(Kohana = tree ice in the Nagano dialect) The facility is a large 1 LDK villa in the forest of Kurohime. Right near the Shinanomachi Interchange, with Lake Nojiri about 5 minutes away, you can enjoy a year-round stay with plenty of activities. Recommend 2 nights or more (discounts available) Seven people is best. In the summer it is cool and the water is cold. - In the cold winter of 10 degrees Celsius, you can stay warm and comfortable from your feet with underfloor heating. Two toilets and the first floor are flat floors, so you can use them safely from children to the elderly. Kurohime Slope is 5 minutes away, and there are many slopes within a 30-minute radius, so you can enjoy a variety of terrain. We offer free rental of a simple BBQ and fire pit. On a rainy day, you can play darts, Jenga, or table tennis indoors, or you can visit the nearby hot springs or sauna. In the forest, insects and animals coexist. Snow can be troublesome. Mökki means "cottage" in Finnish. Spend your time in a special place surrounded by nature. Guest house Mökki is located in Shinano-cho, a town blessed with forests, lakes and snow in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, with a wealth of natural areas such as Kurohime Kogen, Lake Nojiri and Togakushi nearby. You can freely use the comfortable building renovated with natural materials such as cedar, cypress, and plaster, the natural garden that creates seasonal scenery, and the forest where the stream flows.In the forest that we have been maintaining, you can see birds, squirrels, and marten, and you can enjoy strolling around looking for wild vegetables and mushrooms, as well as swings and hammocks. We also paid close attention to the interior design and kitchen utensils to make sure you can enjoy "living" in the space. At the gazebo by the stream, you can enjoy BBQ and campfires without worrying about the weather. After procuring fresh ingredients locally, move to the Rock Forest, park your car in the parking lot, and go up the stairs to bring the ingredients to the hearth space. You won't see any other people. It is 60 minutes by Shinkansen from Tokyo to Karuizawa, and 30 minutes by car from Karuizawa Station, so you can work in the morning and take a half-day off in the afternoon, for example. It is less than 5 minutes walk (or 1 min drive) to some cafes and restaurants and the new Nagano Forest Village. There, you can buy local produce, craft beers & wine, and walk around the beautiful area. We recommend driving to explore more around the highlands and snow tires (or chains) are a must have during winter. We are 1080m above sea level, its cool in summer!
