Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Madison County

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the LongRun Farm. It was conveniently located, 10 mins to the Shenandoah National Park (5 mins to Stanardsville center), quiet, spacious, well-decorated, and clean. My parents spoke highly of the view and quietness at the property and said this is the best place they stayed at during their two-week trip in the U.S.

This stay was absolutely delightful! We had hiked at White Oak canyon which was a super close drive away, and adored the house overall. The inside and backyard was extremely spacious, with a lovely porch and a lot of room. The kitchen was probably one of the best air bnb kitchens I had experienced, with a lot of basic ingredients at hand making it easy to cook given that we were kind of far away from any nearby grocery stores. The area was extremely peaceful and tranquil. My friend made use of the bath for a luxurious bubble bath, and we really enjoyed both the personality of the space and the openness and light coming in thanks to big windows and ceiling windows. One note is that the beds were extremely soft, which I am generally not a huge fan of, so be aware, but this by no means made the stay any less amazing. The 3-11 check-in check-out gave us ample time to arrive in the mid-afternoon/early evening after our hike, and have a nice slow morning to make pancakes and enjoy nature :)

This is a really lovely space, secluded and beautiful! I really liked all the art and design inside the house as well. Beds were super comfy and of course the suspended net was a big hit with kids. We would love to stay here again!

We had a great retreat at John’s place. The farm was just the spot for a quiet weekend outside the city. John was a great host, thoughtful and responsive.

Pleasantly surprised by the house, the property and location. We rented the house for a group of 10 for my daughters graduation weekend from UVA. Although we didn't get to spend as much time at the property as we would have liked (due to graduation festivities), we all had plenty of room to unwind and enjoy a few hours each day. We wished we had more time to relax and take advantage of everything the property had to offer, but nevertheless, we were very happy with our stay - and hope to come back another time !

We enjoyed star gazing on the hammock, campfires at night, farm eggs for breakfast, tubing on the river, the barn and solo, the canoe, just resting and taking walks. And of course our trusted companion Louie. We caught so many fish as well. Alex, thank you for taking time to share with us the wonderful aspects and history of the farm!

Spent the weekend for a friend's birthday with our dogs. Such a lovely house with an amazing amount of amenities (instant pot, air fryer, etc). Loved the hot tub and fire pit. The property was also quite fun to explore. Finally Lindsey was quite informative and easy to reach. Definitely a spot I'd love to visit again! PS the Luray Caverns were BEAUTIFUL

Besides the above, the place had an excellent internet connection with multiple outlets in both the bedroom and living area. Lots of small details throughout that showed a lot of thought went into providing comfort to whoever stayed there. Its appreciated.

I had a wonderful stay. Ruthann’s place was beautiful both inside and out. The room was spacious, spotless, and full of light, perfect for a solo traveler. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, great water pressure in the shower. I especially loved the raised nook beside the bed; it was a lovely place to begin the day, reading by the morning light and listening to the birds. The private patio is peaceful, a well-shaded garden with comfortable furnishings; you can spend all day out there. Ruthann is just lovely. Her instructions for parking and accessing the space were clear, and she was very responsive and checked in with me each day. It was great to chat. I felt very welcome. I appreciated all the little touches, from snacks and water to the collection of DVDs. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and hope to stay again!

Andrew's place was just as described. It was 5 minutes away from everything I wanted to do, so it was also in a great location! I stayed for a week, and it fit my needs perfectly. I would stay here again!

This place was so cute! Everything was clean and clearly taken care of. Plenty of space to park and had the most gorgeous view with benches all along the street. The railroad station is across the road but I heard no noise from the trains during our whole stay. The area is in the middle of plenty things to do from river put ins, skyline drive, great restaurants, sightseeing, and many other things. The hosts have everything set up to be very welcoming! I HIGHLY recommend!!

We had an amazing stay here, we couldn't have asked for anything more! It's in a great location in a quiet neighborhood and is super close to everything. The space was super clean, well stocked with essentials, and looked just like the pictures. I would definitely stay here again if we were in the area!

We had a wonderful stay! Close to Shenandoah NP for easy access each day. Space was perfect for us and our son. The patio was perfect for having our meals - with a great view and the sound of sheep from down the hill! Very peaceful. We are so glad we found this stay - highly recommend!

This stay surpassed our expectations. It was very, very clean and welcoming. Although we didn't cook, the kitchen was well stocked and there weren't chipped dishes or glassware. There was a nice selection of coffees for the Keurig and two bottles of water in the fridge that we weren't expecting. I can't say enough about the decorations. We thoroughly enjoyed Martha's own photos displayed throughout the apartment - only wish there was a book of captions to enjoy! Highly recommend. We came in for a wedding at Wolf Trap farms and it was an easy drive 3.8 miles away. We had easy parking right Out Front. There was a little coffee/pastry shop across the street that also had cafe sandwiches that we thoroughly enjoyed. Excellent air conditioning! We would come back in a heart beat :-)

we stay at this property whenever visiting our son in Palmyra. the unit is always spotless, warm and welcoming. recent upgrades are a functional kitchen with sink, refrigerator, coffee maker, Hot plate for quick one pot meals and microwave. the space is under a large cathedral ceiling and offers plenty of space for two people but can accommodate four with the additional queen size air mattress available. perfect place for a young familys, or a few friends to spend a weekend or longer. The fact that pets are welcome is also awesome. thank you linnice for providing such a warm comforting unit!

Perfect spot for people who plan on bringing their personal boat to Lake Anna. Condo was clean and had all the amenities including prime proximity to the marina, locally owned restaurants and shopping. Would book again in a heartbeat. Had a great time!

Andy was very responsive and gave clear instructions. We had been at this resort a few times in the past and the unit we received was very nicely appointed and updated. We had all amenities and were super close to the indoor pool and gym. Comfortable.

Great stay. Isaac was easy to deal with. The place is beautiful and in a great location. We would definitely come back. It needs more hangers and more towels. Next time I will bring an extra set of towels for each bathroom with me. Very easy check out. Very relaxing stay.

We had a great girls weekend at Melissa’s. The property was the perfect size for 4 and was very convenient! Ear plugs and white noise machines really helped with the street noise. Melissa was very responsive and helpful.

There was a small issue with the check in process but it was not the fault of the host. He was very responsive and helpful. We had a fantastic time!!

We stayed in this condo for a month and found it to be very comfortable. Although in an older, fairly large complex and on the ground level, we found it to be quiet, private, and secure. The kitchen was well stocked, all appliances in good working order, furnishings in good condition, and pleasant decor lending to a homey atmosphere. Condo is in a great location with shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. All in all, a good experience. Angelique was immediately responsive to questions/concerns. We would definitely stay there again.

After my first reservation unexpectedly fell through, Jan's immediate response to have the same week available was really appreciated. The Summit views are the best of all of Massanutten, as I have stayed in several different units over the years. And, our upper unit had zero stairs from parking lot to unit door. I highly recommend booking the Summit with Jan!
