Monthly Rentals in Muckish

Peaceful and beautiful area, cosy cottage. We found the drive to Magheraoarty harbour for the ferry to Tory very lovely. The weather looked grim in the morning, so we nearly cancelled but the weather changed and we saw the island under blue skies and sun. We enjoyed exploring the north west shoulder of Ireland; Dungloe, Benburb and Cruit Island, to the pier. The road to the pier passed through a golf course. It looked deserted but a golfer , obscured by a small hill, hit his ball and cracked the corner of my partner's windscreen! It's often when you leave the bigger roads that you see all the lovely settlements overlooking the sea. These roads can be tiring for the driver who needs to be constantly watching for oncoming traffic on roads where it is difficult for cars to pass without a passing place. We only had a few days but returned restored, via Ards Foret Park.

Danny was always quick to reply, very flexible when we e.g. asked for an additional blanket. The only thing where he could improve is to provide more dishes and kitchen hardware. We stayed there with 4 people, but only had 3 bowls, the rest was mainly limited to 4 pieces each, but a few more dishes wouldn't hurt so that the dishwasher that is available can actually be more full. There were also only 2 pots available. Everything else was great, just some small ideas to further improve.

We were a family of two humans and three puppers. We all loved our stay at Bridie’s and wished we could have stayed for much longer than four nights. The house is an authentic Irish farmhouse set on a beautiful quiet country road. Beds were very comfy & we were constantly delighted to waken to the sound of Cuckoo calling from across the valley. The kitchen was well stocked with all we needed to enjoy some home cooked meals and Bridie had set the stove in the kitchen as well as the open fire in the sitting room, should we have needed them. Thankfully we had glorious weather so no need for a comforting turf fire to soothe the soul this week. :-) The house is in a perfect location to explore Glenveagh National Park, the many spectacular mountains, Horn Head and the stunning sandy beaches of North West Donegal. We were totally thrilled to have spotted two Golden Eagles soaring along the mountain ridges above The Poisoned Glen. All in all, Bridie’s place was perfect for us.

Rhonda's home is perfect in every way. Everything is as described. Rhonda is the best host, with impeccable communication and information. It was easy to find and close enough to several small towns to get a great feel of being in Ireland, while also being accesible to the natural wonders we came to County Donegal to enjoy. I loved our neighbors (of the animal persuasion) but can tell you, as an extremely light sleeper who is very sensitve to any noise, once you walk in and close the doors, you are in a soundproof home. I was worried I'd hear the donkeys braying at night, but not at all. We slept like babes in the very comfortable beds. The nearby beach walk recommended by Rhonda was lovely and one of our favorite escursions from the cottage, as was Friday night at Patsy Dan's. We had a wee trouble with the door that was 100% user error but it did afford us the opportunity to meet the caretaker, Robert, who was a real gem. Do not hesitate to rent this wonderful property.
