"De Gulle pracht" Holiday home, Friesland

Our cozy cottage was originally an old stable that we (Caroline and Jan) converted together, with love and respect for the old details and materials, into this "Gulle Pracht". A private driveway with parking leads to the terrace with the spacious garden, a lawn with surrounding high trees, where you can relax. Through the two French doors, you enter the bright and cozy living room with the white old beams and a fully equipped open kitchen. There is wireless internet, TV and DVD available. Because of the ceiling in the living room that has been removed, beautiful light falls in from the skylights and you have a view of the roof construction with the old round shuffles. The beds can be found on top of the two lofts. The comfortable double bed is accessed by an open staircase. The other loft, where a third or fourth bed can be made, is only accessible by flexible guests via a ladder. It is not suitable for small children because of the danger of falling, but larger children find it exciting to sleep there. Please note, the two lofts share the same large open space. Under the old beams, it is wonderful to sleep peacefully, where only the sound of rustling trees, whistling birds or your wonderfully snoring bedmate will be heard. The room is heated by central heating, but only the wood-burning stove can warm the cottage comfortably. We will provide you with enough wood to light a cozy fire. Through an old stable door in the living room, you enter the bathroom with beamed ceiling and underfloor heating. The bathroom has a good shower, double sink and toilet. With its inlaid mosaics and all kinds of funny and old details, this space is also a feast for the eyes. There are two bicycles available for beautiful trips in the wide area (Harlingen, Franeker Bolsward). If necessary, we would like to drop you off in Harlingen for a crossing to Terschelling. You can then leave the car in our yard for a while. We ourselves live in the farmhouse that is on the same property. We are available for help, information and advice for fun trips in our beautiful Friesland. Your cottage and our farmhouse are separated by our garden and the large old barn (with pool table), so we both have our own space and privacy. Kimswerd , located on the eleven city route is a small, quiet and beautiful village where our Frisian hero " de Grutte Pier" was born and lived. He still watches over us, in petrified form, at the beginning of our little street, next to the centuries-old Church, which is very much worth visiting as well. You can do your shopping in Harlingen, the supermarket is a fifteen minute bike ride away. The old port of Harlingen is 10 km from our cottage. Kimswerd is located just above the closure dike. From there, follow the signs N31 Harlingen/ Leeuwarden/Zurich and take the first exit at Kimswerd, 1st right at the traffic circle, 1st right again at the next traffic circle, straight at the intersection, straight ahead, across the bridge and immediately take the first left (Jan Timmerstraat). At the beginning of this street, next to the church, stands the statue of the Grutte Pier. We live in the farmhouse behind the church, Jan Timmerstraat 6, first wide gravel path on the right. - For small children, sleeping on the loft without a gate is not suitable because of the danger of falling. For large children it is fun, the loft is accessible by a ladder. Please note, it is 1 large open space upstairs without privacy.

Cozy apartment on the outskirts of village near the sea dike with spacious south-facing balcony with beautiful views. We have this fully renovated, spacious apartment at our disposal and would like to let our guests enjoy it. Tzummarum is a cozy village and a great base for trips to, for example, Franeker, Harlingen (Wadden Islands), Leeuwarden or the lake area. In the rural surroundings of Tzummarum, it is wonderful for cycling, hiking and motorcycling.
