazing deck to sit and enjoy the sunshine on! Full kitchen to cook in, comfortable beds, hot showers, and relaxing spa pool all made the stay so luxurious. Would recommend taking cards or a board game for evenings or rainy winter days.

We spent 3 busy months traveling across New Zealand with our baby and we had the privilege of staying at Anne’s for our very last week. It was a week in paradise: an incredible view of farmland and mountains, songbirds galore, a beautiful citrus orchard and two incredible hosts who welcomed us like family. The place was spotless and so nicely decorated, generously equipped with everything you need. We had lots of room for our bub, whether for playing, eating or sleeping. The outdoor tub was a real treat, both for baby bath time and for stargazing at night! Anne went out of her way to make us feel at home and was so generous with our little one. He got to meet and feed farm animals and spent lots of time enjoying their swing. The location was ideal for a peaceful retreat, yet central for discovering the peninsula’s east coast. For hikers wanting to go off the beaten path, there are accessible tracks nearby. Staying here meant soaking in NZ’s best before heading home!

Love love love everything about this home. The views, the animals, the conversations. Everything was like a fairytale. The fruit from the farm was delicious (even tried a new type of fruit I’d never had!), the tub was perfect for a nice relaxing soak after being at the beach all day. Will be coming back here when I visit NZ again. 11/10

Understated elegance, luxury all wrapped together with threads of home, like your own home. We all love it, especially the kids. The view at night looking over the bay from the hot tub above the third level, you enjoy a view of lights glistening from the city beyond the waters of the bay below. We loved morning and evening walks to beach nearby, we loved it all. If you are anywhere in the area, stay here. You won’t regret it! Hosting was perfect; responsive when needed and invisible when not needed. “How accurately did Grace describe their place?” The picture on the website does not show the true beauty and setting of this home. The best view we found all the time we spent in North Island was from the living room here…or the bedroom here…or the hot tub here! Grace, show more pics!

Ewan’s place is even more stunning than photos can capture. The west facing deck was beautiful at sunset. Such a great location we were able to walk to the Oneroa Shops and bus around the island otherwise. It was just 2 of us staying but would be great place for 2 couples to stay as each room has own bathroom and lots of entertaining space. Bonus was the amazing comfy king size bed and loved looking through the books and CD collection. Ewan as super responsive (we booked last minute same day we checked in) and allowed late check out. 5 stars!

My friend and I had the most wonderful stay at Ngarumu Bay, just 9 km out of Thames. Coro was an absolutely amazing host—so friendly, welcoming, and easy to chat with. Her place was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The views were stunning, and Coro went out of her way to give us great local recommendations that really made our trip special. We felt right at home and genuinely didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful spot with a lovely host!

**JACUZZI LOVERS** this place is for you! Large home, 4 bed, 3 full bath, large fully stocked kitchen, large living room w/ smart TV, large 2-sided 2nd floor balcony with barbeque pit and outdoor furniture, washer/dryer was fast and perfect. This home is secluded from the neighbors, guarenteeing lots of privacy. The balcony jacuzzi was the best: you can set the temp up to 41C (106F) or as low as you want. The jets have a slow mode and a high-pressure mode to maximum massages. The host was amazing, and the communication replies were fast. The rental is a little pricey, but split among multiple adults, it's the best bang for your buck. I will reserve this home again on my next trip to Waiheke Island.

Wow, absolutely stunning views! Mark’s place was very spacious and lots of natural light. We only stayed a night, but wished we could have stayed for the whole weekend! It’s a small stroll to the sea and a little shop that sells some delicious toasties.

Feeling very refreshed after 2 lovely days spent at the magical Bethells Beach. Mary’s spot is a so peaceful, cosy and the perfect location to unwind for the weekend. Mary was incredibly helpful and kind and provided some great suggestions of the area. An extra special treat is Mary making us a yummy breakfast with eggs from her 4 local ladies and a delicious cup on coffee. It truly was a 5* stay and we can’t wait to come back.

We had a fantastic stay at The Black Pearl. We loved the sea views, comfy beds and location. The house was easy to find and reach by taxi or bus, the local bowls club was great for a feed and a few drinks, and the French bakery down the road was perfect for a light breakfast before heading out for the day. It was great to have the fireplace for the chilly nights/mornings, and Kurt and Sacha were quick to respond to our messages. Overall an amazing stay and great value for money.

Ian and Ailsa were fabulous hosts and their place was good for a couple nights in Titirangi. Beautiful area and close to good restaurants and walks.

I booked Emma's place for my bridal team to get ready in. Space-wise, it was perfect, gorgeous views, and amazing communication with the host. We had a slight hiccup with the microwave not being cleaned properly, but Emma was so quick to resolve the issue that it was like it never happened. 10/10 recommend!!

The place was very accommodating, and Ngaire was really kind. The location was great with a beautiful view, making the stay very relaxing. Overall, it was a lovely stay!

Loved our stay! Wish we could’ve been here longer. Adored the animals… was so lovely being greeted by the dogs upon arrival. We hope to return again soon!

Sarah's place was a peaceful retreat in a beautiful neighborhood setting. It featured a spacious loft with everything I needed including a comfortable bed, cozy sitting area, large desk, and a terrific shower. Very walkable to Mount Eden and the village nearby with a variety of restaurants and shops. Sarah was easy to contact and always responsive to questions. I highly recommend Sarah's place as an excellent choice in lodging if you are visiting Auckland.

Comfy and homely. Had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Appreciated the paper towels in the kitchen and the availability of recycling and food waste disposal which is not in many places.

Best location for Auckland CBD ! We really appreciated the convenience of the location of this spacious and airy flat. It is walkable to many places in Auckland’s CBD ! Beds are very comfy and great shower too ! We also want to thank our hosts for the quick responses and flexible check in ! Many, many thanks !

My husband, my friend and I very much enjoyed our stay at John’s place. It was as described, situated conveniently near both the beach and town. Especially appreciated was a second bathroom. John responded promptly to a query or two and offered helpful suggestions. We would definitely recommend his place and would stay there again.

Charming apartment in a great spot to see Auckland.

Such a lovely place where you can find everything that you need (and that’s totally rare). Super comfortable and well-equipped! It’s very well located with stores around the corner, the beach nearby, and easy access to explore the whole area in coromandel. Highly recommended!

I have no hesitations recommending this place. You won’t be disappointed. We had an incredible stay. The location and facilities are second to none. Parking to apartment in just 1 minute and it is all covered and easily accessed by lift. The apartment is spacious and well stocked with everything you’ll need. Two bathrooms was a massive bonus as was the washer/dryer to keep on top of washing. The pool, spa, and sauna were the highlight for our kids and we spent a lot of time there. The city and viaduct areas are walkable or grab a scooter and save your legs. The supermarket just across the road was so handy. Although it was raining for a lot of our stay the view from the apartment is amazing. In the summer having dinner and drinks on the balcony would be incredible. Comfortably slept four of us and we never felt crowded in the living room. This place is a credit to Linley and we’ll be looking this place up when we come for another break, concerts, or sports events.
