Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Kaikoura District

Not easy to find a great house for 6 people and a dog. This house was great! Our multi-generational group included 3 teenagers, an 81 year old, and a golden retriever. The house was cozy, perfectly clean, and very easy and comfortable for all of us. We got plenty of use out of the great poker chip set and the wood burning stove. Sad to leave. Meg was an excellent host. Very responsive and flexible, and provided a terrific goody basket which was a great surprise. Would definitely recommend this house and would stay again.

Great place to stay in Kaikōura! Steps from the beach and Esplanade. Night sky was amazing; we could see everything there is to see. Comfy place with a kitchen, which was great to have. The host was very friendly and helpful when we had to check in late, leaving on the light and heat for us. The shower is not the best for tall folks, but plenty of hot water! Overall a fantastic option and we'd definitely stay again next time we're in the area.

Words cannot describe the views. Having breakfast on the balcony was incredible. All of us slept very comfortably in the beds. The place was just as described. We wish we had more time to spend. If ever in the area, we will definitely hope this space is available.

WOW is all we could say as we walked into this beautiful home - the photos did not do it justice - the views are breathtaking. The home was so very peaceful, clean and tidy, and warm - with a fabulous kitchen Whilst the bed is a bit small for 2 people, it is comfy - we like a firm bed Lovely walks, the town is about 5mins drive. Fabulous pub 5 mins walk away (Pier House) We will definitely recommend this place to our friends Keina's home fits in exactly with the magical Kaikoura vibe THANKS AGAIN Keina - amazing place to stay - we'll be back

The property was easy to find in a great location with fantastic views over the sea. The place was tidy and had everything we needed plus to additional condiments in the bathrooms were great to have. There could have been more relaxing seating in the upstairs lounge for 8 people. The option to take our dog was also much appreciated and he loved the secure outdoors. The showers were great and the beds were all comfortable. Pretty good value overall.

We travelled from Christchurch to Kaikoura and had the best stay at The Pink Palace. Super clean and comfortable. Had everything that we needed for a stress free family getaway with thoughtful touches. James is an awesome host and clear with his comms. Looking forward to staying again. Cheers!

Great place to stay in Kaikoura. Neat , clean and with great views of the sea and within walking distance of the beach. Near city centre. Will recommend to friends and stay here again if an opportunity presents itself.

I highly recommend Caitlin’s place! The house is brand new, spotless, and beautifully maintained—everything was so clean and tidy when we arrived. The bed was incredibly warm and comfortable, perfect for a restful night’s sleep. The towels were soft, fluffy, and felt like hotel quality. The home is fully equipped with everything you might need, from kitchen essentials to thoughtful touches that made our stay feel extra cozy. Caitlin was also a great host—very responsive and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again!

Absolutely stunning stay at Fiona’s oceanfront home. Everything about it stands out. The beautiful setting, the architecture and decor, the kind generous spirit of Fiona and everything in between! I could have stayed there a month! We will definitely be back during the Summer! Thank you for everything!

Absolutely spectacular in every way! By far the best place we’ve ever stayed in. We had dreadful weather during our stay which meant going out was not an option, but with a place like this it didn’t matter a bit. We were cosy and had everything we needed and watched the waves crash and the wild weather all day long from the amazing big windows. The views are incredible and that’s with limited visibility so can only imagine how stunning they are on a good day! Cannot recommend this place highly enough, we’d love to return one day. Absolutely wow—Kaikoura might just be my favorite town in the world, and DeArna and Stan are the kindest hosts I’ve ever met! From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home and at peace. The house is spacious, cozy, and perfectly located—close to everything you’d want to do in Kaikoura. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the shower had steady, hot water. I had the pleasure of meeting both hosts—Stan even brought by some delicious fruit On the morning of checkout, I ran into car trouble right before a scheduled tour. Stan came right over to help and, when time was tight, he didn’t hesitate to offer me a ride so I wouldn’t miss it. That tour ended up being one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life—swimming with dolphins. I also got to see sperm whales earlier in my stay from both air and sea. Truly one of the best visits I’ve ever had. I can’t recommend this town, this place, and these hosts enough—thank you, DeArna and Stan!

Value for money and a good central location. I imagine the view is lovely, but the weather didn't cooperate. Their spot is very clean, safe and easy to find. I'd recommend

This apartment opening out onto the beautiful Kaikoura Bay was fantastic. We awoke to a beautiful sunrise both mornings from our bedroom. The apartment was Immaculately presented with attention to detail in all aspects. It boasts quality fittings, towels, linen etc. Proximity to the local picture theater allowed me to nip next door to watch 'Tina' which I thoroughly loved. Walking distance to restraunts. Very, very good value for money.

Lovely little spot off the main road, super easy to find, yet extremely quiet and peaceful. Easy walk into the heart of Kaikoura. Perfect for a little get away.
