From the moment we arrived we were captivated by the stunning views surrounding the accommodation. The highlight of our stay was definitely the hot tub. It was the perfect way to unwind. The fireplace added to the ambiance. We spent hours snuggled up with blankets, enjoying the crackling fire. Our host Cindy went above and beyond ro ensure our stay was perfect. From thoughtful touches in the cabin to quick responses to our questions. I highly recommend The Buchu Box to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in nature.

Wonderful place, we will definitely visit again. We loved everything about it. The only critique I have is the motorgate; it is a pain to open and close manually, especially if you are traveling alone. If this gate could be made automatic, that would be so much better.

Sue is a fantastic and very sweet host! She was always quick to respond. The house had a lovely holiday feel to it.

We really enjoyed staying in this house. There were a few challenges during our stay, but the host was very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. Welcome wine was a nice touch!

..ended up spending 18 wonderful days with lots of reason to be there again. Babette and Cheryl are warm and hospitable. The air is breathable and believe me the house is a perfect escape to relax, unwind and enjoy the beauty of the ocean. It’s truly a slice of heaven!

A group of friends spent a long weekend at the Whale Huys which exceeded expectations. The setting on the mountainside directly above the sea is spectacular and each bedroom has a sea view. The owners have catered for every need. Even though it was winter we had very warm weather and were able to enjoy the heated pool and the hot tub. One could spend all day taking in the panoramic view over the sea and watching the whales in the bay. We received a warm welcome from Rene on arrival and felt at home right away. We hope to be back soon!

We loved our stay, a little retreat snuck away in nature, while still central and close to all amenities. The landscaping was done very inteligently, creating such good privacy to the main road, framing beautiful vistas from the lounge and main bedroom without a need for boundary walls. The social spaces are very well arranged and the games room upstairs is such an enjoyable space. We were all.enchanted by the semi private path to the beach over the bridge and through the vlei, with all the birds and insects. We were visited by an otter and there were two hadedas that slept every night on the roof ridge. There is no TV and the main room upstairs doesn't have a door, which might put some people off but we didn't mind. The house is very well-equipped and we were very comfortable. The outdoor shower is lovely and the social spaces are very well organized, especially the enclosed verandah, which is perfect for an afternoon nap or a lively family meal time around the braai. My partner and I stayed at Leslie's place for our 2-night stay in Hermanus and it was well worth it. It's close to everything, in a secure estate and the perfect place to recuperate amongst our activities for the weekend.

A lovely stay with great amenities. Peaceful and can hear the ocean at night. A great place for anyone looking to slow down from city life. Rod has done a great job with the place and was super helpful in us planning our itinerary. 10/10 would recommend ;)

We loved our stay here! The ocean views were amazing and a perfect spot outside of Cape Town but not too far. Easy to drive to neighboring towns.

We decided on an unscheduled trip to visit the kids in Stellenbosch. Looked for a place to just sleep as our itenirary was jam packed. I booked, and minutes later received confirmation and instructions. Well communicated, everything was as it is described. Book here if you need a good value 1-2 day stopover. You will not be disappointed.
